Well-known for reintroducing the Moog synthesizer to mainstream 90s rock, The Return of The Rentals has airy, new wave electro-pop hooks, sugary female backing vocals from Petra Haden, and a lo-fi space-age charm. The debut album by The Rentals is considered to be an indie-pop benchmark with the most notable track here being 'Friends of P.' because of its self-deprecating lyrics and incredibly catchy melody. Along with this I liked 'Please Let That Be You' and the opener 'The Love I'm Searching For'.

Friends of P remains an all time 90s crunchy indie/alt rock power pop classic, but there are some other gems on this one. Waiting, Please Let That Be You, and Sweetness and Tenderness are all great. Love the crunchy guitars and pulsating synths all over this thing. Really good stuff.
