A decidedly hit and miss record. Some songs, "9 to 5" and "Hoodie" among them, are genuine pop gems. Others are clumsy, aimless, and in some instances downright irritating. Her voice itself will probably detract a lot of listeners, if not the irascible and bratty attitude. But Lady Sovereign does have the gift of capable pop composition. At only 20 years old, she has much time to make use of it, even if Public Warning only shows glimpses of proper application.

Stuff a batch of tea and crumpets into Missy Elliott, turn her white, and there you have Lady Sovereign. To this girl's credit, Public Warning shows that she's got spunk and doesn't really hesitate on flaunting said attitude, even if it is an act. The elements of grime, hip hop, and the occasional pop sensibility could've been utilized more properly and Sovereign's noticeable English accent will be grating towards a few listeners.

Imagine your little annoying sister trying to act "hardcore" and rap. Yeah...i'd rather listen to nails on a chaulkboard or a Limp Bizkit/Attack Attack collab before I give this album a spin past the first 10secs.

When I first heard about this girl I thought I would hate her and everything about her, but instead I found a rather talented girl. Surprising. She's got a fast style and a pinch of self-deprecation that reminds me of Eminem, but a snotty attitude reminiscent of modern pop punk bands like early Green Day or blink-182.

I found this album in my younger sisters collection and decided to give it a listen. I have now lost all respect for my sister.
Never have I heard such irritating noise since stumbling across Cbeebies.
Lady Sovereign? Argh. I think she should have rights to call herself that when she stops burping in recording sessions.
I think her whole I'm-A-Girl-Trying-To-Be-A-Man-To-Fit-Into-The-Grime-Scene act is pathetic.
She comes across as an artist who might have some potential if only she kept her mouth shut.
