Stupidly heavy deathcore - that ain't no compliment as the record basically is 35 minutes of chuggy chugs chugs with occasional dumb guitar solos. The vocalist is solid but does not stand out among the rest of the "good deathcore growler".

"Hate" is just another record full of violence, speed and hate from Thy Art is Murder, and this will always be very good. With an almost perfect discography as far as Deathcore is concerned, this band always matches all the hype imposed. Even in a super-boring record as "Holy War", the band managed to create good moments in flashes of little creativity. Listening to an album like "Hate" is to give credibility to a genre full of forgettable bands.

The newest deathcore gods prove that they can play lotz of the chugs, and do the double bass, and sound almost exactly like every other deathcore band you've ever hard. Innovation!

With this rating I have to come clean about a guilty pleasure of mine...I love a good skull crushing Godzilla sized break down. But there's a catch, it has to be unique, well executed, and can't interfere with the flow of the song as well. This catch generally stops most deathcore bands from gaining my fandom. Not Thy Art is Murder though. On their sophomore effort they create an engaging deathcore album which is a fun listen from start to finish which crushes all in its wake. While it does began to get a little monotonous towards the second half the closing two songs more than make up for it. Best songs: Reign of Darkness, Purest Strain of Hate, and Doomed From Birth.
