4.0 excellent | Dev518 | July 1st 12 | There are a lot of good ideas at work in Icarus the Owl's sophomore album. The unique blend of pop-punk, technical instrumentation, and soaring vocals makes this an album that deserves a shot. Unfortunately, the technicality can often work against the album as the vocals, guitar, and drums often clash with each other, making the listen a little jarring and awkward at times. In the end, the album's positives manage to power it through its shortcomings, whether its through sheer technicality or genuinely catchy moments.

0.0 | Have you tried jamming Helcaraxe? CONTRIBUTOR | October 20th 17 | This is absolutely the most fun I've had with a pop punk (?) album. There is bouncy guitar riffs, somewhat technical and innovative drum patterns and soaring vocals galore off this album. It's simply as vibrant and exciting as an album gets.

5.0 classic | 3waycrash | January 24th 17 | Their debut saw Icarus the Owl playing with their sound, but with their follow-up album they define it. This album is filled with great tapped guitar riffs, technical musicianship, and catchy vocal hooks along with better mixing and proper production for the band. Everything is fine-tuned and refined here making for an impressive and catchy album.

3.5 great | LifeAsAChipmunk | July 8th 12 | They definitely have an interesting sound - combining different ideas such as a post-hardcore/alternative guitar work with post-hardcore/pop punk vocal stylings. It is interesting and works surprisingly well. The vocal work in a sense it reminds me of Panic!'s debut where the instruments were rather good but the vocals occupied spotlight much too often. My main nitpicks are that I'd prefer if they expanded on their instruments, switch up the structures every once in a while, create and set up the mood more effectively. The band is certainly technically proficient, but it becomes somewhat difficult to tell behind the vocals.

3.5 great | Eclecticist | July 4th 12 | Okay so this album is pretty good but the instrumentation isn't as fantastic as everyone here says. Bands like Children of Nova, Terminal, Carousel Kings, InMe, and Letlive have all released albums recently that are equal or better than 'Love Always, Leviathan'. So unless everyone here is listening to absolute garbage, Icarus The Owl have achieved the current standard for pop punk/post-hardcore music.
