Honestly, the EP isn't bad when The Used is actually playing songs. The only problem is that the latter 24 minutes of the album seems to just be fluff. So as long as you avoid Tethys and skip The Ocean and the Sky after the song finishes then you should be fine.Other than the fluff, a solid piece of work by The Used

Confusing experimentation for what is more or less boredom, The Ocean of the Sky is an EP which is off to an acceptable start with its first two tracks, but the last three completely overstay their welcome in the sense that The Used merely feel tired. "Tethys" is interesting for what it was trying to be, though the song could've been better if all the fat was trimmed.

There are a lot of interesting ideas to be found on this new EP, like the really strange noise and spoken word parts in the title track. The first two songs sound like they'd fit right at home on an earlier Used record as well. Unfortunately, Bert's voice just seems pretty shot with it sounding a little flat at times. They are showing potential to create something really great with their next album if they can develop these ideas a little more.
