| KjSwantko I deactivated it a couple weeks ago. I came to the conclusion that there really aren't many benefits of being on facebook. For the most part you just end up wasting a lot of time and reading meaningless posts.
| silentpotato sorry for the late reply man. my all time favorite is Feedbacker by Boris but it takes patience. might not be the best one to start with, although you should definitely listen to it early on. Get that, Hex by Earth, and Radiance of Shadows by Nadja to start. let me know which ones you like the best and ill rec you more from their if youd like
| Shuyin youve got a good friend then, you should follow his example and listen to moar CC m/
| Shuyin sir, are you trying to give me sad ideas?
| KjSwantko Yeah I'm good man, thanks though. Will definitely check that out at some point; still haven't jammed that other one you rec'd yet (haven't jammed anything new). But yeah thanks bra
| silentpotato thanks man! check back in mid september and i should have something new. can't do anything till i go back home at the end of summer though, left all my equipment there
| silentpotato wanted to add a whole spectrum of really unusual color
| silentpotato hmmm... ive never actually really considered my influence... i couldnt say there are specific artists, but i have a big thing with occult and ritual photography. I guess John Baizley would be an influence as well, just in how often he deifies women in his art, which is something i like to try and do as well. But yeah i guess you could say a big part of it was that i wanted to take that dark and somewhat morbid photography style but instead of staying with the typical monochromatic thing i
| silentpotato yee thats my art man :]. Summer lips is probably my favorite too, one of my newest ones. It's cool that my avatar left enough of an impression for you to recognize it, and i'm glad you dig it all and took the time to drop me that shoutbox, cheers man
| KjSwantko I forgot! I'm gonna have to check that out. I've been busy the last few days and will be for the next couple days as well, but Sleepytime Gorilla Museum will be the next new album I jam
| KjSwantko yeah it sucks dick though because I've had it since 2006 (gay charts). But yeah FR me if you've got one.... http://www.last.fm/user/KiLlYoU45
| KjSwantko yeah no doubt! When I saw the name Gabriel I figured it was probably you
| SaneTBP Yeah and I added you on last.fm. Btw my charts don't reflect my taste too well, only like the half of the stuff I listen gets scrobbled so my charts are quite biased.
| SaneTBP Glad to hear you liked those recs! Your ratings for those were really similar to mine btw. :O
| SaneTBP Sup, I checked out Faithless and Inhale few weeks ago. I enjoyed Faithless, but I don't see myself coming back to it really. Inhale was pretty cool, I listened "The Buckling of Hopes and Dreams". Have you listened/digged any of those recs I gave? :P
| KjSwantko I think the only time you should mention yourself is if its important. For example if you don't usually like prog but find something special about the album you're reviewing, then maybe its an acceptable time mention yourself in it. I've done it in a few reviews, but generally speaking I agree with you- you shouldn't.
| KjSwantko Yeah man thanks, Pos are always appreciated. I'm trying to make up ground on the damn troll negs I got lol. You should try to get up some more reviews too!
| KjSwantko Sup dude, hey if you get a couple minutes check out my 2 new reviews I just did (Beyond the Bridge, Vanden Plas). m/ Hope you got that stuff in your life straightened out
| KjSwantko damn dude sounds intense, aight good luck haha
| YUJOS Also, nice Death Ratings man!
| YUJOS Hello again! If you like some technical brutal stuff give a spin to the new Hour Of Penance and check also Hideous Divinity, they are from Italy also. One album that I listen to a lot lately is also the first album from Pseudogod. They are from Russia and play OSDM.
| KjSwantko Just listened to Lost Horizon and it kicks ass. The 2nd half of the record seemed to pique my interest a lot more than the first, but by the end I was jamming hard and loving it! Great rec man; gave it a 4.5
| KjSwantko Jammin Drudkh lately eh? Good stuff. That brownish album with the person pulling the sled or whatever rules hard (forget the name right now) lol.
| YUJOS Yeah they have pretty good riffs. Kinda remind of Morbid Angel and CC while at the same time being technical doing some staff other new bands are playing. Glad you like it.
| Jom Features are typically reserved for recently-released albums, as that drives a lot of activity to the site. However, during slow periods (e.g. December), we do a "Years Past" feature, so when that's the case, we'll do it up then. Thanks!
| KjSwantko No doubt man, enjoy your break! Keep it metal m/
| KjSwantko It's all good bro, I've been busy myself and haven't been on much the last few weeks. Yeah I saw Captain's Crevice stuff but haven't had a chance to give it a listen yet; gonna do it very soon. I imagine its good if you mentioned it! And no, I have no idea what GSCEs are haha
| Aids do it from the forums (message boards)
| CaptainDooRight What's up bro. Thanks for the awesome ratings! Yeah the link is still up. I posted it on the comment before this one.
| SaneTBP I have listened only those SGM and Supertramp albums so far and I liked both. Sure, they weren't exactly for my taste but I still enjoyed them. I have a feeling I'll like those others a bit less though. But it's only my fault, I didn't give any refinements for your recs to give ;). I'm still going to check out those what I haven't yet, maybe I'll like them more than I expect!
| BaselineOOO the only one I know of is cdjapan, but I think the prices are considerably higher than in the US and UK, about 35$ for a CD if I remember correctly, and I'm not sure if it includes the shipping
| Hawks Haha thanks a lot bro. I appreciate it.
| Hawks My stupid ass just copied something else before I pasted the link for Death Grips. If you could put the link in my shoutbox real fast I'll it within like ten seconds lol.
| KjSwantko I just noticed you 5'd Moontower too; awesome stuff bro. I haven't heard it in so long I'm going to jam it right now. Super underrated DM.
| SaneTBP Coil is quite essential one too I suppose, but I have heard only two releases by them. I suggest to start with 'Moon's Milk'. Murmuure and their s/t is pretty damn awesome too!
| SaneTBP Thanks for the recs dude, I'm going to check these out! For those dark ambient recs, here are some of the best stuff I've come across: Bohren and der Club of Gore - Black Earth, Elend - A World in Their Screams, Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind, Deaf Center - Pale Ravine, Maeror Tri - The Beauty of Sadness
| SaneTBP I just finished my exams and summer holidays are starting soon so I'm I'm doing well. I hope you'll do well with your exams :). Do you have anything cool to rec btw?
| SgtPepper Thank you, that was very kind of you to say. I honestly dont know if im eligible to become staff or contributor since I havent written as much as most users and I'm rather new. But maybe someday. by the way, you've got some good taste in music.
| JamieTwort Glad you like them man. I might review one of their albums at some point, not sure which one though, they're both great.
| KjSwantko **** yeah dude, I thought it was pretty sweet too when I saw it
| KjSwantko Alright will do bro, I'll check it out tonight
| Aids thanks, where do you live?
| Aids yeah I'll be in Cornwall from June-September. I have family there (sort of) and they're giving me a job in one of their restaurants for the summer. In Padstow. Never been there but I'm pumped to be making money finally after doing nothing but spend for the past 8 months.
| Aids cool thanks man, your recs are definitely less "obvious" than mine. here's the thing though: I can't really download stuff at all right now (in Africa with slow wifi connections) but I'll be in Europe in a couple weeks so maybe remind me then and I'll get on it. I'm gonna go on a huge dl binge when I get to Amsterdam haha
| Kubrick Haha it's cool. You picked a good one. ^_^
| Aids my top 12 or something, my full top 100 is here if you want more http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=246628
| Aids Laura Stevenson and the Cans - Sit Resist -- Manchester Orchestra - Simple Math -- La Dispute - Wildlife -- Trophy Scars - Never Born, Never Dead -- Hey Rosetta! - Seeds -- Pianos Become the Teeth - The Lack Long After -- m83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming -- The Antlers - Burst Apart -- TV on the Radio - Nine Types of Light -- Dan Mangan - Oh Fortune -- The War on Drugs - Slave Ambient -- The Rural Alberta Advantage - Departing -- The Mountain Goats - All Eternals Deck -- BNJMN - Black Square
| Altmer I'm online, I just got burned out on reviews and post infrequently. I occasionally lurk though!
| KjSwantko Thanks bro, yeah I have no clue how I ended up with Negs for it. Gotta love this homosexual site. ANyway, yeah check out Koloss and the Nothing album for Meshuggah. Nothing especially is badass. No worries about being inactive, it happens brotha
| KjSwantko bro check out my review for new Meshuggah, and jam the album hard if you haven't yet m/
| KjSwantko you, but you'll probably be gone again tomorrow lol
| KjSwantko Never heard them, I will have to. Don't know when it'll be though because my rec listen list is a mile long right now. Sometimes I wish I could just be a geek and sit on sputnik all day jamming music
| KjSwantko a homeless dude flashed you his dick? haha. And no man, I don't have XBL anymore although I'm debating getting it again.
| JamieTwort No need to apologise dude. Sweet, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it.
| KjSwantko Dude I don't think you missed much, mostly people drooling over a female on Sputnik, and people posting stuff so stupid I couldn't even make it up haha. You gotta get that thing fixed though (or get a new one)!
| KjSwantko s***ty man. Restore your computer back to factory condition if you have Windows; when you first turn it on go to the Boot Menu or something like that and you can do it from there. As far as the Van Der Graaf review, for a classic review like that maybe try describing how they've influenced more recent bands and the overall impact they've had on the genre.
| KjSwantko Word, I appreciate it! I'm jamming death metal hard all day in honor of valentinebro day. Virtual hugs from upstate New York bro, keep it metal m/
| KjSwantko Yeah bro, from what I remember the Carbon-Based Anatomy EP is a lot more like that. But then again I'm not a Cynic fanatic and haven't listened to it in a while, but I'd give it a spin; my memory recalls that it's pretty solid too
| Willie 'Her Posts...' and she still pops in from time to time. She just doesn't have as much time as she did back in the day.
| BaselineOOO oops the list was alot longer but sputnik cut it and I didn't notice...
| SaneTBP Tokyo Jihen is okay too. Their best is 'Adult'. Ringo is their singer, but I rec to check her other solo works first.
| SaneTBP Cristina rec'd some of my favorites but try these: Doji Morita - A Boy, Bisk - Strange or Funny Ha Ha?, Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill 2 OST, Jun Togawa - Tamahime-sama
| BaselineOOO Those are some really good essential japanese albums. I have no alts by the way, Shouso and Sane just have a very similar music taste with mine because we're good friends on last.fm.
| BaselineOOO Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun; Boris - Boris at Last -Feedbacker-; Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I; Angel'in Heavy Syrup - Angel'in Heavy Syrup IV; Mono
| KjSwantko haha word. Yeah I'm Eastern time (New York state). ALright peace out m/
| KjSwantko For sure, most PM is super cheesy and gay as hell. I have to be in the mood for it. Like I was jamming Firewind hard today and they were goin on and on about being warriors haha. I'm gonna check this album out tonight though, I trust your tastes bro, hopefully its as good as you say m/
| KjSwantko lol gonna check out check out that Awakening the World album you rated just because of your soundoff. Although I do like PM
| MO Cool, you should check out some Ancient Wisdom, Drudkh (Blood in Our Wells is an amazing album), Nokturnal Mortum, Ash Borer (as well as their split with Fell Voices), Fell Voices, Morthra, Vordr, Nargaroth, Darkspace, Teratism, Borgne, Nekrasov, Eclipse Eternal
yea that should keep you busy for a while, cheers
| MO How recent were you thinking? ALOT of the BM I listen to is from the 90's since I feel the genre has kind of stagnated recently. What'd you have in mind?
| JamieTwort Dude you should review Godbluff, it's in serious need of a review and judging by your Marillion review you should be able to do it justice.
| KILL same old s*** lol, what kinda recs you want? you should check out the albums i have 5'd all rule hard CANT GO WRONG
| KjSwantko I know what ya mean brotha. Not like we're getting paid doing these reviews anyway lol, take your jolly good time getting it finished up
| KjSwantko yeah I've heard of the Ohio prog thing coming up...sick! I'll check those out, thanks! still waiting on that Marillion review too bro!
| KILL oxford nice i'm from portsmouth, if you dont already know its a chav pit but the one thing we know hwo to do is fight hard, brogut up in the rough ****s here dont stand a chance, if you see an emo kid hes always got a black eye or a sore ass, i dont play that second s*** but anywho cool
| KILL yup how did you guess
| KjSwantko Yeah Season's End is really legit! It's rated relatively low on Sputnik compared to other albums they have too; can't wait to listen to other stuff from them! Good pick with them man!
| SaneTBP Her other albums aren't as experimental as KZK, but they're still brilliant. Shouso Strip is probably the most varied of the three, still being much more straightforward than KZK. Sanmon Gossip is more jazzy and Muzai Moratorium is more J-Rock.
| SaneTBP Yea, it's probably my favorite album of all time. Btw, are you going to check out her other albums?
| KjSwantko never even heard of it actually, I think I'll listen to it now, and I'm sure it's good since Dano loves it. Obviously I'll check out the review when you're done with it too, good luck bro, make that s*** good!
| KjSwantko yeah bro, my main pointer would be to sleep on it a night before to submit it; Even if you think it's great you'll still look at it the next day and say, "wow that sucks, needs to be revised, etc." Also, never do track-by-track reviews ether, they blow lol. Good luck bro! What are you reviewing anyway?
| TheArkitecht Yeah man Fear of Blank Planet ranks up in my favourites and I don't think you'll be dissapointed with the Tesseract album! there's alot of mixed views on it but I think it's fantastic!
| TheArkitecht Yeah man I've got a few! If you haven't check out the rest of the Ayreon discography, it's all gold! also try:Kalisia - Cybion,The Protomen - Act II: The Father of DeathPorcupine Tree - Fear of A Blank PlanetSeventh Wonder - Mercy FallsSwallow The Sun - Plague of ButterfliesX-Japan - Art of LifeTesseracT - Concealing FateLet me know what you think of them!
| MO yea, a great artist no doubt
and don't worry man, there's a life outside of sputnik ;) cheers
| MO Yea I've heard that one before, amazing album. Another great prog band that should've seen more airtime for sure. I got one for ya, it's not so much prog as it is jazz/electronic if you don't mind those, but it has some sublte progressive parts. Check out St. Germain - Tourist. Here's a taste, so much class. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ksKdE_IKVQ
| MO Definitely essential and one of the less famous prog bands compared to the likes of Yes, King Crimson etc. Once you finish The Snow Goose check out Moonmadness, an absolute gem.
| KjSwantko I know bro they'be become maybe my favorite band over the last year! Their first 5 albums are all super good. The Dark Discovery and In Search Of Truth are my 2 favs. Glad u like them too!
| BugZoid Don't be ashamed for lack of Yes! That one is the only one I have of theirs, actually. I just adore that song. And I wasn't totally sure about Two Hunters, but I can definitely say it is one of the best albums I've spun in a while. Just stellar stuff.
| Shuyin glad you liked that stuff, try the crevices below when you can, since their both a one man band. cheers
| KjSwantko yeah I know what you mean, give it a chance and I think it will grow on you. m/
| KjSwantko Listening to Scarred for Life, holy s*** I'm liking it so far. Bro check out the review I just finished for Evergrey on the front page, it's different from Nightingale but still really good you'd probably enjoy it
| MO Thanks buddeh
