| Storm In A Teacup thunder neutral 12? what the **** kind of name is that? prepare for the ass raping of a lifetime!
| Britch2tiger So I've been browsing the Internet for some answers regarding a jazz question, and can't seem to find any so I'm resorting to accounts of larger palettes:What qualities make for a "bad" jazz album?
| Aids yeah one of my favourites. number 6 on my all time list I think ("Somewhere..." by La Dispute is 3 or 4 what of it?)
| Aids yeah no arguments there. just glanced through your (massive) favourite artists sections: props for Jaga Jazzist those guys are unreal.
| Aids good one dude high five
| anarchistfish didn't say it does for everyone. I still hate most scene bands but BMTH aren't really that similar to most of them anyway
| anarchistfish yeah, they were pretty much the first "heavy band with screaming" I got into and those kinda things stick
| anarchistfish yeah well an objective look at the quality of an album often doesn't match with how much a particular person will like it, either. when it comes to ratings I don't look at it objectively at all
| anarchistfish nah, I just love them. I don't rate stuff objectively, based on artistic value or legendary influence or anything.
| anarchistfish lol I just listen to what I like, I'm not forcing you to agree with me
| anarchistfish Botch, Spocks Beard, Beardfish, YES, ELO, The Tallest Man on Earth, Suis La Lune, Laura Stevenson and the Cans, Into Eternity, The Microphones, Beirut, The Mountain Goats, Thursday, Jaga Jazzist, August Burns Red, Envy, Listener, The Get Up Kids, La Dispute Good Old War, Pig Destroyer, The End, Hey Rosetta!, Called to Arms, Weezer (old), The Boss, Intronaut, Neurosis, Rosetta, Time of Orchids, Taking Back Sunday (old), Badly Drawn Boy, The Hold Steady, ,
| anarchistfish favorite bands The National, Converge, mewithoutYou, Bon Iver, Between the Buried and Me, Opeth, Misery Signals, Defeater, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Dear Hunter, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Frightened Rabbit, Wintersleep, The Dilliinger Escape Plan, Cave In, Protest the Hero, Agalloch, Miles Davis, At the Drive-In, Rush, King Crimson, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Dangers, Radiohead, Kashiwa Daisuke, Yasushi Yoshida, The Mars Volta, Brand New, Say Anything, John Coltrane
| DarthMann ok proggy ive decided that you arent my true enemy. i wish to make a treaty, i will stop being mean to you and bagging you and such, and we can become friends and i can focus on my all out attack on Cells, Systemunfolded and Thronofagony/restrikted etc. i hope you accept
| Ending I don't understand why you aren't one of my musical neighbours. :(

| Maniac! I've been saying that for over a year. It's my favorite Neurosis song.

| Activista anti-MTV Favorite MGS sputnik usernames: Otacon, SolidSnake, VulcanRaven, BigBoss
| InFiction Yeah man, I'm really enjoying it too! Unfortunately, due to the internet, I basically know everything that's going to happen so it's been spoiled a bit for me. Still, a great game! I love your profile picture by the way, Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of my favourite games ever. Talk about a masterpiece!
| Activista anti-MTV MGS: Shadow Moses is my favorite. 1) MGS: Shadow Moses 2) MGS: Peace Walker 3) MGS: Snake Eater 4) MGS: Sons of Liberty 5) MGS: The Original
| Activista anti-MTV Snakes favorite quotes: What the hell... Who the hell... What the hell Ninja... I need a smoke
| Activista anti-MTV I like the avatar. Nice fives list too. I like the profile picture as well. #whoa #creepedout
| macadoolahicky Something tells me you disagree. I don't blame you. I am actually surprised to see a staff member wrote a 3 review for it. I thought they all loved that album.
| Relinquished Ah, The Trees. The song makes me think of the Kurt Vonnegut short story "Harrison Bergeron", which presents a world where absolutely social equality is enforced by crippling those with special abilities so they are at the same level as the lowest common denominator. It's essentially a clever retelling of the "tall poppy syndrome", where people want to cut people with more money, talent, better looks, or whatever, down to size. I'm not sure if at the end the maples have arranged to have the oaks
| BigHans go check out what I willed you in my latest list
| KILL well its kinda like, multiple shoice s*** like what you say changes the path, but overall yea the story is good s*** although the endings kinda lame, nah most missions are KILL s*** or run places just like most rpgs but **** it it rules hard, the map isnt as big as elder scrolls game but **** it theres more packed in hard so yea enjoy it game ruled and theres lots of titties to be playing with
| qwe3 nah you annoy people who get annoyed by annoying people
| Xenophanes Well that hasn't happened in awhile because 2011 was an awful year for post-rock. We got Sigur Ros, Mono, Do Make Say Think, and hopefully GY! BE coming out this year so I'll be a busy guy
| Xenophanes Jesus people am i really that predictable???
| BigHans if you listen to the TMV over TT youre a hug f aggot
| Xenophanes Lapochka isn't that great either. But I really like the mood of the record as a whole. It's kind of fun but kind of serious at the same time. And like you said there are a lot of truly outstanding tracks. As a whole, I expected much worse. Much, much worse. Maybe a 3.5-4 so far for me.
| Xenophanes Octahedron is my third favorite of theirs, but yeah so far it's beating out Amp. and Bedlam easily. I'm pleased. The opener is pretty bad, but Aegis and Empty Vessles are so, so, so ****ing good.
| Xenophanes did you throw away your TMV shirt yet??
| taxidermist Yo bro, here ya go (lol that rhymed)http://filepost.com/files/c94fcc33/www.NewAlbumReleases.net_The_Mars_Volta_-_Noctourniquet_(2012).rar
| seedofnothing Here's a new song I just finished. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks. This one is melodic blackened DMhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8F2djB-Wis
| BigHans good job. Have you even heard Powerage/
| Vesper Clearly, bigger than your brain or your grasp of Sputnik references.
| BigHans Its better because it rawks harder. Although Sunday is a much deeper album
| BigHans Thanks. Ive always wanted to rewrite that one since its so long
| silentpotato i dont understand what point you are trying to make u don't even know the context of what i was saying
| BigHans If I did it I would, since it is in fact the best metalcore album ever
| BigHans nah dont feel like having a bunch of scene fags arguing with me.
| BigHans lol Ill take that as a compliment I guess.
| aflak7 oh and btw you will NEVER get red back. EVER! and dispatch isnt that bad but im not a huge fan. that one album seems pretty solid
| aflak7 the make me progressivly more sucidal. lol progressivly. get it? **** radiohead
| aflak7 have you even heard how bad camel is? yuck
| aflak7 hate to break it to you bro.... but camel really isnt THAAT good. 3/5
| JamieCTA Thanks for the compliments dude. And we definitely do want to record more stuff. We've all been friends for a long time and remain close, we just have other life commitments and distances between us that make it hard to be a real band is all. We aren't sure which direction we would go in yet for a new EP or LP though. Lots of opportunities
| TheSpirit Okay thanks man. I loved Never Born, Never Dead and even though I know it's gonna way different, the bands natural talent makes me really excited to hear it. Cheers man.
| Motiv3 Counterparts are awesome, their newest album isn't as good though. Tbh I haven't been bothered to listen to music much for the past 2 months, hence why I haven't been on here much.
| TheSpirit Not a big fan of Agalloch but I'll check out that Cave In album always heard good things about them. Thanks. I really do hope you don't think there is any animosity between us, I'm not as juvenile as some of the other users around here.
| TheSpirit Not a big fan of Agalloch but I'll check out that Cave In album always heard good things about them
| TheSpirit Any genre, I just want albums that are good
| TheSpirit I don't understand why you're being so confrontational, I was being completely serious the whole time. I know the rest of the site apparently has some big problem with you but I don't at all. Any genre basically, I'm pretty bored with the music I have and would like anything new.
| TheSpirit What? I was being serious, I'm really looking for some recs
| TheSpirit Hey man, how are you? Despite any differences we may have had in the past (although im not even sure if we did), you have some good taste and I was wondering if you had recommendations for albums of any genre
| Ponds glad my review didnt offend you too much
| JamieCTA hey man. Yea, I started CTA my freshman year of college. Hard to believe that was almost nine years ago haha. We haven't really done much in awhile unfortunately since the last album came out - everyone works different jobs across a few different states now. Hopefully we get to work on at least another EP or something. Thanks for supporting us on here!
| Dis_Con_Nec_Ted Just chilling on this beautiful winter sunday, checking if the site is 'intact' while listening some CoF etc. You?
| Yuli Okay, dude, I want to know why so many call you ProgMaster.
| Hawks You're such a fag. [3]
| Hawks Dude you try way too hard.
| Hawks You're such a fag. [2]
| FrankRedHot If that's the best you've got, that's sad. Please spare me that petty bulls*** insult next time so I don't have to waste 2 more seconds of my life.
| FrankRedHot Oh god that hurt! Oh you really showed me! Such maturity in your insults! So true! I've never seen a woman! You're so right! I've been lying about my kids the whole time! I never impregnated a woman! I just adopted them! Oh you found me out! Good job!
| Maniac! http://turntable.fm/weve_got_the_jazz
| Maniac! Of course I do. Charles Mingus and John Coltrane are the shizznit
| SeaAnemone yeah i'm not really into that alt-rock-y stuff very much at the moment and haven't been for a while but that album is super nostalgic and rules really hard all around. you didn't like it before?
| qwe3 I guess that's one way to run out of ideas
| fsharptrit0ne hah yea. he has a lot of material under different names. soundtrack is his best though
| fsharptrit0ne dl soundtrack soundtrack to a vacant life. it's all over the place
| fsharptrit0ne you ever check out the flashbulb? it's a one man project like cloudkicker, but wayyyyy better
| qwe3 see the problem is youre copypasting a good artist whereas im copypasting bad artists. its like saying da vinci was a terrible painter then backing it up by referencing madonna of the rocks and the mona lisa
| qwe3 1) Metallica 1728 plays 2) Between the Buried and Me 1183 plays
| qwe3 That's correct! next week we'll learn ctrl p for print!
| sniper yeah i would tell you to wiki it but they're doing the anti-sopa blackout thing.
| sniper yeah, they think he might have died from being afraid of the number 13. weird for sure.
| sniper yeah i've heard a fair amount of schoenberg's work. his twelve-tone system only seems random if you don't know how it's implemented, it isn't as if all the music is just random, he just did quirky things to come up with the order of notes for the first row form. he actually took more liberties with his own system than most people who came after him did.
| sniper 20th century classical music is where its at for me, i love the variety that happened when tonal music finally broke down.
| sniper if you've heard those two and wasn't into, they're probably not for you, yeah. i don't really consider them a post-harcore band really, just inventive guitar-rock. i'm more into classical music than jazz these days but yeah i'd love to take an early american music/jazz class. i've read more about that than the average 20 year old i'm sure but its a huge scene.
| Athom if you want legitimately angry music get acquainted with the genre of music known as powerviolence. bands like Iron Lung, Infest, Hatred Surge, Weekend Nachos, Spazz, Man is the Bastard, and Charles Bronson
| sniper i'm a music major. but they don't teach any classes about popular music, i really meant a history class not a music class. what fugazi have you heard?
| sniper i'm falling in love with punk music more and more. just getting into fugazi really for the first time. i wish i could take a history of punk-rock class.
| sniper i got a d/l for pre-ordering the 12" which i can't wait to hear because honestly 256kbps isn't cutting it. it's better through headphones, seriously rages. and i'm really not a fan of most of the wave bands, pianos being the exception, but even they have started to feel sort of lackluster to me. i prefer a more mature sound. loma are doing things most hardcore bands never learn to do.
| sniper i legitimately think loma prieta are the new face of true emocore. its pretty rare that emo bands capture such a serious and focused sound. extremely, extremely effective. i almost want to review it.
| BaselineOOO Ohhh I get it now! "Shiina Ringo" a metaphor for your taste!
| BigHans yeah but its not the most important thing in music.
| Masochist I changed one of the choices on that list (nothing you voted on). If you have an opinion on Modest Mouse, do you prefer: 'The Lonesome Crowded West' or 'The Moon and Antarctica'?
| BigHans your rating for Slippery When Wet is retarded. You're gay.
| Ire got really high at 7 am and made ham n cheese sammiches while listening to sir lord baltimore. it was ****ing awesome
| Ire i wish u would wish harder
| BaselineOOO Please! Opeth is even cheesier than Katatonia.
| MarvellousG You best be referring to Subsistence for 3, it's the best version of the best thing possible
| RooseveltsGhost Agalloch IS a black metal band, but without the tremolo picking, blast beats and banshee shrieking. This is... an interesting development.
| jefflebowski Well, exactly, I mean I love Kind Of Blue and ESP, but this album is so much more badass. McLaughlin's guitar work rules, and Miles' soloing was never better/more mental
| jefflebowski true that. some of his earlier stuff comes close, but this destroys Kind of Blue IMO. Right Off is so good it hurts
| Crysis Anything by Garden of Shadows, "Into The Halls Of The Blind" by Hypocrite, "Absence" by Noumena, "The Fifth Season" by Sacrilege or "The Arcanum" by Suidakra
| KILL Sludgy, Proggy, intense and one hell of a ride. I'm not surprised that Mastodon is becoming more popular; their discography is too damn awesome to not be recognized.
| Motiv3 going through the collection slower than u, taking everything in. Currently listening to Black and omg this rules, so different from what TDH usually does. Im on my 4th-5th listen through it, its probably a 4.
| Motiv3 gonna listen to this tommorrow (its 3:25 am) at some point. Expecting awesomeness.
| Motiv3 i see u are listening to all the colour ep's seperately..ive downloaded the complete collection, maybe ill have to do with ur doing.
| Parallels when the new DT album comes out you should just 5 it and write the most fanboyish review ever
| Motiv3 well i listened to the whole thing and it sucks.
| Motiv3 judge an album based on 3 songs where there are 13....gg :P
| Motiv3 so new trivium album isnt that good?
| Motiv3 haha isnt quite there for me ;). Maybe it will be at some point.
| Motiv3 great rating for lost ground, glad you finally rated it. Definitely the best defeater record, its my favourite EP ever.
| SeaAnemone ok... very different one from that for ya then... Silkworm - Lifestyles. underappreciated 90's album here.
| SeaAnemone have exactly what you're looking for... one of the Kinsella bros (from American Football / Cap'n Jazz) has a solo thing called Owen, a few lackluster albums but At Home With Owen is the closest I've come to 5ing an album in forever. Just discovered last week and it's perfect. Amazing lyricist. Listen to one of the best, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2IZbnsdzOk
| Deviant. Even cuter that you took the time to write me, thanks sweetie
| Maniac! 3. My review got featured for the first time
| aflak7 i say lalalalalala CYNIC
| aflak7 i meant to say traced in air
| aflak7 you are not digging btbam. and traced in air
| SeaAnemone yeah I think you'll really dig sailboats then... actually no need to even download that one. just look up the story behind them (it's kinda lol and interesting) and only listen to their song "Behind Trees" as it's easily one of my few favorites of emo/punk/anything.
| SeaAnemone sorry if you've heard some of these, but:The Pine - The Pine (soooo good)Beau Navire - Life MovesSailboats - demoHoneywell - discographythose first three are really short and these are all more in the fast/hardcore vein which I don't usually go for but they're all superb, let me know what you think!
| SeaAnemone haha I'm flattered dude thanks... I just got a lastfm account a few hurs ago, i'll add ya
| Strider Well, we both like Metallica ^^
| Strider And I think I could make that list, and manage to not put BFMV in it
| Strider I just like to think that BFMV are holding back (a lot...)
I used to like BTBAM, but now, I just don't get the hype around them, sort of killed it for me =/
| Strider They make better music than BTBAM :p
JK... I really can't stand the band, that's all, though White Walls is a f***ing awesome song
| Motiv3 you only just realised? lol xD
| Motiv3 why did u even bother to listen to hawthorne heights lol
| Maniac! I shall s*** upon your head. Good day, sir.
| Maniac! I barely listen to them anymore, so pick on a new band ;)
| Maniac! well if you looked at my last list, I killed myself. So I can't post anymore.
