They promised you a whole album of Pizza songs and they DELIVERED! Pun intended; what more can you expect?

HORSE is back a scant year after the release of The Mechanical Hand with the Pizza EP. The good news? It's
HORSE. The keyboards are in full swing here, serving up deliciously twisted melodies (check out the bridge and outro
of Crippled By Pizza) and walls-of-sound that serve as sonic backdrops to Dave Isen's fleet guitarwork. Band-wise,
everything's tight. The not-so-good? The songs here just aren't anywhere as good as their previous work. I mean
Pizza NIF is great, Werepizza and Antipizza rock, and the TMNT theme is absolutely classic, but the super-clean
production takes a lot of the aggression out of HORSE's sound, the drumming is off in parts (they've since kicked Eli
out), and David Isen's manic guitar work from The Mechanical Hand is nowhere to be found here, not to mention
the guitars are buried in the mix to the point that you can barely hear them. Oh yeah and Werepizza is too damn long
and doesn't really go anywhere. Maybe the lessened quality is because EVERY song is literally about pizza, but it
seems HORSE is taking an even more commercial tack this time around and I'm not sure that's a great idea. Hopefully
their new album (out in 2007) will be a bit better.

HORSE the Band have always had an abnormal sense of humor to balance out the seriousness of their first two albums, though whatever comedic value was there before is omnipresent for this literal joke of an EP. Pizza is quite enjoyable similar to the food it's centered around, but akin to the concoction in of itself, one can be unsure as to whether they desire more or grow weary after so much feasting. Dominos or Little Caesars is not enough, damnit! ...But how about that New York style?

THIS IS HORSE THE BAND's BEST WORK!!
if youre getting ready to listen to any other album then your wasting your time!
although this cd is only 5 tracks long, this is one of my favorite ep's of any band i like. the songs are well written, recorded nicely, and the cd even features a cover.
although horse the band has released other cd's that i have enjoyed, i think it is arguable as to whether they are a 'talented' band or not.
this, however, is a good cd. check it!

I really think the only way to sum up this album is the way Alternative Press did. Album get's a 5 for the concept, but a 1 for the execution. That averages to a three. The end.

A lame effort from an excellent band. I always knew HORSE the band for their originality and their difficulty to be categorized but this album is generic and boring.
