So terrible. The fun riffage has been replaced 90% by chugs and breakdowns. Fronz's vocals are stupid now. They took the party metal atmosphere too far, and lost what they were ever good for. Big letdown.

Honestly if you haven't liked any of their previous efforts, this wont be for you, but I legitimately enjoyed parts of Outlawed, so decided to give this one a listen. Beneath the ridiculous lyrics and overabundance of breakdowns there is some musical talent struggling to break free, with a few neat guitar solos and an overall southern-metal swagger; but just when it starts to get interesting, oh wait it's time for a breakdown. 'About That Life' is by no means a classic, by no means musically or lyrically interesting but that's not the point. Perhaps the best way to describe 'Atilla' is as the 'Limp Bizkit' of this generation; musically bullshit, but decent in a live setting. In any case, at the end of the night in a moshpit, ears begin to loose the ability to distinguish technical musicianship; and it's perhaps here where 'About This Life' will find greatest success. Yes it's dumb, yes it's repetitive, but much like a Roland Emmerich or Michael Bay film, there's a perverse part of me which revels in the adrenaline fulled stupidity, which (in the words of the band) makes me want to 'fuck church, hit a bong, then go smash a fucking bottle'. Well, almost. If you're new to the band, give this one a miss, get 'Outlawed' instead.

Just because you've been on MTV, doesn't mean that
you're best of the best. Also, About That Life was
produced by Joey Sturgis, a producer of such
"brutal" bands like Asking Alexandria, The Devil
Wears Prada, Attack Attack! and I See Stars. That's
all you need to know.
P.S. Joey Sturgis isn't a bad producer, in fact, he
is good at production. He's just not lucky with the
bands that he is producing.(

Opposed to Attila's other albums such as Outlawed and Rage, they actually tried out new things in this album, and it actually sounds great. I believe that Fronz actually succeeded in what many other artist have tried to do, but failed. He combined Rap, and Hardcore/Deathcore. Also, when he ties his fast paced, deathcore like screams into his songs, that's what makes his songs unique and interesting.rI don't really see why people hate this album. There is a few songs that are boring and I probably wouldn't listen to, but they have a steady metalcore/deathcore sound going for them. r

Attila finally has the good production to showcase how great their instrumentals can be. In my opinion, their drumming and breakdowns have never been better and the southern guitar riffs put the icing on the cake but unfortunately Fronz lyrics kills everything about this album.
