The three ancient symbols have aligned inside the temple of WARP (Squarepusher, Autechre, [and finally] Boards of Canada), which means now Richard D. James (still frozen inside his cryogenic tomb) has a chance to get out. Attention Boba Fett (Infamous IDM Guardian): You gotta release him from your grasp! Electronic music is as popular as it may ever be! This won't be like the time Michael Jordan played for the Wizards. Come on Boba, let him go.

I applaud what Boards of Canada are doing on this record. It brims with the eerie sounds of low budget films and documentaries that any one born in the 1980's should remember from when your grade school teacher used to wheel out the TV and VCR when he/she felt like not doing their job for an afternoon. The moods and textures that they're able to pull off while working in the austere confines of their obvious influences is quite astounding. That being said it really is a mood record. For a few tracks at a time it is wondrously trance inducing, but absorbed all at once it is furiously tedious. I think one's enjoyment of Tomorrow's Harvest comes not only from one's overall appreciation of the genre, but also to how much concentration one puts into finding and appreciating the small shifts in mood with each new layer in the tracks. Overall it's a good album, but not something I am an any rush to revisit any time soon unless as I prefer my zone outs to be more ethereal than adderall.

Lush, atmospheric sound that brings about feelings of lonely, empty open spaces. Excellent blend of trip-hopesque beats and a myriad of electronic inputs. Most electronic music bores me or gets on my nerves, but this is a shining pearl in that black ocean.

Although in every sense a worthy continuation of a timeless classic run of records, 'Harvest' mainly feels like the little bit extra for those dying to have more BoC material. As such it naturally succeeds, but is also apparently satisfied with being just "the other one" in case you yearn for more after the other three. Honestly, a perfectly reasonable place to hold in a generally flawless discography.
