| Orb its a good phoenix
| Mister Twister Nice avatar, just going out on a whim to guess you got it from the Through the Flood video is was in?
| Pennywise_M Hey man, is there any possibility you could find me this album? I've looked all over and all i seem to encounter is Deluxe Editions of their first full length, which brings remixed versions of the EP but thats not what i wanted. So yeah, don't bother too much if you can't anyway. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=106744
| Pennywise_M Ah, np mate. If you can't access it just go to our bandcamp page: http://elisionofanimus.bandcamp.com/Thank you very much! :)
| Pennywise_M Hey micro, long time no talk! I see you've been pretty active around here, good stuff. Hey man i'd like you check my band. I think it could fit your taste to an extent, so yeah. Feel free to pass it, but also feel free to listen and speak up! Listen/dl it free here: https://www.facebook.com/ElisionOfAnimus
| Uranium s*** idk man, I would say probably their first album, Deloused just because that's the one people seem to love the most. It's a good starting record because they haven't got all that weird yet. They get more weird as they go and that could be a good thing if you like the noises and atmospheres they produce. I think they reached their pinnacle at Amputechture. It's epic as hell. I wouldn't start off with at first though because it may be too much wankery for a first time listener.
| Wizard Life is insane, wish I had more time around here.
| silentpotato still havent gotteen round to dl'in anymore nay :[
| SgtPepper Yeah, I know I him. I like Indian music myself. I hope you like Brooklyn Raga Association, they're album was really great in my opinion. Very spacey and pensive.
| SgtPepper If you mean like Indian/Raga influenced music check this out: brooklynragaassociation.bandcamp.com/ But if you meant like Asian-styled jazz fusion, I'd say look into this: youtube.com/watch?v=hLgjMBg5Exo. If you want more let me know and I'll try to find some, cheers, man.
| SgtPepper Oh, nice. Birds Of Fire is great. The Mahavishnu Orchestra get into some really heavy jams, that I think you'd dig very well. Their first album is better in my opinion, I'd say look into that one as well. Cheers, mate.
| SgtPepper I could give you more if you'd like later tonight, when I have more time. I'm glad you're getting into the genre though, it's nice people appreciating jazz around here. Cheers, man.
| SgtPepper I'd say Return To Forever is a good place for psychedelic jazz fusion. Try Where Have I Known You Before, Romantic Warrior and No Mystery. Since you said you liked Bitches Brew, I'd say go with The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Tony Williams Lifetime, Frank Zappa's jazz albums as well, they're kind of on that similar jazz-rock vein.
| CaptainDooRight dam I'd have to compile a list bro, would take some time cuz my info is on my laptop but PaperbackWriter is the perfect dude to go to for psych jazz fusion, he's the master hands down, but try return to forever for now
| CaptainDooRight sweet man! feel free to rate it if u want, ill b changing the release date to 4/15/13 instead of 5/1/13 just so when Paperback reviews it it'll have a chance of a feature
| CaptainDooRight album is done: http://trvth.bandcamp.com/album/black-horse-plague
| Wizard Never heard of Archspire? Should I?
| MoosechriS I think one or two of them are, the gorguts one i just got was all on one disc though.
| Wizard I own almost everything by Nadja on cd or vinyl and even though I didn't really think too highly of their latest album, I still ended up buying it. I've met Aiden and Leah in Toronto, happened to see them in an awesome cd store. Cool as **** people and let me tell you, I bowed to them. They're one of my all time favourite bands.
| Wizard Right on, I'll give it a listen. And for the record, I love good tech death which is hard to find.
| Wizard That's gotta be worth something. I've never heard of that before.
| Wizard And I would take that 5/5 rating for Fas - Ite, Maledicti, In Ignem Aeternum and put it on Veritas Diaboli Manet In Aeternum. That is their best work to date and it's an E.P.
| Wizard Confusing production values and songwriting are the best way to measure intelligence around here. I will read the review when I get a chance. Also, check out Ludicra members next project called VHOL. Heard it was awesome. You know Ludicra broke up a year ago?
| Wizard It's tied with their best, Swarth. Truthfully, they've found a middle ground with their sound but I don't know why people say this is their most accessible album, nothing about it is accessible. If they mean the sound is clearer, than sure.
| Wizard Dude, that Eight Bells album will grow on you hard. And trust me, enjoy life in school for the time being, no matter how stressful you think it gets.
| Wizard The realities of life are stressful but other than that, always on the lookout for great music to get me through. Yourself?
| Gnocchi Easy, listen to music - than have opinions, turn opinions into 600 words, proofread, submit
| Gnocchi Thanks dude, and if you're digging Portal, try Impetous Ritual
| gorebukkake waddup homie! Loved your review of nourishing the spoil
| Gnocchi Tis good to feel appreciated every so often : ] thanks
| Gnocchi Sure dude, scratch my back..... you know the rest : ]
| Wizard I wish I had the time for it. Pump out so more quality reviews.
| Wizard Time to go buy a cassette player, worth every penny!
| Wizard Was not worth the $25-30 you're going to end up paying. I found a couple Paysage cassettes on ebay for less than that.
| Wizard I just got my copy in the mail (probably the first actual "buyer" in the world to get their official copy). Order that s*** the moment Profound announced the presale off their website.
| silentpotato oh dude that album is the epitome of grade 12 summer for me. too bad their follow up wasnt nearly as good. apparently they are working on a new album tho
| silentpotato lol i know i know im ****ing s*** man i still havent forgot just you know, life. and **** yeah man glad you got on that cold vein is in my top 5 hip hop albums ever easy
| demigod! just a reminder to try n hook me up with Blasphemys made Flesh when yer not so hungover ;)
| Wizard It's too long, you're write. However, the subtle nuances that pop up through the entire disc makes it a worthwhile listen.
| Wizard They completely went a different root on that album. I love the mixture of post-metal and folk which has never been done before.
| Wizard And good to see you loving Indesinence, album grew on me a whole hell of a lot.
| Wizard I can't help you there since I don't buy into merch. Just save your money and spend it on music.
| Wizard Onward to Golgatha, Diabolic Conquest, Immortal Nazarene...all of those are ****ing top notch dm.
| Wizard Yes they do and you can still pay for albums without blowing your bank account.
| Wizard I would just pay the $3 for their E.P.'s on their Bandcamp page. Actually, I found their first E.P. in West Edmonton Mall June. That's the only time I've been out west. Pretty boring landscape if you ask me hahaha. I ****ing loved it out there tbqh.
| Wizard Even if you're not into thrash, they tend to swing towards progressive metal territory more than anything else. By the way, where in Canada do you live? London, Ontario is where I'm at.
| Wizard You should check out Dimensional Hatross and Nothingface by Voivod too. If you like thrash, I would be so bold in saying I enjoy them more than Slayer's most important releases. And a 3.5 means I got my head banging to it but it's not unique. Still means greatness ; ).
| Wizard And I liked Finsterforst but they're essentially Moonsorrow minus the stunning dynamic shifts and crazy blast beats that come out of nowhere. I would take your 5/5 rating and give it to Moonsorrow, especially V: Havitetty. Who knows though, I may enjoy it more with future listens.
| Wizard Believe it or not, Voivod is my top album so far. I'm amazed at how tight they are after this many years.
| silentpotato haha i doubt i will. that would mean i would have to start uploading tonnes of s***. which is unlikely. but if i do i will definitely let u know
| Wizard And nice to see someone else enjoying Vaura, awesome band.
| Wizard Their s/t is their best one and Dimensional is awesome too.
| silentpotato if i had invites id give u one but im a s*** user so i have none
| silentpotato there have been maybe a total of 10 albums i havent been able to find on there the entire time ive been using it. and thats just me looking for REALLY REALLY REALLY obscure s***. so yeah it basically has it all
| silentpotato id just send u the link but its off a site you dont have access to
| silentpotato nah dude ive got it lol. just havent dl'd yet cuz im super backed up
| silentpotato yo dude sorry it took me so ****ing long apparently i dont read well, u were asking for ritual ix which i dont even actually have, i only got abyssolute transfinite. but ive been meaning to look into ritual ix and i know i can acquire it so once i dl it ill send it to u
| Wizard And get your ass over to Hydra Head and take advantage of some of those deals.
| Wizard Portal - Swarth, Ludicra - The Tenant, Castevet - Mounds of Ash (my favourite), Krallice - 3 cd bundle (awesome price), VASAELETH ? Crypt Born
| Wizard I have it on my list ; ).
| Wizard Because it's a typical post-metal album. Salvation and Highway are the only albums worth your time from CoL. Isis and Neurosis rule the genre.
| Wizard Is that a band name or album name?
| Hawks I don't have a link anymore, but I'm sure you can find one that works on Google. Just search the blogs.
| ProfessorVeerappan yea guess ill do the same still the track gives a little continuing feelits just that they are speaking s*** though its cool you listen good stuff man.....
| Wizard I've never heard of them, what do they sound like?
| Wizard Everything is Fire dominates hard and I felt Destroyers is like a carbon copy of that album except a touch boring in some areas. If you ever read that Destroyers is better, they're dumb.
| silentpotato im pre busy atm but when i get a minute i can upload and send to you if you'd like, just hit me up a reminder
| Wizard Check out Thou's Summit, awesome sludge/ doom.
| Wizard That's one of the top 3 Nadja albums in my mind, has such a sweet Godflesh feel to it. Nadja is another band you have to look into.
| Wizard That YOB album is weak, go for the first 3 albums. And don't forget to look through their older stuff, all amazing.
| Wizard Pretty much their whole catalogue plus anything kicking around their distributed items. Chris Bruni is the ****ing man when it comes to metal.
| Wizard You said you were Canadian, right? Go look at Profound Lore's webpage and that's where I order a ton of s*** for $10 and free shipping.
| demigod! thanks man, nice profile picture by the way
| Wizard If you're in the mood for some really cool black metal, check out my latest dig Aluk Todolo. ****ing awesome atmospheric, kraut rock band.
| Wizard I actually couldn't and when I did from Mediafire, it wanted a stupid code which I couldn't find. I just went onto Amazon, held my breath that it was good and clicked order. Sometimes random buys rule and that one in particular ruled face. I feel like a idiot for never checking them out before.
| Wizard I don't, I write my own music. I can't stand making music with other people.
| Wizard Enjoy it as a hobby for the time being and then see when high school is done. Also, please stick around here for a while, you're a damn good user.
| Wizard Majesty and Decay is def my favourite despite popularity towards "Close to a World Below". Everything by Immolation and Enslaved rules for the most part.
| Wizard Order everything off Seventh Rule Records (or whatever record label they're on).
| Wizard I guess I'm the minority once again with that album hahaha. Axe to Falls diversity and guest appearances really made that album shine for me. My other favourite by them is No Heroes.
| Wizard It was good but nothing special, definitely a step down from Axe to Fall.
| MeatSalad i dunno man I mean you only have WYWH at a 4 can we really be buds???
| YankeeDudel Check out the similar artists on their Last FM page.
| Wizard And the whole album flows together so much better than anything else in the bands discog.
| Wizard Dulcinea is the best track the band has ever written plus that was the album where I feel in love with Isis. I do love Panopticon alot though.
| CaptainDooRight I don't celebrate but thanks bro and I hope you're having a gd time with your fam and friends m/
| Wizard I manage a greenhouse and we belong to a group of greenhouses around Canada and we happened to have our meeting out there.
| sixdegrees thx man, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
| sixdegrees grindcore with lo-fi, sludgy production, they remind a bit of Insect Warfare.
| Wizard I was at a conference in Edmonton this past June, love your province!
| CaptainDooRight sup bro, im on vacation out in belize with the family right now, been here for about 6 days already and will be for about another 6, beautiful place bro, this is my second time being here. i have limited internet access which is why ive been off sput for a while, but whats good with you brotha maine
| Wizard I live in London Ontario, where are you from?
| Wizard Are you a Canadian? I payed that too! Awesome album.
| Wizard Hahaha thank you dude. But I have to admit, I learn from the greats who show me s*** that blows my mind.
| Wizard Wow, you're probably one of the only people on this site to say something positive about my opinion on metal. Thank you, means alot.
| Wizard The reason I like Origo so much is becasuse it sounds like nothing at all, I dare you to try and make comparisons. I seriously think it's the most unique piece of modern metal and has yet to be topped.
| Wizard Origo is one of my all time favourite albums so that should tell you something. They went way off the prog deep end with Lazarus Bird.
| CakeWithCream idk about improvement, it's more or less archspire which as we both know, is not a bad thing at all haha
| CakeWithCream have you seen that new song Plague of AM they put up on their youtube channel? what'd you think of it, i dig it a lot
| RetroSpective same here. i can listen to dm pretty much any time but nothing beats good black metal when in im in the right mood. especially during the winter, throw on some burzum catch a buzz and zone out in that atmosphere mmm
| Wizard I'll be quite honest, there wasn't much to be woo'ed by. However, check out my nu-metal list if you're interested and I bet you will be pleasantly surprised.
| RetroSpective nah (this is ins), i been writing some solo stuff lately though. just messing around on my keyboard. btw what happened to your ratings?
| Wizard Hahahaha I love how the younger generation has taken a liking to newer Deftones and scoffs at older Deftones. Truthfully if you care to hear the truth about Deftones past two albums, they simply try to cover up their nu-metal riffage with boring shoegazey alt-metal atmosphere and try to pass it off as unique.
| CaptainDooRight Thanks for your interest bro. I have one lp under 'trvth' and one lp and one ep under 'crevice', the download links are in the band page here on Sputnik, and on the soundoff section. And currently I have new track up for my new lp under the trvth bandcamp page. Enjoy :]
| CaptainDooRight good to know I've always been curious about it, ill prolly and up checking it out eventually
| CaptainDooRight tired as fuk right now, gonna crash hard. How's the journey of life bro
| Wizard I used to listen to everything metal but it became more refined over time.
| Wizard I'm guessing you didn't grow up in the nu-metal era?
| DecentCorn ya shining was good but a 4 is a high ranking to attain and i just didnt feel they met the 'criteria' per se
| eternium I liked the music itself but for some reason it felt dull and boring to me after just a couple of songs. I don't know what it is, especially since I love other bands that are similar.
| Wizard And "I" by Meshuggah is the best damn thing that band has done, bump the rating.
| Wizard I love the Deftones, just not their last two piece of s*** albums. I would start at Around the Fur, a nu-metal classic if you're into that. My problem with them now is that they try to hide behind all this post-shoegaze alternative bulls*** when really, they're still nu-metal through and through. I laugh when I read people say things like "I hate nu-metal but I love the Deftones".
| FrozenVain You write good soundoffs to badass albums and therefore you are cool.
| CaptainDooRight http://www.sputnikmusic.com/profile.php?memberid=[username goes here]
| Wizard Tbqh, I'm glad they're not like the Deftones or BtBaM. This site turns good bands into ****s.
| CaptainDooRight I'm way down for psy trance now and then, reverend724 has some gd sput lists for it
| CaptainDooRight jus jammed some unholy matrimony, way sick, jammin some causa sui right now. Bout to blaze a mini bowl, what's the sheez wit u bro
| Wizard It's not a joke, they're are a highly regard black metal band that can do no wrong ; ).
| TheNotrap Sorry for the late feedback man. I don't own Once Was Not CD. Try http://www.rdio.com/artist/Cryptopsy/. You only need to register.
| CaptainDooRight there really is a band called Abhor, but also there is an inside joke too that a few know about. But yeah they live videos on YouTube as well
| CaptainDooRight hmm have u tried filestube? That's one of the main sources but sometimes things get taken down but when I get on my laptop ill check it but that's really the main source I know of. But again a lotta people got their music before everything started getting taken down. There are a few tricks tho like using acronyms and band name and year instead of album name
| CakeWithCream hahah **** yaaaaaaaa stoked to see what their next album is gonna be like
| Crysis Technical really isn't my style. Demilich's Nespithe is technically impressive, as is Ulcerate's work.
| CaptainDooRight didn't have a chance to get on my laptop so ill try to find u a link maņana
| Shuyin oh hes real http://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Jamie_Saint_Merat/6362 theres some info that he had other bands before joining Ulce but i cant find any of the songs so i cant tell you if they're good or not. dude is a beast anyway m/
| Shuyin that drummer is inhuman
| CaptainDooRight oh bro oh shii, they're such a sweet band with drums that are god-like, i like their newest best although everything is fire is heavier
| CaptainDooRight good for you bro, ive never smoked cigarettes, all i do is the ganj maine, but good for you bro, keep it healthy hard
| DarkNoctus antithesis drags less for me but then some people say the opposite, try it out!
| Cygnatti metal has never been my favorite genre, I certainly enjoy some of the big names like atheist or megadeth, but still. I plan on getting into metal later on but I'm focusing on hip-hop and post punk for now.
| Insurrection hah yeah its great. not as good as some of their other stuff but the instrumentation is fantastic as always
| Insurrection https://www.dropbox.com/ just gotta dl it make an account and youre set. no problem man
| Insurrection i dont think so, the file is too big cause i have it in 320kbps. just make a dropbox real quick, its free and takes like 2 minutes then i can just send it over
| Insurrection hm idk how id go about doing that. i dont want to get arrested or anything lol. actually do you have dropbox? cause i could just send it through there
| CaptainDooRight sup bro, sorry man i don't even own that album, i'd rec check filestube or zippyshare, i can't access those sites while im at work tho but if its not there you may wanna check one of the well known users who've rated the album and see if they can upload it for you
| silentpotato Gonna include some sludge and weird stuff too; Dark Buddha Rising-Abyssolute Transfinite, Boris-Feedbacker, Earth-Hex: Or Printing in the Infernal Method, Nadja-Radiance of Shadows, Om-God Is Good, Rorcal-Heliogabalus, Corrupted-Paso Inferior, Natural Snow Buildings-The Dance of the Moon and the Sun, Khanate-Capture and Release, SunO))) and Boris-Altar, Black Boned Angel-Bliss and Void Inseparable, ASVA-Presences of Absences, Barn Owl-The Conjurer, The Body-All the Waters of the Earth Turn To...
| Wizard Anything resembling screamo/ post hardcore is a no-go for me, I just personally hate those genres.
| wacknizzle No problem man, I hope you enjoy it. I like sharing good jams. =)
| Wizard Dude, I wish that Shining band would release something soon, Blackjazz is amazing. Thanks for the rec though.D
| Pennywise_M It worked. Damn, you're the man. Thank you so much bro!
| silentpotato really chill trip hop/dream pop ala goldfrapp or cocateau twins mixed with some dj shadow or massive attack style stuff
| Pennywise_M Through the Eyes of the Dead - The Annihilation Of Expectation. Seriously man, i tried everywhere, i did found the m4a version of it but i really needed the mp3 version to be able to carry it around on my cell. it would be rad if you could try to help with it. But dont bother too much seriously, be at will. If you find the time, ill be ever thankful bro.
| MO man I love jazz **** yea, one of my lists covers some solid Polish jazz musicians you should give a shot, all great, specifically Stankooh and Meshuggah review is up ;)
| MO shiii it's really funny you mention it, since I'm currently writing a review for the '02 nothing and then was going to follow it up right after with a review of the remastered, ha crazy, but yes expect both in the next week or so dood m/
| Crysis No problem, hope you like it. Nadja is great too.
| Crysis I'll upload mine give me a few minutes
| Crysis Check out Deep Mountains if you are in the mood for some more Chinese bm.
| Crysis I have heard Afterimage of Autumn and to be honest I wasn't a fan of it at all.
| Pennywise_M http://isohunt.com/torrents/Cryptopsy Once Was NotBro im at work, still i looked everywhere, all direct link dls are unavailable it seems. The pirate bay and isohunt have that album for dl but no seeds. The link i put here is for their discog, and has some seeds. Last resort stuff for ya i recon, but thats what i could find. You should get like uTorrent and start going for torrents too! :-P Hope it helps man, keep in touch!
| MO hmmm I don't really have links I can send you, I just use torrents. the main search engine I use is torrentz.eu hope that helps
| MO Hell yea man, both versions are classics but the re-released edges the original a bit because of how much heavier the extra string makes the overall sound. So much more massive. Nothing is just perfect, makes you headbang like a mother (moreso than any other album I know of). Good on ya bro keep it metal.
| Crysis Much better than Passion, and probably the best album they've released yet. It's like they took everything that was good on In the Constellation and amplified it.
| Pennywise_M Seed rates are pretty good, but ya know how it is, it also depends on the popularity of the band itself. .rar usually gets the job done yea, but you dont always know the bit rates and that.Anyway, its cool if you wanna go torrent hunting, its focused on what your pie chart indicates your tastes to be like haha. Stay metal mate!
| Pennywise_M I usually can get my stuff together easily, but this one was hard as hell! Thanks man. Also, i usually look here first, tons of good quality stuff, mainly black/death/thrash, all well organized. In case you dont know it yet: http://psychocydd.co.uk/torrents.php
| Pennywise_M Damn way to help a brother out! Thanks man :-)
| DarkSideOfLucca Litany is great! I actually reviewed that a week or two ago aha, a lot of people on Sputnik apparently don't dig it as much as me but oh well, opinions ya know- give me a shoutbox and let me know what you think my man
| Atari haha vektor's a newer thrash band don't you like older thrash too? i'm surprised you gave stormtroopers of death such a low rating.l
| Atari Ironically vektor is one of the few thrash bands I haven't heard. I'll check them out today thanks man
| Atari By the way i am ThrashHard this is my main account lol. any thrash recs?
| ThrashHard Haha yeah but it's pretty hopeless to argue with KILL
| HitlerIsPissed well, my military failed me, the jews rule the world, america is a mixed race society, and im dead. im ****in pissed.
| DarkSideOfLucca I have a lot of reasons man aha, I know it's an unpopular opinion but like most Agalloch that EP touches my emotions like no other band. I like the raw black metal production mixed with their experimental stuff, the riffs are perfect, the lyrics are great, those 21 minutes always feel like 5 minutes. Sorry if this is vague aha it's just how I feel, I personally think it's their best work other than The Mantle.
| CaptainDooRight bro whatever u just described sounds kvlt as shii, I'm in!!
| CaptainDooRight haha for sure will dude. snow sports are kvlt, bro hell ya psych is best hard
| CaptainDooRight haha nope born and raised in southern california, but ive great things about canadian, def gotta visit sometime and snowboard hard bro
