  • BigPleb Same man! I get you about Kid A, its a make or break for most people.
    July 22 03:42 PM
  • BigPleb Heard em both dude, both never really grabbed me. Saying that, I spun em both twice I believe, have them 3'd on here. Definitely gonna revisit em after I'm done with Asymmetry a few more times!
    July 22 01:36 PM
  • BigPleb Dude, I think I'm coming around with Karnivool. I always thought their material has been just 'ok' but Asymmetry has really grabbed me!
    July 22 01:29 PM
  • grizz haha who'da thunk it after like 7 years something good came out of that. I gotta ask tho, how does the twilight fan die?
    June 21 03:49 PM
  • Butkuiss Oh, and it looks like my guitar search is over. I ended up getting a brand new Gretsch Electromatic Hollowbody double cutaway from the guitarist from We Lost the Sea for half price, along with custom bridge and tickets to their next gig. The thing is a beast.
    May 26 02:07 AM
  • Butkuiss That's what the good old abandon-and-forget method is for, my friend. But I'll admit I rarely abandon projects constantly. I usually just indefinitely procrastinate until I forget, which is worse in my opinion. But yeah, I can imagine how the music vid would be like that.Ha, like I said, I haven't done much of note of late, but I'll send over the piece that's in consideration. At least that one's semi-decent compared to my usual drivel. And complete too. :L
    May 17 07:54 AM
  • Butkuiss It doesn't really bother me to be quite honest. The journey is always the worthier part, and as long as I enjoy the creative process, the end result doesn't have to be the be all and end all. That said, I've got an idea for a full-length novel I'm sitting on right now that I'm hesitant to start because of how busy everything is. It's stewing pretty well, though. I'm always eager to read/hear any s*** you've got going though, as ever.
    May 12 11:38 AM
  • how are you doing this evening :]
    May 11 08:28 AM
  • Butkuiss Short stories, poetry and novels, though I usually ditch a novel around 50 or 100 pages in. Commitment issues. I'm actually in the process of (hopefully) getting one of my short stories published in a showcase; last time I heard it was in the final round for consideration, so here's to hoping. And yeah, I haven't written anything substantive in five or so months. And Deftones isn't till Wednesday, but i can't wait.
    May 11 12:32 AM
  • Butkuiss Nah, I totally get that man. I guess I'm more like that with my written work than I am musical, which is more of a release. I won't deny I try to get stuff published from time to time, but I don't know. I think attempting to maintain a pure mindset is important for your stuff to seem genuine. Yeah, it was a ****ing awesome venue. I can't believe it closed. It was probably the most intimate venue we had. And I've already seen both Deftones and ll. and honestly I'm more excited for ll. right now
    May 9 12:10 AM
  • Butkuiss The Annandale closing really hurt, but Manning, Roundhouse, Bald Faced Stag, Oxford Arts and a few other bars always have good punk/metal/prog/hip hop shows on. That Molly Drake LP is a real gem. Thanks! And sorry for the double post. Typing from my phone is a chore.
    May 7 03:41 AM
  • Butkuiss As long as you're making something that fulfils you without compromise or reservation you'll be fulfilled either way. Whatever else happens is incidental, and that's what the deepest expression is, in my opinion. Just my two cents, as usual. I do most things alone, so it doesn't really bother me I guess. Most of my mates aren't into my music either, so i've never really had it another way. But I get your point. The sydney scene is pretty good.
    May 7 03:38 AM
  • Butkuiss At the end if the day, even though positive feedback is nice, who really cares what other people think (or don't). The chances that anyone gets 'big' off their art is so small it's almost negligible. I know so many amazing artists of all disciplines who've never had so much as a taste of recognition for their work. At the same time though, the unexpected can happen to anyone at any time.
    May 7 03:34 AM
  • Yazz_Flute It'd be smarter to get a percussionist with experience outside of simple rock drumming, but I don't think any smart player would have too much trouble with what you programmed; it's a little unconventional for sure, but it's not all that technically demanding as long as you find somebody who knows how to count.
    May 6 04:54 PM
  • Yazz_Flute I'm a music major with a concentration on classical percussion if that helps! Except I live in Connecticut.
    May 6 01:01 AM
  • Butkuiss I guess all I'm really saying is don't jump to disregard an end because the intent was dubious. And really dude? I love going to concerts alone. I really only go alone or with my girlfriend these days, though a few mates are coming Deftones with me. I'm lucky in that I've managed to score a pile of free tickets this year; I've only paid for about half those gigs. If I had to I would've gone to a lot less I think. ;)
    May 5 08:27 AM
  • Butkuiss It's not a bad thing, but the second EP was a conscious effort to expand upon, experiment with, and in many ways when looking at your past work, completely disregard, convention and form. Regardless of whether you're suspicious of your motivations at this point, the result of that experiment was an original creative voice. The Aviator's sound was more identifiably unique, and emotionally cathartic, and I think that's something to be valued. Or that's how I see it anyway.
    May 5 08:25 AM
  • Butkuiss Oh no, I totally get that. But there's often a dichotomy between intent and expression when it comes to art, in my opinion anyway. Damaged Machine (or Uno as it's now called; I'm showing my age here), as I took it, was just you writing and performing whatever came naturally, for fun. It stayed within what you knew, and as a result derived a lot of influence from NIN/Deftones/Soundgarden/what have you.
    May 5 08:20 AM
  • Butkuiss Also, you seen any good gigs lately dude? This year has been awesome for me. Death Grips, GY!BE, Swans, Pimmon, Converge, Old Man Gloom, Sabbath, Tool, with letlive. and Deftones next week and PBTT, la Dispute and Boris in a few months. I also had tickets to DZ Deathrays and DLC but missed them for various reasons.
    May 5 03:09 AM
  • Butkuiss That's actually really funny; I felt like it was trying less to fit a mold than the first EP. Love and Protest isn't a track I particularly like, but The Sojourner, Divide, Keeper and especially Trampled Underfoot are all great tracks in my eyes. I go back to it more often than I go back to A Damaged Machine; maybe because in retrospect the EP sounded less derivative in style than A Damaged Machine did, and it had a much broader sonic palette without going too over the top.
    May 5 02:07 AM
  • OmairSh Dude its seriously very impressive, props, whats the link to your EP?
    May 4 07:32 AM
  • OmairSh Your video is pretty cool, you composed the music, sang and made the video?
    May 4 07:00 AM
  • Butkuiss I could always say more, but that basically sums it up. Can't wait to hear what you've got next. My audio interface finally arrived, so I'm demoing again, but itll be slow goings till uni slows down.
    May 4 01:59 AM
  • Butkuiss The final two minutes especially. As for Venusian, its definitely a more enigmatic name than Occupants, and given the situation, I don't think its too bad a choice. Here's to hoping you can settle on a band name one day soon though. ;)
    May 4 01:57 AM
  • Butkuiss Colonel? It would seem all my partisan action hasn't gone unnoticed after all. Great work with the video, though. Visuals are great. It's quite interesting musically too; it feels like an slightly more avant expansion on the first EP. Also the production is the finest yet. I don't think the song quite takes the place of the Aviator material as my favourite of yours, but its great nonetheless.
    May 4 01:55 AM
  • Yazz_Flute I'd be all for it as long as you don't change it again haha. Do you have a tentative release date for any material?
    May 4 12:12 AM
  • omnipanzer Hey bro, I'll check it out when I get home tonight.
    May 3 12:20 PM
  • Yazz_Flute Why so mercurial with the project moniker? Heheh. I enjoyed that though; looks like a lot of work went into production of the video.
    May 2 10:24 PM
  • Butkuiss Yep, same here. Stuff for my bass rig is the priority so I can do proper live s*** but I'm slowly working to get a decent guitar and mixing/production station going in here too. I've been looking into some weirder instruments like lap steels too, purely because why the **** not.I can't wait to see them both. Was that for that Venusian song? (I think that was the name). Make sure you hit me up when they're up man. It sounds like a s***ton of work.

    April 26 04:49 AM
  • Gnocchi Do you want in?
    April 25 09:34 PM
  • Butkuiss Yeah, I feel ya. it's slow goings but I'm scraping together the cash for a decent setup finally. And music videos? For old stuff, or is that double A-Side you were working on aeons ago finally going to see the light of day?
    April 25 06:41 AM
  • Butkuiss Ha, it sounds pretty decent to me. And by the way, it looks like those blokes from Cog stole your band name!
    April 25 03:38 AM
  • Butkuiss if the Alesis is still s***ting me after it comes back from repair I'll be sure to look into the Behringer though. I played in a few bands in the local area, and I guess I'm technically still in one now, but they're all pretty quiet at the moment cause of study. And yeah, I love science, but the workload is kinda insane. Worse than engineering for sure. International Studies seems pretty interesting too though. I'm envious of the 2 day week.
    April 25 03:38 AM
  • Butkuiss Like I said, I'll be sure to send it along. Right now I'm DIing my Warwick bass and Washburn guitar into Logic, with vox through an AT2020 all through an Alesis iO2 interface, but I'm updating my bass rig over the next few months, as well as investing in a decent electric for the guitar parts. I'll probably borrow a friend's Boogie or Terror and plug it through my bass cab for final guitar parts.
    April 25 03:35 AM
  • Butkuiss Also you never bloody told me you did a covers record. For shame.
    April 24 10:10 AM
  • Butkuiss I still write everything on bass initially though, so a lot of the songs are very bass driven, but I'm really experimenting with sounds from vocals and guitars in ways that I usually don't get to in a normal band setting. Two days? What're you studying, man? I'm doing a Bachelor's in Science (Advanced) at Sydney uni, which is meant to be a 5 day degree, but I managed to squeeze it into 4. The workload is a killer but I spend 3.5 hours traveling to and from uni every day, so it had to be done.
    April 21 12:56 PM
  • Butkuiss I've been meaning to send some stuff along once I finish a track but it's still really bare bones at the moment. Once I finish demoing guitars and vocals on the first track (which is pretty much fully written now) I'll be sure to send some stuff over though.Ha, I've actually toned down the bass a lot on this EP. It's more an excercise for me in composition, arrangement and songwriting than bass virtuosity, so my playing style is a bit more relaxed.
    April 21 12:53 PM
  • Butkuiss I've also been conscripted to contribute vox to a friend's post-metal-ish project for funsies, but again, that's in limbo until I can get my recording sorted. Between all that I've been shopping for new gear as well as jamming with a few mates, so yeah. How's Occupants coming along dude? Got anything sorted for a new EP release yet?!
    April 21 12:42 PM
  • Butkuiss Hey dude! Long time no talk. I've been in the process of writing/recording a (tentatively) 5-track EP as a solo project quite recently. It's kind of a post-rock/screamo/psychedelic sludge sort of thing; not the most original, but fun playing. It's pretty slow goings though, seeing as I'm full time at uni 4 days a week and working nights between. My audio interface also crapped out last month, so I'm kind of in limbo until it returns from warranty repairs.
    April 21 12:40 PM
  • pissbore yeah bro i hear you, it can definitely be difficult and annoying when you find yourself surrounded by people who are operating on an entirely different wavelength/mindset... believe me, i can relate. the pressures of society can be overwhelming at times but do your best to maintain your perspective and keep a sound frame of mind and you will persevere. i recommend watching the movie again, it takes a few viewings to really soak in everything and it gets better every time
    April 19 02:19 AM
  • Vooligan Wish i saw Converge. But Godspeed You! Black Emperor played on the same night, so I was at that instead. Was pretty epic.
    March 15 03:08 PM
  • Vooligan Oh and saw them at The Forum in Melb a couple of weeks ago. They were crap
    March 15 12:36 PM
  • Vooligan Lanterns and This Fire make me want to stab things they're that bad. The rest is okay. White Leaves and Liquid Arms are the only ones i really listen to now. It got old pretty quickly
    March 15 12:35 PM
  • ButteryBiscuitBass No problem mate, anytime. Hope I can help. I used to have really bad anxiety and I know how horrible it is, but it gets easier. Take care.
    February 4 11:26 AM
  • Vooligan Ninja will rip your face off. They'll definitely be in uniform and they'll probably convince you how good Silent Machine is. They're such a tight live band.
    February 3 09:33 AM
  • Vooligan This is 10000000x better than anything Zeke's done since Mammal.
    January 30 10:59 AM
  • Vooligan Over Reactor are s***. These guys should be good, apparently they've got most of an album recorded.
    January 28 02:34 PM
  • Vooligan In case you haven't seen, Zeke has a new band called The Nerve. It's essentially Mammal Part 2. https://www.facebook.com/thenerveaustralia
    January 28 10:44 AM
  • omnipanzer The Aviator? what's this?
    December 4 02:18 PM
  • omnipanzer http://sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=112823
    December 3 09:12 PM
  • How about I'll start writing some lyrics and maybe some riffs as well. (Even though I can't play guitar I can write pretty well). Should I send you some lyrics later on to work with and such?
    November 27 02:21 AM
  • I've got the other members man. When do you want to start on the project?
    November 25 07:27 PM
  • I sent you a skype invite man.
    November 21 04:58 AM
  • Wow, that track was really good. I really liked how the vocals and the drumming gave the track a chaotic feeling but it still flowed well and had a sense of melody to it. What's your skype? I'll send ya an invite.
    November 20 08:16 PM
  • Also, what do you want to do in the project? I'm doing vox and bass, and souleater is gonna do guitar.
    November 20 08:57 AM
  • Well, I have a music website that I just started up the other day if you want to join that? http://toxicblade.forumotion.com/ The other two who are in on the project so far have already joined.
    November 20 08:47 AM
  • Hey man, do you have a facebook so we can talk more about the project?
    November 20 08:43 AM
  • Butkuiss And yeah, I've heard of amplitube. I might give it a go a bit later, when I get time. Right now I'm working on trying to get my voice back up there; I've lost a lot of my high range. I can sort of feel it coming back, but any screaming or harsh vocals that isn't a low growl just sounds like air escaping from a hose. So we'll see how it goes i guess.
    October 12 02:32 AM
  • Butkuiss LYSFLATH is easily in my top 10 albums of all time. It's an amazing record; I like it quite a bit more than F#, but that's just my opinion. I never really thought you sounded much like a tech-metal vocalist; your voice might have a similar range or tonal quality, but I always thought that that slight twinge or warp in your voice that gives you the sort of depressing quality always leant more towards Deftones than something like Periphery. Regardless, I can't wait to see how your voice turns out.
    October 12 02:31 AM
  • Butkuiss Song is pretty damn cool. I'm plodding along, as always. Nowadays I'm trying to dial in some good guitar tones. I'm running Pod Farm through Logic but I'm not quite used to dialing in guitars vs. bass tones, so it's taking a bit longer than usual. And yeah, my voice is absolutely ruined from all these infections, so no vox for a good while now.
    October 2 11:48 AM
  • Butkuiss Yeah, Defeater were great. Derek did the entire set with a broken ankle and a cane; was pretty awesome. A mate of mine is absolutely obsessed with Sufjan, so I'm always hearing him. And yeah, I can't wait for GY!BE and Swans. Have you heard GY!BE's new album yet? Yeah, I've already had some diaphragm training for a few different things, so I know kinda what's going on, I just need to refine and practice I guess. And top notch work as always with your recording.
    October 2 11:47 AM
  • Butkuiss Even edge's positivity is debatable, really. Thanks bro. Slow goings with the voice recovering and stuff, so who knows when it'll be up, but I'll keep you posted! I've slowed down on the music recently; but I've really been digging new Swans, a lot of Sufjan Stevens, some Cat Stevens, and Lights. I'm seeing Defeater tonight, and GY!BE and Swans in Feb, so I can't wait for that.
    September 29 05:40 AM
  • Butkuiss "It doesn't matter how it sounds as long as it has emotion", and I've kind of paid for it. Regardless though, the past year I've been working on my voice intermittently, and I'm slowly building it up, as well as my guitar skills, for this project. I'm kind of using this project as a vehicle for songwriting exploration rather than virtuosity, so again, it's more that the guitar especially, and vocals, are tools for its execution. And thanks for all the help and advice too, man. I'll work on it.
    September 28 12:40 AM
  • Butkuiss But then again, that could be because I had pretty much the same philosophy. My early teens, and when I first started out as a vocalist, I was pretty much fixated on metalcore, and tried to model my vocal technique after Jesse Leach from early killswitch and Winston McCall from Parkway Drive. As a result of that, I've blown out my voice completely a few times, and my higher range especially is a bit thin thanks to years of abuse. I guess I always had that hardcore mentality of
    September 28 12:38 AM
  • Butkuiss First off, sorry for the extremely late reply, man. I thought I was over the infection and prematurely started going about my everyday life and working out and stuff again, and ended up back in bed and worse off than before, and between that and general life, this kind of got passed along the wayside (if you'll pardon the pun). Yeah, I could always hear what you were doing on the EP. I have to say though, you hid it well, and I really didn't mind, from a listener's perspective.
    September 28 12:35 AM
  • Vooligan This: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZx1jKUDfJo
    September 7 11:06 AM
  • Vooligan Yep, it and One are by far the best things in djent, with Gnosis not far behind. You should youtube the singer from Uneven Structure, he's got a video of him nailing one of the songs in one take. Ridiculous.
    September 7 11:04 AM
  • Butkuiss ...so my singing is still a bit pitchy, which I really have to work on. But practice makes perfect, I guess. Hopefully I should improve a bit while I'm working on this project. What about you, dude?
    September 6 12:02 PM
  • Butkuiss I'm back up and walking now, which is great. Doc said if I left it a few more days to get treatment I would've been hospitalised with atypical pneumonia, so I guess I should count myself lucky.I've been a 'vocalist' for around four or five years now, on and off, but I rarely sung until fairly recently. My home ground is still shouting/screaming/growling/shrieking/yelling/rapping/spoken word/etc., and doing all that incorrectly when I was younger has ****ed my voice a bit...
    September 6 12:01 PM
  • Butkuiss Don't worry, I'll be sure to send along a track once it's completed. Unfortunately, things have hit a bit of a snag, as I've got a nasty throat infection which renders me pretty much incapable of recording any vocals properly, but as soon as all that clears up I'll start demoing s*** again!
    August 29 11:52 AM
  • Butkuiss As far as actual material goes, I'm not sure what'll make it on and what won't, but so far, I've got two tracks pretty much completed, as well as two ideas/tracks half-completed that I'm dicking around with. Sonically, it's all a bit strange, but to me, it sounds equal parts hardcore, post-rock, and a bit of metal filtered through whatever weird indie I'm listening to this week.
    August 13 01:40 PM
  • Butkuiss Logic's MIDI grid is fairly intuitive, I find, after a few minutes. I'm still having a lot of fun dicking around with tones, both DI and run through my amp first, at this point though. Building good recording tones takes a bunch of time, but it's fun, so I can't complain. And thanks for the offer dude! If I get it off the ground, I want to try and teach myself to do it all, but I'd love some help along the way!
    August 13 01:28 PM
  • Vooligan Man i just saw Rosetta twice over the past week. Probably the best live act i've ever seen, you need to get into them if you haven't already.
    August 10 02:59 PM
  • Butkuiss Just thought I'd drop by and let you know that I've decided to get my ass into gear of late; I'm teaching myself guitar and Superior Drummer and I'm demoing s*** through Logic, so with any luck, I should actually have something semi-decent up by the end of the year.
    August 5 02:18 AM
  • Beauville88 Hey, don't let the s***heads of this place bring you down. Keep up the good work!
    August 3 05:27 PM
  • silentpotato ok good i was pretty sure we were cool but i was worried i was wrong@!
    July 21 10:28 AM
  • silentpotato why are you mad at me do we have beef i cant keep track of these things
    July 20 09:14 PM
  • Butkuiss I think its a universal fear of all musicians, to differing degrees though. But you're right, it all kinda comes down to chance in the end. Though if you're ever down in Sydney and in need of some bass, hit me up. ;) Believe me when I say there's literally nothing half decent out there. If I had something half good to link I would, but what is is generally a few years old, and recorded on mobile phones or the like. Though you'll be the first to know if I get some decent stuff happening anytime!
    July 8 08:54 AM
  • Butkuiss Yes and no. I know people who'd be able to play material I write/am into, but whether they have the inclination to do so is another factor altogether. Drummers are always the hardest to find though. I think we went for around a year without a drummer, until one of the guys' brothers picked up the drums. I have a really weird style as a bassist, so finding a drummer to lock in with properly has always been a problem. The odd demo/live gig of us is floating around, but nothing I'm proud of. :L
    July 6 04:32 AM
  • Butkuiss By the way, I'm known as Butkuiss pretty much ubiquitously across all the social sites and such, so if you ever need to get in touch with me, I should pop up under that name.
    July 5 08:54 AM
  • Butkuiss I go to a fairly middle class school in the Western Suburbs of Sydney (go figure), so the dynamic gets pretty interesting at times. Writer's block is a bitch. I haven't written much music or written stuff lately, unfortunately, due to a combination of school (I'm an academic sadist; in NSW we're only required to study 10 "units" at school; I do 13) and just general writer's block. Regardless, man, I can't wait to hear all this material you're sitting on!
    July 5 08:53 AM
  • Butkuiss especially when you add in my super eclectic music taste. So we don't usually write or cover much, because finding something we all like equally is a huge pain in the ass. It's usually just informal jam sessions or local events for fun. I really only know one or two people who have similar taste in music to me, and only one of them is a musician, unfortunately, so that puts a damper on things...
    July 5 08:46 AM
  • Butkuiss Really? Wow, that's awesome. I never even knew! Fancy that. Thanks man, I'll take that as a compliment. Trust me, sometimes too many musicians is just as bad as not enough, especially when they're as eclectic as the ones I know. Getting guitarist who's equally obsessed with Steve Vai and A Day To Remember, a pianist/guitarist who's been studying music since he was 7 or so, another bassist who is pop-punk obsessed, and a drummer who loves Skrillex and Dave Grohl to cooperate is usually difficult,
    July 5 08:43 AM
  • Butkuiss You've got me really interested in it now. It sounds pretty fresh. The double A-side too. Your insane release schedule makes me feel pale in comparison, dude. Props!
    July 5 07:41 AM
  • Butkuiss By trade I'm a bassist and vocalist; I can't carry anything more than a simple tune, but have a background as a metal vocalist, I take vocals for the more metal/hardcore/punk/hip-hop sort of stuff, and play bass for the more technical/jazzy/prog stuff. Lately I've also fallen in love with the tambourine. That instrument is gold, man. But yeah, music is pretty much on hold till the end of the year now for us. :( That description sounds absolutely awesome. I can't wait to hear the record!
    July 5 07:39 AM
  • Butkuiss Damn man, I thought you knew! Yeah, it's my last year, so I'm only there for a few more months until the HSC. The band is more a loose collective these days; there's no definite lineup, and we're all multi-instrumentalists from a pretty eclectic set of musical backgrounds, so it's mainly guys who we know from the local area/etc...
    July 5 07:34 AM
  • Butkuiss Unfortunately, my band has been bogged down in school-and-life-related stuff of late, save for a live appearance or two, but hopefully once October passes I'll get s*** organised again. It's killing me at the moment.
    July 5 03:21 AM
  • Butkuiss To be honest all I heard was Scarlet, Passenger and Make Total Destroy. I liked MTD, but it wore off after a while, and I haven't even bothered checking out the rest of the album. I had a feeling it'll be underwhelming. And awesome! Make sure you send it by as soon as it's done; I'll give it a writeup for you man. It's the least I can do...
    July 5 03:19 AM
  • Butkuiss Not a great fan of the new Periphery, then?

  • Vooligan Eh, i think they'll just peter out into nothing now. The problems weren't just between Clint and the others. The other three all had fights with each other at different points as well, so i wouldn't be surprised if they never find a singer and just fade away. Clint was the main attraction for them anyway, so i think he'll take most of the fans and no one will really care about the others.
    June 9 05:36 AM
  • Vooligan Yeah im the same man, been listening to a whole bunch of random stuff lately. On a huge pop punk binge at present, its weird. I dont even know why lol. Saw TBE's last show last night, was ridiculous. They played for about two hours and we got Consequence, The Cell, Take it Away, Sweet and Low, Perception Twin, Always etc etc etc. Epic.
    June 9 05:06 AM
  • Vooligan I like Torture Den, but otherwise its nothing special. I dont really listen to much of that type of music anymore anyways. Favourite Australian band at the moment is The Siren Tower. You should check them out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r78LPCEk0Q
    June 7 04:28 AM
  • Butkuiss Loved it! A bit more to my taste than Passenger, so that's always a positive. We'll see how the album goes, hopefully it's good! Few good releases seem to be coming up soon.
    June 5 08:10 AM
  • Butkuiss Goddamnit, I forgot sput doesn't recognise non-standard characters. The question marks were meant to be a line of love-hearts. This is really awkward now.
    June 5 06:14 AM
  • Butkuiss Also, whoops, forgot to add this. "???????????????????????????????"
    June 4 11:55 AM
  • Butkuiss Saw it before you even linked it to me. Honestly my man, you're getting slow!
    June 4 11:14 AM
  • Butkuiss Whoa, changed the project name again Mr Puzzles, have we!?
    May 22 01:07 PM
  • Vooligan Hasn't been announced yet, but it'll happen soon. Word is at the Rock the Bay gig in Melbourne earlier in the year, him and Kim had a massive fight (punches etc etc), along with a whole heap of other stuff going on. Long story short, he quit the band and didnt go to America with them. They had their guitar tech playing for them over there.
    May 3 03:10 PM
  • Vooligan I love it. Not much variation from their old stuff though, stacks of delay and a bit of synths. I'm more interested in seeing what they come up with now that Rob's left the band though.
    May 2 10:03 AM
  • foxxxy i dont see pinkerton rated on yr profile and i know youre probably hesitant because it's weezer but seriously man if you haven't gotten it, get to getting it
    April 27 07:39 AM
  • Butkuiss Playing Duality and the republic in my rolling.fm room for my mates (like turntable.fm, but international). This s***'s going off. Thought you should know. :P
    March 5 09:32 AM
  • VicariousIntent I did dig it! I'm gonna give it one more listen before I rate but I was definitely glad I stumbled upon that review. Very cool stuff man
    February 25 09:07 PM
  • Vooligan Also, did you hear?? TBE have big news coming early this week!!! Hoping for new single/album haha
    February 4 01:53 PM
  • Vooligan Downloading now! Will be interested to hear it!
    February 4 01:51 PM
  • omnipanzer I noticed you did some editing as well.
    January 30 01:48 PM
  • InFiction I'm like Butkuiss, I also loved Delusion Twin. This however, sounds massive. New production really helps your sound. Nice work!
    January 29 10:16 PM
  • omnipanzer yah, no problem bro It sounds good. I'll give it a better listen on Monday, I needed something new. :-)
    January 29 03:50 PM
  • Butkuiss Ha, don't worry. I totally understand. I'll have to find the old copy of the review on my other comp, so it won't be up immediately. Sorry dude! If you need anything don't be afraid to give me a buzz.
    January 29 03:37 AM
  • Butkuiss Loving the new mix, man. Much more powerful. Hanging on for the debut with the eclectic s*** you promised too. Keep up the good work! m/
    January 27 04:18 AM
  • Butkuiss Dang, a name change!? I was digging Delusion Twin! Checking it out now, can't wait. I'll definitely tell you how it is! So excited man!
    January 25 11:34 PM
  • Vooligan That and TBE unoficcially break up and then reform every second week. Plus, TNIR are terrible.
    January 21 02:02 PM
  • Vooligan haha nice! Should have told him to hurry up with the new TBE album!
    January 21 07:35 AM
  • Butkuiss Holy s*** dude. Can't wait. Make sure you let me know as soon as it's available for general consumption. And I'm still waiting on this eclectic new stuff you're teasing me with too!Yeah, very Periphery-ish, but to be expected, seeing as 1/3 of the band (1/4 now that the vocalists have left) were in Fellsilent before they disbanded.
    January 6 07:02 AM
  • Butkuiss http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDpXqei_VNAAn unreleased music video Monuments filmed before they kicked their vocalists out. *Someone* leaked it onto the web.Just cause talking Monuments in a DLC thread makes no sense. ;)
    January 6 05:42 AM
  • Butkuiss You made my end of year list! Congratulations bitch!
    December 18 12:46 PM
  • Vooligan Sounded excellent. Few people in the room weren't happy with the way Zeke was bagging the police. One guy yelled out 'You're the worst band i've ever seen,' Then Zeke goes 'We are Over Reactor and we dont give a ****'. Hilarious. They're going to try do the whole thing live next year, without the laptop. Instead they're just gunna have a heap of samples and stuff. Should be awesome!
    November 3 02:14 PM
  • Vooligan s*** was crazy. Zeke smashed up a TV, glass went everywhere. Half the room hated them, hilarious heckling, plenty of **** the police stuff. Just your typical over reactor show haha.
    October 29 03:23 AM
  • Vooligan They did the same thing in Victoria as well, new licences are weird as haha
    October 28 12:26 AM
  • Vooligan Seeing Over Reactor tomorrow night with Floating Me. Shall you on their latest antics :P
    October 27 02:35 PM
  • Butkuiss It's always great to have someone enjoy my writing, so thanks! But seriously, Music
    October 13 10:12 AM
  • Puzzles Thanks man, it would be my pleasure! I certainly mean it when I say that was a great review - flawlessly structured, appropriately detailed and consistently interesting (even though it's of my record haha). I'm reading your new one now, let you know what I think!
    October 13 09:25 AM
  • Butkuiss Since you enjoyed my last review, thought I'd whore out my latest to get your opinion. Trying something new! ;) http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/46057/The-Jezabels-Prisoner/
    October 13 07:44 AM
  • Butkuiss I do what I can! :] I'll more than gladly review your next release too if you want! Hopefully it's getting a bit more exposure thanks to the review. Whoring it out as we speak!
    October 12 08:03 AM
  • Butkuiss Fine. But only for you!
    October 12 05:13 AM
  • Butkuiss Up for your viewing pleasure! http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/46026/Delusion-Twin-A-Damaged-Machine/#lastpost
    October 11 11:26 AM
  • Butkuiss Your requests have been noted! Ha, sorry for the review's lateness. I've been grabbed by the balls this past week trying to find employment and such, so it's not quite done yet! Hope I haven't turned you against me yet!
    October 11 08:55 AM
  • Butkuiss Just thought I'd let you know that the review is currently underway!
    September 30 10:06 AM
  • InFiction Yeah, no problem man.
    September 23 09:10 AM
  • Butkuiss Yeah, don't much care for Bondi or Cronulla myself. Too crowded, too many people, and nothing overly interesting around either. I much prefer obscure towns. I'm such a hipster. My cousin moved to Melb a few months ago! Hopefully I'll be driving down and hanging next year. The music scene there is awesome.
    September 23 08:25 AM
  • Leatherneck woah well if you want me to be honest i was a little harsh, but i guess it has a lot to do with the production, but if i leave that aside, it's just i don't find the riffs and vocal melodies incredibly original or groundbreaking- anyways i encourage you to keep doing music, you seem very passionate about it
    September 21 03:36 PM
  • omnipanzer BTW, great name and title imo.
    September 21 02:21 PM
  • Butkuiss Whoops, my wording must've been a bit out there. But what the hell! Yeah, country towns don't really seem to be in line with my rockin', rollin' and weirdin' way of life either, but they're nice for quiet and solitude every once and a while. Never been to Brissie myself; the furthest north I've ever been is the gold coast. How cliche. But from what I've heard it's wonderful up there. It'd beat Western Sydney at any rate.
    September 19 12:51 PM
  • Butkuiss In reality South West Rocks has three beaches, but two of them are fairly quiet. The one around the back is really rough, but the swell doesn't get very high often, so it's more for fishing than surfing. It's really a nice peaceful place, except for when the tourists start arriving. But even then, you can't complain much. A Moree man, eh!? Can't say I've ever spent any great amount of time there, but still, awesome!
    September 19 10:45 AM
  • Butkuiss Yeah, they're always s***ty. I'm from NSW myself, so I'm headed to a little country town called South West Rocks. It's near Kempsey in northern NSW. My family actually comes from up there; relatives own a huge farm near there and stuff, so it's kind of a tradition. Great atmosphere and scenery up there too. Not as crowded as Byron. And I'll try and get to it for ya!
    September 19 10:11 AM
  • InFiction I will definitely do that. Considering you've done it all by yourself it's something you should really be proud of.
    September 19 09:47 AM
  • InFiction Dude, your EP is really ****ing good.
    September 19 08:34 AM
  • Butkuiss I'd definitely love to review it! I might not be able to get it done for a week or two; got a five-exam block in the next three days, then out of range of the internet for a week, but I'll definitely give it a shot! It's a beautiful work, by the way. You should be proud.
    September 19 06:59 AM
  • Vooligan Can't wait to hear it, man :)
    September 19 01:30 AM
  • omnipanzer ;^P
    September 16 07:42 PM
  • omnipanzer http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=81511
    September 16 07:42 PM
  • Butkuiss Anytime! Always happy to critique or give opinions. All I can say is that I wish I could make music as good as yours!
    September 16 12:18 PM
  • Butkuiss Hey buddy! You remembered right; that s*** was dope! I'll be sure to check it out. Going on holidays in a week so I'll be sure to chill to it during my beach walks and s***. I'm sure I'll love it already!
    September 16 05:56 AM
  • Vooligan Sounds great man! Can hear a bit of deftones in it, amongst other things. Vocal effects sound pretty cool. Pretty impressive for a first up EP.
    September 13 12:58 PM
  • Pigwise41 Oh haha I was gonna say! That would be a cool coincidence if you were! I saw Over Reactor play in Melbourne at the start of the year and thought it woulda been cool if you were a member... So i'm guessing you're from around there?
    June 30 08:09 AM
  • Pigwise41 Dude! Are you either one of the two people in your photo????
    June 27 09:47 AM
  • DaveyBoy Who are you and what are you asking. See, I have already forgotten.
    June 21 06:23 AM
  • DaveyBoy Yeah, there is no probs emailing the general Sputnik account. They actually go into a hidden forum for us titled Review Requests. As for the type of music, Jom may be interested in something like that. Adam T also.
    June 20 12:01 PM
  • DaveyBoy Tbh Puzzles, you might be best off getting a non-staff member to review it. We try not to be seen to do favours, etc. Plus, were more likely to savage it. Just kidding. Maybe even a contributor like David or Dev can do it. Depends what kind of music too.
    June 20 10:40 AM
  • WhiteNoise Jupiter!! I wrote a song!
    June 5 11:35 AM
  • WhiteNoise Gotta love the boosh! :D
    June 5 11:29 AM
  • WhiteNoise I just looked at your favourite bands list...Good taste indeed!
    June 5 11:27 AM
  • bowlofsoup I definitely got the Deftones and Karnivool vibe, and all of the instrumentation fit well together. I have to say that the guitar work was my favorite part. It was some really cool stuff.
    May 14 05:00 AM
  • bowlofsoup I just listened to the stuff on your soundcloud. I'm a fan
    May 12 02:17 PM
  • Butkuiss Oh, thank god. Nothing's worse than saying someone's recording sounds like another band only to have them turn around and say they hate that band. Not my proudest moments. I absolutely adore Deftones, and I really need to get into more Karnivool. Tell me when you release it, I'll definitely spread the word for you. Nice to see some local acts!
    May 11 10:16 AM
  • Butkuiss Dude, just started listening to your EP; a few tracks through and I love it. Great to see some nice Aussie music surfacing nowadays. You played every instrument there, I take it? It sounds awesome. You're definitely more talented than I. As for who you sound like vocally, you're right, it does sound fairly distanced from most stuff. Maybe it's just the Aussie vibe, but I'm hearing slight influences from Karnivool and a bit of Dead Letter Circus, as well as Deftones, a pinch of Floyd, and NIN.
    May 11 09:31 AM
  • Vooligan Hey man ill get onto that Shift EP asap. Uni's bats*** crazy at the moment, but ill have a crack on the weekend when i get some spare time.
    May 10 02:19 PM
  • lancebramsay sorry try this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQSHj4rLBMU

  • henryjohnson I did nothing but ask where the rap is bro sorry
    May 9 08:35 AM
  • henryjohnson But rap man
    May 9 07:03 AM
  • henryjohnson Bro cool charts but where is the rap
    May 9 06:27 AM
  • Gnocchi Hey man, you might be able to provide some insights on my reviews, have a look at a couple for me. Cheers.
    May 6 12:21 PM
  • Stokes Yeah, what I meant is I preferred tracks 1, 4 and 5 over 2
    April 24 03:46 PM
  • Stokes Not quieter, ****. I don't know what I'm saying, I'll listen again later and then I'll tell you what I mean lmao.
    April 24 01:57 PM
  • Stokes Quieter was what I meant, yeah, although I couldn't tell you which one it is at the moment because I'm not in a position to listen to them. I think it was the third track I'm thinking of specifically, but I'm not entirely sure haha.
    April 24 01:56 PM
  • Stokes Pretty good actually, although I have to say I preferred the heavier songs over the slower ones.
    April 24 01:45 PM
  • Stokes I've no idea why but while listening I can't get the idea of Chino Moreno and Chris Cornell out of my head. I think that the quieter slightly murmured vocals remind me of Chino whilst the louder, angrier portions remind me of Chris. Probably not the best comparison, but it's how it seems in my mind, haha.
    April 24 01:13 PM
  • Stokes 4 months after we talked about it, I finally downloaded Option Paralysis. I very much enjoyed it and am glad that my tastes have evolved enough over these last few months to actually appreciate it. You're now credited with getting me into Radiohead and TDEP, haha.
    April 24 12:35 PM
  • TheStefan Consider it done. I'll see if i can squeeze it into my schedule within the week that it drops.
    April 20 12:37 AM
  • kangaroopoo delusion twin - quality mix and yeah my kind of music, keep it up and go for it.
    December 23 12:51 PM
  • Dryden yes a dryden shout
    December 23 09:33 AM
  • Dryden u rule bro
    December 23 09:21 AM
  • RosaParks He's cute.
    December 22 07:10 PM
  • RosaParks Aren't you?
    December 21 07:57 PM
  • Emim lol, yeah I'm sure
    December 21 04:36 PM
  • Jim nah i like it, and a little more than the first, but it still runs a pretty straight-forward line throughout its entirety, although it does get more interesting toward the end. i'd love it if zeke infused a little more melody or something in his vocals as the constantly syncopated rapping thing gets a little tiring or something. anyway it's good.
    December 21 09:59 AM
  • Emim It's like LSD without the terrors afterward!
    December 21 07:24 AM
  • AtavanHalen The best. Now, get to bed - Prime Possum says you have to.
    December 20 09:02 AM
  • AtavanHalen What can I say? I'm the best drums since Nirvana.
    December 20 08:58 AM
  • AtavanHalen It's my responsibility to speak the truth.
    December 20 08:40 AM
  • Stokes I quite liked Gold Teeth on a Bum. Crystal Morning is a good song too, so that's 3 out of 10 songs down, haha.
    December 17 01:52 PM
  • Stokes The brilliance of Radiohead finally hit me me this week, I've been listening to Ok Computer constantly for the past few days. I've gotta' be careful I don't burn myself out though. I can also say that I like "Farewell, Mona Lisa" too, but it's still only a like and not a love.
    December 17 12:40 AM
  • pizzamachine Cool, I'll look.
    December 16 04:56 PM
  • Vooligan Really liked it dude. Definitely a really solid release. Objectively i'd probs give it a 4, mainly cos im a sucker for that style of music. Can really hear some Over-Reactor in the guitars, btw. I could probs review it properly if you like. Seriously good music though. Let me know when i can download the whole thing :)
    December 16 11:51 AM
  • Jim cool man. a lot of creativity in these tracks, and nice and heavy too. good luck getting this stuff out there and let me know once it's available for download.
    December 16 06:09 AM
  • TheStefan I listened to it twice and if i were to give it an honest rating on Sputnik, I would probably say either 3.5 or 4. Probably leaning to 4. That is a genuine compliment seeing as how it takes a hell of a lot to even break into my category. The best tracks were Heretic and Dark Complexion imo. Keep writing. It's really kickass and I'm looking forward to seeing what you put out in the future. If you ever put it into this database, I'll do a review on it.
    December 16 12:05 AM
  • TheStefan streaming*
    December 15 10:53 PM
  • TheStefan absolutely. I'm downloading it now and looking forward to the listen
    December 15 10:51 PM
  • Stokes And now I've just realised you recced Around the Fur and not Diamond Eyes. FML. I need to learn to read.
    December 5 04:28 PM
  • Stokes Well, I listened through Diamond Eyes and... Musically, I could dig it, but there's something about the way Chino's vocals sound dreamlike and detached from the instruments that I can't quite get my head around yet. I did enjoy Beauty Sleep and Rocket Skates though.
    December 5 04:23 PM
  • Stokes I heard Back to School when I was younger and hated it, then I found this site, saw the reviews and thought "These guys are actually good?" but never really followed it up. Anyway, I'll get round to listening to your recs tomorrow, well some of them, but for now I need sleep. Good night.
    December 5 08:06 AM
  • Stokes Well, if I'm being honest with you I'm basing that whole opinion off of Back To School, which I detest. I'll go on with an open mind though and maybe things'll be different. Need to stop being so judgemental haha.
    December 5 07:51 AM
  • Stokes Thanks, I'll get round to listening to them soon. Never really been interested in Deftones though.
