When your heart stops beating was a piece broken off of what the self titled Blink 182 album could have been. Sure it has all the influences of what blink was but its beyond that. Plus 44 is what blink would have been if they had matured a little bit more. The music derives from Marks influences such as The Cure and The Descendants and some songs could pass for being on a blink album. It is very different from Angels And Airaves in many ways and couldnt be compared. I suggest picking up this album and hear for yourself the blasting beats of Travis' drumset and the high/low pitched voice of Mark Hoppus. I give this album 4 stars at best.

Fun, simplistic pop rock record. If the whole thing was as brilliant as the penultimate electro-pop mashup "Make You Smile" this would receive a much higher rating; as it stands, the songs are consistently catchy but hardly original.

The better of the two bands formed from blink-182's breakup. While AVA/Tom had their heads in the clouds, Mark and Travis were a bit more grounded which resulted in a collection of very solid songs. Tonally the album has more of an alternative rock flair rather than the poppy pop punk blink had. It's not as upbeat, and is slower paced at moments, but the band is able to consistently capture the listener's attention. Mark carries quite well as the frontman doing a sufficient job being the solo vocalist. There's nothing incredible about his voice, but there's more of a range to his voice than previous efforts. It would have been great to see how this band's sound would have grown, but sadly this appears to be the only album the band will put out. It's the closest thing to blink's self-titled, and it's the best thing any member of blink-182 has released after their breakup.

Although I like some of what Angels and Airwaves has done, this one album is better than their entire discography. +44 is wildly over looked, and if Blink ever breaks up again I hope Mark and Travis will make another +44 album.

If there is any comparison to who sounds more like Blink, out of +44 and AVA. +44 takes it by a MILE. Mark and Travis do not forget where they come from whatsoever in WYHSB. They have taken a sort of new direction with some electronica in the music, but they do it well. Personally I think there are only 1 or 2 dull tracks on the album. I think these songs are songs that Mark never got to do with Blink being that these lyrics can fit into a few Blink songs. Although, Mark does not forget what Tom did to him at at all, hence, "No It Isn't". Another +44 release is definitely something I will be looking forward too.

Great review, and the intro made me laugh. I think this album's a lot better if you look at it track by track and give it a listen or two properly.  The electro bit of this album is more evident in tracks like '155', 'When your heart stops beating' (a little..?) ok.. well it's pop-punk then. Guessing the woman who left was on the "make you smile" track.. i like that track. shame she left. 
I was a blink fan, I'll admit, this does sound like 'blink-Tom82' (god damn I'm witty) Which to me is brilliant- cause i loved blink but after 10 minutes or so Tom's voice would get to me, he sounded like a whiny jerk when he sang. At least for "Take off your pants.."

flip its cool. fun music, with slightly more depth than blink, but who's looking for depth from them any way - then we get swallowed up in the arrogant crevices of Tom and co. Blink are flippin excellent in their own right, but hey, we're not teenagers anymore. nobody loves you when youre 23 and still act like youre listening to blink, so they made +44 for us.

It is a good first step for the band. Hoppus took the better route of the two post-blink band by using Blink 182 as a foundation upon which to build his sound. It does have its dull moments, but the good songs show that this is a band with a real future ahead of them.

I dont like people saying that it is like Blink 182. Sure it has 2 of the members but it has a totaly different sound. Personally i think it is better then Angels and Airwaves. Travis' drumming has taken on a diferent style of more modern/alternaRock. Mark has explored more levels with his voice and has got alot out of it.
Overall the album is very good. I am hooked on it but it wont be around for long i dont think but then again, in the music world nothing these days sticks around for long

This album has its highs and lows, both musically and lyrically. Lyrically, there are plenty of shortcomings and some lyric topics, including "slit our wrists and burn," are tired. Musically it seems that anyone around Travis Barker is a shortcoming. However, this album is catchy, entertaining, and is a definite sign of maturity on the part of 2/3 of what used to be Blink 182. It would not be a mistake to purchase, but there is better stuff out there.
