'I', rather unsurprisingly, sounds a hell of a lot like Immortal. Add to that Abbath's recent tenure in Motorhead cover band Bombers, and you've got a pretty good idea of what to expect here. Abbath is one of the more consistently interesting guitarists in modern metal, and doesn't let down with his usual assortment of thick, full and vaguely atmospheric riffs. While 'I' is something of a supergroup, (featuring Arve Isdal [Enslaved], King ov Hell [Gorgoroth] and Armagedda [ex-Immortal]) it's definitely Abbath's show, with his recognisable croak and guitar work dominating proceedings. While perhaps not entirely fulfilling, Immortal fans should get a lot of joy from this. Those new to Abbath should probably start with an Immortal record before getting to this one.
