The production is what really makes this album for me. The album lost points for me due to the lack of any really emotional ballads that covered My Beautiful Dark Fantasy. But its also nice to see a rap album that is not like 17 tracks long and over 75 mins. I feel like it this album will grow on me too, so my rating may even go up a little higher.

One of the most annoying problems that comes with evaluating Kanye West's music is that for many people it's virtually impossible for them to actually talk about the music without associating it with his public persona, regardless if its positive or negative. So considering that 'Yeezus' sounds like West baiting absolutely everyone and a deliberte attempt to play his caricatured image to the furthest extent for maximum reaction. I can't help but feel that Yeezus is *not* him but rather what the world thinks he is, but enough of that crap because thinking about that just constantly gets in the way of the music, and much of it here is pretty damn good. 'Black Skinhead' and 'New Slaves' have been obvious jems since their debut on SNL but 'Guilt Trip', 'Bound 2', 'Hold My Liquor' and much others are sll top-notch Kanye. Ultimately some parts to it are more fascinating or interesting than enjoyable, but I can confirm whilst (trying to) avoid as much Kool-aid drinking as possible that Kanye West is still at the top of his game in making fulfilling, daring pop music.

As if Kanye took the sound and themes of Hell of a Life on MBDTF and let it grow to a minimalist, manic and desperate exploration of the Dark Fantasy he explored on his previous work. Albeit not the first and not the finest example of industrial hip-hop yet still deserves the tag. It?s harsh sometimes, it?s crazy it?s vulgar. Yet as Kanye can pull off, heartfelt in a strange way. Definitely not Mr. Wests crown jewel when it comes to lyricism, but it doesn?t bother me too much because it seems to serve as the personification of this crazed character of Yeezus.

Some parts are annoying (eg the end of "I Am A God"), and I feel he needs to incorporate super epic and nice moments (eg the end of "New Slaves") to try not to alienate his audience too much. Maybe his most experimental, but definitely not his most focused. Plus on this album he sometimes sounds like a bad copy of Frank Ocean, and some beats sound like subpar Death Grips with less aggressivity. "Hold My Liquor" is gud tho. Edit: kinda grew, but still all-over-the-place.

The worst thing about Yeezus is reading comments about it on music rating websites. So much talk of Kanye's ego, fish and less talk of the actual music. It truly seems that if someone else released this same album it would be held in a much different esteem, oh well. The first four tracks are borderline surreal, perfect industrial beats with a very blunt and angered Kanye. One of the best album openings I can think of. The music in general is on another level from most hip hop. Simple at times but sonically intoxicating. The production on Yeezus is other worldly creating a spacious, crisp environment. For me On Sight, Black Skinhead, I Am A God, New Slaves, Bound 2 and Blood On The Leaves are on par with any of the Kanye classics. Kanye's ability to thrive in so many distinct styles of hip hop is beyond amazing and I hope he can reinvent his style effectively in the future. That being said he doesn't need to release another second of music with the stunning pedigree he has already created.

Yeezy is the sort of lad who will fuck you hard on the sink - and after that, he'll most likely get you something to drink. Eventually you notice that the new Corolla has been slightly scratched; okay, the new Corolla was smashed. Nonsense aside, Kanye West's sixth full-length record Yeezus is practically a different beast compared to its predecessor, for while My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy drowned in excess with ultimately successful results, this album has more of a minimalist air about it. However, don't think for a second that Kanye's sixth LP is easy as 123, as Yeezus is the dude's most experimental release yet. Featuring elements of the typical hip hop sound alongside other styles like industrial, punk, dancehall, and drill, the album's diversity is both its strong suit and major weakness. The shorter tracks, whilst not entirely bad, have an issue with staying consistent while holding onto whatever variation is nearby, but the relatively longer songs are among some of Yeezy's most powerful ditties. It's obviously not on par with the 2010 behemoth, although I can say that Yeezus is an enjoyable enough affair courtesy of the monster. Angel recommends: "I Am a God," "Hold My Liquor," "Blood on the Leaves," "Guilt Trip," and "Bound 2". Uh-huh, honey.

After countless spins of this disc, some tracks on it I still just cannot find a reason to like; this particularly applies to On Sight, Send It Up, and I Am A God. This is Kanye at his best and worst, with the brutal honesty and absurd exaggerations we've all come to know and love, as he so kindly reveals just how earnest his words really are. With I'm In It for the ridiculous (which actually as a whole is a great, unique track when you disregard the vanity and just listen), Hold My Liquor for the brutal honesty, Blood On The Leaves and Guilt Trip for the emotional, and Bound 2 for a look back at who he was and who he's become. This really is a great disc, and on par with Kanye's level of quality. As he himself is more than likely his biggest critic, after an album like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (how the fuck do you live up to something like that, after all?), this is hardly comparable to a sophomore slump almost 10 studio records into his musical career; it is a commendable effort by a person who's not afraid of being vulnerable and verbally brutal (often for good reason) and constructive and intensely creative and raw and honest.

Yeezus is merely an egotistical pop and hip-hop culture celebrity's self-proclamation. Sure, Kanye West has a lot to be bragadoccious about and he definitely has ideas going in his mind (like The College Dropout and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy showcased). But on Yeezus, Mr. West delivers stellar sonic quality with recycled flows, trashy and rushed lyrics, Lil Wayne-level punchlines and mindless metaphors and hyperboles. There's a difference between showcasing the grotesque and making it come to life vivivly. And lyrically Yeezus hasn't got much grotesque stuff going on for it. The only repulsive thing I can find in this record is the lack of quality or passion in Kanye's lyrics on this record. With the closing track "Bound 2", Kanye delivers one of the most brilliant tracks of his career and it surely serves as a glimpse of hope for what Kanye will do next.

This album has passion and raw emotion, while being very original in the mix of electronic and trap influences it doesn't have the enduring qualities of My twisted dark fantasy... Which is still Mr West's best work.

he can list himself as the primary producer on as many of these tracks as he wants, but i can't bring myself to even consider this a true kanye cd with the overwhelming majority of production coming from others. i realize he's trying to focus more on rapping than producing at this point, but i am incredibly disappointed that i may never get to hear a proper, mainly kanye-produced answer to mbdtf. sure, yeezus has some tight beats and kanye remains a respectable rapper, but it's like he feels incapable of topping 2010's effort with his own production.

When it comes to Kanye, where do you start? The man is hard to take seriously with the controversy that
follows him, in one way, his actions overshadow his musical achievements- which are huge.
Yeezus not only reminds us that Kanye is an absolute douchebag, but the fact that Kanye's musical ability is
still in check. He has again, not failed to attract the hype with singing on top of buildings, not caring the
album was leaked and live performances on SNL. West decided not to fully produce the album as a result of
wanting outside help from acts including Daft Punk and Frank Ocean in a quest not to "become stale".
For a guy who hasn't released a solo album in almost three years, Kanye has evolved since My Beautiful Dark
Twisted Fantasy, with influences from The Throne and G.O.O.D Music he has released Yeezus looking for a
new industrial sound, whilst continuing the 'Kanye Factor' about the song; with tracks including New Slaves,
Black Skinhead, Blood On The Leaves and Guilt Trip as such examples.
Yet what makes this album great, is the last track- Bound 2, reviving the old school sound that
many fans worship Kanye for (me especially). Perhaps Yeezus is a progress album- with Kanye indicating to
his fans that he is always evolving, he appreciates where he has been, but in order to stay relevant- he must
evolve, and it's something I look forward to see transpire.
PS. Congratulations on your new baby girl Kanye.

Gone are the string orchestration and Kanye experiments with dark, "industrial" (accdg to a
review), and lyrics have become more dickish and arrogant. Recommended songs are
Black Skinhead, makes me wanna bang my head, Daft Punk actually does great here; Blood On
The Leaves, the centerpoint of the album; and Bound 2, I find it having the same vein with
Devil In a New Dress in a very far-fetched way. Gonna edit this when the official
release comes, I'm hoping the leak's not the final product with Rick Rubin, IDK.
