From the amazing songs, to the Andy Warhol cover art, everything screams classic here. The album's more well-known songs like "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses" are downright classics, but there are no weak moments here, as even the deeper cuts such as "Sister Morphine" and "Dead Flowers" (one of my personal favorites) are very strong. During that era, The Stones could do no wrong and there's no better proof of that than Sticky Fingers.

"Brown Sugar" doesn't rock nearly as heavily as "Rocks Off", "Gimme Shelter", or "Sympathy for the Devil". Sad. "Sway" is highly intense and dreary. Exceptional in relation to this album's themes of loneliness, desperation and isolation. "Wild Horses" is heartfelt and intensely beautiful. One of the best songs on this album. Much quieter than most of their catalogue. "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" rocks hard but is unfortunately interrupted by a boring, lifeless instrumental session. "You Gotta Move" is on par with "Prodigal Son", "Love In Vain", and "Stop Breaking Down"in terms of blues-infused (and thus, Stones'-infused) energy and enthusiasm. "Bitch" is quite flat and therefore a dud. "I Got the Blues" is Jagger's song. Excellent in its dreariness. "Sister Morphine" doesn't do its namesake justice. A dud. "Dead Flowers" tries to be creative in its self-deprecation, but falls flat. "Moonlight Mile" is on par with "Sympathy for the Devil", "Ventilator Blues", "You Can't Always Get What You Want", and "Wild Horses" as one of the greatest Stones' songs ever written. Hypnotic. Dismal. Melancholic. Pleading. Perfect. An album that doesn't live up to its immediate predecessor nor successor. Still intense at times, though. Br- Zach

More rollicking than its two predecessors, Sticky Fingers mixes classic Stones rock 'n' roll with old timey homages and a touch of experimenting in other styles. Of the hits, "Brown Sugar" works as an example of the former and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" works as the latter; it is a phenomenal track, although its magic doesn't really begin until the 2:50 mark. "Wild Horses" is a decent country ballad. But it's the quality and earnestness of the deeper cuts that make the album, particularly "Sister Morphine", "Dead Flowers", and "Moonlight Mile".

One of the finest drug albums of the '70s, if not THE finest, 'Sticky Fingers' features the Stones sounding exhausted and jaded throughout, with weary, worn-in, shuffling pieces such as 'Sway', 'Wild Horses' and 'Moonlight Mile' capturing the soul-crushing grind of their hedonistic lives while 'Sister Morphine' and 'Dead Flowers' are two of the more powerfully nihilistic, nasty drug songs in their catalogue. In between, the chest-thumping grooves of the 'Can't You Hear Me Knockin'', 'Bitch' and the lascivious 'Brown Sugar' feature typically strutting performances from Jagger with tough, uncompromising dog-fighting from Richards and Taylor.
