I am not the greatest fan of song-writing where persistent sweet harmonies tune out the melodies or a structure one could follow. Most of this album is build-up whose payoff is the same exact thing but louder and more overproduced. I suppose in that this album stands over all other Band of Horses' albums that at least it came before the others, so the formula was not yet overplayed.

Every song on this album sounds good to me. I love the sound of Band of Horse's first album. They soon lost it, but this album is special. The whole album makes me feel good.

Track Picks: The First Song/ Our Swords/The Funeral. The first half of the album is interesting,especially The First Song with it's interesting guitar, our swords with an emotional sound you can't quite put your finger on and The Funeral which is just about as poppy as the album gets. The album slowly descends into repetitive indie with fillers like the last track St. Augustine. The album is a decent start, but going by the first half improvement in the next album is possible!
