    March 24 10:57 PM
  • ViperAces thanks man, all i found with this s***ty filefctory link which only allows me to download at 50kbps rate =)
    March 21 08:40 PM
  • greg84 Tbh, I'm not that fond of stoner rock as you may think. For example, only one stoner rock record made my top10 of last year. I just try to check out as many new releases that I may enjoy as possible, and many stoner rock records tend to be derivative, but I usually choose not to write about them. As for rating stuff, it's obvious that any record may wear off after some time, but I prefer not to overthink it. I'm just subjective, and truly don't care what others on the site may think.
    March 10 10:24 PM
  • kingsoby1 that's pretty ridiculous. i'll have to check out that record - thanks.

    January 23 09:46 PM
  • Wizard And nice choice for that Sodom album, ****ing underrated. Agent Orange my ass.
    December 26 04:34 PM
  • Wizard Nothing this year, just alot of great doom/ bm that really held my interest in metal. If you want a rec that more people need to hear, go listen to Wizard Rifle's "Speak Loud Say Nothing". I can't get enough of it. Read my summary of the album.
    December 26 04:33 PM
  • GrandpaStanley I just need a clarification. You aren't associated with GrandpaSeth right? Or do you work in some sort of faction?

  • Crysis I have the promo link but have yet to check it out because I am on vacation in Bermuda all this week. Will let you know.
    May 29 05:09 PM
  • Willie To me, it's just a refined version of the previous album with a better production. So, I'd probably rate it the same as the last one - 3 or 3.5
    May 7 11:54 AM
  • Jethro42 Back in the day (late 70s) I did listen to nothing but classic albums for the simple reason that everything was coming from my friends big brothers recommendations. The cheese only came after with the advent of the comp and the endless quantity of other proggers I found out there
    May 2 09:29 PM
  • MO yea def who cares, just thought sweet new user putting it to base...wait wtf
    May 1 05:04 PM
  • MO whoa what happened to your comment count
    May 1 04:59 PM
  • StrangerofSorts Froese is top stuff. Grabbed Epsilon in Malaysian Pale and it's great, cheers.
    April 9 08:02 PM
  • Athom It was the first kind of music I completely immersed myself in. I had liked punk and alt rock and some metal since I was a little kid and was raised on classic rock, but post-hardcore was the first kind of music that ever inspired me to do something and get involved with music. There's a lot of s*** out there, but a lot of good too just like any genre.

    February 23 05:40 AM
  • BigHans I still havent gotten around to it yet. just the single, which is pretty damn good
    February 17 08:48 PM
  • Crysis In terms of how much I compare the two styles? I'd by lying if I said what he's done in the past doesn't act as a point of reference for where he is now. I realize his style has changed and he is almost 20 years older, but I still find myself saying "Wow he went from Hvis and Filosofem to THIS?". I try to take it all in perspective, though, and note that his style has changed and will never be the same. I still like new Burzum, just not nearly as much as old Burzum.
    January 22 05:43 PM
  • Voivod i had Sacrifice on my hard drive for a while, thanx for making me listen to this after so long. Hey I have a treat for you, check out the first Slammer album, "The work of idle hands...", equally awesome stuff.
    December 26 08:21 PM
  • Voivod you are so right, listening to it right now. I worship Kreator and Slayer, i don't like Destruction so much.
    December 26 08:12 PM
  • fireaboveicebelow Slowly but surely yes. Doing almost all of it by myself this time.
    December 19 01:39 PM
  • liledman im not sure what you have heard outside of your ratings, so these are basically gateway albums/works. jazz: miles davis - kind of blue; charles mingus - black saint and the sinner lady; john coltrane - a love supreme; herbie hancock - empyrean isles; freddie hubbard - straight life; sarah vaughan - sarah vaughan. classical: beethoven - symphony no 5; igor stravinsky - rite of spring; johannes brahms - symphony no 2; johann sebastian bach - goldberg variations; wolfgang amadeus mozart - requiem

  • ZombieParty \m/
    November 1 05:15 AM
  • Wizard Hahahaha I don't ever plan on it. It's simply a tag that gains you social status. I would rather people respect me (and vice-versa with myself towards others) for my music taste and not because I can run the show.
    October 31 10:48 PM
  • Metalstyles That song sounded really cool, I'll anxiously be waiting for a good quality rip of it, and the whole album for that matter. Thanks for the link man!
    October 28 07:26 PM
  • SowingSeason oh, ok...i saw a couple posts now where you denounced him and i was just wondering why, that's all :)
    October 28 07:13 PM
  • SowingSeason why do you hate chan so much?
    October 28 06:51 PM
  • cvlts i was surprised and pleased myself. thanks man, appreciate it
    October 28 06:00 PM
  • Crysis Thanks man, appreciate it! Yeah, I'm pretty happy to say the least :D
    October 28 05:41 PM
  • Crysis Thanks, will listen when I'm out of work
    October 28 12:54 PM
  • Crysis Wasn't aware that they released a new song, gotta go hear it.
    October 28 12:28 PM
  • Axel I'm not sure man. I hope I can figure that out.
    October 28 11:49 AM
  • Crysis I appreciate the kind words and the feedback you give me on my writing, though.
    October 28 11:46 AM
  • Crysis what the **** didn't even know they handed out promotions haha very, very happy angel got contrib though. As you've probably noticed they don't promote people who listen to just metal to staff, only people who listen to just indie or a mix of indie and other s***. I'm not too concerned about it though.
    October 28 11:18 AM
  • Deviant. Thanks man, appreciate it :)

    September 30 03:36 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Ahh, I see. Well, keep your head up, s*** will turn out.
    September 29 03:08 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Haven't seen a review from you in a while. What's up?
    September 29 01:23 AM
  • Willie I don't know what you're talking about, so I guess I'll be alright.
    September 19 11:52 PM
  • mexicanjumpingbeans dude why are you such an asshole
    September 12 11:09 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Dang, I guess I haven't been keeping up with my Starkweather news.
    September 12 12:22 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Did you know there is a new Starkweather split?
    September 12 12:01 PM
  • Jethro42 I offered you my apologize on the Angel's thread. Have a nice week end!
    September 9 05:31 PM
  • Jethro42 Aight. I am really sorry for all that mess. If I'm that prompt though, when I see ''language'' and Jethro on the same line, it's that in the past, my English was rather poor and some users made fun with it. Since then, it looks like I have a trauma lol. Rock and Roll man. See ya!
    September 9 05:12 PM
  • Jethro42 Not much, not anymore. I've tried out really hard to like indie music a while back, and I practically reject the whole thing. Same for post hardcore; these words alone make me sick. If I'm posting into the Angel's thread, it's only 'cause I noticed a 4.5/5 review by Angel and it intrigued me. And also I JUST realized...that by ''indie language'' you meant indie knowledge rather than an accent in my English haha. So yes I'm not a reference for that ''genre''. Try 'Built to Spill' Id say.
    September 9 04:59 PM
  • Jethro42 A reflex I guess. I took it like if you couldnt stand my English speaking. Sure you didn't know about my English level or nothing. But I've taken it as an offense. Sh** happens. Sorry if it's not. It's all fine, sir.
    September 9 04:39 PM
  • AngelofDeath Not a problem, man.

    September 6 10:36 PM
  • BigHans I haven't. I heard one of the singles and it was actually decent.
    September 6 02:12 PM
  • AngelofDeath Aakon Keetreh - Dans la Foret, Wongraven - Fjelltronen, Vond - Selvmord, Robert Rich and Lustmord - Stalker, Archon Satani - Mind of Flesh and Bones, Merzbow and Richard Pinhas - Rhizome
    September 4 11:26 PM
  • BallsToTheWall Only heard Funeral but it's great.
    September 4 10:43 PM
  • Liberi Fatali Check out Rhian Sheehan, Paul Schutze - Regard: Music by Film, Northaunt, Pete Namlook, Klaus Schulze, Bill Laswell. Plenty to check out, and awesome no matter which one you check out first.
    September 4 02:04 PM
  • AngelofDeath Never heard of Blood Box, but it looks like something I should probably check out. I have a pretty comprehensive list of dark ambient and industrial I did a while back. Not sure if you saw that or not. If so, there's still some stuff I've heard since then I can put you onto.
    September 3 11:08 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Awesome, it's so good. Now that you mention it, I think you did rec it to me. AbyssalCreation just brought it up again in a Mis Sigs thread and I finally remembered to download it.
    September 3 03:26 PM
  • Crysis New Arghoslent's gonna be pretty sweet and yeah I've become really cynical but that's mostly because there are hardly any cool users left and all I really have to say is sarcastic or negative... I dunno just an effect of the change in community and the change in users I used to be chill with
    September 2 10:52 PM
  • Crysis Song was decent.... clean vocals annoyed me. Hoping the entire album doesn't follow in the same path as the two songs that have been released.
    September 2 09:36 PM
  • Crysis No I haven't... listening now on youtube. And nah you're cool with me, why do you ask?
    September 2 09:33 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Yeah, it's about $234 for me to fly out there. So almost 1/3 the cost. Have you ever listened to Compromise? Jesse Zaraska from 7A7P and Misery Signals old band. Great stuff with a tragic story.
    September 2 03:52 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Well that's promising. Have you looked at all to see how much it would cost to come here?
    September 1 09:26 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Hahaha, nah. You should totally come though. It's going to be epic! Integrity rarely tours and who knows how much longer Starkweather will be around.
    September 1 07:43 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Dude, I get to see Integrity and Starkweather. I have to drive almost 20 hours to get there though. Already got my tickets: http://lambgoat.com/news/view.aspx?id=16755
    September 1 06:33 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Thanks.
    August 30 12:09 AM
  • accompliceofmydeath What are some good thrash albums to get started with? All I have are Slayer and Metallica. The new TITD is alright, but definitely not recommended as a starting point. Supernova is my favorite and In the Eyes of God is great, too.
    August 29 11:39 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Got it, thanks. I'll let you know what I think. Have you heard the new Today is the Day?
    August 29 11:30 PM
  • Crysis It also varies even within those regions. For example, the New York scene's flagships are Incantation, Immolation and Suffocation, all of which have a unique sound.
    August 17 10:55 PM
  • Crysis Depends on which part of America you're talking about ;)
    August 17 10:53 PM
  • Crysis Probably knowing the genre is the biggest help, there are many, many different sub-genres and scenes in death metal that it helps to know where the album you are reviewing sits and how it fares alongside its contemporaries or how it may bring in traits from another scene. That and being able to describe the music well and pick up nuances in a genre which can keep seem repetitive always helps.
    August 17 10:29 PM
  • AtavanHalen Seriously, I'm still trying to figure out who you are after your little vent on my review. Did you used to be someone else? Did I say something bad about a review of yours one time?

    July 23 04:03 PM
  • BallsToTheWall I am unaware but kudo to enjoying Dispirit.
    July 15 07:36 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Sweet, now they just need John Stanier back on drums.
    July 11 03:13 PM
  • SeaAnemone sorry dude I appreciate you asking haha but I don't know very much metalcore at all... only thing I would recommend is not skipping ovre English metalcore band Throats... they're a favorite of mine, not sure if you've heard em or not
    July 10 03:42 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Damn, dude; that's a massive undertaking! I'll be the most help with the Minnesota scene, but let me know if/when you need help with the others.
    July 10 04:04 AM
  • 2muchket! For You. Earth are good too, sweet metalcore ala dillinger escape plan
    July 8 10:54 PM
  • 2muchket! No decent metalcore has come for ages dude, especially from phili hahaha. Have you checked out Oathbreaker though ? Good Belgian band.
    July 8 10:52 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Sweet. I haven't listened to All Else Failed. I'll have to d/l some of their stuff. What other regions do you plan on doing?
    July 8 05:29 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath The Minor Times were a good one from Philly.
    July 8 04:14 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath My bad, they're from Eerie, which is in Pennsylvania. I'll keep looking.
    July 8 04:11 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Damn, this is awesome. It's just so evil sounding. As for Philly metalcore, let me check and get back to you. I think Brother's Keeper was from there, not that they're anything special.
    July 8 04:10 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Have you heard of Ancient VVisdom? It's got a couple guys from Integrity and sounds like it'd be sweet, but I can't find a link. Let me know if you find something, k?

    June 21 06:51 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Oh, cool. That should be really interesting. I hope you're doing something on the Bremen scene. I've been meaning to get into that.
    June 21 03:52 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath How is the metalcore Bible comin'?
    June 20 04:49 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath How many albums is this Bible going to include? Is it going to be like Eric's Emo Bible? I can just email you a list of what I think are the most important albums. Also, Harvest is indeed releasing new material. A new 7" is due out early August.
    June 14 11:39 AM
  • accompliceofmydeath Just saw your Harvest comment. They are, in fact, reuniting. Apparently they're going to tour and write new material. Pretty stoked to see them play their comeback show with Disembodied.
    May 31 12:31 AM
  • Crysis The album is Possessed's 1984 demo called "Death Metal"
    May 29 06:35 PM
  • Zettel It is done. Hope it helps somehow.
    May 25 02:34 AM
  • accompliceofmydeath I thought I'd finish it before I left for work on Friday, but I didn't. I'll work on it during lunch today and hopefully get it done.
    May 24 05:09 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Nevermind, I found it in an old wall post.
    May 20 07:31 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath I was wondering if you would be willing to take a look at a review I'm writing up. Can I have your email address?
    May 20 07:09 PM
  • cvlts well yeah, Defeater was technically a bust but stuff like new PT, WN, Departures, new stuff like Donkey Punch, KEN Mode, Little Sister, MNMNTS, Manners, Old Wounds, Until Your Heart Stops... plus all the stuff at the end of the year. iono, im not entirely jaded anymore
    May 7 11:15 PM
  • cvlts dude its been crazy this year
    May 6 09:13 PM
  • eternium Sounds pretty interesting. I'll get around to it fer sure.
    April 23 09:17 PM
  • eternium I'm not even sure what Bremen means.
    April 23 09:00 PM
  • Crysis No I haven't. The only metalcore I've been really listening to over the past several months has been political metalcore a la Morning Again, Point Of No Return, Day Of Suffering, early Heaven Shall Burn, etc.
    April 23 07:54 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath v lol, Hep cracks me up
    April 15 06:12 PM
  • Hep Kat energy, vocals and breakdownz
    April 15 12:34 PM
  • Crysis Nope I haven't. The band haven'td their website since 2009. Would be cool to see something new from them, though.
    April 13 10:17 PM
  • Irving Hahaha, if it is, then I'm probably the world's worst artist. A sentiment I am already quite familiar with lol.
    April 13 08:35 PM
  • Emim You best bump Breaking Romulus to a 5 before something bad happens to you.
    April 4 11:07 PM
  • Wizard That album is sitting on my computer and now you've inspired me to check it out!
    April 4 01:26 AM
  • fr33convict why on earth would you give breaking romulus a 2?
    April 4 12:14 AM
  • cvlts one of their eps is sitting in my library, i dont really remember what they sound like though ahaha
    April 3 09:51 PM
  • SeaAnemone that's a huge, illogical, and paranoid assumption you're making. lol i remember you having this issue before with distrusting users because it says "staff" or "contrib" under their name... you realize that staff and contrib are no different than regular users except they've written more reviews and stuff, right? Also, people generally like my reviews and I still get negged like every other one. they mean nothing (unless there's lots, i guess), but if you DO take issue with them ask willie
    March 28 08:24 PM
  • Willie He said it was an accident. It should be changed shortly.
    March 28 08:13 PM
  • Willie I contacted him to see if it was an accident or if he'll at least provide feedback. That's the best I can do for you.
    March 28 07:50 PM
  • plane Willie is a mod that can check these kinds of things. He is your ally.
    March 28 07:47 PM
  • Willie Ha ha. I can't tell if you're being serious or not. I didn't do it.
    March 28 07:43 PM
  • plane Don't worry about the negs. The ratio is key, if anything. 4 out of 5 is still grand. Good constructive criticism will come from those that find legitimate reasons to neg, and they will tell you. Trust me.
    March 28 07:37 PM
  • Willie Not a troll neg. It was actually a very well-known and liked user -- weird. Maybe it was an accident?
    March 28 07:13 PM
  • SeaAnemone and on top of that, how did you come off accusing lewis as a "suspect" as well lol? that's absurd
    March 28 06:21 PM
  • SeaAnemone wait. so why;d you accuse me, again?
    March 28 06:13 PM
  • gaslightanthem pretty sure it's not an album cover at all. think it's just from some picture shoot
    March 26 01:53 PM
  • sonictheplumber thanks man
    March 11 07:32 PM
  • Observer No i have not, but I did a search and I am in the looking for some more drone. You rec?
    March 9 10:57 AM
  • Hep Kat i know i have a self titled one. idk though these bands are on one of my other hd's
    March 9 12:50 AM
  • cvlts really dont know, bro. try asking Hep, he knows a sh*t ton more about 90s hardcore bands than I do.
    March 9 12:41 AM
  • Hep Kat i just know i have two ricochets in my library. one is a russian band and one is the one youre talking about
    March 9 12:36 AM
  • Crysis For quite a while I was torn between whether I liked Hvis or Filosofem more. Det Som is a fantastic album as well, Key to the Gate is one of his best songs.
    March 7 02:15 AM
  • Crysis .....and repeated ambient moments, and I enjoy Varg's vocals (although, admittedly, they are far from the best in genre and not even the best in his discography- the vocals on Filosofem are much better). It's just a combination of these factors that make it so great. Det Som Engang Var is one of the best bm songs ever.
    March 7 01:56 AM
  • Crysis Haha yeah saying that Hvis is repetitive and boring is a very common complaint. Burzum really isn't the best example of what I was talking about earlier (for something like that see bands like Paysage d'Hiver), but instead Burzum is based off of its innovation, atmosphere and sheer importance. That album single-handedly created the ambient black metal sub-genre, and it is one of the seminal black metal records. Those aside, I really love the way the album combines mid-paced riffing......
    March 7 01:54 AM
  • Crysis ...(nature, misanthropy, nihilism, the beauty of the natural world, hopelessness, sorrow, etc.) are strong emotions and feelings that I can relate to every single day. I feel that the intensity and abrasiveness of the music is simply the perfect way of displaying such things, and that makes the music so much more than just a collection of words and notes places together in an arrangement. It's really hard to explain and gets incredibly pretentious but that's the gist of it.
    March 7 01:03 AM
  • Crysis Tough question, and one that has many parts to its answer. It's not exactly the music alone (but I still do love the music itself) but instead a combination of musical and emotional viewpoints that really connect with my own personality and way of thinking. The raw emotion displayed but some bands (but not all, there are many black metal bands that are rather tongue-in-cheek) is something that really draws me, and the concepts behind the music....

    February 28 12:27 AM
  • dimsim3478 Wow! Your reviews are of a staff standard, as they discuss unique aspects of the albums and get the points across beautifully! You should really be upped to "Contributor" soon!
    February 26 08:03 AM
  • Zettel Thomas, I just wrote a review, and I could use your critical eye if you find something worth noting. Whenever you have the time, and thanks in advance.
    February 22 04:18 AM
  • Wizard Thanks for that DA rec, I love all their albums. I also respect your taste in metal/ hardcore quite a bit, you know what the heck your talking about. Also, I believe it was you who got me to check out older Integrity albums, love that band.
    February 21 12:06 AM
  • underdog22 i dug all those ofwgkta references in that list

  • EyesWideShut The dude in my avatar is Vincent Cassel from the film "La Haine". For the h/c recs I got 2 lists that are top notch. Also ive been diggin Hatred Surge's Deconstruct (got the lyrics if u need em)... rules hard.
    February 20 01:06 AM
  • Zettel It would be my pleasure, Thomas. Just let me know.
    February 16 02:49 AM
  • Relinquished well some of them are in the pv genre. if you know, then you know what im talkin about.
    February 14 08:53 PM
  • cvlts yeah dude. I think it's one of those 'oh, we're getting back together so we're makin a new album' things so there's the possibilty of it being cool but ya never know
    February 14 01:50 AM
  • Observer alright, cool. I did my best, though my word is not law. Hope that helped.
    February 12 02:12 AM
  • Willie As far as I know he isn't.
    February 11 11:30 PM
  • Observer That is good news, and I've heard some rumors about that, though they seem to keep putting it off. I need to give Blue another spin soon, come to think of it. It's been a while.
    February 8 07:28 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Alright, I have a bunch of crappy pop punk I want to get, but I know Amebix is pretty influential, so I'll get to it eventually.
    February 4 05:47 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath No, dude, that's a really good description. Sounds awesome. It's definitely going on my "Check it Out" list.
    February 3 09:55 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath And no, I haven't heard about the new Amebix album. I don't even have any old Amebix. Where do I start?
    February 3 09:53 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Earthmover is decent, but they're definitely not essential. Glad you liked that Bloodlet album, it's definitely great. I'm listening to it right now, in fact. I haven't been able to find any Harvest albums anywhere (and I live near and shop in Minneapolis!), so I downloaded, but I'll definitely but it if I can find it. I rarely download, but with some of this 90s stuff, it's just too hard to find. I look into that Catharsis album, as well. Who do they sound like?
    February 3 09:46 PM
  • Willie One thing: Don't use the words "Off of" use "from" -- the song is from the album blah blah blah...
    February 3 09:41 PM
  • Willie I can't tell you why your Ambex news might have beend (because I don't know), but there are a lot of reasons it could have happened. Make sure you read the news thread in the forums. The Cold news is still waiting for approval... I'll look at it and get back to you.
    February 3 09:40 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Did you ever check out Bloodlet or Earthmover? Another band to check out is Harvest. They were contemporaries with Disembodied in Minneapolis during the 90s and bring the same kind of mosh-heavy hardcore.
    February 3 09:24 PM
  • qwe3 no problem dude
    February 3 08:09 AM
  • Crysis It's pretty good, I like it better than Belus. He uses a fair bit of clean vocals which add a lot to the variance of the album, but the riffs are repetitive as expected. The bass is higher in the production as well. I can see a lot of people hating on how repetitive some of the riffing can be but I feel they are solid enough to carry a nine minute song. Give it a listen.
    January 30 07:24 PM
  • BallsToTheWall HAHA gonna having a backing cult to lean on, to add mystique and shroud my self in darkness.
    January 28 03:45 PM
  • Observer I think you're right on the insomnium, and as of now I have it dibbed. Others I'm looking forward to are Darkest Hour, William Fitzsimmons, Omnium Gatherum, Amon Amarth, Chevelle, Be'lakor, Primordial, Explosions in The Sky, Radiohead, Rise Against, Sigur Ros, and a few others I believe. I have a list somewhere..
    January 27 05:31 PM
  • Observer Buried Beneath is one of my favorites as well, and yeah the quality is certainly disapointing. I was expecting it to be one of the years tops for me :/
    January 27 02:58 PM
  • Observer There's def a difference in the quality of the songs, so I think so. I'm not sure how much he contributed to the songwriting in the past though
    January 27 12:09 AM
  • SeaAnemone not a problem, don't worry about sounding elite or whatever, I'm happy when people ask! Try these:Angel Hair- Pregnant With the Senior Class*Honeywell - Discography*Maximillian Colby - Disc.Heroin - Disc.I Hate Myself - 4 Songs*In First Person - Lost Between Hands Held TightNative Nod - Today Puberty, Tomorrow The World*Ten Grand - The Comprehensive List...*Sailboats - Demo (this has the best screamo song ever on it, "Behind Trees")these are all cool, the starred are personal fav.s
    January 26 05:38 PM
  • Crisis Haha no problem man, thought you said it was for the Descent EP but I guess not.
    January 22 04:56 PM
  • promiseswept i saw your list and their new cd fits the straight edge political agenda haha
    January 20 08:36 PM
  • promiseswept have you checked out first blood's new cd yet?
    January 20 06:13 PM
  • SeaAnemone haha I don't really recall the first two instances there (though both of those things you cite are kinda silly in my opinion) but yeah don't worry I know you were kidding about the Fugazi thing (I think) and trust me, it would take a loooooot more than that for anyone on sputnik to actually offend me haha I don't take anything here too seriously :)
    January 20 03:27 AM
  • Inveigh righteous, thanks man
    January 20 03:12 AM
  • SeaAnemone haha huh? where?
    January 20 03:09 AM
  • accompliceofmydeath I don't wanna come off like a douche, but are you English major or something similar?
    January 19 01:36 AM
  • Meatplow I used to be a mod. i'm sure there's some bug that can be exploited though if you look hard enough
    January 15 03:16 AM
  • accompliceofmydeath Sweet, something worth interrupting Starkweather for.
    January 13 02:28 AM
  • accompliceofmydeath Yeah dude, sounds good!
    January 13 02:21 AM
  • SowingSeason (continued) - but it will happen faster if you do something unique...like successfully contradict a highly acclaimed album or be funny (just throwing ConsiderPhlebas out there as a reference point for all that advice). But yeah I have been slacking off with reading various user's reviews but if I'll try to get back into it and check out your stuff when you post it!
    January 11 10:47 PM
  • Crisis We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Not sure when they are going to announce who gets promoted.
    January 11 10:47 PM
  • SowingSeason Ha - Good one. Maybe one day I will but I just got contributor like a month ago or something, and there are plenty of other contribs who have both paid their dues and are better writers in general...so needless to say, staff is a way off for me. But yeah man, keep working at it and I wouldn't be surprised if you get bumped up in the ranks someday. My advice would be to do something to make your reviews stand out - people will notice you anyway after a long time of pumping out quality material
    January 11 10:44 PM
  • Crisis Yeah I've never been banned before until now and I really hope that it doesn't affect my chances at staff (although deep down I have a feeling it will)
    January 11 10:42 PM
  • SowingSeason haha no problem, I only remembered that list because of the similar one that's up now...but yeah your stuff is solid, always interesting to read
    January 11 10:23 PM
  • Crisis I hope it does. Redskyformiles was the one who reported the tomfoolery going on in the news article (which there was, but it was only between 3 people) and asked Dave to ban people, so he goes and bans SIXTEEN of us.
    January 11 10:19 PM
  • Crisis I got caught in the wave of people Dave banned when he purged that Leviathan news article. I made a bad joke saying that Leviathan's next single would be called "****ing your girlfriend with tattoo guns of ice" and I guess that was reason enough (at least in Dave's mind) to slap me with a two week ban. I'm pretty ****ing pissed about it because that's hardly ban-worthy considering what goes on here but they will never reverse a ban.
    January 11 10:05 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath I don't know if you're into indie rock at all, but I've been listening to this band called Piebald a lot. Pretty much a bunch of hardcore kids who made an indie band. It's a lot heavier and not as boring as most indie I'd say.
    January 11 12:52 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Sweet, I'll have to check out Turning Point and Undertow. I've heard of Farside, but I've never listened to them. The grind influence should be interesting in a post-hardcore band. I haven't heard of The Faith or Jackals either; I'll look into them though. I'm not too good with crust bands. I only have a few, but This Life knows a lot more about them.
    January 11 12:51 PM
  • accompliceofmydeath Hey man, haven't talked to ya in a while. What's new?
    January 11 02:56 AM
  • craigy2 I'm the little guy who looks as if he's about to get headbutted in the face by the stage diver. I wish i was in Defeater...You still liking Jackals?
    January 9 07:02 PM
  • craigy2 You see the photo at the top of the Defeater article that FreePizzaDay posted?...I'm in that...Just sayin'
    January 9 06:07 PM
  • FreePizzaDay And I posted it twice because I'm too tired to be anything but woefully incompetent.
    January 8 07:50 AM
  • FreePizzaDay http://www.bridge9.com/view-article/defeater-announces-empty-days-and-sleepless-nights-available-march-8-2011Full press release article on b9: http://www.bridge9.com/view-article/defeater-announces-empty-days-and-sleepless-nights-available-march-8-2011Saw your inquiries in the thread so I grabbed the link for ya if you haven't checked it out already.
    January 8 07:49 AM
  • cvlts yeah Turncoat Campaign. that was back when I was listening to the network hella, solid split. if you haven't already, make sure to pick up both the new counterparts/exalt split and narrows/heiress split.
    January 8 02:18 AM
  • craigy2 Yeah, I felt bad for doing that...It's probably best that you go for the 7inch. It's so cheap anyway. I reckon you'll love it.
    January 8 12:43 AM
  • cvlts in my background, all, i mean all, of the people i hang with listen to nothing outside of the radio so i tend to write i little relaxed as if i were addressing that type of crowd, so informality as always been somewhat of a given in my writing style.
    January 5 08:49 AM
  • cvlts ight man, i think i can understand that, i appreciate it. totally agree with you on the adverb problem, i usually go into writing with one or two adverbs as a description and wind up referencing them waay too much. the whole 'first person/second person' thing is relatively new as my first reviews were in first person, switched it up about half way, now im just starting to go back to first person i think i write more comfortably that way
    January 5 08:47 AM
  • cvlts hey bro, could you expand upon the whole 'informality' ish you have with my writing style? definitely not the first time you've stated it and i'd like to know so i could improve ;]
    January 4 10:13 AM
  • FourSquare20 Nah man, but you have me interested. Thanks for the recommendation.
    December 23 01:00 AM
  • Willie --I have to admit though some reasons were just lol worthy. You guys removed someone for promoting cocaine use, hate and anti-Americanism?-- Every mod has their pet-peeves and off days ;)
    December 22 12:05 AM
  • SeaAnemone hey man just so you know... posted a few edits to your heat death review in the forums... it was good though!
    December 20 06:16 PM
  • SeaAnemone listen to Spokes if you haven't... and also check out A Silver Mt. Zion Orchestra and Set Fire To Flames, think you'd like those bands :)
    December 16 03:47 AM
  • Hawks Haha it's all good man. But yeah Pale Folklore is definitely their best IMO. Best atmosphere of any of their albums.
