Fevers and Mirrors isn't so much music as it is art. It's absolutely incredible the way Conor manipulates all the different facets of his trade to truly capture the essense and feeling of his compositions. Fevers and Mirrors covers an incredible amount of ground for a single album, and yet it's all pitted together very well. Even desipte the fact that this album has several hard to swallow qualities about it (i.e. Conor's voice, the dialogue at the end of "An Attempt to Tip the Scales" and at times the sound quality, such as in "When the Curious Girl Realizes She Is Under Glass"), this is a very accessible album that practically everyone can enjoy.

I don't mind the lo-fi acoustic part, its just that Conor Oberst is trying too hard to describe and convey emotions that aren't real.

This was my introduction to Bright Eyes in late December of 2003. I first heard about it from my friend Sarah M. and I knew immediately that I had to get it after she put "The Center of the World" on the first mix she ever made for me. The emotion on it is palpable and the flow of it makes it a perfect concept album of a terrrible break up and a heartbroken boy.
