 | keyserfunk thanks. rush concert was awesome, as expected.
 | keyserfunk awesome/timely question. just saw them play the whole album live and it was sick. I would say my top favorites are Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Red Barchetta, and Vital Signs. But YYZ and Witchhunt are great tunes also. Not so big on Camera Eye. Just a fantastic album.
 | keyserfunk and again, I hate to beat a dead horse so to speak, but the I think you should check out new music from allegaeon and decrepit birth. really great progressive/technical death metal.
 | keyserfunk I am also really psyched for The Sorrow's new album coming out on Friday, at least in Europe. Really heavy metalcore band out of Austria. First two albums are AWESOME.
 | keyserfunk I haven't gotten/heard the new one yet, but I will highly recommend "armamentarium" and "let the tempest come." Both are vital releases of heavy metal -- not really sure what sub genre you name it but it clearly has some death.
 | keyserfunk i think the kid is a complete self-obsessed tool. pulling drags off his cig while acting like an f'ing philosopher...? "...you know nothing at all..." anyway, i could only make it half way through his lame diatribe. i have no idea what this djent phrase he is trying to coin is, but periphery is basically a technical/progressive metal band. i gave pissing razors a listen and there is really nothing special there at all. maybe was bad ass in the late 80s, but pretty ordinary now.
 | keyserfunk and am really really excited about the new album from these guys. they really kick some serious metal ass. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/39859/Neaera-Forging-The-Eclipse/
 | keyserfunk hey, just came across these guys today when surfing metal website. sounds pretty awesome. what do think? http://www.myspace.com/denialmachine/music/songs/worms-of-the-earth-61269359
 | keyserfunk no f'ing idea what that is. i wouldn't be too pleased with a pantera rip off. i was a big fan of vulgar display and far beyond driven. after that i got bored. also never was too big on "southern" metal. to each his own.
 | keyserfunk yeah, unfortunately most bands do. an album without at least a little filler/crap is extremely rare. Always has been.
 | keyserfunk cool. looking for something fresh to get into. btw, new all that remains is really good. heavier than their previous albums.
 | keyserfunk there is some really great new death metal that reminds me of death (obviously not as good) out right now also. i highly recommend new albums from arsis, allaegeon, and decrepit birth
 | keyserfunk you like napalm death or any other of the so-called deathcore/grindcore, whatever (hate the labels they give this s***) bands. i think some of napalm death's stuff is awesome. as far as "metalcore" goes, there are so so many mediocre or bad bands ripping each other off, but there are some real gems out there. i love as i lay dying, all that remains, august burns red, unearth, the sorrow, parkway drive to name a few.
 | keyserfunk no idea about possessed. never listened to them. good?
 | keyserfunk Ditto. Good choice. What other death metal bands are you into besides death and morbid angel? You like metalcore?
 | keyserfunk interesting. symbolic is not exactly a non-poser album either. i've never been a huge fan of morbid angel. i picked up covenant in the early 90s, but it never did anything for me. i like a bit more technicality, accessibility in my metal. not into it for the sheer brutality.
 | keyserfunk name your all-time favorite "gun-to-your-head" heavy metal album. I already told you mine is Symbolic.
 | keyserfunk right. quite touring and produce an album!
 | keyserfunk i think it is an awesome album overall. loved the direction the band took with heartwork and swansong back to back. that death/thrash mix was way ahead of its time. lots of metal fans didn't seem to embrace it. not sure why, but their loss! would love for them to come back for another release.
 | keyserfunk absolutely. i got into that album shortly after i heard individual thought patterns. really loved how it blended styles to make it brutal yet accessible.
 | keyserfunk nice call. never noticed the similarity there.
 | keyserfunk i love without judgment more than crystal mountain, but that track is sick also. BTW, the instrumental Voice of the Soul on TSOP sends chills down my spine, especially when the electric makes its presence known. Listen to it all the time
 | keyserfunk Symbolic in my opinion is possibly the greatest heavy metal album ever produced. It has it all and then some. What a trip.
 | keyserfunk new exodus album? all exodus? never really got into their stuff during the heyday. Always more of a metallica/megadeth/slayer guy. but exhibit b kicks ass. might go check out the back catalog some more at some point. new allegaeon is ****ing awesome, if you like tech-melo-death. nice new picture -- human is great s***.
 | ProdigalSon16 I think Paranoid Android is officially the s***tiest song i have ever listened too.
 | keyserfunk sorry man. still haven't gotten to it. really hooked on decrepit birth, death angel, and exodus right now. Glad you reminded me though. I need a change of pace. Have something for you in a week or so.
 | keyserfunk i did buy the final frontier but have not given it a good few runs in my ipod -- too early to make a decision. i will say i am not a big fan of the first single and video but am looking forward to marinating in it. Yes, i primarily love the old stuff, but i was pleasantly surprised by Brave New World and a few tracks on A Matter of Life and Death...
 | keyserfunk right on. let me know if you are looking for more suggestions. i live for this s***.
 | combustion07 Never enough Death man! If my ipod plays would all show up it would probably be a little over 3000.
 | keyserfunk did you check out any of my other recommendations?
 | keyserfunk depends on what you like. kind of a cross between melodic death and metalcore. i know, strange. their last few albums have given them the "sell out" criticism from many, because they became more accessible and less deathy. i hated their last release ("sworn to a great divide"), but love the albums before it (particularly the much-maligned "stabbing the drama") and their latest work. panic broadcast is really strong throughout, but especially in the second half.
 | keyserfunk Oh yeah, and don't sleep on Byzantine. They broke up after their last release, Oblivion Beckons, which sucks. That albums and the previous release "They Shall Take Up Serpents" are simply awesome. I sh#$ you not.
 | combustion07 Yeah, most people here don't dig Scream Bloody Gore but I love it
 | combustion07 Got to go with Symbolic on that one. What about you?
 | Yeahtoast I love Benzin, it's one of my favourites by them! And the video is awesome too. Have you checked out Volkerball man?
 | Yeahtoast http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=436226My list of their albums ranked which I stand by 100% ^_^I think Mutter is definitely their best.
 | combustion07 Hell yeah man, they are only the best band to ever exist!!!
 | keyserfunk Sure, lots. Check out death/thrash outfit Anterior. Some of the sickest guitar work out there -- both rhythm and dual, trading-off leads. Not into anything remotely resembling "core?" Despite what all the critics say, there are some really great bands out there playing that style. Let me know if interested.
 | keyserfunk And don't sleep on new Arsis either. Put aside all the naysayers, I would bet you'd dig it.
 | FadeToBlack yeah I love it, one of my favourites on the album
 | keyserfunk Agree both those tunes are sick. Just reacquainted myself with Flesh and...Amazing how many Death songs my mind memorized over the years. did you check out R Christy's new outfit, Charred Walls of the Damned? Really good hyrbrid metal band/album.
 | keyserfunk Yes sir. Death is my all-time favorite metal band and Symbolic is my favorite metal album of all time. Chuck was the master death metal songwriter and musician.
