| CaptainPlasma Classic on Depeche Mode - Delta Machine imao. This joke of a site needs you though.
| CaptainPlasma pizzamachine, turned out he isn't a troll after all.
| pizzamachine I am glad you have carved out a nice life for yourself. :] it has indeed been a while, I used to encounter you all the time and now you are never around uuuggh. It is what is, users disappear. Still, you are missed. Stay cool man.
| TheSpaceMan Oh cool, if you drop a rec I'll check when I'm looking for something new
| TheSpaceMan Hey not sure if you're still around but have you hears the new shpongle? I remember talking about them with you when I first joined the site
| Tunaboy45 New Cradle Of Filth is fantastic, some of their best riffs in years. Let's hope this lineup sticks around.
| bloc Dare To Live, All In All, and Angels Falling are awesome on that album
| bloc Damn man, I don't think I've even heard that first Rotersand track before and it kills! I gotta check the album out and especially that song!
| bloc Dude holy hell, nice work!
| bloc Ah nice. I'm gonna lay off music buying for a few months actually, as I went on a HUGE spree last September. There are still quite a few albums I want to buy, which I can wait for, but a number of them are really rare/expensive : (
| bloc LOL damn son. The only futurepop albums I own are all the m.i.a.b material. Were they cheap? When it comes to these uncommon listens they're either really expensive or really cheap.
| bloc New THYX album leaked!
| Underflow No worries, man! I understand you didn't have that intention, but I have to say it turned out for the best. And thanks for the compliment. I've been trying to step up my game lately with my reviews. By the way, if you liked Demon I recommend you give their 2012/2007 album Night a shot, too. It's beautiful stuff.
| Underflow Wanted to drop by an personally thank you for pointing out what you did yesterday. I think that made the review read a bit better with the subtle changes I made, and I feel like the album is better represented now. Danke!
| bloc Yeah you could be correct on both accounts
| bloc Hmm, usually when that sort of thing happens the original band sues. I wonder why that didn't happen this time.
| bloc LOL hell man I've never even heard the original song before :P But after giving both songs a listen, I'm liking the original actually! And since when did Destroid change their name to DSTR????
| bloc Anytime dude, I'll see you on the other side
| bloc I wouldn't say it's much different than their most recent stuff then. Still pretty slick and well produced futurepop though. And the vocals sound different in a good way.
| bloc Now that I think about it, State of the U-N-I-O-N released an album recently and it was actually quite good.
| bloc Bah, who the hell even LISTENS to EBM? ;)
| bloc Other than one or two, I can HARDLY recall a recent album that I can honestly say I love. And what's worse, the two albums I do love are are from bands I love...There's just no new artist that's really striking a chord with me, you know?
| bloc But Modern Ruin had The Beauty And The Grace! That song is sooooo good! As long as Neuroticfish is AT LEAST a 3.5, hell, that's pretty much a 5/5 by today's standards :P
| bloc Hell yeah man, that album has the signature futurepop sound. And haha, your Covenant rating really surprises me :P But I gotta tell you, for the past few years, I've just keep asking for ONE awesome EBM album to satisfy my needs each year. Sometimes, it comes and sometimes it doesn't. Like last year? There wasn't a damn thing worth keeping (unless I'm forgetting something). As long as the new Neuroticfish album is awesome, I'll be satisfied for the rest of the year!
| bloc Like seriously, I have been waiting for just that classic futurepop sound and who better to bring it back than Neuroticfish? It's funny because this is the same guy who has a song with a sample that says "EBM is dead" haha
| Eloriaz I guess I like the sort of euphoria that permeates it. It has pop sensibilities but remains cinematic at the same time. Its feeling of grandiose really grips me. I'll give you feedback on the albums you mentioned when I get to them, I must be in for a treat then!
| Eloriaz Hey man! Not yet but I look forward to, especially if you prefer them to Wide Angle. How are they different? :O
| bloc Pretty cool track. Sounds influenced by a whole bunch of stuff.
| bloc Haha, that's cold man. I'm thinking it'll be a 3 or 3.5 max.
| bloc Son of a- There's a new VNV Nation album that leaked!
| bloc Agreed, he's got a great set of pipes
| bloc Will do. Last album was surprisingly dark.
| bloc He has that voice that just screams ebm, I know what you mean. Reminds me of the guy from Ashbury Heights.
| bloc What's even sadder is that I didn't even remember I had even listened to it! I haven't listened to much of their huge discog, but I will admit they have the ebm thing down quite well. The current ebm/futurepop scene is saturated with sub average releases imo and this one just sounded like another one of those.
| Underflow I wish I didn't have to type this, but the rating for me is drifting somewhere between a 2.5 and a 3. Much of the album is comprised of second-rate pop songs that feel entirely forced into the "classic" Nine Inch Nails atmosphere, while the rest functions as aimless soundscape exercises.
| Underflow I typically don't write my best for sound offs (I save that for the rare review I contribute), but you encouraged me to put a little more effort into mine this time, so thanks for that! And yeah, I think Sputnik will be well-covered on reviews for this album.
| Underflow Dig your sound off for Hesitation Marks. You hit the nail on the head (no pun intended).
| Maniac! Whatever you decide, we'd be happy to have you as a normal user anyway! Anyone can sign up and review/blog.
| Maniac! Haha, I'm guessing that's a no?
| bloc Me too. It's been too long since I heard anything synth related that was memorable.
| bloc OMG this is awesome!
| Maniac! You can review or blog whatever the hell you want. Obviously new material is encouraged because of its relevance, but there are no restrictions.
| Maniac! I can understand that. I wouldn't say staff commitments are too strenuous, though. We have everyone scheduled to post a blog post or review once every other week, with whatever else they want in between.
| Maniac! Hey there. I know we haven't talked too much in the past, but I'm quite fond of your reviews. I was wondering if you'd be interested in a staff position for this site that I run. We allow people to sign up and review/blog/discuss movies, music, games, television, and literature. Take a look and let me know if you're interested :) - http://mediasnobs.com
| Dreamflight to each his own then. :)that was one of the first "metal" albums I've heard so I probably value it more than everyone else.
| Brostep You may want to check the new Alix Perez LP (Chroma Chords). About halfway through my first listen and it's killer so far, "Playing Games" is so smooth
| bloc That's the question we've been wondering for centuries now haha
| bloc Yeah that one seems to be the favourite so far. I agree, it does sound like older DP which is nice but I still wouldn't call it great or anything...
| bloc Thanks a bunch, I suppose you're not digging RAM too much either? I find it hard to believe this is what Daft Punk is passing off as the new album. Half the tracks are a generic funk guitar riff looped over and over again for God's sake...
| kitsch love the industrial portion of your pie chart bro! not many of us on sputnik. do you listen to much new wave/goth/post punk?
| bloc Yeah that's one of my favourite songs off this. I wouldn't mind if those vocals appeared on most of the tracks tbh.
| bloc Oooh a 4.5? Glad you're liking it! I really like how the tracks are structured like a typical song. Add a vocalist on top of these songs and they'd be even more of a hit I think.
| RangDang Yeah it was fantastic, and i'm not happy with their later work either. They're releasing a new album this year though. 'Further' is def my favorite song by the guys though
| RangDang Can see your a big VNV Nation fan. What's your favorite album by the guys? Judgement was by far their best in my opinion. I love the cinematic feel, it carries deep emotion
| slipnslide hello acanthis friend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcJWjKFZTLM
| bloc I saw your comment on its thread : )
| bloc Oh yeah...Blaqk Audio...haha, forgot about them after that bland second album!
| bloc Nice, what did you think of it?
| bloc DUUUUUUUUUDE nice find. So relieved to hear that the song is actually awesome.
| bloc Ah, glad to hear things are decent at least.
| bloc Yep those were good times. And it's been a long time since I listened to any MIAB. I hope you are doing well.
| CaptainDooRight sheck me new al yee - http://trvth.bandcamp.com/album/black-horse-plague
| bloc For me it's all about thrash these days haha
| bloc Teaser sounds like more of the same. Assuming there is ever another MIAB album this should keep me satisfied for now.
| bloc Holy hell nice find dude. I feel like the debut just came out even though we were waiting forever for it to come out. I suppose this is better than having neither MIAB or THYX at all this year (hell, at least this is now ONE industrial album to look forward to) but I always felt as though THYX was a watered down version of MIAB, you know? Still enjoyable, but not as much depth.
| Willie Ha ha. I tried to like it.
| bloc Oooh, sounds pretty action packed
| bloc Oh, it's a woman? Extra points!
| bloc Either my mind is shady, or I've never heard of Android Lust before. Sounds pretty unique though, like a darker Swarms or something.
| Wizard Well dude, tell your parents rest assured that a liscensed hort tech/ landscape designer from Canada approved of the name. Tell you're parents to get the cultivar "White Water" Acanthus. Stunning plant!!!
| Wizard Did you know that Acanthus is a latin word for the perennial flower Bears Breaches? That's my field of work and I found it funny that you chose such an unusual username after and unusual perennial.
| Keyblade Ah one of my favorite tracks, sweet.
| Keyblade Yeah me too, I'm still kinda hung up on this one haha. Also bro, check out Mindflowers - Improgressive, another jazz/prog metal fusion band from Hungary...it's one of my favorite albums ever.
| Keyblade Great to see you dig SP dude. m/
| bloc Yeah, I was not expecting the clean vocals at all. They didn't sound bad, but the harsh vocals are what made the act really good.
| bloc Was looking around and boom, I saw a new Panic Lift album :D But surprise, surprise, it sucks...
| Brostep THAT SONG IS FANTASTIC. reminds me of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyiB_rkob8o (kill the noise pt. 1 - kill the noise). It's a little better though and I'll be downloading the album later today, thanks a ton for the rec! Honestly I could draw similarities between GRiZ and the Glitch Mob, which isn't necessarily a bad thing since I thought Drink the Sea was the shiiiyat. Don't recommend this one to Deviant though ;)
| bloc Haha dude, you need to give ME some EBM recs haha. I haven't listened to a single EBM album in several months now. There's just so many other (and maybe even better) things to listen to these days! I skim my usual ebm blogs daily but I never get the urge to download a single thing off them.
| bloc Yep dude, I checked it out and it was quite enjoyable. I was almost about to skip it not only because I've never been a big fan of the band, but because of the lame song title....
| bloc Yeah man, I'm a big fan of psytrance. All I could do was skim through the track for now, but it's sounding pretty solid!
| Deviant. Well if you're going to use software, then you're going to use software. It can be a good way to start out if you're just walking into the genre(s) you're going to be playing
| bloc Personally I thought the album that track is on was boring, but the track itself is a diamond in the rough.
| bloc You weren't kidding about I'm Not There, that song is killer. This makes me realize how hit or miss Ashbury Heights can be; their albums are always split between amazing songs and boring ones. You've got to listen to their song Unbearable Beauty though, best futurepop song of 2010 imo.
| bloc I've had that C-Drone sitting on my pc for a while now. Your soundoff is telling me to listen to it asap!
| breakingthefragile I'm sorry man, but that Skrillex song with Damian I really can't stand. It just sounds so empty and simplistic to me, it has the most mind-numbingly basic hook and when that high pitched wubbing comes in it gives me a headache. Just My opinion though lol.
| bloc Yeah, I saw it but decided to pass on it. Never been a big fan of Haujobb.
| bloc I hear ya, haven't listened to an industrial album since A23's new one.
| twlight I haven't heard it yet, thanks for sharing man. Pretty awesome track
| bloc Cool dude. Thanks.
| bloc Damn this is solid as a rock. Compliments to him!
| bloc My rating is pretty generous. Like I were to warm up to the album then THAT would be the score. Otherwise, I see it dropping.
| bloc Not gonna lie, I was kinda bored by it. It sounded a lot like his stuff on Compass (which I really like btw) in terms of production but it just didn't grab me at all. It is possible that I just wasn't in the mood to listen to futurepop at the time so to be fair it needs more listens. Did you check it out yet?
| Maniac! just keep it in mind for later :)
| Maniac! Sir. You should review for my site. Movies, Games, Music, a blog section. Do it up. http://wiredreviewers.com/
| Vesper Yeah, can't say I'd ever think you were a Manowar fan, haha... nor myself...
| Vesper I have been told that I sometimes sound unnervingly like Balls, haha. And you should always read my comments with Manowar in the background.
| Vesper Haha, yeah, I understand the urge to bash something once in a while, although I try not to do it too often, unless someone wants to have some kind of discussion with me about it from a different perspective. Then I crush them in debate and hear the lamentation of their women. :P
| Vesper Lol, I didn't check back after that comment, and the list seems to have beend - maybe I pissed andcas off, haha.
| Wolfhorde Actually saw them on an older Dev list I accidentally stumbled over and it sounded good so I checked it out. Stuff like Pistolero is just too good.
| Wolfhorde You're welcome, man. Idk, it depends if there's still some of that sweet world/tribal influence/"normal" instruments in general. But especially the prior, I really dig that stuff. As much as Jazz Influences in "Electronica".
| Wolfhorde Nice Juno Reactor review, can't believe as someone who loves stuff like Shpongle I never heard of them before.
| BassDemon333 I saw that Pogo (MW Gacy) was selling one of his keyboards he used in live performances with Marilyn Manson on the tours for Holy Hood, The Golden Age of Grotesque, and Lest We Forget on ebay and I couldnt resist, I bought it. Looks pretty ****ing awesome and it works great too, came with a signed letter from him.
| bloc Sounds healthy ;)
| bloc I envy you; for the past few months I've been bouncing between genres like a rubber ball.
| bloc Yeah I just saw the 4.5 for the Overseer album! (Damn, I'm good) But I totally agree with you. Seems like big beat was a thing for only a few years and then was suddenly forgotten. Even the guys who used to do it don't even sound like that anymore...I sometimes do miss the music, but finding a guy who does it well has always been challenging.
| bloc Happy to help, I knew it would : )
| Athom no offense, just explaining.
| Athom I got a promo for that Daytrader album because I liked their EP. Staff rules are if I get a promo I have to review it. After receiving said promo I realized I was entirely indifferent to said album. I'm not gonna force out 600 words on something that really should just be "oh it's ok i guess."
| bloc They came to Toronto late last year I think, but it was with Dir En Grey headlining. I never went...
| bloc OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN. Recording in the fall, would mean what? A release early 2013? Maybe even late 2012?
| bloc Also, that new Essence Of Mind album leaked, Indifference. It's a good blend of electro and rock. Dunno if I'll like it haha, but I've noticed you dig that combination.
| bloc I don't doubt that he will. Maybe then I might check out the full album.
| bloc I checked out that one song with the video that has the Daft Punk looking dude in it but it didn't sound that appealing to me.
| Eclecticist okay well then I may review it, I have two electronic reviews to get out of the way already first but I may get to the new DD by the end of the week
| Eclecticist so is the new Detroit Diesel album aoty? you should do the honours of writing the review for it
| bloc And good call on Chrom, glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. I knew I wasn't crazy after all ;)
| bloc I'm downloading it too ha
| bloc Now how the HELL did you know I would love this song?
| bloc Haha thanks for reminding me to listen to that IR album
| bloc Whoa whoa whoa, this album RAPES
| bloc Hey hey, I saw this on a blog a while back but didn't think of getting it. But I guess now's a better time than any!
| bloc Yeah, the pricing is definitely up there. I doubt that has too much effect on their traffic though; seems to be a popular site.
| bloc But speaking of Beatport, this site is pretty cool. I've never actually visited it before. Like you can actually listen to all 5 songs right on the site.
| bloc Ehhh, I dunno man...Sounds worse...
| Willie Yeah. I guess someone is taking notice somewhere. Check your e-mail. Also, Id your e-mail from my shoutbox.
| Willie Hey. We got a promo/review request and they mentioned you by name. What's your e-mail?
| Maniac! Glad to see you love Battle of Mice
| Tyrannic Oh lol wow, devs got everyone covered. I didn't get any sleep last night and I've been jamming this, like audible caffeine
| Tyrannic you should check out an album called genesis device by audio. dancin' like a goon
| seedofnothing Here's a new song I just finished. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks. This one is melodic blackened DMhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8F2djB-Wis
| Tyrannic thanks, just finished book 2 myself (omfg the dollhouse is amazing). like what page? idk maybe it didn't show up or something i can't see it?
| Tyrannic i know a couple: the guy is a huge pendulum (etc.) nut and a dj, and the girl is potentially open to fetish stuff. i mentioned what you do to them, and if they wanted to show up where would they go and when?
| Beachcoma Oh okay thanks. How's Detroit Diesal btw?
| Beachcoma Can you rec me some harsh EBM stuff, and/or Futurepop? I need more and I already have mind.in.a.box, Rotersand, and Assemblage 23
| Pharoh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_5IqMQEL04
| bloc I have a feeling they might be an active group. Not sure why, but just by looking at who's in it it seems to be members from "retired" industrial acts, ya know?
| bloc Damn man! Not bad at all!
| theashesfromautumn01 oh sweet i think ive heard of it and seen some stuff. i remember thinking it was really sweet.
| theashesfromautumn01 just downloaded the Curses album and so far its pretty great. Got any other similar bands?
| bloc Did you post a link by any chance? Your message got cut off.
| bloc Haha, if there's ANYTHING worth listening to I would let you know : )
| bloc Oh sweet, new Panic Lift. Speaking of upcomers, there's also a new A23 album on the way.
| bloc Funny you mention that man, the last one I listened to was probably Revelations! But I've been hardly motivated to listen to the genre actually. Also, I don't think there's been anything worth listening to this year so far.
| twlight Dub Life off of his first album is a good track to purchase. His new stuff sounds pretty good, its some really ****ing heavy stuff
| twlight Nah man i had no idea DAL had released new material, gonna go listen to it now. Thanks for letting me know man!
| Ovrot Thee Maldoror Kollective
| pizzamachine Speaking about checking out things, have you tried FACT yet?
| BallsToTheWall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4hMPRdz8fIthe albums are less extreme and operatic but that doesn't detract from the quality. Vibeke has one of the finest voices.
| DarthMann yeh listen to bliss, hyper music and citizen erased
| DarthMann dude you gotta check out origin of symmetry
| bloc Haha, not even close. My birthday is at the end of August! Either way, this is a great gift : )
| bloc DOOOOOOOOOOD! Early birthday gift?
| Hawks Cool to see you're digging on Cradle. Nice to know someone else other than me, Spirit, and Ty enjoy them.
| Geist Sensible. I just love whatever he puts out, so I had to get the soundtrack the minute it hit. Call me a bad consumer.
| insomniac15 yeah, Reason is good, I haven't managed to do a lot in it, but it has a wide range of synths and pads and etc. Have you ever tried Absynth ? I've been playing around in it for a while and it has some cool sounds, everything from nice ambient stuff to odd sounds
| Geist Heya, just wanted to let you know that I really dig the tracks you've got up so far for your industrial project. If you ever need a bassline, I'd more than happily record one. What did you think of Reznor's latest soundtrack, speaking of which?
| bloc Bless you Cant! Happy holidays!
| pizzamachine Oh sweet! I liked the first Black Snow album haha!
| bloc Yep, never heard anything quite like it.
| bloc Glad you liked it, my man. Didn't even think of writing anything at first but thought of a blurb that needed to be said!
| Gnocchi I think you would get a kick out of Exit Ten
| Blindsided Yeah idk. Well it just means we'll keep going.
| Blindsided Yeah it's weird because the two warnings I've had were actual complaints which I thought would just get the site killed instead of the individual post.
| Blindsided I think we've had, with this one, now 3 scares from copyright/piracy s*** but it hasn't gotten taken down yet.
| Blindsided Am I looking at a different blog? I still see it's up. No new posts but the blog is still alive.
| pizzamachine That's 'cause you have the right opinion, sweet man!
| pizzamachine dood they're different colors but I see what you're saying. :) btw did you ever check out more Nightwish albums?
| bloc Sounds like it's going to be a good album, no? Will make up for some of the disappointments of the year (I hope).
| Blindsided your soundoff made AP's blog http://allbeautydestroyed.blogspot.com/
| bloc Agreed. I'd say anyone really into his first album (like me) is going to find this really surprising.
| bloc Gah, of course of course. Glad you feel the same way and nice work on the soundoff.
| Haz Wax Trax! was an incredible label. I would suggest plumbing the depths of those artist discographies, it's always a fruitful search.
| bloc Awesome! Thanks for letting me know sir, I will keep my eye open for your post.
| Haz http://firstwaveindustrial.blogspot.com/2011/10/compilations.html get the Pure Devotion, Black Box and Industrial Virus compilations on here
| Vesper So no ideas either, huh? Haha, it's okay. He just likes bands that sound very unique/weird more than anything. If you go through his iPod, it's bands like Diablo Swing Orchestra, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Unexpect... and indie rock. Lol.
| Vesper Thanks, I'll let him know! And, yeah, I don't think there are bands that sound quite like Angelspit - he was looking for "industrial/rock with silly indulgently dark/sexual lyrics and an attitude that's cutesy, aggressive, and I-don't-give-a-**** all at once", so I don't know if you know anything like that, which doesn't necessarily sound like Angelspit. He's also hugely in love with The Birthday Massacre, so there's that, haha.
