  • Cygnatti best fruit? mango is pretty good, but i dig peaches, apples, oranges (HATE OJ tho!), pears, grapes, etc. i think mango is my fav, i had some dried mangoes for the first time in several years and omgggg i wish i had a weeks worth of that s***.

  • SowingSeason I'm not certain what algorithm determines the flagged review, but to my understanding it goes staff review-contributor review-most recent (?). Regardless, it's flaky at best and doesn't even always do what it is supposed to. I re-flagged the two you mentioned, just let me know if there were any others.

  • hal1ax boom ---
    May 12 01:52 PM
  • Frippertronics ye boio, have at it. Kinda lies more in the riff-oriented category rather than cheesy glam tropes, VERY rooted in Chuck Berry and the like (like Bolan used a ton of variations on some riffs that could come across as very cool or very uncreative).
    May 7 03:13 AM
  • Frippertronics However, their stuff from the late 60s up until Tanx (special mention to the last two records before Marc Bolan died in 1977) are worth it. However, if you want an idea of what they were like at their peak, the T. Rextasy compilation that was put together in the 80s is a nice introduction. Has a few album cuts, the hits and a few non-album singles as well.
    May 7 03:10 AM
  • Frippertronics kinda glam stuff. Tanx ain't their best (see: The Slider, been meaning to review it for ages). Tanx is sorta? proggy in some spots (has some mellotron on a few cuts, the compositions are a lot more scattershot than the stuff on Electric Warrior and The Slider).
    May 7 03:07 AM
  • Frippertronics mah main man, yeah. Bought a few dupes off of him as well (Larks Tongues in Aspic, T. Rex's Tanx) because they either had stuff my old copies didn't have (Tanx came with the poster and wasn't a cutout) or they were in better condition than my current copy (Larks had a far less ring wear and the record was practically silent the entire time bar a faint pop or two on the title cut).
    May 7 03:03 AM
  • Frippertronics naw this ain't my record store dude, he just sells stuff on the side and does flea markets/record shows. Though I may have to see if he has Anthem/Aoxo still. I know he had American Beauty as well. Think the only ones he didn't have were the last three.
    May 7 02:44 AM
  • Frippertronics The guy I bought it from I buy from on the regular and that Dead record was a radio station copy apparently. He had pretty much the entire studio catalogue, Skull ****, Europe 72 and a few other comps/live records but I passed because I blew my money on jazz, Talking Heads, some other prog/punk stuff I didn't have already.
    May 7 02:26 AM
  • Frippertronics back to the dead chat we had a bit back, bought their debut (mono) at a flea market for four bucks's good? Dude had a ton of Dead but the debut was cheap so I took a chance on it. May have to get Skull **** from him next time.

    April 28 04:59 PM
  • hal1ax haha ayt. i was sorta not super into post. it's too conventional. i like the weirder more experimental stuff
    April 27 04:12 PM
  • Beautiful It was originally bloons I told him it was cute and he let me have it, isn't he the nicest? Profile pic is from an a.g cook song
    April 27 11:55 AM
  • Beautiful Thanks ! :) the one on my profile or the kitty?
    April 27 10:40 AM
  • Cygnatti fuq i knew it, ok so here are some other recs instead! Project Pablo - Beaubien Dream (warm deep house ^_^), venetian snares - traditional synthesizer music (idm/prog elec), doppler effekt - cellular automata (fairly basic prog electronic, which is exactly my type of deal ~)
    April 26 05:44 PM
  • hal1ax but ya i know what u mean about the vocals. i love those chopped up like old diva-sounding vocals . those types of samples are used a lot in jungle / dnb
    April 25 03:06 AM
  • hal1ax burial's music is really atmospheric tho and often has the morose / hopeful duality goin on. idk most trip hop i've heard is just like slow and brooding but not really emotional if that makes sense. but tbh i haven;t heard a ton of it lol
    April 25 02:59 AM
  • hal1ax haha bro i love lounginggg but my kind of lounging for some reason isn't amenable to typical lounge music. idk i sort of like emotionally-driven music u know like burial or punk rock or something.. like for me trip-hop is kinda vapid but i can see why ppl enjoy it. i dig bits of it
    April 25 02:35 AM
  • hal1ax ya that is nice actually. beginning is pretty tedious anemic lounge stuff but it gets good for sure. i like those vocal samples too
    April 25 01:43 AM
  • hal1ax let me check that one real quick cuz i forget what it sounds like. ill @ u ina sec
    April 25 01:25 AM
  • hal1ax man shadow bores the sh1t out of me. donuts is that f1re
    April 25 01:11 AM
  • hal1ax ya exactly. and yea i use a program called 'R' which is super similar to python i think. coding is pretty dope tho yea. kinda thought i would hate it but it's sorta fun
    April 25 12:59 AM
  • hal1ax wtf that link doesn't work... looks like this ---
    April 25 12:24 AM
  • hal1ax Looks something like this ?- ?- and don?t be jelly the stats boyz get get all the pussyyyyyyyyy
    April 24 11:36 PM
  • Cygnatti i feel like i already rec'd u this, but like the very first recognizable electronic album was also psychedelic! silver apples - self-titled. proto-kraut rock, proto-techno, (maybe proto-house). is doubtlessly rock music but with 0 guitars to be found! very fun and quirky album. give it a shot, if you haven't already.
    April 24 11:01 PM
  • hal1ax three regression lines ya. so i'm talking about multiple linear regression.. so multiple predictors for one outcome variable.. so the end model is not 3 separate lines but actually makes like a 3D plane... so yea in multiple linear regression a huge problem we face is teasing apart the predictors to ascertain what is responsible for what.. and hierarchical models are very useful in this. there are other ways to skirt mulitcollinearity .. and hierarchicals happen to be a p useful way
    April 24 02:10 PM
  • hal1ax plus that partial derivative stuff doesn't address multicollinearity ... so imagine you have 3 regression lines that are highly correlated.. and your total model has a very high R-squared value.. but you don't know which of your lines is accounting for what.. doing the whole partial derivative thingy will just tell you about the full model, it won't differentiate between predictors, which is what hierarchical modelzzz do niqqaaaaaaaaaaaa
    April 24 01:54 PM
  • hal1ax haha see what you just typed sounds more complicated to me than what i'm talking about. fck yo calculus ass sh1t
    April 24 01:42 PM
  • hal1ax but yo ppl still tryna minimize the residuals between observed and predicted models! they call that the ordinary least squared technique
    April 24 03:57 AM
  • hal1ax hierarchical-patriarcal lmao. hierarchicals are cool man!!! they allow you to zero in on potential multicollinearity in the full model by sort of partitioning it into a step-wise series wherein you add each predictor variable at each step to see how much your R-squared value (variance in the outcome variable being explained by predictor variables) is being affected per each predictor!! im so hard rn
    April 24 03:54 AM
  • DDDeftoneDDD im learning failure toured a lot with tool in early 90's and Adam Jones from tool actually played some shows with them lol thus the connection :P
    April 20 09:36 PM
  • GhostB1rd Lmao I'm boutta open that box in the Kendrick thread haha.
    April 17 08:21 PM
  • hal1ax ya it is definitely interesting. i fck with itt
    April 17 06:20 PM
  • hal1ax woah i actually kinda like this. the cover is such misdirection haha. it's like actually pretty gloomy and bizarre at times. it's more compelling than most trip hop ive heard too. like most of that sh1t just loses my attention.. sometimes the real loungey sh1t just melds into amorphousness
    April 17 05:10 PM
  • DDDeftoneDDD tks for the tip. That album is really good. As to the APC cover check if you can, the live version.
    April 17 11:44 AM
  • hal1ax on itttt. i'll report back tmrw fasho
    April 17 04:40 AM
  • hal1ax omgg i totally forgot haha. i think i responded to u that day at work and prob just got home and passed tf out. ayt ima download rn nigzz
    April 17 04:21 AM
  • Frippertronics tbf i just kinda don't care for the dead, so imma keep losin
    April 17 04:12 AM
  • Frippertronics i see that disgraceful async rating and raise you a big NO
    April 17 03:45 AM
  • OmairSh Yooo. Above and Beyond - Tri-State or Group Therapy. Group Therapy is more vocal oriented. All their albums are great though. How're things dude?
    April 16 09:05 PM
  • thelamestallion Yep, it's just a matter of wordiness and exaltation, for I mostly review only things I either adore or fiercely hate, nothing in between... so I have to work on a more sober and pragmatical approach. Thanks for benediction! :D
    April 15 05:50 AM
  • thelamestallion Thanks man! Working on it. I even plan to review some stuff, already have five blueprints - Chelsea Wolfe's last two albums, Karnivool's "Asymmetry", Jakob's "Sines" and EITS "All of a sudden...", but almost all of them are a bit too long for Sputnik's format, so I have to cut them before posting.
    April 15 05:11 AM
  • DDDeftoneDDD Gonna check those two
    April 13 07:17 AM
  • DDDeftoneDDD ...I actually think that a lot of the 90's grunge bands have this "shoegaze" genre influences on their slower tracks...
    April 13 07:02 AM
  • DDDeftoneDDD **** dude...I use deezer and m b v is not there...grr
    April 13 04:53 AM
  • DDDeftoneDDD hum, shoegaze is kind of difficult to define for me yet...I love grunge (nirvana, smashing pumpkins, even foofighters I think it has some) back in the days and alt rock (Blur, Oasis, or Sonic youth) that I think captured some of that shoegaze vibe, but I guess my answer would be "no".
    April 13 04:12 AM
  • DDDeftoneDDD I never have listened to this because it has a name of an emocore band, as everyone else I'm at 4.5 to start (:
    April 12 04:25 PM

    April 9 11:19 PM
  • TheLongShot It's the only accurate rating of that album tbh
    April 9 11:38 AM
  • Asdfp277 Fixed it. Looks fine to me now!
    April 9 04:11 AM
  • Asdfp277 You can also link it to me and i can try adding it myself and see if it glitched. What album is it?
    April 9 01:46 AM
  • Asdfp277 i would recommend trying to edit the album artwork (ONCE), uploading a .jpg less than 600x600 and 200kb, and waiting a day for the mods to approve it. If it doesn't get approved, it's probably because it glitched. In that case, only a mod can fix it, so you'd have to ask in the meds thread, providing the link and the image.
    April 9 01:45 AM
  • hal1ax haha that cover art is phenomenal. on it
    April 8 01:54 PM
  • hal1ax Right right but there?s always room for dietary modification in a beneficial direction. I don?t believe in super parochial diets I am a firm believer in the efficacy of the well-rounded type of diet. And ya it?s been super challenging / rewarding. It?s good work.. Work that?s worth believing in and committing to unfortunately you hit dead-ends fairly often.. just the way it is. Many of these people just won?t ever function in the world again.
    April 7 06:27 PM
  • hal1ax Ya dude getting your diet in line is a serious commitment and takes so much discipline. And I?ve been heckaaa busy lately. Been doing behavioral health work at a recuperative care facility for the homeless. Pretty good money but I work like 45 hours a week plus grad school sooooo... lol. I ain?t got much time anymore to loiter the interweb. Still pop in from time to time tho. Any good 2018 tunes you?re privy to ??? I?ve been behind.
    April 7 06:03 PM
  • Tyler. hey

    April 3 05:31 AM
  • MotokoKusanagi yo spacey, someone asked the same thing in the HANL thread I replied there :) thanks for asking mate
    March 30 10:20 AM
  • JustJoe. Cool beans! I always worry about asking for recs because I take so long to digest them sometimes. This one looks right up my alley, plus I've been meaning to re-gaze it up for a while now.
    March 28 09:29 AM
  • JustJoe. I'll get on that as soon as possible. Will hopefully report back when I can form a coherent thought on it. Thanks, Space Man!
    March 28 01:51 AM

  • Acanthus I'm on here only occasionally, I have checked the new Shpongle out but not all the way through; I'm on a retro/synthwave kick so haven't made it back around to other genres yet!
    March 15 01:34 PM
  • zakalwe The only people who could make me change are people like your good self.

  • NocteDominum
    March 15 09:27 AM
  • Demon of the Fall No worries, honestly don?t even think about it now. You don?t need to apologise. Thanks though, I too am sorry if there was any bad feeling. Sometimes it?s hard to know when stuff isn?t meant seriously.
    March 14 08:59 AM
  • JustJoe. Awesome! Take your time with them, though! No hurry, my friend!
    March 13 02:56 PM
  • JustJoe. How are those two recs [mis-]treating you?
    March 13 02:11 PM
  • evilford You are too kind :3
    March 13 09:22 AM
  • evilford Lol. No hard feelings I don't blame u
    March 13 08:59 AM
  • NocteDominum Well yeah, If i kept going with my initial pace at the start of the year there's a chance I could've put 100-130 reviews on the site this year. Sure it's nice to have that coverage but I'm sure I'd start repeating myself over and over again
    March 13 08:47 AM
  • NocteDominum Then take into consideration I took two years away from sput lol. I'm actually trying to slow things down a little. Write about the albums that engage me rather than forcing myself onto them. If that makes sense.
    March 13 08:40 AM
  • NocteDominum It's all good. I've literally finished work just long enough to make the next list, pour a glass of red and think about writing another review. Not much else.

    February 26 12:26 AM
  • Frippertronics re-re-released you mean? I was waaaay too young for the initial press that was in that ten year old box set and was lazy during the reissue a few years back. I have CDJapan on my email subs so I usually get notices whenever something is coming. You should try and pick up those Supercar reissues before they're goooooneeeeeeeeeee

  • OminousGargoyle Haha that's cool! Though I would add that the enjoyment of an album depends on your current state of mind and emotions, maybe I haven't been in the right mindset when I first listened to Loveless... Sometimes an album is more difficult to digest and requires multiple listens...You're review is pretty dope btw.

    February 6 12:45 PM
  • OminousGargoyle Whats my favorite song off of The Silver Album? Hm, I am not sure yet, though the more I listen to the album the more I like it as a whole. It takes (me) time to apsorb a shoegaze album and even more time to pinpoint favorite songs. I remember giving Loveless a 3.5 or 4 at first few listens also, haha, and now it's among the 5s, so who knows.
