 | Irving MJ/Costanza, I've been a bit abrasive towards you in recent times but I know you've got brains and some serious writing skills underneath the (rather misguided) persona you so often chose to display here on this site. For what it's worth I have to say that I respect that. Hope to see you penning around here again once your ban's up (ideally on something we agree on - ha!).

 | SeaAnemone and thanks you've always been a help with writing. it's a long shot but I'd thought I might as well apply to a site called cokemachineglow.com, a music review site similar to pitchfork. I'm having second thoughts I may not apply now. I'll probably apply for staff here though now that they're looking for applicants, they're looking for 3-5 writing samples.

| SeaAnemone but still, they seem to be nice guys, some of which are good writers, some of which have fantastic taste, who have influenced me musically a lot, so there's that I guess. chan... he's not my favorite user by far lol in fact he can be a dick/bully to me, but he can also be a nice guy to interact with if i catch him on the right day. i'm generally indifferent to him. i'm mostly just opposed to the bad rap he gets from the userbase (not you) just because they've heard from other users he's mean.

| SeaAnemone about me standing up for staff-- well, to be honest it's more out of gratitude than anything I guess... sputnik (embarrassingly enough) has been the first and only source that really spurred my exploration into music and into writing about music (though that's changing, sorta), and the staff were a huge part of that. before I joined I loved reading their reviews and some of the staff's taste is impeccable. I say that as a generalization, obviously there are big exceptions.

| SeaAnemone hey MJ I know I've asked you this before I think... but you know I respect your critiques and I would really appreciate it if you could point out a few reviews of mine you think would look good on an application for a non-sputnik site i'm planning on applying to (even though it's a long shot but oh well). if you don't have time or whatever that's fine, but it would help

| SeaAnemone haha yeah i know i give off an air of ass-kissing sometimes but whatever... i just find some staff members easier to get along with than some users and they know more about music mostly but obviously there's many exceptions. oh well... geez I can't believe people are taking your CoC review so seriously. I didn't know it was yours first time I saw it, thought it was hilarious and even honestly really insightful at some parts haha.

 | stillexist Hey man, I just read you City of Caterpillar review and really liked it. It was actually really vindicating for me because it proved a lot of the people on this site just don't recognize good writing. I've had pretty low approval ratings and it baffles my mind because it seems obvious that my writing is superior to many of the 9th grade level writers who are popular here. I guess you're just ridiculously pretentious if you dare to approach a record from a philosophical or ontological angle!
