2.5 average | Crymsonblaze | October 24th 12 | Some great melodies, but why water down Carrabba's fantastically raw voice with so much pitch correction? Seems counter-productive.

3.0 good | Trey STAFF | January 13th 23 | I thought I’d hate this release. I hate Dashboard Confessional’s incessant whining, and I don’t particularly like this band’s debut album either (which also featured this vocalist… in case you can’t connect the dots). I also loved their last album with their previous vocalist, and the slick alternative sound that they were using. Well, it turns out that I had nothing to worry about. Slick alt. rock with a vocalist that somehow managed to keep his tears off the microphone.

2.0 poor | conquerstrife | October 13th 13 | Kind of crazy, I originally gave this a 4 but I was wrong. This isnt great, sure there are some good tunes here but the production kills it. Carrabba lost it. This is an attempt to latch onto the trend of auto tune emo rock. Carrabba has some good vocal range but his range doesn't extend to bad trends. The Moon is Down is an emo classic, this is a post-hardcore autotune mess.

2.5 average | MenosDelScorcho924 | November 4th 12 | As much as I wanted this album to be a success it just fails about 60% of the time. There are some really great
numbers on here (mainly So Cold, Rescue Trained and the title track) but it's mostly just filler. I believe I read
in a rumor that they were originally going to put out a reunion EP. In retrospect that might have been a
fantastic idea. And in regards to the auto-tuning, his vocals sounded pitch perfect live at the show I saw them
at a week ago, so yeah chalk that up to another bad thing. And why is one of the most interesting songs on
the album, "A System of Symmetry", so truncated? It seriously could have been a great album highlight but
instead just feels tacked on. There are some highlights but indeed they are few and far between on this
record. Save some change and just grab: rSo Cold, Rescue Trained, Staring Down the Sun, Penny Black,
Engines and Janie (just because it's the closest you'll get to a DC/FSF collaboration). So yes, practically just
HALF the album is worth listening to! Instead save the money and go see them live where they're performing
all of the old stuff with most of the GOOD songs I mentioned above.

4.5 superb | c0nf1n3d | October 26th 12 | Does anyone else find it ironic that Further Seems Forever signs to Rise Records, and there are auto-tuned
parts in the album? Alright, now that I got that joke out of the way, let's continue. Honestly, this is the best
thing to happen to music this year. 'With age comes maturity', and Penny Black definitely shows it for
everyone in the band. Everyone brings their A game to the table, and each song contrasts from the
other. Auto-tune is used for effect, but in some songs. Others, there is a strange flanged/layered vocal
process going on. "So Cold", the opening track is a tremendous song, and other great ones are "King's
Canyon", "Janie", "Way Down", and "System of Symmetry." I have a strange feeling that this album might go a
bit unnoticed, but highly regarded years down the road. As of now, my choice for album of 2012.

3.5 great | StrizzMatik | October 22nd 12 | Great album. Reminiscent of a more mature The Moon Is Down. Carraba sounds fantastic.
