| PistolPete Thanks bud! Haven't been jamming too much potty stuff but I saw The Ocean play live last night which was really good. Their moodier newer album sounded great on stage. Anticipating new Suldusk soon and then for a bit of fun try this band called AlphaWhores. It's not post metal but it's a fun sludgy/fuzzy alt rock band from Panama.
| PistolPete The album Eyrth came out with late last year is worth a listen, very typical stuff tho
| PistolPete Love seeing that you enjoyed the new Slowdive. I also got into it after being pretty lukewarm about them in general. I like how moody and atmospheric this new one is. Still warming up to new Heretoir, but their earlier EP Wastelands from May is EXCELLENT. Also...did a new album by Year of No Light come out? I see one called Mneme on Apple Music and it's definitely posty...but no mention on their band camp or insta or anything? I'm so confused...Hope you're having a great year though!
| PistolPete Haven?t been listening to much heavy stuff lately but this newer band Omen Astra is hitting the ears nicely. Sounds like Cranial a bit. Also Canadian ?
| PistolPete Yes new Elder was a nice return to form. Also like that you enjoyed Rolo Tomassi that was a favourite from last year too.
| PistolPete New Spotlights is delicious. The corny album title and cover had me fooled! Hope you?re doing well
| DarkNoctus honestly i'm not a huge fan of sax so those bits didn't hit me but the whole record is very atmospheric and serene - i really like it!
| DarkNoctus so excited for this record, this track is lovely
| PistolPete I'm sure you already heard these but I stumbled upon the new albums by both Magnatar and Absent in Body (members from Neurosis and AMENRA). Both are excellent.
| PistolPete Lol, Im not sure I know that band, what is the full name? Sorry, I was drawing a blank and you always new more in this genre than me. People are mixed on Russian Circles new song but I was vibing to it this morning when I listened
| PistolPete I like new BOG but like you I don?t remember the other album well. Great EP though. I would recommend new Noorvik but I found it really boring. Conjurers new album should be good
| PistolPete I?m still not sold on new E-L-R, feels like it?s only a fragment of what they can do. I have my eye on new Helms Alee they always have some good tunes. Plus new album from Noorvik dropped today. It?s very long even for them, one song is 15 mins! Boys were feelin ambitious
| PistolPete I was gonna message you about this. I jammed it this weekend and I love how straight to the point, no bulls*** it is. Really liking it, they seem to be settling into a groove like Moanaa is
| PistolPete I went from not really digging Toundras new album to vibing a lot more with it this week while I worked. I love the opening three part suite.
| PistolPete Hey buddy, good to hear from you! I had lost touch a bit with that band but I am totally ready to sink my teeth into a 73 minute behemoth by them. They?re great. I have been kinda disappointed in this area of metal this year but you seem to finding lots to get into. Any others?
| Relinquished niceee, I?m thinkng doing blurbs too. We can branch out. It took me some time after 2012 to accept post metal didn?t have to be sludgy.
| Relinquished I?m the same. I?m excited to see your choices tho. You can do writeups to, I?ll include them.
| Relinquished awrelinquished@gmail.com - if you want you can literally just do a list of anything and all you can think of. I'll make a part 2 if need be. I'll vet your picks in case lol just kidding I trust your judgements.
| Relinquished I'll send you my email one of these days to trade lists of what we want to showcase
| Relinquished I think it's time my friend, we gotta make that post metal comprehensive list
| parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=196835
| RogueNine I heard a single or two off of it but I haven't heard the whole thing yet. It'll be in my rotation shortly.
| PistolPete Buddy...I think we got jibbed on the Bossk album, 3 interludes and a closing song that kinda feels like one as well. 2 songs with vocals which are good but I can't shake the feeling this resembles Irreversible's final album where there's more filler than substance.
| Pikazilla Will check! I've been diving into older releases recently, because I haven't been into much 2021 stuff. I'll let you know what I think :3
| PistolPete I'll give it a listen, aoty for you means it's a safe bet I'll enjoy it. I checked out Moanaa as well, it's excellent. I think I like their EP "Torches" the best still bc it has the song "Red" but I really like how much they've dialed up the intensity in their music now it feels epic.
| PistolPete Fack, it?s not out on streaming sites I might have to just go buy it off bandcamp. They?re worth it though, this is good to hear they?ve really outdone themselves these past couple years
| PistolPete The new album by Sunnata is enjoyable some of the final songs on the album remind of that band Sleestak you showed me. Earlier parts of the album feel more grunge like a proggier Alice in Chains
| PistolPete Yeah that new Moanaa song is nice, very good sound they have going these days. Excited for the new album in March
| PistolPete I?m happy it?s out finally. Glad you?re enjoying it though despite it being a bit more simplified. Their bass player is amazing eh? Truly the only album so far this year I?ve actually been thrilled with. Hope you?re doing well!
| Sniff thankz you atmospheric sludge metal dad
| PistolPete Were you aware Ingrina came out with a new album this year? I was not until about a minute ago. ?
| WattPheasant Hey, I'm glad you liked my review. I'm kind of new to the whole reviewing thing. But yeah, "Raya" was a big disappointment to me since I'm a huge fan of Psychonaut.
| MarsKid Heya mate. Saw you liked these guys back in 2018. I stumbled on them looking for late year jams. They've got a new one out and it's pretty neat! https://dawnwalker.bandcamp.com/album/ages
| PistolPete https://martlet.bandcamp.com/album/chroma. Very electronic-heavy instrumental post-Metal.
| PistolPete Thanks man! New pg.lost track is really good been blasting it a lot
| PistolPete Check out a project called Carved into the Sun. Debut S/T album out today, very good!
| RogueNine You may dig the new one from Asian Death Crustacean. Calc originally rec'd it. Lots of post elements.
| PistolPete Yeah it has been slim pickings this year, but back part of the year "should" have new The Ocean, Sarin, neander, and maybe one more miracle like Bossk. Thanks, I'll check these guys out. I don't have anything I can share with you though, sawry :(
| PistolPete Thanks man, I've been really digging Sleestak's sound and the new album just adds to my appreciation, it sounds stellar. I didn't find enough really distinctive about Zealand the North though sorry but tried them anyways. You should check out the latest OHHMS (Holy Roar records) and Lesser Glow (Pelagic records) albums, both were great.
| PistolPete I saw, have been heavily anticipating it. They worked on it so slowly. This Moanaa EP and Sleestak album are what I was missing man, thanks for showing me. Did you check out the new Telepathy album this year yet, I thought it was really strong.
| GuanoBumbershoot https://www.sputnikmusic.com/news/32203/Amia-Venera-Landscape-post-song/article about them having material for 4 more albums
| parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81595/Prong-Primitive-Origins/
| PistolPete I?ll check em both out, loved the opening track on the Sleestak album you linked so very excited. That band Holy Fawn came out with an EP earlier this year too, you checked it out yet?
| PistolPete I love that album! Transmission0 is this forgotten band from the mid-2000s it looks like they only ever made the one album. I love ?Cocoon? and ?Fragments?. Loving the 4.5 for Mountaineer also, hope your summers going well!
| PistolPete You need to hear the new album Bloodletting by Mountaineer. It's really stunning, you will enjoy.
| Relinquished yea since it?s been 14 years before streaming and youtube became an institution, internet history won?t be kind. here?s the yt link: https://youtu.be/Y38p6SaAtpk
| Relinquished sir that is 2007 post metal and that is rare. has more of a gothic, The Cure, vibe with Isis-like riffing.
| Dewinged Dude you playing Destiny 2!? Add me! PS4?
| Emim Nice to see another destiny 2 fanatic around these parts
| PistolPete There?s a band called Still Motions that released their debut album ?Mirrors? last weekend. It?s typical post-rock but I enjoyed it quite a bit if you?re up for something like that.
| JLR2DEG Check this out - https://itonlyendsonce.bandcamp.com/releases
| JLR2DEG Nice find...I love bands like Calvaire that are able to blend so many styles - black metal, screamo, post rock, etc. Since I transitioned from screamo to black metal/blackgaze, this combination is especially interesting to me. I might get some crap from people but this combinaton of styles is what makes Deafheaven's Sunbather such a one of a kind album.
| DarkNoctus thank you kindly, was meaning to check this out. i didn't like the other record they put out but the single they dropped from this was much better.
| aidanbouw2005 You challenged me to name my favorite song off Somewhere In Time? Challenge accepted! My second favorite Maiden song Caught Somewhere In Time takes the cake!
| PistolPete There's also a new Spotlights EP out too
| PistolPete New album by Telepathy was pretty good!
| Sniff brah: https://dystopianfuturemovies.bandcamp.com/album/inviolate
| PistolPete I know man they?re stellar and surprisingly well known already on the site. Check out the album ?Colossus? by Kosatka. Nice bit of instrumental metal with some crunch to it.
| PistolPete ?ód? is recording new stuff this spring. Will check out Morne too!
| parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1034220
| PistolPete Have you heard "Death Spells" by Holy Fawn? Came out in 2018, I missed it but it's great.
| PistolPete Basement Paintings kind of sound like Tool!
| PistolPete New E-L-R is great man, I think you?re really starting to zone in on my style lol I?m quite predictable now
| PistolPete I did check new PSOTY out actually! I was a tad mixed mainly because I loved their 2014 album so much. But this is an album I?d definitely listen to again it was just not what I expected.
| Relinquished which metalcore record was the one that won you over lol
| Gnocchi I did it, not sure it will make you happy but
| PistolPete Oh wow so PSOTY did end up coming out with something. Will check I love their last album
| PistolPete You have to check out the new Ghosts of Glaciers album. Some of the best post-metal I've heard all year.
| PistolPete New Cranial is out I think, not on streaming services yet though.
| DarkNoctus currently spinning the 180g LP on my turntable right now it's SO GOOD AAAAAA
| kris. https://discord.gg/UY8SrVH get IN HERE
| PistolPete This is some juicy ass riffage thanks for the rec. Have you heard Degraey's album Reveries? It's damn good. One of my fave album to spin these days.
| PistolPete Will do! You should check out this instrumental band called Ghosts of Glaciers. They have a new song called ?Epigenesis? you should listen to. I guess an album is eventually on its way too.
| PistolPete New Cranial in late September. They have a record release show on Sept 28. Hope it crushes my soul.
| PistolPete New Sarin album is recorded and they?re just mixing and finishing it. They got a new bassist earlier in the year too.
| Sniff Damn the Codeia album hecking owns
| PistolPete Yeah I downloaded it last week it?s very good I?ve been a fan of them since last year when I saw Sarin open for them. I love their sound a lot
| Dewinged Nice dude, gonna add it to the deweekly list!
| PistolPete Novarupta is actually the project of the guy who left the Moth Gatherer, believe it or not. He uses a rotating cast of people though obviously, not just him.
| Hawks Bro that A Secret Revealed album is AMAZING.
| PistolPete Check out Novarupta's new album "Disillusionned Fire", they're a bit of a supergroup/mish-mash of many bands' members. Pretty decent
| Sniff did you check the dead to a dying world album already? feels like it should be up your alley
| Hawks Looks right up my alley, will jam within the next few days bro. m/
| Sniff oh yeah i found it at rym. haven't had much time lately. life's been keeping me too busy :(
| DDDeftoneDDD Yeah man. Meanwhile I ended up checking Conjurer there and it was ****ing awesome. Hoping you re right, can t wait to check Thou there! I'm following audiotree now. TKS m/

| PistolPete https://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Becoming-The-Lion/110095/
| Dewinged Thanks for that Nauticus link man, gonna check. There's quite a gap between your rating and Sniff's lol
| PistolPete I will download and listen thanks! Your end of year list got me to check out kerretta and re-check Mol out. Not sure what didn?t click the first time with Jord, it?s quite good.
| PistolPete I ended up posting my EOY list today out of boredom at work. You've probably heard everything on it that's up your alley lol most of the metal were your recs to begin with so thanks. Looking forward to reading yours!
| Sniff did you see this?http://arcticdrones.com/staff-picks/post-rock-metal-50-best-releases-2018/?fbclid=IwAR05yXE78k0lpUUFpIc6uHfFJDa01ZHZX4QTSSnkHrtwfvhSEyx37nhfZtI
| DarkNoctus they're on my list! new album in 2019 too...
| DarkNoctus i'm totally obsessed with that klone record - thank you so much
| Dewinged Haha I like it but I always have the same problem with Esben, they bore me to death but I like them.
| Relinquished deal, been meaning to get back to you on that collab
| DarkNoctus oh man, wonderful shout on this album - it's great! thank you!
| PistolPete So what do you think is the best post-metal you heard this year? I ask in case I haven't given it a try yet.
| Sniff Also I see no teamster rating for this? https://spurv.bandcamp.com/album/myra
| Sniff It's not post metal but I hope you enjoy anyways
| Sniff https://nasvikensmaffian.bandcamp.com/album/outlaw-chiptune-strike-16
| Sniff Did i tell you i have a new ep out?
| PistolPete Wow it's ridiculously tasty. Dec 14th release date, can't wait!
| PistolPete Have you heard the album "Unfold the God Man" by Psychonaut? I can't describe it but listen if you get a chance. Rating here isn't high but I'm intrigued by it so far, it jumps around genres a lot.
| PistolPete Gonna go check out Sarin this weekend in Toronto opening for Spotlights and one other band. Pumped.
| Sniff Good label. Gotta check
| PistolPete Ended up blasting "Light" by Irreversible. It's stellar, has a bit more of an alt rock edge to it, and kind gets better as the album plays on. Had to grow on me first though.
| PistolPete Somehow I have to get the Moth Gatherer to stop being labelled Alt Rock / Rock on this site. It shouldn't bother me as much as it does but I guess it means enough to me. Who the hell added them to the site, I need to educate them. Their LP3 is coming soon though!
| Kaiwaz please come to discord, need to talk to you about something important, if you can't no big deal.
| mindleviticus I've heard of them, never checked them out though, might have to now!
| mindleviticus oh dude i've heard all of their stuff that is a super dense album
| mindleviticus man Mouth of the Architect's Quietly is so good it took a while to truly sink in but it's a 5 for me now

| Kaiwaz have time to chitchat bro? If not it's all good man
| AlexKzillion Ayo I posted a list tyring to start a fantasy league or two you should join.
| Sniff I'll add it to my checklist and hope to get to it soon
| PistolPete Thanks man I?ll check it out! Did you check out The Ever Living?s debut EP yet? It was also good.
| Titan I don't think you're a between the buried and me fan, and if you aren't familar, give Automata II a shot. I think you'll dig it. Band has many different sides to them, excellent progressive metal...
| brainmelter yes, earthcult right? It's pre cool but I felt like they could have done more with what they had going on; what you think?
| PistolPete You were right. I can?t stop listening to it. Gorgeous stuff, I really like Incandescent Array and Foreboding Epiphany in particular.
| Dewinged Whoa nice, thanks for sharing man, will check it!
| PistolPete I think those guys randomly followed me on insta. So their latest album is quite good eh? I will give it a try then thx
| PistolPete Should check out Archelon's debut album "Tribe of Suns". Really good post/sludge metal with even some Mastodon vibes in parts.
| PistolPete Wonderful, that shall be what I listen to on my drive home today! Great doing business with you.
| PistolPete Have you heard of the band ?The Moth Gatherer?? Very good post-metal band from sweden. Currently getting into their stuff, should have a third album coming out this year.
| Dewinged Checking Meliora now, mind blowing, like it way more than the last one, which is also good, don't get me wrong. But that opener in Meliora, holy s***e.
| Dewinged "Finally, new music from this band. Thanks to whoever put this in the database!" I did! ;)
| Sniff it's supposed to be Erdve but i guess you found that out. I saw Sagor Som Leder mot Slutet play live this past fall decent post rock/post metal crossover
| Sniff Im gonna need you to check the Erve album out
| clavier really glad that you brought Glassing into people's sphere of awareness. I heard of them from tacos, who knew them from Sniff, who said that you were the OG.
| Kaiwaz I think you would like my latest recording, please get back to me!https://youtu.be/23y7W1xpclU
| Sniff sheirt I don't know where you find all this good stuff but this is a amazing, despite the messy url
| PitchforkArms No problem, dude.Nick Yonce - VocalsAndrew Kallicragis - Guitar / Clean VocalsJason Kallicragis - Bass / VocalsFrank Tedeschi - Drums
| Papa Universe https://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Container-47/98221/
| Papa Universe post-rock produced as post-punk played as psychedelic
| Sniff Also that sample that starts the Of Noah record is probably the most overused sample in the history of sample usages
| Sniff I don't see a teamster rating for Red Harvest - HyBreed
| PistolPete You were right about that Au-Dessus album, pretty good stuff. I don't think I'm quite as crazy yet with the whole post/black metal kick but each year I get closer to enjoying that stuff. These guys remind me of that "The Old Great Ones" album I had on my end of year list. You should check their latest out if you haven't yet
| Sniff I'm still processing Glassing. It's freaking amazing.
| Sniff https://loudragemusic.bandcamp.com/album/kultika-pursuance back at ya
| Papa Universe if you have troubles with this new CaimanJesus' round, give him Our House by Madness. You can't go wrong with that song. Just hope he doesn't reject it.
| Dewinged Yes! That Spotlights album it's pretty good. I was hoping it featured female vocals too but oh well. Still, good stuff.
| Sniff Oh sweet. I don't know if I ever thanked you for the lost you made. Great stuff on it
| Sniff Not a fan of the transition unfortunately
| Papa Universe Another Heaven review is up. Maybe not as jolly as you'd probably hoped, but still. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/75406/Another-Heaven-I-You-Are-Loved/
| Sniff I love how much it really sounds french
| MetalSoliloquy Yeah man! Glad this got at least one more rating, haha.
| Sniff For your post everything list. https://www.popmatters.com/ylva-meta-premiere-2509403843.html
| Relinquished we'll prob overlap with lot of artists lol but that's ok. yea we can branch off into those genres, as long dude that they maintain a strong metal/post-rock component.
| Relinquished yea def, sorry for the late response. we should make a list of what we consider as essential, next-steps, and post-metal fusions of sorts, and then compare our lists.
| Relinquished aye teamster we should team up for the ultimate post-metal list
| Orb oh dude.... sick!!!! Thx
| neekafat Yo I'm hopin' to move the Genres comp forward soon so submit your votes when you get a chance!
| Conmaniac DinosaurJones isnt ur partner, is that still ur rec?
| Satellite hey man, your fantasy lineup needs some attention. you're in first place though!!!!!!!!
| Conmaniac hey check the Post Punk list, there is a twist and you need to read/pick a rec
| Conmaniac rec one more album, tyler rec'd that Interpol album already!!
| Conmaniac new round, rec 3 albums plz! http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=177201
| Papa Universe That's if you don't feel like looking into it much... and I also don't really want to prolong this any more than it already is.
