The typical story of my east coast rap listening experience. Awesome lyrics, not feeling the beats or the actual rapping. Still a great album, just not for me. Maybe for you, though. 3.3/5

Despite the great lyrics from Ghost, RZA, GZA and Rae, this is far from my favorite Wu-release. Too many useless skits, wack guest appearances from none-wu-members (including Cappa) and shitty beats. If this is the best 2nd round Wu album, then im probably not gonna pick up the rest. Instead I'll bump Ironman some more.

Predicted a lot of that glammy string-soaked, uh, fame-rap(?) that would saturate the 2000s, but as it tends to go with these kinds of precursors, this is a lot better than the rest. It helps that there's some really raw stuff too (Stroke of Death is minimal and grimy even by the standards of 36 Chambers). But really, it's all about Ghost's sudden weirdness--he's like a rap version of James Joyce or at least Mark E Smith at this point.
