I'll admit that this isn't really my genre, but it's been getting good reviews so I gave it a listen. Not impressed. Sounds like half a million other acoustic albums out there.

Mac DeMarco specializes in making slightly narcotized, hazy indie pop gems. On 2, he ups the ante at every turn from the solid if slightly uneven Rock & Roll Night Club, with clearer production values, better melodies, and an atmosphere on par with the best of his fellow lazy day contemporaries a la Real Estate, Ducktails, etc. Standouts include My Kind Of Woman, Ode To Viceroy, and Robson Girl.

I relisten to the album and their was a reason why i didnt remmember any of the song, bc its kindda forgetful. If it wasnt for Ode to Viceroy, Cooking up something good and freaking out the neighborhood, the album would have pretty much nothing. This Old Dog is a way better album but, its still a enjoyable listen nonetheless

Welcome to the jangle. The Slacker King delivers an album where the guitars are always jangly but never twinkly (it's thus no sadboi shit). The surf guitar and the added p s y c h make for a dynamic yet relaxed record. It's on the slower cuts though (My Kind of Woman, Ode to Viceroy) he shows his underlying pop sensibilities. All these elements, plus the nostalgic knack both on the cover and the overall aesthetic, help create an album that might not be timeless but that would undoubtedly please different generations. Plus, look at this goofy face. Chill music made by a chill dude to chill with chill bros. Chill.

Probably Mac's strongest collection of songs, front to finish. I love the twangy, washed out guitars and Mac's laid-back crooning. I also really enjoyed the dreamy atmosphere of the album. I still prefer TOD because of its stripped-back instrumentation and heartfelt lyrics, but this is a very worthy second.

Twang-centric alt-garage breeziness that is befitting for armchair-slouches or killing time on a suburban porch during good weather or just a plain ol' chill sesh, man -- and despite appearances, DeMarco is more than just a walking cigarette with no job. His guitar-intertwine of casual surf and gray afternoons with fun-n-oddball psych-flourishes, though treading towards sickeningly light-hearted at times, is never less than engaging. Can't quite say the same for the rather indifferent vox, or the rather indifferent overall ensemble for that matter -- a bit-o-vigor never hurt no one, right? More important than those trebly tones (maybe) is his girl: presumed inspiration for the only tune to attempt+approach beauty and summon an inner rough sketch-John Lennon, the goof-proof "My Kind of Woman". Definite inspiration and kinda-participant in the permanent-reversion-to-goof falsetto-serenade-ender "Still Together" -- if that kind of boldness isn't love, what is?
