I strongly disagree, this is classic Dark Tranquillity. I picked up this CD today and I was very impressed, it was all I had hoped it to be. I also disagree with "self-indulgent" and "radio ready", this CD is perhaps the most overlooked DT album out there, and yet some songs here are so good they are DT classics.rIf you are a fan of DT you will enjoy this a lot. This album is just amazingly fun to listen to, makes you want to get up and boogie...haha I think Dark Tranquillity found thier niche in this album. "Haven" and "Damage Done" are probably my favorite albums by them. The Keyboards are amazing in this album

Underappreciated solid melodeath record. It's better than their later 2000s material, IMO, thanks to its crisp production and slightly more classic melodeath sound. Just approachable, no-nonsense stuff that's pretty much guaranteed to please the average fan of the genre.

Broke this out after seeing opinions rating it higher than Projector. IMO it isn't, but it is generally stronger than Moment (which doesn't suck, but lacks consistency).

Haven feels like a shedding of Dark Tranquillity's death metal basis, upping the melodic elements in a way that Projector would blush at. The thing is, Haven works better because it feels more committed at what it's trying to accomplish; sometimes a softer, sweeter package is simply more enjoyable. If Projector had the characteristics of an old book worn out due to stains from various liquids, then Haven is crisp and clingy like a fresh stack of dollar bills.
