First WC album i got through start to finish! Band has very clearly stepped their game up. WC but faster, harder, more death-metal orientated, everything I wanted to hear from them this time around! 1/5

In one word, Crushing! this album shows how they've grown as a band. I wasn't sure what to expect after hearing 'section 8' and 'hate creation' for the first time but after listening to just the first couple songs i knew it was going to be a heavy as balls album and it is. Better than their last and definitely progressed a hell of a lot since the somatic defilement. in my opinion, whitechapel just get better and better with each release. Not to even mention Phil's vocals, fuck me!!! the man is a machine, easily one of the top deathcore/death metal vocalists out there.

Whitechapel have never been the most inventive of bands, sticking to the generic deathcore genre for their first two releases and then shifting into a very sub-par style of death metal for A New Era Of Corruption but this is arguably their worst effort to date. Whilst the band has grown in their technical proficiency massively, the songs are too drawn out and by the half-way mark the riffs seem to blend into one and just become dull. For every strong point the album has, such as Hate Creation, there are a tonne of really bad points to it, including the fact that every member of this band seems to be creating a mish-mash of noise that doesn't fit together and then just getting vocalist Phil Bozeman to make a noise over the top of it, despite the fact that his performance is at least tolerable.

Whitechapel have grown a lot over the past few years, but in this case, growth is not equal to a crescent in quality. While their sound remains very listenable, with this album they reduced themselves to a blatant, somewhat colorless average Deathcore riff fest. The transitions are a bit too simple, the sound overall flows nicely but it's way more linear than the band's past releases, making it a poor experience for their early followers. The Death Metal influences are growing more evident, while their breakdown vein is mostly drying. Nonetheless, it's a solid effort. Heavy, moody and balanced. Just not the Whitechapel every Deathcore fan will be looking for.

Whereas most self-titled releases signify a band on the decline, Whitechapel show the
band at their strongest thus far. The biggest difference between this and previous albums is
the variation; each and every song has its own easily discernible identity, which is
especially a feat given the fact that they are still firmly rooted in the deathcore genre.
The over-reliance on breakdowns has been replaced by interesting leads and the emergence of
piano on a few songs, most notably on the penultimate track "Make It Bleed". The brief solo
in "Section 8" is just one more example of quite a few that point to Whitechapel
incorporating subtle influences to stand out from the pack. Unfortunately, there are also
some sophomoric lyrics that make this seem much more juvenile than the actual songwriting
would suggest. As it stands, this is a heavy dose of deathcore done correctly, with a
sprinkling of different influences and balls-out heaviness.

A large improvement from their previous albums; breakdowns are often swapped with a solo or a melodic lead that ensures that it doesn't feel like the same song is being repeated. The riffing in this album has improved since their previous releases, which really showcases the band's potential. The only major downside to this album is that the lyrics are still juvenile and at times immature (they are reminiscent of an angst-ridden teenager during his high-school years), otherwise this is a solid release that signals a slight shift in their musical style and their want to evolve.

This is the first Whitechapel album I've picked up. I listened to Section 8 from the Recorrupted EP and I knew that I would enjoy listening to it. I was pleased to find out that the whole album is a lovely masterpiece of hate, hate, AND HATE. It flows together, the guitars are spot on, the vocals are well done and the lyrics are frightening and brutal. If you need something to make you scream and hate the world around you, this is it!

I've been a diehard fan of Whitechapel for some time, and while I prefer This Is Exile for nostalgic reason this is clearly WC's best effort. It's more cohesive than ANEOC (which I never quite got into), and it's not as breakdown heavy as the first two. One of the best of the year by far. Glad to see these guys get the praise they deserve.

Never have been much of a Whitechapel fan, but they really stepped up their game even more on this album. The vocals have progressed once again like in each album, and for once each song isn't too similar to the last one. It's not absolutely riddled with mindless chugging, and there are some surprisingly good solos on here that help with this. Definitely taking the strides they need to, Whitechapel has now gained a new fan in me.
