If the rest of the songs on this album are as bad as the 2 already released then the album
deserves a 1 for pure wasted talent if nothing else. To go from TFoI to this crap is just
disgusting.
Edit: It's as bad as we all knew it would be.

No amount of flashy solos and melodeath riffing can make up for the fact that Phil "Autotune" Labonte wants the band to sound just like Five Finger Death Punch. A waste of your time, but you already knew that, right?

The album sounds that ATR are trying their best to preserve their A F O I sound while revisiting some of the TDH days of rawness. Music is not always SUPER HEAVY BRUTAL , at times one has to show some good balance of heavy shred-riffage blended with sensible melodic songwriting. This album could have been the best for ATR till date, but at times they try a bit too hard as if they have a point to prove. Clean chorus , singing may drive off some brutal loving listeners but In my opinion, it has come off pretty neat. Remember, it takes a minute to write off a band's hard work, but if you were to be given the same instrument/studio/rigs you may not even compose a mediocre jingle to attract a dozen of your own frendz. I did not even skip a song while listening to this album, must have album for people who like being good listener than useless critics.

A War You Cannot Win sees All That Remains at a crossroads in their sound, and the result is a mixed bag of metalcore songs that don't know if they want to be radio friendly or aggressive. Its a frustrating listen, really, because ...For We Are Many was a step in the right direction.

I think the main problem with this new album is that All That Remains simply do not know what to do with their sound anymore. They don't want to make TFOI part 2 but they also don't want to alienate all of their fans with a comepletely mainstream sound (they were in danger of doing that with Overcome). And instead they have done this. While not all bad a comeplete lack of direction and some absolutely terrible songs (stand up and what if I was nothing) ruin this album. The progression shown in FWAM is nowhere to be found here. This will be the last album I buy from this band.

Man...after defending these guys for the past two albums, this one really showed them taking a nosedive. This album is sloppy, formulaic, and a completely watered down version of their previous music. This is terrible stuff, with Down Through The Ages being the only truly enjoyable track on here. Even die-hard fans should stay clear of this release.

These guys have really gone downhill recently. They went from an amazing band mixing metalcore and melodeath to some sort of poor man's five finger death punch (who are ok at best). AWYCW sounds like a rushed hard rock album. A shame given the fact that they obviously have a lot of talent.

I really tried to like this album. It turns out this album is among one of the worst albums of all time, which I thought was impossible for a band with such a high-caliber as All That Remains. There are so many problems with this horrendous album I can't even discuss all of them without having a massive heart attack. I'll just sum it up with this statement: Phillip LaBonte's high-pitched throat screams are fucking irritating now. On "A Call To All-Non Believers", which has a terrible message behind it, amongst the unnecessary and random nonsense, Phil LaBonte lets out a really fucked up throaty scream that sounded like absolute shit. He lets out a scream like that on 5 other tracks, which are all the heavy tracks. It doesn't stop there. There's tons of other problems with this album that I can't talk about without having cancer. The only two songs I liked on this album are "Stand Up" and "Not Fading". Other than that, this album is the WORST metal album I've ever heard in the past 20 years, and the worst album of 2012. It's even worse than Hellyeah's Band of Brothers, which I thought was gonna take the cake for the year.

Album has it's moments, but overall the 2nd worst album in their library, This Darkened Heart being the worst. Go ahead, flame me...you can't compare Michael Bartlett to Shannon Lucas or Jason Costa. Bartlett held All That Remains back significantly, and Shannon Lucas's abilities are the large majority as to why Fall of Ideals was so great. This is why they replaced Lucas with someone just as capable if not better, and not someone who just holds the beat like Bartlett. Anyway, "Not Fading," Track 10, is in the top five ATR songs of all time. The composition of this song is emotional, desperate, hopeless, somber and tragic. When a song conveys mood and emotion independent of lyrics, that's when you know you have a gem. Asking Too Much and Sing for Liberty are great songs. A Call to All Non-Believers and What if I was Nothing are decent. Stand Up is OK, but somewhat annoying at times. Everything else is pretty much boring and unmemorable. Having a 20 second intro at track 6 is stupid, and Calculating Loneliness after the first 30 seconds is a bad attempt at trying to be Opeth. Still love them, but they are capable of so so so much more than what appears on this album. 3/5.

The unnecessarily autotuned clean vocals make the album sound dishonest. Overall, a really boring album. Songs like "Stand up" sound tired and uninspired, and is quite unfortunate, considering this band has clearly showcased before that they can make heavy and intense music.

Tried so hard to like this album, but couldn't. It also has just gotten worse over time. TFOI was incredible, Overcome was good, FWAM was incredible too, and now this is just so far below those. Its extremely disappointing. I'm totally for clean vocals too, just the guitar sucks comparatively, and the vocals are not catchy, not aggressive, and just weaker. Damn... Its fine, just not for ATR
