Taproot's Gift was released in 2000, somewhere in the middle of the nu-metal frenzy. Its an album that has moved under the radar, given that bands like System of a Down, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit were dominating the genre. Vocally, Stephen Richard is the closest to Staind's Aaron Lewis I have ever heard to date, although a Jonathan Davis (Korn) reference can be made for various moments as well. There is a sufficient amount of growling and screaming for an nu-metal album and the topic of depression is the underlying theme of most tracks here. Recommendations: "?gain & Again", "1Nite Stand", "Smile", "I-Revised Radio Mix".
