0.0 | fromtheinside | March 16th 13 | its a shame how much everyone is overstating this album. the reason its gripping everyone by the balls is because it reminds us why pop was fun in the first place. fuck the intricate tribal beats and the elongated outros. the reason this album rocks is because... well it literally rocks and jives and bobs and weaves and does everything that reminds us why we danced as kids and why we still can as adults. a real genuine 5 out of 5.

4.5 superb | Kronzo | August 6th 13 | This is easily Timberlake's best release so far. Sporting darker, more atmospheric cuts like "Tunnel Vision" and "Don't Hold the Wall", and tracks on the poppier side like "Suit and Tie" and "That Girl". This is probably one of the most epic "pop" albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

5.0 classic | c0nf1n3d | April 1st 13 | This was really tough. I was going to give it around a 4-4.5...but after listening to it enough...no other word comes to mind other than "classic." There's so much originality to be heard throughout this journey of an album. Whether it's the symphony-esque intro of "Pusher Love Girl", to the weird interlude in "Don't Hold the Wall", to the dance-groove in "Let the Groove In", to the utter-amazing ballad "Mirrors", finishing with the ambient "Blue Ocean Floor"; so many genres are covered throughout the album, whilst keeping in the R&B feel overall. Production is incredible, writing is incredible, vocals are incredible. Any complaints are nitpicks, and don't really detract from the experience. Most likely THE album of 2013; and we're not even at mid-year yet.

4.0 excellent | trane4miles | March 17th 13 | JT does something amazing with this album: he proves that pop music doesn't have to be shallow. Too often in the music community, music aficionados have a tendency to write off anything remotely catchy as dribble for radio listeners. And while that is often the case, just like any other genre, pop music can be deep, artistic, and ambitious. 20/20 Experience isn't your average radio garbage. It is pop music in the tradition of Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones as opposed to Justin Beiber and One Direction. JT's songs are both catchy and complex, and the production is richly layered.

4.5 superb | iGuter | March 12th 13 | The 20/20 Experience is a masterpiece in every way possible; a testament to artists who strive for perfection in their music. The album challenges audiences to remember a brisker and sophisticated time while adding to them. Aside from the fun and classy lyrics, this is a beautifully composed and produced album that's as inventive as its title. JT only builds himself up to earn loud and long standing ovations after each track ends.

4.0 excellent | Benlock | May 31st 13 | It is a significant improvement from the last album. 20/20 Experience is compiled with
colourful tracks that features the catchy tunes sang by JT's smooth vocals. Each of the
tracks surprised me in their own, unique way. An example of this would be the track
"Strawberry Bubble Gum" in which the smooth, R&B sentiment later changes in to a samba-like
vibe. In terms of JT's lyrics, although are not profound (mainly about romance and drugs),
they do make the songs to be frolic and bubbly. Overall, it is an enjoyable album that could
be considered as one of the best pop records of the generation.

4.5 superb | ILJ | March 15th 13 | When you write something off as probably being bad or way overrated, it's sometimes hard to admit that you're wrong. Such a scenario is happening as we speak with me and Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience.
I was fucking wrong, so wrong. In virtually every aspect, The 20/20 Experience delivers a pop album that has absolutely no right being this immediate, this enjoyable, and this goddamn smooth and sexy. Hyperbolic claims and long extended paragraphs about creative barriers being destroyed and the capacity of human intelligence aside, this album is beyond anything I anticipated. If nothing else, give it a chance, you just might find yourself in my postion; beyond surprised.

5.0 classic | IsildursBane44 | September 15th 20 | Production on this is insanely good. Although there are a few missteps, lyrics most definitely, (looking at you Suit and Tie) I don't think I've ever heard on pop record this engaging, inventive, and classic while also remaining fresh. I wish the second 20/20 was even half this good. Don't think JT will ever top this one.
Bump |
3.6 great | Erwann S. STAFF | September 23rd 19 | This is very nice. Not revolutionary by any means though: even though the instrumentation is colourful and the production is top notch , the songs are long just because he wanted them to be long, and this creates a certain dragging feeling throughout the album. Would be much better if all songs were in the 4-5 minute range. Apart from that, this is throwing bops after bops.
Bump |
0.0 | EcoChocolatacchi | May 7th 15 | SNL-star gets the album he long deserved. As much as I'm victim to the "female vocalist with an obscure collection of powerpop, r&b and hip hop beasts bandwagon" Seeing a male singer produce something this prolific is a nice change, because at a certain point everything on the radio can sound like a younger Britney Spears who hasn't made those life decisions...yet.
Bump |
3.5 great | AtThePinery | February 17th 15 | Though most of the bloated song lengths are unjustified, and it's far from perfect, the hooks and the grooves are just undeniable. Teetering on a 4 here..
Bump |
4.5 superb | Alabaster Jones | February 9th 15 | It's hard to believe that Justin Timberlake took seven years to make this. He's a multi-faceted guy, and what with his acting career and his great sophomore LP Future Sex/Love Sounds, people have been taking much more seriously than just "that guy from N*Sync" for a while now. But, if this is the result of seven years of work, then by all means, J.T., take your sweet time. He sounds very confident, but doesn't come off as narcissistic. He sings with a soothing and oftentimes beautiful voice, but never lets it become overbearing. The production on this thing is top-notch, and though a few of the songs stay a little past their welcome, this album is excellent RnB/pop. The lyrics here follow a pretty common theme: women. Still, there are none that are bad, and he honestly sounds like he's putting emotion into them when he sings them, "That Girl" being a fantastic example. The highlight of all this, of course, is the ending duo of the insanely catchy "Mirrors" and the smooth "Blue Ocean Floor." So, yes, the praise for this album is most certainly justified.

5.0 classic | sentyrunce | August 11th 14 | A pop album that will one day be looked back upon as a classic. It has all of the elements of pop that make it infectious, yet it has complexity and excellent production values to back it up
Bump |

2.5 average | RisingSun | January 9th 14 | Don't get me wrong; I've loved JT since the NSYNC days (sue me) and have enjoyed his previous albums. So I expected to love this album, but there are just too many silly metaphors in sleepily-paced songs that aren't enjoyable enough to justify their cheesiness or length. "Suit and Tie" is a fun danceable track, and "Mirrors," which sounds like it was transplanted from an entirely different album (FutureSex/LoveSounds, perhaps?), is the one track that manages to make a metaphor work and has become one of my favorite songs of 2013. The rest is surprisingly tiresome. So I downloaded "Mirrors," put it on replay, and left it at that.

4.0 excellent | SalteyBacon | May 26th 13 | Soulful and long songs, I think this direction is a good one. These songs are for parties, but as far as thinking this is a transcending album is a different story. Weak lyrics sometimes, and bad production at some songs.

0.0 | Mookid | March 19th 13 | Yes yes, cover your mouths and hold in the vomit because this album was surprisingly good. For a man that has been in a poor-quality boy band, Justin has remarkably improved since then and this album represents in almost one fell swoop. After all, how many contemporary pop artists do you know of that can write 8 minute pop songs? Not many, and this album will whack off any typical listener who has been susceptible to common 2-4 minute standard pop song. In short, though, every track here is delightful ear candy and will easily get your blood flowing.
