  • Winesburgohio another problem: i'm about six tracks in and i want to go back to oneiroi, what a stellar track
    May 17 02:52 AM
  • Winesburgohio i loved the one wold that i heard it struck me as a lot of fun, goddamn public nuisances make the best music. haven't heard Claypipe even though they purport to be from my country, time to rectify that ja ja

    May 16 04:54 AM
  • sportsboy lmao the big thing is that right now it's played out as ****, like i love the nostalgic factor and all the different genre pieces but besides a few exceptions you've heard it once you've heard it all. but it'll be weird seeing kids discover this crazyass s***

  • sportsboy i feel sad i was late to vaporwave
    May 15 07:30 AM
  • ethos that vid was great :') lmao i went back from your timestamp and just watched it all. 90s were too much fun.. you don't see advertising that personal/care-free too often anymore, really miss it
    May 15 07:21 AM
  • ethos yeah, it seems pretty fair lol. like i've never played it myself but i searched it up/looked at the guidelines and it sounds like something that could be a lot of fun. what other rules do you throw into the mix and how far along are you on gold since i last responded lol? IS IT GETTING GOOD???
    May 15 07:17 AM

    May 13 02:37 AM
  • ethos have heard it around but never looked into it, lol are you playing one? some of my friends who i live w/ play pokemon competitively across the nation/texas - pokemon's pretty heavy where i stay yet i know almost nothing about it other than like 1-P mode and random names
    May 12 11:34 PM
  • ethos haha yepppp for sure dude lol, although the vids i wind up "liking/saving" on youtube are geared more towards the comedic side than anything - whenever i find myself stumbling across something neat i'll throw it your way
    May 12 08:51 AM
  • ethos LOL this is awesome, i see you have a knack for those kinda personal youtube videos that people just upload on a whim and somehow wind up becoming one of someone else's favorites. there's SO many good/funny ones out there - sharing stuff like this along w/ a few of my friends on these kind of quiet nights is always the best
    May 12 08:28 AM
  • ethos in total agreement w/ you on everything as usual and omg thank you for posting that bonus/awesome kraftwerk link, reminded me to check that album out! are the children sampled faintly around :40 from this dude's actual house or the song itself LOL? cause it's a pretty neat touch!
    May 12 08:11 AM
  • ethos i use sputnik moreso than rym for these exact moments, i mean yeah.. there's shoutboxes on rym but people rarely put it to it's full use. it just feels like communication is way more open here (mainly in reviews, how you're able to carry out your own thoughts or opinions on stuff or have a direct convo with the writer) it's way more appealing to me lol. i welcome tangents on my wall for sure lol, rym is like MASSIVE though holy s*** could go in library studying mode for an eternity
    May 12 07:53 AM
  • ethos yepppppp lol, we're prob in the same train of thought w/ all of that stuff right now. you're like already hitting so many ways i attempt to express myself to people whenever they ask. and absolutely no worries on the tangent thing dude LMAO look at ...fuk 2 or practically anyone's wall when i start shoutboxing - s*** gets way too crazy/out of hand. idk, im a somewhat talkative person whenever conversation strikes.. though it used to be WAY WAY worse
    May 12 07:49 AM
  • ethos DUDE wow i forgot that's one of the reasons i never got around to them either (particularly in re-releases, i haven't touched the new gen after sapphire/ruby). there's some about those original graphics and the perspective like you mentioned on the gameboy cartridges that just shouldn't be tampered with lol. idk, it's kinda nit-picky though.. im fine with Nintendo dishing out stuff that their audience wants - i've just always been that "early 90s/first release" kind of game guy
    May 12 07:34 AM
  • ethos to stay stubbornly affixed to one take on the entire concept. i still love christianity and a lot of it's traits, but the idea of practicing something that derives even a sliver of fear in it's deity kinda irks me, but that may just be due to being young lol. i'm glad i sit comfortably on the whole thing now though, can only wait to see where it heads X) hmm what about you? (if you don't mind me asking idk lol)
    May 12 07:28 AM
  • ethos and to answer your question i'm non-denominational (at least for now), i used to go crazy mode on learning about religions when i was lil cause my church and environment kinda bothered me a bit and just decided that's the most fitting sect for now. all that matters to me is being good with whatever god(s) exist/helping others reach that same sense of certainty - life still has a lot in store and there's a lot to learn, not sure if views will remain this way forever and im definitely not the type
    May 12 07:22 AM
  • ethos haha, yeah - you're gonna love it i can already tell. it's my brother's favorite in the franchise (hearing the heartgold re-release ho-oh theme on the first encounter ughhh). never played the re-releases cause idk lol i don't see much of a reason but man they upped the music on some tracks for sure
    May 12 07:17 AM
  • ethos i remember specifically getting into like a twenty minute debate with my parents on how pokemon was actually a very positive and great thing. like i would argue why i could watch space-jam or movies with witches yet i wasn't able to play pokemon (who's characters had such uplifting messages/quotes). like i presented it all out before them and they eventually caved in. after that i headed straight to blue/red and immediately to gold and silver. remain my favorite to this day, enjoy them!
    May 11 08:45 PM
  • ethos pokemon gold is so awesome, i was the kid that wasn't allowed to play the series as a child because the entire franchise was apparently "the devil" to my parents/the entire church back when my family was heavily religious. it didn't stop me though, i remember sneaking pokemon sapphire/ruby sessions back at my community pool with friends until one noticed how into it i was and gave me a copy. NONSTOP tears with favorite snack partnered with kool-aid jammers, dude
    May 11 08:44 PM
  • ethos lol, sorry i didn't reply to your DKR/SM64 comment. i couldn't think of anything to really say other than like "(:" im glad you got around to beating super mario 64 though, it's so essential. you rule - oh and i hooked syntheticdeath up with i'm ****in' you tonight since he ran into the same problem i had when seeking it out, so that problems all patched up. plan on watching the starcraft vid soon (possibly tonight)!
    May 11 06:23 AM
  • Wizard Do you listen to any other power electronics?
    May 10 11:17 AM
  • Wizard You like Wold? I thought it was the unsputnik way? I can't stand the logic in the users that bash the band to bits.
    May 10 01:31 AM
  • syntheticdeath daaamn son whyd he have to his heat wave stuff? :( ill keep on the lookout, fukd in the game will do until then
    May 9 08:52 PM
  • syntheticdeath aha must admit im yet to fall asleep to it! on an ever-so-slightly unrelated note, do u know where i can grab im ****in you tonight (the first one)? cannot find it anywhere, even slsk
    May 9 06:48 PM
  • syntheticdeath i'm diggin it a fair bit actually. subdued and soothing rather than the sensory overload he often delivers. yourself?

  • Deviant. Definitely a tie between Machinedrum and Dabrye's cuts; maybe half a point more to Machinedrum simply because he shows show much restraint with that beat

    May 6 08:35 AM
  • Phlegm and great i've seen Graham mentioned around the place a bit so i'll give him a go sometime this week ~ also on the topic of tmt reviews i noticed Gobby got ooooo/ooooo for his new album that i wasn't digging too much from what i heard compared to fashion lady. how'd you like etttt?
    May 5 10:46 AM
  • Phlegm aghhh guess my shoutbox doesn't like wind today - YEAH well i'm happy they did 5/5 it as that was the incentive i needed to check! it's really not casual listening ^_^ but taking the time to sit down and capture all of those haunted vibes is thrilling. especially when his(?) voice comes in out of nowhere while you're already lost in such a dense and dark soundscape. it almost feels to me like an aural horror flick. haven't heard much music that has an effect like that on me so, thanks TMT!!!!
    May 5 10:40 AM
  • Hyperion1001 yeah i picked up commissions I in asheville yesterday its very ~~
    May 4 11:49 PM
  • Phlegm yesssss, definitely got it locked in over the next week for when the clock ticks past 24:00. surreal stuff. kind of my first plunge into that type of sound as well, got any similar wrecks you wanna throw my way? (O_o and my bad my finger slipped on a condensed touch screen and removed your comment o_O)
    May 4 09:32 PM
  • kingsoby1 i do think doe eye has potential to be the p4k hipster sensation of 2k14, hah
    May 4 09:30 PM
  • kingsoby1 didn't realize that, i'll have to listen. i skipped thru the record probably twice but nothing outright grabbed me. thinking about writing some more but just dont have the desire. might try to write something up either here or at byvolume
    May 4 09:29 PM
  • Hyperion1001 have you heard that bleep 10 comp yet? all the tracks are good but im blown away by the gas track, genuinely one of the most unsettling things ive heard all year, but its so good.
    May 4 09:27 PM
  • WashboardSuds that's amazing :3 I could share several stories about times where I'm out somewhere and the music I'm listening to transports me to a different place it seems...that same wide-eyed interest in your surroundings where the atmosphere is just perfect and everything is beautiful for a brief moment - the kind of feeling that sticks with you for the rest of the day. the best music is the kind that evokes that, in my humble opinion :]
    May 4 12:51 AM
  • kingsoby1 btw, check out the new doe eye record - probably going to be top 5 or 10 for me this year. really reminds me of redeemer a bit, but not as eclectic. her cover of you'll love me when i'm dead is pretty brilliant
    May 3 05:45 PM
  • kingsoby1 i'm definitely being too harsh. The dude has a decent voice for sure; i just think the songwriting (melodies mostly) and production are borderline abhorrent :-]
    May 3 05:43 PM
  • Deviant. Idk, I kinda dig it. His music has always been a little cheeky, he definitely doesn't take himself seriously
    May 3 08:37 AM

    May 3 08:10 AM
  • ethos i just recently beat wizpig in space like a year back, sat in front of my N64 for at least two hours straight doing nothing but start__retry race.. every single time i bumped into something. beating that linked back so much lost memories trying it as a kid, such a satisfying accomplishment. i still think wizpig's final challenge is one of the hardest bosses nintendo's ever put into a game (other than canary mary's kart race on banjo tooie's cuckoo cuckoo land)
    May 3 05:22 AM
  • ethos LOL dude yesssss when wizpig's sneaky ass lifted off on that rocket i laughed so hard, spaceport alpha's music was TOOOOO goood! that sentiment as a kid when you wished a game would never end cause of how great/challenging it.. man, for the developers to slip in a part 2 for the diehard completionists so great. definite classic
    May 3 05:13 AM
  • Kman418 hey whats more weird music i'd like
    May 3 01:38 AM
  • ethos i've only heard Alcachofa so far but man it just keeps giving back and back the past two weeks i've heard it, fav tracks so far are prob Theogenese (introduced off of Waiworinao) then Y.G.H./Dexter. Super excited to dive deeper in his discog though, any pointers on where to head next? Oh and i plan on watchin the starcraft vid soon, just haven't had that late aimless youtube night vibe yet! X)
    May 2 08:08 AM
  • WashboardSuds *giggles* she's amazing, had a spiritual experience with ???? on a chilly day a the beach. seagulls literally flew scenically overhead to the horizon, have been in an alternate plane of existence ever since

  • robin look forward to reading it! i tried to collect all my writing archives of where i'm writing over 'ere http://hanginghit.tumblr.com/about
    May 1 12:13 AM
  • robin i only really use sputnik to write about old favourites now! i might elsewhere, but my understanding of electronic music is very weak (i feel very wary of reviewing hyperdub releases, i'm a newbie).. i'd love to read your take though!
    April 30 10:33 PM
  • robin i looove it.
    April 30 04:31 PM
  • Deviant. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. Thoughts?
    April 30 10:39 AM
  • ethos haha nah, i've never gotten into starcraft personally but i know a lot of friends who love and are passionate about the game. thanks for sharing it, i'll more than likely check it out tonight (have seen Codes of Honor like fifteen times already/shared at least eight). i'm sure this vid will be just as good!
    April 30 01:36 AM
  • Phlegm FRESH. really well executed and the samples are great. good vibes all around - not exactly pushing any boundaries (not that i was expecting it to) and the album does run a little long, but it's still an enjoyable listen (maybe better suited for cruising in the 'lac than lurking at home). 8}. you listened to it yet? ALSO waiting for someone to ease my pain and upload Rico to slsk so i can stop creepin' on the boomkat samples GrRRR

    April 28 01:44 AM
  • sportsboy thanks homie, i mean i've just been noticing interesting dynamics on internet culture reading about "weird twitter" and all that s*** and being on tumblr so much, and end of life #1 really encapsulates how the internet has grown and changed from something that people used sparingly in the late 80s and 90s to an integral part of human society as we know it, and for that reason i really do think it's lopatin's best work and needed an entry on here
    April 27 09:39 PM

    April 26 11:26 PM
  • Havey same
    April 26 10:59 PM
  • Hep Kat they have a few 7"s and a couple splits, but i would listen to the two LPs first. napalm dream is basically descendents-meets-husker du worship and the blind wink (my favorite) is basically moving targets-meets-husker du worship. some choice tracks are "(messy endings) in middle america," "stupid werld," "dreaming out loud #2," "lost love star lust," "a death in the family," but it's really all good s***
    April 26 06:49 PM
  • Hep Kat we've brought it up in passing before. but yeah i'm into them cuz dude from tenement, and tenement are easily one of my top 5 fave punk bands atm
    April 26 03:07 PM

  • GrandpaSeth3000 Who is your favorite rapper? And why is it Slim Guerrilla?
    April 25 09:27 PM
  • TMobotron Oh yeah, I could definitely tell they were going for it. Just was a little TOO messy in some places for me, but I gotta give it some more spins tomorrow. But anyway thanks for the recs dude, always appreciated.
    April 25 07:36 AM
  • TMobotron That gunge release you recommended me is really solid - settling at a 3.5 for now because IMO it's a bit messy/all over the place, but that's just after 1 listen. On the first track of this Need For Mirrors/HLZ release though and really digging it already. Reminds me of Icicle a lot.
    April 25 07:08 AM

  • Hyperion1001 its really sweet, its like his normal analog berlin school sound but done in a really rhythmic minimal techno style. both tracks kick ass.

  • Winesburgohio which negative effects do you mean, i'm curious? like, a certain addictive element? the ease with which these things are inquired? the influx of information/data that obfuscates other central truths? i've always thought about it as being mostly positive you see! ARGH so jealous i want into this idyllic landscape just me a pack of cigs and a thermos of da bean juice

  • Winesburgohio i'm in much the same boat, i've never left the country of my birth :OOO (though i have explored every nook and cranny and let me tell you about the nature walks here son they're a treat). OH COOL i've never even heard of it but it sounds grand (prescient perhaps?). Oh Bataille you son-of-a-gun. Adorno's theories on consumer culture might interest you - i think the internet/consumption of music in the way you and I consume it has emancipatory potential if u buy it as a theory
    April 21 01:08 PM
  • oltnabrick you would like it more if it was James Franco smh

  • Winesburgohio precisely! hmm atm i'm reading a travelogue by Paul Theroux (who sired Louis as his heir) which is written with a sardonic wit i really like AND ignites my desire to travel heaps BUT in my recent reading adventures two have stood out as fantastic: 'A Naked Singularity' and 'Austerlitz' i think you'd love them both u student of postmodernism. what are you reading dawg?
    April 20 11:07 AM
  • Winesburgohio oh man perfection itself, and good choice of 2k14 album (detour would've been a bit redundant). i find it hard to listen to after sleepless nights but at four in the morning as you wearily put down your book oh god bliss

  • Hyperion1001 lol i already ordered that ish brah, if autechres name is on it, i gotta own it
    April 16 04:10 PM
  • BeneaththeDarkOcean In terms of Far Side Virtual, I love its outdated 90's futuristic aesthetic, when everyone thought that computers were the best thing ever and could lead us into paradise instead of armageddon, like some of us do now (not to get too quasi-religious on you). It reminds me of the spaceship aesthetics of this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFXV2McmwoA.
    April 16 03:36 PM
  • Voivod Definitely! I like my dream pop short and sweet from time to time ;)
    April 16 11:53 AM
  • JamieTwort I dunno if I like it quite as much as Diamond Dust or Cymatic Cymbols (it's not too far off the latter though).

    April 10 02:48 PM
  • Hyperion1001 submers and plume are easily some of my favorite ambient works, probably because they have to much rhythm on those textures, its like listening to an ocean undulate. so good.
    April 10 03:34 AM
  • Hyperion1001 yeah ive been listening to O for a while now (olento is great) but honestly the new one is my favorite of his yet. and i love basically everything loscil has ever done.
