  • Dewinged Said and done my man. Album is great, probably I'd had gone with a 3.7/3.8 on first listen but yeah, sput's system. Def. a grower.
    October 25 09:36 PM
  • TwigTW No worries, Scott's released three albums this year. I can barely keep up with him myself... Listened to the Zimpel and I'm thinking maybe I don't like it more than you. It's... I don't know what it is, weird.
    October 23 04:56 PM
  • Archelirion an album hasn't affected me like that in a long time. It's stunning
    October 23 02:26 PM

  • SowingSeason Hey, your rec made my top 10! I appreciate the rec and everything you do as a "citizen" of the site...I know we may not interact all the time but it doesn't go unnoticed that you've been around a while and have stayed out of trouble, offered constructive criticism, helped new users, etc etc. Keep it up and if I can ever help you out I'm just a shout away.
    October 17 03:56 PM
  • Dewinged Sorry for the late reply! I live in Osaka. Stuff to visit? Mmm, it depends on what you wanna do man, like if you wanna nerd around anime and stuff like that def. visit Akihabara, if you wanna chill out and see temples consider traveling to Nikko. Obviously Tokyo is your door to Japan, but check also the Japan Rail pass cause traveling to Kansai (which groups Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe) is already worth the price and you can go down to even Hiroshima!
    October 10 01:24 AM
  • Dewinged Def. November man, less people, there won't be stuff suddenly closed because of Christmas, hotels, flight would be cheaper, etc.
    October 5 09:28 PM

    October 2 02:11 PM
  • Evokaphile Dude it was one of the most boring albums of heard in recent memory. It does literally zero interesting things. Its just Gojira making atmo - and poorly at that. I like Celeste, but that album... Hell no. Sorry dude. I love ya, but we'll have to agree to disagree on this one m/

    June 11 08:23 PM
  • TwigTW Most people seem to think Ok Computer is the best Radiohead, but I think In Rainbows and Kid A are better. they are both on my all-time favorite albums list, and it's hard for me to pick which of the two is better . . . Don't forget to pack plenty of tunes for the forest. Music withdrawal is a terrible thing!
    June 8 05:14 PM
  • TwigTW ...plus Waclaw Zimpel just released a new one under the band name Saagra, 2
    May 30 02:59 PM
  • TwigTW Hey there, not much has stood out for me lately, but maybe Gerald Clayton - Tributary Tales (if you're in the mood for jazz), or the new Here Lies Man . . . I see you gave Nym - Lilac Chaser a good rating. I'm always looking for new trip-hop, so gonna check that one out!

  • cylinder oh that's cool. well i hope they keep up the good work. and ye but the latter two songs are kinda droney, so i'll call it close enough haha
    April 7 01:00 PM
  • cylinder thanks for reccing me UFO Över Lappland, it's a damn enjoyable album and i highly doubt i would've found it without the rec haha
    April 6 11:47 AM
  • Dewinged The track is supposed to come out as a split, but my friend is taking care of it and he's busy with his own band, so no idea when that will come out. It was basically a stoner track we improvised, nothing really fancy. I'll let you know when it is available to stream somewhere.
    April 6 02:15 AM
  • Dewinged Nice man, I did the same, this last Christmas, went back home and recorded one track with old bandmates, it was pretty fun. I played drums. Dude, I had the same hair that you have in that pic when I was like 18 or so lol
    April 5 08:13 PM
  • TwigTW sounds great--will do!
    April 5 09:24 AM
  • Dewinged Damn Sniff, that's some decent H/C right there. 7 years ago n you are still playing together? nice. What do u play? and who are u in the pic?
    April 5 08:54 AM
  • ZippaThaRippa YOU'RE a special character
    April 4 11:55 PM
  • TwigTW I don't know if you've noticed, but they're giving you a hard time over on the new Goldfrapp ratings page.
    April 4 02:22 PM
  • TwigTW I agree, me neither.
    April 3 08:00 AM
  • TwigTW I wrote it backwards. Sorry about that. Dawn of Midi's Dysnomia is in the database . . . Glad you liked it. It's an interesting album--more than just a gimmick. I wonder how many other bands try to do that, if any?
    April 3 07:38 AM
  • TwigTW By the way . . . If you are intrigued by the idea of an acoustic jazz band that mimics electronics, then you might check out Dysnomia - Dawn of Midi. (If you haven't already). I didn't even realize Dysnomia weren't electronic artists until after I read a review of the album. Sounds just like a minimalist electronic album.
    April 2 09:01 PM
  • TwigTW Lol, yes, I remember now! (when the last Radiohead was released) my humblest apologies . . . I've never read an interview with him. Maybe I'll keep it that way if he's pretentious. This is from his last album, but tell me this isn't a drum and base song done acoustically: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1JnHCqqu64
    April 2 05:10 PM
  • TwigTW I can't believe I called you a slacker--must have been on crack that day. You blow me away . . . anyway, Don't know how you feel about Christian Scott, but he just released a new one. I think it's interesting how he brings electronic music sensibilities to an acoustic jazz album.
    April 2 03:39 PM
  • necropig Cheers sniff :3
    April 1 11:43 AM
  • Chortles if only man, i'm working for an industrial packaging company in jönköping. almost as sexy tho
    March 31 04:31 PM
  • Chortles mycket bra! haha disappointing as it may be, i am not a swede - just an expat working in this fine land :-) and since my office is very international and typically only speaking english, my swedish is quite poor lol
    March 31 02:40 PM
  • Chortles nej, tack. är du svensk??
    March 31 01:32 PM
  • TwigTW Oh, that is not good--sounds like the beginning of the end for the Quietus.
    March 31 11:52 AM
  • evilford Sweet will do thanks m/
    March 31 10:22 AM
  • evilford Got any recs?
    March 31 09:19 AM
  • evilford Yeah really getting into it these days. Sludge is great. Probably see you around!
    March 31 09:18 AM
  • Dewinged Yeah man, soooo much people. Hope you can make it one day. It's a hell of a trip.
    March 31 01:00 AM
  • evilford Yes sir. Sludge is good stuff. U dig sludge?

  • FullOfSounds Oh yeah! Whole album is class

  • FullOfSounds Nothing Lasts Forever?
    March 30 04:03 PM
  • Dewinged Have u been there? It's pretty crazy man, love it though. Now I live in Osaka, it's more quiet, but equally nuts.
    March 30 04:26 AM
  • Dewinged 8 years ago I was working in Canada and they opened an office Tokyo so they sent me there. It changed my life man. I am used to it now but the first year was pure madness.
    March 29 08:24 PM
  • Relinquished mmmh not really man. while hard to gauge and immersing myself in all types of electronic, I may have been a bit fatigued but I do dig it. I do hold "Good" true to heart.
    March 29 09:36 AM
  • Dewinged Yes! Went there, also Malmö and... Lund? Cant remember, it was like 17 years ago lol **** i'm old.
    March 29 08:06 AM
  • Dewinged Nah, pretty close man! You are from Sweden? I studied in Denmark (Aalborg) for 6 months and visited some places in the west coast of Sweden. Beautiful place.
    March 29 04:17 AM
  • Dewinged Cause I'm Spanish! lol
    March 29 02:46 AM
  • Dewinged I live in Japan man! ;)
    March 29 02:34 AM
  • Dewinged Hey man I also checked your chiptune album. Fun stuff, I enjoyed it!
    March 29 01:16 AM
  • Dewinged Miman yeah, came originally in 2015 but they re-released it through Century Media with that Madonna cover.
    March 27 04:44 AM
  • Sniff MOLF
    March 27 04:34 AM
  • Dewinged Sorry! Hit it twice ):
    March 27 04:33 AM
  • Dewinged I was thinking about doing a Q1 top ten of this year actually. Don't know man, King Woman is probably top 5 right now, maybe Nicole Sabouné's Miman, MUNA's About U is also cool, let's see the new Mastodon too this week! What about you?
    March 27 04:32 AM
  • Dewinged Umm I see, which band would you rec in that line? Apart from Idles of Gemini, True Widow and Subrosa.
    March 27 04:16 AM
  • Dewinged Thanks man, I got their last one, but haven't jammed it yet. I am bothering everyone with that King Woman album, did you hear it Sniff?
    March 27 04:05 AM

    March 17 01:16 PM
  • TwigTW I see you rated the new Anohni. Is it streaming somewhere?
    March 17 08:06 AM
  • TwigTW Yeah, I wouldn't cut anything, just won't listen to the whole thing all at once again, lol.
    March 17 08:05 AM
  • TwigTW ...but a little long.
    March 16 12:54 PM
  • TwigTW Listening now--it's great!
    March 16 11:42 AM
  • FullOfSounds i did not her it's not true it's bulls*** i did not hit her i did n o t
    March 15 10:58 AM
  • TwigTW Ha ha, English is impossible . . . Glad you found it interesting. I'm loving it.
    March 15 10:37 AM
  • TwigTW I like the blues, but I know what you mean. It really is the same thing over and over again. Fink has added just a touch of electronics and Flood's production gives it a beautiful atmosphere--but it's still the blues. You'll know by the second song if it's worth your time.
    March 14 03:04 PM
  • TwigTW I don't know if you like the blues. Maybe not? But if you do, here is a new release with a nice atmosphere/production: Fink - Fink's Sunday Night Blues, Vol. 1
    March 14 02:27 PM
  • TwigTW I had to go back and listen again myself, I'd say it's a saxophone . . . Krokofant are dependable--always great.
    March 14 02:20 PM
  • JamieTwort That's fair enough. Personally I love instrumental hip-hop of that nature when it's done as well as Karriem does it. I may been too quick with my statement though as thinking about it Oh No's Ultimate Breaks and Beats album from this year is at least on a par if not better.
    March 8 03:16 AM
  • JamieTwort So you're just not a fan of 'beat tapes' in general then? I'll be very surprised if I hear a better one all year tbh.
    March 7 03:36 PM
  • anatelier sorry bruv missed your message, i'm not familiar with sleepy sun but baby guru definitely have a vintage aesthetic
    March 4 06:24 PM
  • FullOfSounds Very nice
    March 3 07:19 AM
  • Relinquished lonefront did well, but it's a question of whether "I see myself coming back to it"
    March 2 10:52 AM
  • Relinquished u noticed the vocalist for Kehlvin is the same for Rorcal now
    March 2 10:46 AM
  • Artuma sweet, i dig totem skin a lot. thanks for the rec mate
    March 1 05:30 AM
  • Rowan5215 dude I could go on for years his kid cudi review triggered me so hard
    March 1 05:12 AM
  • Artuma yeah i've always seen him as more of a studio vocalist rather than a live performer but i'd still die to see the band live. it's just another world to actually be there than to watch it from your computer or whatever
    March 1 02:54 AM
  • Rowan5215 "reasons why george harrison is the best beatle, part one of thirty-four: who is george?" but thanks man
    March 1 02:33 AM
  • Artuma only the t/t off it. it was great for sure but i'm gonna stick with the studio version. i'm not the biggest fan of live albums anyway
    March 1 02:20 AM
  • MotokoKusanagi for sure, and the clear Death Grips influence on the "improv" track is cool
    February 28 01:34 PM
  • MotokoKusanagi props for moon hooch. they tour the jam band circuit near me a bit - great live band
    February 28 12:41 PM
  • TwigTW Will do!
    February 27 07:17 AM
  • theBoneyKing It's good though. I see you 1.5'd it, what do you find so bad about it?
    February 25 11:59 AM
  • TwigTW New Krokofant is out, it's another jazz-rock stomper.
    February 25 11:29 AM
  • ZippaThaRippa Hey have you ever heard of this band called Dakhma? Their new s*** is actually kind of good. Probably would go way over the head of a scrub like you but you never know
    February 24 07:21 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Because **** you, that's why
    February 23 01:30 PM

  • kascetcadettt ok i'm waiting for a gal to draw a cover for me so idk when it's goin to drop lol
    February 23 10:45 AM
  • kascetcadettt oh s*** i wanted to see both trailer park boys and parks n rec for a long time, but never really had the time or enthusiasm to actually do it and as for producing, i don't do s*** tbh, like really i just save it the way it sounds in fl studio when you construct the whole thing
    February 23 09:56 AM
  • kascetcadettt my fav track gotta be typhoon f and maybe underwater firestarter, also where are the "holy ****", "go **** yourself" and "this is my favorite band i told you a million times" samples from?
    February 23 07:24 AM
  • kascetcadettt mkay listened to your ep, first of all that album cover is disgusting what in the **** man, musically it's not bad but i wouldn't say it's anything special either, i kinda think that you should have more breaks like you kno kicks, hi-hats and especially snares bangin just to keep the momentum, the retro sounds are dope good job, i also loved the use of samples and voiceovers, u should keep that thing and work on the tunes, make them less boring and more fun, not sure about lo-fi sound too
    February 23 07:21 AM
  • kascetcadettt yeah sure i'm a sucka for chiptune u kno me, gonna check it soon and tell u what i think
    February 23 05:17 AM
  • kascetcadettt idk got an acoustic guitar, decided to play some lame stuff, got tired of making chiptunes since i've released more than 10 records in 2 years
    February 23 05:08 AM
  • kascetcadettt nah i'm done with chiptune for now at least
    February 23 05:04 AM
  • deezer666 I love the second half of that track. An Ep really isnt enough.
    February 22 12:14 PM
  • deezer666 yeah pretty momentous weekend!!
    February 20 06:40 PM
  • deezer666 I think its dutch for the word 'ache' I saw them support Oathbreaker and Mare on the same weekend both times they were real good. Thats their first release. A whole lot of potential.
    February 20 03:32 PM
  • Archelirion ****ing hell :oThis is kinda what I want Plebeian Grandstand to have done. This rips!
    February 16 12:53 PM
  • Relinquished dude tbh wtf that was so good, it caught me on the right time I'm playing old school video games with my son and the tunes clicked.

  • Archelirion The second one man, don't worry - the review was great :3
    February 7 12:07 PM
  • TwigTW Meanwhile... I see you got that Julie Byrne right. It's very pretty, but it has no soul. I gave it a 3.5--must have been in a good mood that day--need to lower it.

  • TwigTW Something about that album repulsed me. Her voice? her 'experimentation'? Lifting half the album from Laurie Anderson? Seldom do I have such a bad initial reaction to an album. At one point I wanted to give it a 1, but I went with a somewhat more objective 2.5 because I can see that it is not a horrible album. I just don't like it. ¯\_(?)_/¯

  • Archelirion Must admit, it was well put together and some of the samples made me laugh (The War on Drums had me giggling most of the way through). I just really hate the sound of the high pitched 8-bit note, always have done. I'd be intrigued to hear more from the project though, should you continue.
    February 7 08:49 AM
  • FullOfSounds Ye I love that one.
    February 5 02:22 PM
  • Archelirion Haha. Make sure to put intricately patterned full stops about for that sense of arbitrariness.I'd recommend it. First listen was intriguing enough, but the second one was where it really started clicking for me.
    February 5 02:20 PM
  • Archelirion https://mjmjrecords.bandcamp.com/album/cimilada-qaxootiga - It's gonna be my first stab at writing a review for IDM so it's probably gonna ****ing suck, but I wanna start somewhere :3
    February 5 02:14 PM
  • Archelirion Actually trying to write a review for the first time in forever. Hoping I can get it done later this evening. The Tarantino? Man, I've not seen that in ages.

  • CalculatingInfinity No probs mate.
    February 5 01:36 PM
  • Archelirion Cheers fella :3 It's on Halo of Flies which is basically the best distrib ever, so I'm bound to like it. How's life?
    February 5 01:27 PM
  • CalculatingInfinity Just finished. These mainly sound like a collage of samples and 8-Bit beats than full cohesive songs to me minus a few cool parts, sorry dude not really groovin' to it :/
    February 5 12:15 PM
  • FullOfSounds NP dude. I think it would be funny with more dance oriented the samples you used
    February 5 12:08 PM
  • CalculatingInfinity The break at 2:00 on the third track made me laugh not gonna lie haha.
    February 5 12:01 PM

    February 4 12:00 PM
  • FullOfSounds Okay so Mosaic was too lacking in cohesion, this one has too much. I feel like it's missing something.
    February 4 11:27 AM
  • FullOfSounds I haven't listened it myself yet, I'm excited to see how he evolved. Some of your complaints are mutual with mine on his '14 LP Mosaic
