If there was a guitar tone of the year award, Riala would win it hands down.

It's pretty hard to believe this was self-produced, because this has some of the best production of any screamo record out there. That guitar tone is absolutely magnificent and perfect in every way for Suis La Lune's style of screamo. Riala is the group's most melodic work, as well as being their most memorable and catchy. The band themselves claim these songs as "complex pop" masquerading as screamo, but it's a bit deeper than that. Riala is also the band's most evocative and passionate record, going a bit against the grain with the shift into less chaotic songwriting. Every song here is one-hundred percent top-tier Suis La Lune, being some of the best songs ever written in this post-rock-influenced style. The lyrics are somewhat primitive, but consider this: Swedish is their first language, and thus, any English they speak is quite simple. In a way, these words are just pure emotion; saying what needs to be said without any superfluousness or melodrama. All of this makes Riala the crown jewel of Suis La Lune's discography, and as such it's one of the best screamo albums ever put to wax.

The more I listen to this band the more I love them. They didn't have a lot of impact on me until last year, but damn now they hit hard. And yeah, the guitar tone on this one is glittering.

If you asked me what record has made the biggest impact on my adult life as a music lover I would give Riala as my answer without hesitation. This is one of the most gorgeously composed and beautifully written albums of all-time. That it isn't hailed as an emo classic is simply a musical crime.

Gave this album a second chance after hearing it through proper headphones. The intricate guitars playing off one another and the subtle changes in pacing give this album a positive look. The distorted/clean guitars and screeching voices come out much clearly before. Note to self, never listen to full length albums though Mac speakers... So many listening experiences gone to waste.

I really love a lot of the ideas on this album. Specifically the trumpet sections, which is why I bought it. But
some parts really rub me the wrong way. Some of vocal parts really annoy me and take away from the music.
Really only on the track "Hands Are For Helping", it makes me cringe. Maybe I was prepared for ALL THE
EMOTIONS. But overall it's a very pulled together sounding record with a lot of interesting musical ideas and
textures. I will see if it grows on me.
