0.0 | LightRedFloyd | July 12th 13 | Dog shit is even giving this too much credit. Atleast dog shit is a necessary bodily function for the survival of a dog, an animal that can actually serve several different purposes and is loved by many people. Asking Alexandria is also loved by many people but 98% of them are retarded.

0.0 | Panzerchrist | July 16th 13 | Last night I performed a sacred ritual, in the halls of a temple whose name has long since
fallen off the tongues of mortal man. It's dusty stone structures echoed it's sentiments
clearly; it was cold, harsh and cruel, but it existed for a reason. And that reason was
why I had come.
I placed the sacred texts inside of the blood sphere, and chanted the names of three
demons, and with the chants escaping my throat, the floors did rumble and break. From
within
the seal, a powerful force erupted, ascending from flames and thorns to hover over me with
incredible power born. A devil in flesh.
"WHY HATH THEE AWOKEN ME, MORTAL?" It spoke.
And so I answered it. "Asking Alexandria has put out their newest full length. I would do
anything to stop it."
The demon cocked it's head.
"ANYTHING?" it mused.
"Anything." I stated.
The abomination grinned. "YOUR DEMANDS HAVE BEEN MET."
And that's how I became the head writer of Pitchfork.

4.0 excellent | timquiros | August 6th 13 | I don't think the album cover is meaningless at all. It's just a matter of how you interpret or understand it, like art. Let me tell you how I interpret it.rThe stripper in a vending machine (probably means paid sex) represents a man's death. It represents his past lifestyle; sex, drugs, parties, etc. On the other hand, the man walking through the hallway represents a man turning his back from his past and choosing to fulfill his destiny. Therefore the album is titled "From Death to Destiny".rAs for the album's quality, I really enjoyed it. I think this is the best AA release so far. The lyrics are not profound and excellent, but definitely not below average. I'm also digging the new Slipknot or nu-metal-like growls and immensely improved clean vocals. I honestly think the vocal style is intentional too. Also less unnecessary breakdowns, better song structures. Overall, the band has matured a lot.rFor me this album deserves a rating of 4.0. I know, most of you will disagree.

3.0 good | peartnoy | July 29th 13 | Still not perfect, but it would be dishonest to say that there aren't some headbanging riffs and huge choruses on this. Definitely their best, even if the production kinda sucks.

3.5 great | Aust4L | July 30th 13 | Got the leak when it hit Pirate Bay today at 5 Central Time. Listened to is straight through, couldn't be more impressed. The maturity level lyrically and instrumentally is incredibly impressive. This band will always be hated because of their success but there's no doubt they know what it takes to make a good album to listen to. Easily some of their best work. More radio mainstream every song is easily listenable however. Great piece of work.

1.5 very poor | kintups55 | April 23rd 18 | AA trying to be more mature and abandoning their childish and angst ridden yet fun earlier sound just leads to them becoming run of the mill bad radio rock.
Bump |
3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | August 21st 17 | This is pretty much Reckless And Relentless just with more hard rock-isms and less shoehorned orchestral instrumentation (though that doesn't completely become eschewed). The influence of that oft-maligned post-grunge/hard rock style is very prevalent on From Death To Destiny in the clean vocals and pops up in the songwriting every now and again. Needless to say, the cleans aren't very good. They're decent enough in some spots but in others they have this awful pseudo-gruff quality to them that just doesn't work in the slightest. The songwriting is a bit bouncier, still pretty simple but still pretty fun, and there's several catchy moments here that are pretty entertaining. It's definitely got the best poppy moments of their career thus far, but aren't as enjoyable when they do decide to play more on the metalcore side of things. It seems like each one of their albums has something really good about it that's held back by something totally unnecessary.

3.5 great | MaggieG | February 7th 16 | The last AA album to feature Danny Worsnop and shows the band maturing from their past two albums. Coming as someone who isn't an Asking fan, I found myself enjoying this album more than I expected. The band's musicianship and songwriting has definitely improved and Worsnop's vocals aren't as obnoxious as they were on their first record. I have to say that there's even songs that I legitimately enjoy on this record. However, the lyrics at times can still be shallow and juvenile and the album suffers from some tonal inconsistency as the band are unable to decide whether to stick to their trademark metalcore sound or move into a more hard rock/pop metal style a la Guns N'Roses or Motley Crue. Asking's best album yet though and I hope they continue to mature in style as they do have a lot of potential.

5.0 classic | neojoe | April 11th 15 | Lyrical genious, totally unexpected considering their prior albums. It's a shame Danny left, but in doing so he made this one a classic
Bump |
1.0 awful | Jared Floryan | November 2nd 14 | Horrifically asinine and far too uninspired, From Death to Destiny is the epitome of a fossil which should've been simply kept buried. Sure, there's not so much a sign of synth-like elements anywhere on this album, but at least that was somewhat tolerable; the keyword is 'somewhat', my friends.

4.0 excellent | zanx | December 30th 13 | This is such an odd bag to rate. They fix some things critics hate them for, and then fall into other problems. First off the overused breakdowns and the electronic dance AA! has been notorious for is gone. I'm not saying that is good or bad. AA! Was an indulgent band for me. Just plain heavy, simple fun. They've decided they don't want to be that anymore. So here's the good. They have added the old school Rock n Roll feel they've hinted at so many times in other songs. They are breaking the mold, and it is refreshing. But they are falling into other molds... Song structures are repetitive and uninteresting compared to those on previous albums. The album includes fantastic songs (Don't Pray For Me, Moving On, Run Free) and boring songs (Until The End, Poison). Give it a shot with an open mind. I respect them for pursuing exactly what they want. I think that's what AA! has been about all along. I for one wish it was a little heavier. And I wish they had let Joey Sturgis handle all the aspects... They let him record, but David Bendeth handled mixing duties and its so muddy. Still a fun listen if you give it a chance.

2.0 poor | Kronzo | November 6th 13 | I don't really know why I was expecting better, most of these songs sound exactly the same. From Death to Destiny is a complete chore to get through. The occasional catchy moment here and there saves this from being complete garbage, but it doesn't make up for all of the boring breakdowns and the overall phoned-in performance from the entire outfit.

4.5 superb | NickzeDick | October 24th 13 | This review sounds pretty damn biased. I have listened through AA's previous two albums hundreds of times and I loved them. So naturally this new release took some getting used to, but not much. I think the new style really works for them and the instruments sound a bit more tasteful. Danny's vocals (while he doesn't have nearly as much range as he used to) sound more natural and I think it's working well for him. I think this album is great and worth a listen.

1.5 very poor | Antigen | August 23rd 13 | The fact that Alt Press gave this a 4/5 makes me hate them even more.
Bump |
2.0 poor | Deuce8311 | August 21st 13 | Very disappointed just like I knew I would be knowing Danny's voice would not be the same. In my opinion, it was his vocals that made the last album better than average. "From Death To Destiny" just felt very uninspired, as if the band said well it's time to make another album and just made it for the sake of having one. Nothing special really stands out to me on this album, but I can't bring myself to give them any lower of a rating. I've always had a soft spot for theses guys, but they're really starting to push it. Thank God for the guest vocals of Howard Jones that save the album toward the end, and keep it from being a total loss. Even then, his vocals ALSO get watered down with synthesizers and unnecessary studio production. Hopefully AA can find an answer and some needed inspiration within the next few years, or they're going to be in even worse jeopardy of losing the fans that aren't scene kids who still need their moms to drop them off at the concert.
Bump |
2.5 average | cloakanddagger | August 13th 13 | The album is actually a big step in the right direction. The songs actually sound like genuine songs now, rather than just an excuse for breakdowns, and overall the music flows a lot better than it did in their previous releases.

2.5 average | TylerLamberg | August 6th 13 | This album in no way deserves all the 1s it has. No, this is nothing perfect, but it's a lot rbetter than what I expected from this band. They're getting better. Seriously though, the rfact that this is rated lower than Reckless and Relentless at the moment is just utterly rridiculous. That album was the epitome of bad.
