Debaere's vocals made Heights for me - the instrumentation was good, but not groundbreaking; what
brought me back was the sheer blistering ferocity of the vocals. Monty just isn't up to Thom's standard in any
way; his voice sounds strained and lacks the intensity of his predecessor. Again, the music itself isn't
offensive, but nor is it special: in any way. Without Thom's vocals, there's no hook: no distinguishing
characteristic. I hate to say that one person made a band, but for me, the vocals were the centrepiece of
Heights' music - a centrepiece that no longer fits the bill. Don't bother picking this album up - one play on
Spotify should be enough to confirm its mediocrity.
