But there is a good wide range of module choices. its very much a "go away and study your own particular interests" sort of degree though, with lecturers just there to give casual guidance. the lectures can be a bit of a bore for that reason, as they just cram all the actual required info into them making them quite dry. seminars on the others hand have been really good.

 | ZombicidalMan You should look into the J Mascis Jazzmaster. It's a Squier but it has really nice pickups and a lot of American-grade hardware. I bought one thinking I'd need to pour money into it but so far I haven't bought anything for it except strings. They are fantastic (and cost about $450)

(plus there's weed mead which is delicious) Also kinda understandable, mead is mostly a Germanic thing, i.e. popular here and in Scandinavian countries. Partially also in Scotland (that's where the word "honeymoon" derives from, ancient celtic ritual where they drank mead) but not to the same degree.

| Mort. yeah, philosophy is marked pretty harshly, due to the fact that one word slip up can ruin a large part of your essay, like if you put the word "judgement" instead of "opinion". what uni do you go to?

| Mort. UEA, Birmingham, Reading, Leeds and Canterbury. didn't do so great in my AS's (just well enough to go onto second year) so I may retake my second year of college if I need to. spent too much of last year ****ing about and treating my A levels like gcses.

| Wolfhorde If not, well - good luck bumming around for some years. The other aspect is that most universities are state-funded, i.e. their faculties aren't always that good. Add to that some good ol' nostalgia and you've got antiquated materials from the 50s/60s and 70s.

| Wolfhorde You do your baccalaureate on a "Gymnasium", then you apply for a university and then - depending on the subject of study - they will do the math on the NC and evaluate whether you fit or not. NC is usually your GPA with some adjustments downards or upward depending on where you did your baccalaureate, some subjects also give a special emphasis to certain grades. Then they will subtract or add "waiting time" and then - if there's an open space and your NC fits, you get a place to study.
