Goliath is the debut studio album by Butcher Babies, and figuring the material itself out is hardly challenging. Why? It's clear that the band has oodles of potential, though most of the songs here are standard metal fare comprised of vocals both sung and growled, riffs that aren't always worthwhile, and the compositions just could've been written better overall. This record serves as an alright first impression, yet it doesn't really make an impact as much as it should.

It isn't that bad but it could be better. "I Smell A Massacre" is a great song and example of what they are capable of but some of the other songs fall flat.

I like it, but it doesn't thrill me; the parts that are good are REALLY good though, which is a sign of potential.

Eh. I dig the music hard but the vocals drag everything down a bit too much for it to be really listenable on a regular basis. Maybe give them time and they could improve (after all this is just the debut album).
