| OST Hey I noticed waaaaay back in 2012 you liked Conor's review of my first album well the next OST album is about to be released (https://originalsoundtrack.bandcamp.com/) and you can check out the new music video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODPwwHPwIvYSorry to be a spammy whore.Best,Shane
| OST Hey there, so sorry to bother you I just noticed you liked my last album (Invisible Ink For Sketching Ghosts by OST) so I wanted to send this your way - http://igg.me/at/OST2/x/6498610Best, Shane.
| mindhelix Heh, hope I didn't offend you any with them.
| North0House2 Ah yeah, no problem! I saw it wasn't on the database yet so I figured I might as well. Anther's a pretty great album for these summer nights, I've found.
| DaveyBoy Yeah, knew about the various Parades projects, but hadnt been keeping track of all of them, so thanks for those links. Who the hell is Kat Vinter. That song was pretty damn good. Real potential there, kind of in the vain of Jessie Ware.
| Thanntos hey dude, just posted my top 50 of '12 on here, check it out! I need to keep updating my blog too :(
| clercqie Yep, you did ;] Oh, that's too bad. They seem a fun live/festival band.
| clercqie Really nice: I found 120 Days II for free yesterday. Totally jamming it loudly, at the moment :D
| clercqie I'll listen to it, as soon as Paul Banks ends here. 2 songs left :p
| clercqie Wow, thanks for the trouble man. If I can return the favor sometimes, let me know :]
| clercqie Hey man, you happen to have a link for that Jogger lp? Can't seem to find it immedeately... It sounds intruiging though :]
| clercqie Certainly do, Dummy is probably the second best Trip-Hop album ever ;)
| clercqie I'd pinpoint Portishead as a better comparison actually. But yeah, I really liked it. It's a very decent debut EP.
| clercqie I think the comparison is a bit far-fetched, but I can see why you'd make it. Very cool stuff nontheless, thanks for the rec! :)
| AliW1993 Meh, forever the pessimist. Thanks man!
| Xenophanes Much appreciated, fellow biology user ; ]
| balcaen He only released Pyramids through ELHR, the rest are on his bandcamp for Name Your Price. http://sleepin.bandcamp.com/album/twins
| AliW1993 Thanks man, not getting my hopes up though.
| Deviant. Why would I want to hear the sampler when I already have the whole thing ;) And no I probably won't review it, only because it would simply be the longest review in the world, plus I'm just not a fan of reviewing compilation products
| Xenophanes "What are..." I sense an unfinished question ;)I was going to ask what are your interests. Are you looking to go into Biology? Because around here you only go into Biology if you want to be a doctor/vet/dentist
| Xenophanes Not too much into insects really, althought I really do like spiders quite a bit. My real interest lay in canine behavior, like coyote migration and stuff. Very interesting. And yeah oddly enough I know what an otolith is. I did a research project a while back in a fish range (it's a part of my campus' museum) and I am also currently taking "Biology of Fishes." Pretty cool stuff, it's like an actual rock in their heads that you can count the rings on to find their age, like a tree. What are
| Xenophanes That's actually pretty awesome. Yeah I'm a future biologist as well, zoology to be exact. My research deals with wolf spiders, so the entomology angle pleases me greatly.
| Xenophanes Oh I see now. I googled the link actually haha. I cannot wait, I loved that record, and with such brilliant members I'm sure the three years maturing are going to make this one immense. Thanks for the heads up, man.
| Xenophanes Hm...whatever that link is, it isn't working for me : [[
| Xenophanes I'm diggin it. I mean, it's your typical Enemies list release, so it's low-fi off kilter stuff that I really dig. Yeah I'll try and add a photo.
| Thanntos Thanks man, appreciate it a lot
| clercqie I've shared dl links before, so they aren't blocked or anything. All I know is that I didn't receive one... Well, most people here think Sound Of Silver is LCD's best, and it's a very good album for sure. But I like the debut better, actually. It has way more groove than the follow-ups. Either way, you can't really go wrong with any of the albums. Also, be sure to check out their 45:33 compilation, it's really cool.
| clercqie It's cool you have so much space and nature there though, 'cause here everything is crammed altogether. Flanders is one of the places with the highest population density in the world if I can recall correctly, which sometimes gets on my nervers. Oh, btw really liked the track you linked. It has a big LCD Soundsystem feel to it, and I'm a big fan of that band. Will try to find the whole album.
| clercqie Damn, so close! Nice, I've been to Stockholm last year and I loved it. Really cool people everywhere and it's one of the few cities I could see myself living in. Yeah, I'm from dreary Belgium. :)
| clercqie It sounds pretty cool, thanks for the tip! Are you from Norway, Felix?
| clercqie Haha, deal :) What genre/style are we talking about? and do you happen to have a link for me?
| Sowing It's never too early! Contribute away, man.
| conradtao Weirdly enough, it feels great to be pirated!
| Yotimi I think I like the other version (the 6 minute non-reprise) a little more, but yeah great song
| Sowing sowingsputnik@gmail.com
| Sowing Thanks man, I always appreciate the help. I'm very lenient with the format...I'd aim for 5-10 sentences describing the song or persuading the reader to listen. Really anything you want to say about the song is fine by me...obviously the sooner I can get it the better, but there's no rush. I am going to create an email account just for this later today, so I'll provide you with that as soon as I make it
| balcaen ASIWYFA's first LP was good, but i thought it sounded a lot like all the post-rock that was peaking that year. gangs was a BIG surprise. so much fun.
| Steoandnoodles Really classy baroque sound. =) They are cool. Let's hope their popularity expands.
| Irving Eh whaaaaaa...how did you know all that?!
| Xenophanes Thanks man! I'll try and make you proud!
| Sowing yeah they told me i have to add at least my first name haha. thanks for the congrats!
| chambered89 been listening for a week straight and i still can't quite get my head around viscera, either way it's a fantastic album and thanks for the rec man
| balcaen my heritage is a bit of a euro-mix but belgian-canadian is the most accurate, and i didn't speak english 'til i was about 9 (i'm currently 19), so i still don't understand a lot of english idioms and frequently think in french. but yeah, i recently won my university's essay competition, so no, my written english is better than most native english speakers. there's just a line where i suck at expressions, language nuances, pronunciation, etc.
| Yotimi The Busride's pretty cool, thanks man. Couldn't find that other one but I'll make sure to sample on bandcamp sometime soon
| balcaen yeah, TND himself sent me a message and told me he was flattering by my impersonation and was glad to breathe some life into my channel, so i'm pretty confident i'm not treading on any ground there :)
| balcaen thanks man. definitely embracing it despite about 1/3 of my views being H8, lol
| balcaen the amount of people randomly finding my channel is weird. i started like 4 days ago, and have only posted it on twitter. thanks though. tried my best. not quite sure what i'm doing yet.
| North0House2 Lol that's awesome man. No problem. Sorne's up there for my albums of the year, simply because it's so unique, and Jakob is such a good band.
| Blindsided I will get that album and yes she's ****ing gorgeous.
| Blindsided First off yes I do hop the hip and that song was legit.Mostly I listen to indie/underground hip hop similar to that so if you want some rec's I can provide them in vein of that, otherwise if you want a wiser opinion ask Inveigh because he is obv the master of hip hop.
| SeaAnemone i did see that! i had actually meant to say thanks for the nice comment there! things like that are the reason i review :)
| Deviant. No probs. Awhile back when he all voted on what the next upgrade to the site was going to be, a more thorough and substantial genre listing lost out to the staff blog, so it'll probably happen eventually
| Deviant. No you can't unfortunately, we're just stuck with what's there. Kinda sucks but at least it stops users from creating retarded genre tags and putting them on the wrong artists. Just list your ambient artist as electronica
| Yotimi Really liked that Son Lux album, especially Let Go. Some great production considering the short time it took to make it
| Yotimi thanks man, i'll be sure to check those out. I liked Son Lux's last album - didn't realize there's a new one
| Blindsided I'm familiar with it, just not as much as I'd like to be but I'll probably get to listening to it this weekend. Ah you should check out Mischief Brew - The Stone Operation, great folk/punk with a touch of hardcore at points, I MIGHT review it this weekend, we'll see once.
| Blindsided You should check out Black Country Communion, you'd probably dig them since you like Graveyard.
| Blindsided That would be awesome, I've heard Amoeba is a great store to go to. So yeah that Graveyard album was cool, I'll have to check out their first one too.
| Blindsided Dude I went to SF in 09 and it was awesome. Minnesota is so stupid - it's -30 in the winter and 100 in the summer, it's a paradox of temperature changing bulls***. I plan on traveling to Europe, probably for my honeymoon but idk if that'll be just to Ireland or if we'll get to go other places. It's like close to 90 today, leather in my car burns my skin almost.
| Blindsided That's why I want to come to Sweden. I live in Minnesota you see, it's horribly cold here. While it might be cold there too, at least you have some culture and substance there.
| Blindsided THERE'S A TV SERIES?!?!?!? I'm on the third book and I find them exceptionally enjoyable, even if everyone on Sputnik would reem me for thinking so. Reading them makes me want to visit Sweden.
| Blindsided Ohhhhh Sarah my darling, how I love that show. She would def be in my top 10. I have a question however, being your a Swede have you read the books you're country is famous for? By that I mean Stieg Larsson.
| Blindsided Yeah between her and Scarlett Johansson they switch number one's.
| Voivod gonna check it out soon, i guess.
| Voivod Yeah you are right. I'm aware of this OST, but due to uknown reasons i haven't listened to it yet.
| Blindsided Do you happen to know which of the two singers it is that sounds like Plant?
| Blindsided Thanks. I jotted down some stuff for the intro with a comparison to Led and The Doors. Also I want to come to Sweden after reading the millennium trilogy.
| Blindsided I need help. Who does the lead singer for Graveyard sound like? The whiny lead singer I mean, he sounds like someone familiar from another blues/psych band.
| Blindsided It's called Beholder Media, it's a local e-zine out of Minnesota and I'm the "managing editor" for the site. pizzamachine and WhiteWalls write for it and it's a pretty decent site, albeit named after Metallica :S
| Blindsided After listening to that Graveyard album it's going up, I'm probably going to review it actually for the other site I review primarily for. The editor wanted me to do Gold Cobra so I was like how about the new Graveyard instead..
| Blindsided I want to listen to it right now but I'm at work and this is such a headphones album. Also I'm surprised you liked that Graveyard album that much, I thought it was like a 3.
| Blindsided I had to pay $9 for shipping and I'm in the US. I thought that was pretty ridiculous. Either way the whole album is awesome, did you see my soundoff?
| Blindsided I just ordered the book/cd last night so hopefully when I get it, it'll get that much better. I'd like to review it here but I'm really no good with the artistic, lengthy hipster reviews and if I did it would be nothing but my normal straightforward "what the **** this is" kinda review.
| Blindsided Last 2 minutes of No One is Ever Going To Want Me
| SeaAnemone honestly I don't dislike it and could see myself coming around to it-- the soundoff was just me being idunno. but yeah thanks for those links! I follow Heavy Boots Music already but hadn't read through that yet. I will now, and hopefully will be able to enjoy Giles Corey more!
| LiquidVelvet It's INCREDIBLE. The album really isn't the same without it, at all. I couldn't rec a purchase more.
| Athom glad you like it. i played a show with those dudes last night. mother****ers give dillinger and the chariot a run for their money as most balls out violent show ever
| Scoot Good stuff mate, cheers.
| AtavanHalen Yeah, I love GROUPLOVE. Awesome EP. Will deffs check out Mixtapes.
| Yotimi It was okay and definitely had its moments. The vocals kind of ruined for me at times and I wasn't completely absorbed in the sound they were going for. But I'll defitely give it some time.
| Yotimi really liked that Jogger album. Good rec man.
| Steoandnoodles I think he is but it's out in Cork I think. =/ I'm in Dublin. I'm going to listen to a handful of tracks but not the whole thing. =)
| Steoandnoodles I'm pumped to hear it but I'm going to wait for release day and listen to it on CD.
| Steoandnoodles It's still amazing but their second album has the production on its side.
| Steoandnoodles I switched and gave Deadmalls the 5 instead. It's just that tiny bit better. =)
| Steoandnoodles Yeah, it's incredible. It's a shame more people haven't heard of it.
| Steoandnoodles I love Sam Amidon's work. I've heard most of the songs he has covered before. (A handful of them are Dock Boggs songs) and to hear them evolved like that was pretty insane for me. =)
| Steoandnoodles Wish I listened to these guys sooner. They're the real deal. =)
| Steoandnoodles Deadmalls and NightFalls. For some reason the and character doesn't work. =P
| Steoandnoodles At one point I had the Orion Song Book on my list to listen to but I never got around to it. =/I probably should.
| sniper Sure man check out some Archives, Mesa Verde, The Fall of Boss Koala, Grown Ups, Daitro, Suis La Lune, Pianos Become the Teeth, and definitely some Orchid, particularly Gatefold. if you wan any more just hit up my shoutbox again theres certainly more where that came from. that stuff is mostly emo-y screamo or post-rocky screamo, except Orchid, who are just a classic band that everyone should know. hope you enjoy
| Scoot i had to add it to the database lol
| Curse. The only other Podcasts I listen to are the Paul F. Tompkast and Bill Burr MMP. I would listen to NNF if I didn't have to pay
| Curse. haha I LOVE Doug Loves Movies
| AgentYorkMorgan I pretty much knew it was going to be sappy somewhere (it is acoustic), but maybe I'm just a fanboy. :P
| AgentYorkMorgan Wow, I'm about 5 hours in and I've yet to see a boss. But the story is one of those things that's surprising in how damned good and thought out it is (don't spoil anything for me). And I was actually impressed with the acoustic part, it was better then what I imagined it to be.
| AgentYorkMorgan Was absolutely blown away on first listen, might go down, might stay at a 5. And I might just look that up, I still haven't beaten the game, it moves a tad too slow for my taste but I'm inspired to clear a level or two now.
| AgentYorkMorgan I can only imagine their reaction for the first couple hours of gameplay
| Idnuf Well Starship Amazing is a band. I was basically saying if you aren't interested in the guys then it wouldn't be that great. Only other thing is Hardcore History by Dan Carlin, and that's obviously not about music. I find that most podcasts are really boring to me. I'll check out UYD though. How about you?
| Idnuf It's called Podcast Amazing, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't already a fan of Starship Amazing. The two guys from SA host it and I don't think it would be that entertaining for any random person.
| Idnuf I actually found out about them through a podcast myself :)
| Idnuf Damn it, I wanted to be all badass and triumphantly proclaim whatever that means. A google search gives me "Uhh Yeah Dude" but I doubt that's what you mean. What is UYD?
| Idnuf It's crazy how whenever I add an album someone rates it almost immediately. I added TGP either the day you rated it or one day before.
| robin song is surprisingly enjoyable though!
| robin thanks. :) that video was weird, haha.
| Aids post rock goodness, yummy!
| Aids yah so far I'm 0 for 2 with that soundoff. I'll probably come around to the artwork eventually. I've only heard The Felix Culpa's most recent LP, what should I check out next in your opinion?
| Aids no. nobody on this site has ever made a joke about my username. cool username, I just got into those guys.
| Deathcar Glad to hear you like it, i'll check those guys out.
| robin it's quite fab. the 33 minute track is what brings it down from a 4 for me.
| Kiran cant listen, the myspace player isnt working for me :( do you listen to jonathan johansson? 'en hand i himlen' is a great electronic/pop album
| eternium Sounds like it. You should get more into the metal scene there.
| eternium Eh, it's some pretty good punk rock.
| eternium I have those already. I loveee the Swedes man, especially Refused and the metal like Cult of Luna and Burst.
| eternium Oh, this will be fun. Going to enjoy comparing the download that I have already with the vinyl rip.
| SeaAnemone don't know what you have/haven't heard but here's a bunch-Grown Ups - SongsCity of Caterpillar - s/tOff Minor - Some BloodTen Grand - The Comprehensive ListEmpire! E! (I Was A Lonely Estate) - What It Takes To...Get Up Kids - 4 Min MiSuis La Lune - Heir EPKidcrash - Jokesenjoy! If you need more, look at my list entitled "Emo Bible"
| SeaAnemone that's a pretty wide variety, so do you mind if I just give you some of my personal favs that kinda match those... even if they don't sound incredibly similar?
| Kiran jag trodde at jag var den enda! :P
| Kiran i'll definitely check it out dude, thanks
| eternium Haha, I love it man. Part of the reason I got it is seeing pictures of Jacob Bannon wearing a shirt and seeing Deathwish talk about them.
| playswithpassion That's a pretty awesome coincidence though...I haven't found any awesome bands because of my name XD
| playswithpassion Seeing as your screen name is FelixCulpa I just wanna say that Sever Your Roots is like my favorite 2010 album for sure...soooo worth the wait.
| sniper cool thanks man. i liked the textures on the album a lot, you can tell they worked hard to make each section stand out in terms of recording/production.
| sniper Listened to Sever Your Roots, it was pretty cool, I could see it growing on me.
| sniper Ooh English majory. I'll check out.
| sniper Cool dude I'll check them out. I mean you're named after one of them.
| sniper Yeah I have Panopticon and its prty cool but post-metal bores me for the most part. If you feel up to it, check out Daitro's album Laisser Vivre whatever, my friends who like mostly post-hardcore tend to dig them.
| sniper What bands have you heard? I'd rec you go with like Envy, Funeral Diner, pg. 99, and maybe Gospel to start. Obviously you don't mind screaming in general so what was it that turned you off?
| sniper You should listen to some screamo.
| Lions really? that's interesting. i know about them because they're local heroes for the milwaukee/chicago folks.
| Lions hey! someone who knows who the felix culpa is! kick ass.
