My favorite sounding deerhunter album. Quite possibly my favorite. They definitely honed in onto a specific sound and feel and the outcome is great. They take risks and they ultimately pay off. When i'm going to think of Deerhunter's trademark sound, I'm going to revert back to Monomania.

An album that isn't as grand or incredibly OVERWHELMING as their previous records, but is probably an easier listen. Best praise I could give it is that I listened to this more than once in a row when I first heard it, unlike Microcastle or Halcyon Digest

Reading interviews during this era where they're talking about eating insects and sacrificing
mice to satan or whatever and then actually listening to "Blue Agent" is enough whiplash to
make you hit the wall. However if all the songs on here were like Leather Jacket II and the
title track, i would probably be in tears,GOOD tears. Yes it's indie rock but the hard
hitters solidify them as this ambient punk frankenstein act. Despite the two wtf songs in the
middle, I find myself really attracted to this album sometimes and will sometimes confusedly
proclaim it to be better than Cryptograms (???). Lockett's track is fun and cutesy.

Noisindirock. I've always had trouble digging this band, and this record confirms my feelings: it's enjoyable and whatnot, but it rarely manages to feel exciting.

This is probably the best Deerhunter album. It's cohesive, chaotic and the only one that's consistently good. Some of the best songs 2013 left behind came from this mysterious, dark, and gloomy Indie Rock little masterpiece. Songs like "Pensacola", "Back to the Middle" and "Leather Jacket II" prove that the best Deerhunter is the one that knows how to rock the most. Takes a few listens but it's extremelly rewarding. In particular, I fell in love with "The Missing" instantly. That may happen to you with any song.
