Neurosis return after five years to release Honor Found In Decay: an album that perfectly encompasses the
last twenty years of the band's sound. This isn't Neurosis re-evaluating their sound and building, this is
Neurosis taking inspiration from each of their studio albums post-Souls At Zero and crafting a fine amalgam
of everything that has made them a staple in the genre.

To no one's surprise, Neurosis make a damn great record. While not quite to the level of their last several "classics," Honor Found in Decay sits proudly within their discography as a truly solid piece of work.

While it has its moments ("My Heart for Deliverance," the end of "At the Well," "Bleeding the Pigs") overall Honor Found in Decay doesn't do much for me. The last three tracks in particular are pretty boring. I admire the atmosphere and instrumentation (the strings are awesome throughout) but the record just doesn't maintain my interest for its runtime.

The best way I can think of to describe this is as post-doom that uses doomy instrumentals to craft vast soundscapes. It is done fairly well, though I feel it would have been better served to shorten some of the songs.

At first I didnt much care for this album, then I had a really depressing night and gave it another shot when listening to music to get my mind off of my troubles. I realized my key to enjoying and fully appreciating Neurosis is similer to that of Crowbar: feeling like complete shit.
