This album is immensely good, and has quickly become one of my favourites, if not my favourite. It's so interesting and everything flows so well. I think the lyrics are amazing and really thought provoking. And the contrasts of the quiet and loudness that they seem to bring in to songs blows me away.

This is one of the most insanely good albums I have ever heard. Every single song has the peak moment that is one of the greatest moments in music. I love music where you know the singer is singing his heart out, and this is clearly shown. "Anything to numb...anything to encourage ignorance..." screams singer David Marion, in one of the great, most intense moments I have heard in music. This is lyrically and musically sound, very much so. One of my easiest 5s.

One of my favorite bands, and their best release. A tad more structured than previous releases, it blends the manic cacophony that defined past albums and combined it with a more mature sound. They experiment, but not to the point where the songwriting suffers. They utilize everything from monstrous riffs to eerie keyboards, and it works better for them than most bands attempting to do the same. Atmosphere coincides with heaviness in the spirit of a truly experimental band. Recommended Songs: "Drowning the Old Hag", "Mouth", and "...As a Result of Signals Being Crossed"

Blurb posted under the Secret Santa rec' contest by Tacos n' Stuff: This album should be set as a prime example of how to expand a signature sound without reaching over creative limitations or consistency interferences. In an analogy, The Always Open Mouth is like a perfectly aired-up balloon. All of the possible metalcore and post-hardcore influences are added to the thick air of its sound, but the balloon stays cleanly intact. Even for an album of these genres, the production is so damn raw. Maybe besides the drumming, every instrument, including vocals, is so diverse in ways made cleverly subtle due to the rawness of said production. The songwriting is excellent and the pacing is flawless. There are just a couple of nitpicks I have with a couple of the tracks and I don't think "Dog-Sized Bird" is that great. Despite that, this is one of the best albums of the new millennium and frankly one of the best I've ever heard. Skipping this is almost a crime. 9.5/10

In a sentence, this is a realistic vision of post-hardcore's evolution as it's members grow older. What is so mind blowing is the amount of accessibility spread across an album that's defined as experimental.

The human race is not always ordinary; at times, mankind becomes fueled by calculated insanity, thereby being unable to recollect both the past and the incorrigible future. The Always Open Mouth is a three-headed minotaur of an album boasting a tenaciously bitter atmosphere and stunning instrumentation, with Adam Fisher's vocals showcasing confidence and deliberate uneasiness above all other characteristics. Fear Before have put out an overall grandiose, if mildly harmful record pouring its contents into our veins.

Love this CD. I first heard about it from Tourette's Guy, and then saw it at a used CD store where I bought it for the fuck of it. At first I didn't know what was going on and didn't appreciate it too much. After finally cracking down and listening to it a few times on car rides, it became one of my favorite CDs. Very creative, very diverse, I only wish I could get into their other albums as much.

This album is suffocating in a good way. It smothers you in a blanket of fractured electronics, bottom heavy riffs, oddly melodic interludes, and then some. I don't know what to say about this. I was blown away when I first heard it. I was blown away the last time I heard it. A true enigma. You can't go wrong with any of these tracks.

The album flows flawlessly from start to finish. The overall atmosphere of this album is just breathtakingly dark, with lyrics such as "Their is a pill for every fucked up thought, and a cure for every fucked up child".rFBTMOF, proved with "The Always Open Mouth" that they have the talent to write a perfect album.

F**k. There need be no explanation for why this album is amazing. The riffs are amazing, the vocals are perfect (for the genre), and don't even get me started on the rest of the amazing-ness on this album. 4.8/5

An album that i truly am proud to have in my cd player constantly, and after so long.
I love this album to bits, i love how all the tracks float into each other. I dont mind the change in sound to their other album. It is just amazing, and the vocals are really cool. They totally fit in, you can hear so much emotion in it. The lyrics are as wonderful as ever, and i love the way the whole atmosphere of a song can change instantly.

Not all that great an album, it's too overdone for me. I'm gonna be honest though, I didn't exactly give this album much time, I was kinda only half listening to it while waiting for the Bleach website to work, and I was pretty pissed off with everything at the time ...apart from Bleach, who could ever get pissed off at that? Naruto on the other hand ¬¬
Oh and yeahh I realise this isn't an anime discussion board lol

Based solely on good reviews, I bought The Always Open Mouth. And I was not disappointed. I had never heard FBTMOF, but I did know that they had the coolest band name ever. This album is absolutely terrifying in places, mellow in others, and just plain weird all over the place. An epic in all senses of the word. And if you put the album on repeat, the ending and the beginning flow together really well, which pretty much blows my mind.
