  • Flugmorph Your arguments on how they are a bad band are ridiculous. Some people on here including you shouldn't even have opinions especially when you guys act like assholes about it. Ironically BSC are doing excellent on tour and are gaining mad respect and recognition from famous vocalists like Corey Taylor. Get reckt bitch.

  • kascetcadettt here's a thread where you can discuss how fantastic it is to be a part of this moment: \\\ don't be scared to share the news with other guys in case i missed someone out and keep shining in the light of this beautiful rock n roll fireplate, god bless, hasanmedia represent
    April 19 07:21 AM

    April 19 07:21 AM
  • Crysis Busy as hell dude, hence why I'm not around here that much. Got promoted at work, am now in charge of supervising like 10 people so that sucks my time away. Basically, life happened hahaha. I assume things are well with you?
    January 20 04:59 PM
  • Atari I know Jom put both our names down for Saor but you're more than welcome to cover it man. I'll just be a backup in case you don't have the time
    December 17 11:46 PM
  • NocteDominum Hey man, super long tim no chat what's new my friend
    May 29 09:43 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I am a pretty big Bayern fan. I was really excited for this season considering how well Coman and Costa settled into the team. But now Boateng is seriously injured and I just don't know anymore. He really is the glue that keeps the entire team together and I don't think enough people realize that. Not to mention we have to play ****ing Juve in the Round of 16. I'm scared that Morata is going to pull out some big game bulls*** like he always does and knock us out of the CL.
    February 1 01:36 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa An Arsenal fan eh? I'm definitely not a fan of them. I'm not a particular fan of any of the English teams. That being said I am dying to see how things play out with Leicester this season. Also, how can you hate Ozil??? He's having his best season with Arsenal right now! I think Wenger is a legend and I hope that he can bring home a title or two before he retires.
    February 1 01:34 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Good luck with University round 2! Haha I am glad you feel that way. At school I felt like I was constantly surrounded by arrogant ****s who thought they were hot s*** and all of their opinions were intensely important and superior to everyone else's. I have always hated school. But hell I am 3/4 of the way through so I guess I'll ****ing finish. I am so looking forward to being done and never going back.
    February 1 01:33 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa So how come you didn't want to commit to a 'traditional' relationship with her? Just didn't want to end up getting tied down and regretting it later?
    February 1 01:30 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Man I really wish there was an easier way to talk, these character limits are ****ing killing me
    January 31 12:14 AM
  • ZippaThaRippa I don't know if you've heard it, but the collaboration album between The Lion's Daughter and Indian Blanket is ****ing FIRE. You should check it out.
    January 24 09:36 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I am dying to go back to Finland/Estonia just so that I can make some happy memories this time. I feel like a lot of my experience was wasted on depression and angst.
    January 24 09:35 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I went to Finland right before my 18th birthday. Around that time my relationship with my ex-girlfriend (Who I had been seeing for over two years) was pretty much falling apart. I was brutally depressed and I didn't really enjoy much of anything. On top of that the weather was ****ing horrible the entire time which contributed to my mood. Despite all that I was blown away by how beautiful and serene that it could be at times. I had felt the same way when I had visited Norway a year or two before
    January 24 09:35 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Haha, the university struggle. It's hard to keep sober in college. I was drinking 5 a night all through my junior year and that was just to get through the day. Weekends were something else. I'm surprised I was able to let all of those habits go as soon as I moved back home. I never got to try any Estonian beer since I was only there for such a short time so maybe you could show me what's good
    January 24 09:33 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Cutting back on beer is maybe something that I should do. I am pretty heavily into it. I am not a hard drinker, I rarely have more than two beers a night but I do buy a lot of expensive stuff and it cuts into my finances somewhat. Some of the beers I get are 10-13 dollars for 12 ounces. Oh s*** you're a soccer fan???? WHO DO YOU FOLLOW?
    January 24 09:31 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa My girlfriend is dying to go to Portugal! She is Chilean so she has also been interested in learning Portuguese since the Brazilians are kind of like the cool kids of South America. We were planning to go to Portugal/Spain the first chance we got. Money is very limited but we're still young so we're going to try!
    January 24 09:30 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I don't know when the next time I'll get back to Europe is but hopefully someday in the not too distant future. Number one on my list right now is Iceland. I have never been but it just looks so god damn beautiful. It also helps that it's in the ocean away from everything. I like that kind of isolation.
    January 23 10:34 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Haha I know that Karjala isn't very highly regarded but I am overwhelmed with nostalgia for some really s***ty Finnish beer. It's not even that Finnish beer is very good I just didn't get to appreciate much of Finland while I was there and the beer is one of the things that I remember the most (of course)
    January 23 10:33 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa It's not that I really mind Geology it's just that I think I enjoy learning about beer more as a whole. That being said what I would really like to do is get paid to write stupid stories for the rest of my life. That is the ultimate, unrealistic dream.
    January 23 10:32 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I have to say though, for all of the amazing beer there is here in Colorado I would literally die if I could get my hands on a case of Karhu III. Or even some Karjala.
    January 19 10:06 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Speaking of which, there is a brewery in downtown Denver called TRVE Brewing which is a black metal themed brewery. They have beers called Black Cascade, Crimson Death and Tunnel of Trees. I haven't been yet but I am going on Friday.
    January 19 10:05 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I am a Geology major and I only need one more year to finish and graduate. The only problem is that I am a lot more interested in learning how to brew and maybe working at a brewery full time. There are so many to choose from in Colorado it's unreal. I am worried that I won't make enough money to make it worthwhile though
    January 19 10:04 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Similar story. I am taking a year off of school to earn enough money to pay for all of my classes. During my last semester at school I gained quite a bit of weight. Went from 150 pounds to 172. Got back to Colorado and immediately started working at an enormous liquor store. Went from being a piece of s*** couch potato to working 40 hours a week in a freezer hauling 40 pound boxes all day. I am back down to 150 pounds and I am in the best shape of my life.
    January 19 10:03 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I'm doing well, I live in Colorado now. Got a decent job and a long term girlfriend that I love. Still have terrible music taste. Are you still in Tallinn?
    January 17 11:09 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa I miss you.
    January 16 09:48 PM
  • Crysis welp nevermind thread is gone
    December 2 05:24 PM
  • Crysis Alright I'll add some. I honestly have been out of touch with music this year so it was hard to come up with 10 that I truly thought to be the best.
    December 2 05:23 PM
  • Jom Welp, that blows. Thanks for letting me know. I'll have the head honcho look into it since we'd rather it work than not when it comes time for the year-end festivities.
    December 2 08:34 AM
  • Essence And yeah man, it's always the first step that is the hardest. And remember that discipline is always more important than motivation - motivation is just what you want to do, discipline is what you make yourself do. People try to get buff on motivation and it always falls apart, because they have no discipline. Same thing everywhere else. I miss Finland (and Estonia), I really want to go back, possible live there, someday.
    November 5 11:53 AM
  • Essence I miss my college days, but I think everyone does. I had kind of an unorthodox college experience as far as living quarters goes, which kind of sucks, but it is what it is. I bet after awhile of just constantly jamming new music, silent must be pretty peaceful and relaxing. It takes a lot out of you to absorb new musical ideas all the time, ya know?
    November 5 11:51 AM
  • Essence Yeah I feel you there man, college is a solid split between being useful for your career but also solidly growing as a person and exercising your social muscles. There's definitely a certain charm to the idea of job hopping into oblivion, definitely can see the value in it.
    November 5 11:50 AM
  • Essence What type of license are you getting? Are you still planning on studying in Finland? Myself, I've mostly just become a 'lame' adult with responsibilities and bills and s***, but such is life hahaha It's actually not bad, it's nice to have some consistency
    October 12 09:54 AM
  • Essence Metalness for me really is just seasonal. Hell I've barely listened to much of it for the past few years or so but I've been getting back into it a lot now that I have a lot more time to listen to music while I am working. I do full time work at a consulting company as an IT admin so I'm afforded the luxury of using headphones if I want to (which I do)
    October 12 09:53 AM
  • Essence Yeah I feel you, I've been poking around this site more since I haven't really been able to talk about music with people much. Feels like the same old place, a lot of children and dumb meme-y jokes that get old as soon as they begin. I'm a bit envious.
    October 12 09:52 AM
  • Essence Hey man, where you been? Don't see you around these parts much anymore
    October 8 04:21 PM
  • ComeToDaddy I'd be stoked, my exam period ends on November 27 so I'll be able to give it my full attention and a quality review by the time it comes out. Also on an unrelated note, good to see you reccing that Wolfheart, I had half a review written for it but just never got time to finish off, it's a killer. Any recent recs you've got floating around?
    September 16 09:39 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges yeah man. any recent digs?
    September 7 10:06 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges i feel that. in fact, that's part of why i had a three-month long hiatus from the site over the summer.
    September 6 08:12 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges glad to hear it, man. you've been one of the few staffers to keep the blog alive besides dev, so i'm not complaining, haha.
    September 6 05:37 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges things have been alright on my end. y u no review, though???
    September 6 05:27 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges does mag the mighty still live?
    September 5 11:32 PM
  • NocteDominum New Dagoba?
    June 19 09:19 AM
  • ResidentNihilist I ask because I think it maybe up your street.
    May 8 09:17 AM
  • ResidentNihilist Firstly wanted to say congrats on the great Mechina interview. Secondly have you ever listened to Neurotech?
    May 8 09:17 AM
  • manosg Hey Magnus, thanks! I appreciate your help and I definitely intend to keep up.
    April 13 06:18 AM
  • insomniac15 Hey man, thanks for mentioning that. I added another song from the new album at the end of the interview. Also, thanks for the Anti Records contact mail, unfortunately no one bothered to answer me anything yet.
    March 31 02:21 PM
  • Jom Hmm, that's quite the dilemma. If the artist gave you the all-clear to use the unofficial one, then we're covered. We can't assume that he's cool with the unofficial one - even if he had posted so at one point speaking in generalities that it's okay to share his music wherever - but if we do post the unofficial one and conflict arises, we can pull it within 24 hours of the complaint.
    March 30 07:09 PM
  • Atari thanks again for your feedback and support, you're the man
    March 26 06:53 PM
  • Atari i actually went ahead and posted the review on my lunch break. if there's anything you think i should add or chagne just let me know, i hope you like it
    March 26 03:33 PM
  • Atari posted a rough draft of my galar review in the contributor proofreaing thread. would love some input if you have time. It's kind of short, but hopefully it's turning out ok
    March 26 02:10 PM
  • Atari Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate it. As much as I would love to review it I gotta see if I can actually put what I want to say into the right words haha. Cheers
    March 25 08:15 PM
  • Atari no worries, i'm happy either way as long as it gets a review :]
    March 24 11:49 AM
  • Atari if you get to a point where you don't think you'll have time to review Galar let me know...I might be able to come up with something. Otherwise it's all yours man!
    March 23 12:22 PM
  • Atari it seems we're pretty much the only ones digging that Gala album at this point haha. Maybe once you review it more people will jump on the hype train ;) It's my favorite metal album I've heard so far in 2015!
    March 20 11:57 AM
  • manosg Hey Magnus, thanks for your input on the Janis Joplin thread. I really appreciate it.
    February 24 02:53 AM
  • Wizard I blow more smoke out of my ass than anything else when I say I may put down the keyboard on this site. I already have something written up for Sumac's debut and it may turn into something this week. Thank you for the words of encouragement : ).
    February 22 09:25 AM
  • Wizard Most people don't like change so it's going to affect everyone negatively. It's inevitable and if you think life has it's moments now, just you wait hahahaha. Life in general has kept me away from reviewing and I'm almost at the point of retiring this site but something always tells me to keep going. I will poo out a review again soon.
    February 19 09:11 PM
  • Wizard I've been through the ringer with a newborn and my wife enduring two surgeries within two months and lost my job at my family greenhouse (closed doors at Christmas) only to be hired on with the other greenhouse competition down the street hahaha. But you need to take all of these moments in life and refocus them into something new and exciting because I think people generally confuse change with hardship or "tough times".
    February 19 09:09 PM
  • Wizard Things are great but busy with family and work. The folky parts are jarring for sure and it seems to me like they just layer it on without any cohesion (kind of like spitting on something to make it stick instead of using glue). How's Magnus holding up these days?
    February 17 07:01 PM
  • Thanntos Hey man, sorry I never got back to you about that post-rock stuff! Been super busy, I'll give you a rain check! In the meantime, I finally got my 2014 list out...I know, super late, but it would be awesome if you'd check it out!
    February 16 04:19 PM
  • Voivod You are absolutely right about concert saturation, I have experienced it too. As for why a band's concert may not be as strong as previous ones, I forgot to write that it may not be the band's fault after all.
    February 16 01:50 AM
  • Voivod I hear you man :). For unknown reasons, some concerts of a band are not as strong as previous ones.
    February 14 11:33 PM
  • Voivod Have a great time man, and I need to check Solstafir myself.
    February 11 08:21 AM
  • Gyromania hey man! how the hell have you been?
    February 10 10:45 PM
  • Voivod Magnus this is right up your alley (melodic death/doom metal from Sweden/Colombia) -
    February 10 03:32 AM
  • Cool, I'll provide for sure !
    November 10 10:00 AM
  • I'll add that we are working on a new album with way better production (still homemade), we have sample of it but no clear release date. I could give you the link when it come out if you are interested !
    November 10 05:09 AM
  • Hi Metalstyles ! I've saw (just now...) the review you've done for Weakened one year ago, I'm from the band (bass) and I would thank you for the free work ! Actually I'm amazed that someone reviewed such a small regional band... I agree with most of what you wrote : the guitar prod is bad, for the story it was recorded at home with a 50 euro line 6 recorder, so it's pretty weak (no pun intended) and the bass line is inexistant (it was recorded but with no proper equipment).
    November 10 05:05 AM
  • greg84 Check out Satchel then, all 3 albums.
    October 6 02:37 PM
  • greg84 I don't know what you're exactly looking for, but check out Man's Gin. This is the project of Erik Wunder of Cobalt fame. I've reviewed both albums of theirs. This stuff is rad. It makes me think of mellow Alice In Chains, especially their first LP.
    October 6 01:59 PM
  • Viraemia Hey, your Eluveitie review is great! I thought you might be interested to review the new Crimson Shadows album?
    October 5 10:53 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Time To Die was so good that I put it on my list twice, lol.
    September 29 06:33 PM
  • Jom Thanks, brother dude. Working on it now. Appreciate it!
    September 29 01:39 PM
  • Jom Not a worry, I appreciate the heads-up. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail at jom.sputnikmusic at googlemail dot com. Cheers!
    September 28 08:53 PM
  • Voivod Magnus, the new Helevorn album is in the vein of Saturnus, Draconian, and Slumber, I think you will like it -
    September 25 04:47 PM
  • Willie The album you requested is posted. Its the bottom one on the first page.
    September 24 05:46 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Sweet. I'm probably gonna post a review for it in a few days.
    September 23 07:37 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Definitely. They're way better than, say, Korpiklaani. Also, NEW ELECTRIC WIZARD ALBUM STREAM OMG
    September 23 04:07 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Holy ****, the new Eluveitie album is great.
    September 22 05:57 PM
  • NocteDominum I'll throw detail across Facebook (less prying eyes)
    September 15 06:15 PM
  • Voivod True, not all Red Harvest albums are aggressive, but Sic Transit Gloria Mundi was one hell of am aggressive industrial metal album.
    September 15 12:02 PM
  • Voivod I play it once a day since I discovered it, and these guys are similar to Red Harvest which I totally dig.
    September 15 10:15 AM
  • NocteDominum Did you want to interview Chrigel from Eluveitie?
    September 14 06:01 PM
  • Voivod Magnus, you really need to check this EP out like whenever, killer industrial metal -
    September 12 01:04 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges YEEEEEEEEEEE
    September 11 07:21 PM
  • ScuroFantasma sweet! I'm glad you dig it.
    September 8 05:45 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Sounds sweet. Looking forward to it!
    September 5 09:59 PM
  • Voivod Magnus, this demo album is right up your alley, great death/doom metal from Austin, TX -
    September 5 08:29 AM
  • ScuroFantasma ah okay, hope you like it.
    September 3 05:52 PM
  • ScuroFantasma Hey man, did you end up checking Green Novice out?
    September 3 02:50 AM
  • Thanntos Btw about your request for recs last week, did you want some like soaring post-rock/metal albums and like classical interludes?
    September 2 10:37 PM
  • Thanntos Hahah, yea that sounds kind of boring to be honest. I love Arch and art/history and everything like that so can't wait to be done with it all. Though even at 27 I have quite a bit of ways to go. I'm kind of sad I haven't been keeping up on my blog/lists on RYM, need to get back on that but I've been super busy this summer!
    August 26 08:02 PM
  • Thanntos Studying to be an Architect so trying to get in some vacation before classes start again :)
    August 26 05:54 PM
  • Thanntos Hey sorry man I've been on vacation, Ill try to get some recs for you soon :)
    August 25 10:59 PM
  • Thanntos Hey sorry man I've been on vacation, Ill try to get some recs for you soon :)
    August 25 10:58 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I'm not quite sure yet. I've really been digging Owl John's s/t recently.
    August 6 07:15 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Thanks, friend.
    August 6 05:41 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Well, I sent you a friend request a while back, so if anything, please don't pull a Necro and not use it for 6 months.
    August 6 01:39 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Fair enough. I only got my lastfm a few months ago, and I mostly use Spotify to rack up plays.
    August 6 08:27 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges On another note, do you use your lastfm often?
    August 5 06:32 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Magnus the philosopher. Has a ring to it, doesn't it?
    August 5 12:06 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Dammit, you always know exactly what to say, don't you? ;)
    August 5 08:37 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges It's good that you can set goals for yourself and then do your best to live up to them. Me, I'm just a baby on the site. But I do hope to have enough reviews by February to apply for contributor.
    August 4 06:50 PM
  • Thanntos And I really love Insomnium, just have not heard the new album yet, will have to get on that!
    August 3 05:02 PM
  • Thanntos Awesome man, can't wait to hear what you think!
    August 3 04:57 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Not gonna lie, that was a pretty beautiful speech. No wonder you're staff, haha.
    August 2 09:39 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Yeah, we all need a break sometimes. I mean, you've written 125 reviews already. It's not like your contribution to the site is a minor thing. Hell, I've seen staff that have less than 50 reviews before.
    August 2 05:14 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Ditto, man. I can't remember a thing I did last summer, but I've been having a blast this year. I'm just glad to know you haven't gone Emeritus yet.
    August 2 04:21 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Ah. That's a shame. I'm sure, though, that soon, the "Metal" in Metalstyles shall return.
    August 2 01:50 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges That's great to hear! I haven't been doing much this summer, but it's been fairly enjoyable so far. I've had plenty of time to jam, which is great.
    August 2 09:33 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges I haven't seen you around in a while. How's life treating you, man?
    August 1 07:59 PM
  • Thanntos I don't rec albums much but I'm gonna go ahead and suggest you take a listen to the new album Ruiner by Griefloss. Blackgaze with classical bm vocals and some cleans. Gonna be an overlooked album
    July 30 04:02 PM
  • SowingSeason Yeah man that's admirable; lots of people have to scrape to make ends meet when they first start out on their own. I still am, 3 years later.
    July 24 01:28 PM
  • SowingSeason Well it was (and is) the only teaching job I can find. PA is a huge producer of teachers, and we're also giving some of the largest budget cuts to schools of any state in the huge influx of teachers every year plus decreasing employment slots equals me working in the McDonalds of education! : )
    July 24 08:42 AM
  • SowingSeason I teach at an alternative behavioral school for high school kids who have been expelled from the inner city. A "normal" teaching job would be far less dreadful...
    July 24 08:34 AM
  • SowingSeason Awesome man! It's always been a dream of mine to run a record store...I could rec customers all the coolest and most happening indie and folk albums. I'm glad things are looking up for ya. For me I'm great right now because I'm on summer break, but I go back to school Aug. 14 (because I'm a teacher) so my life will get crazy again. Getting married next summer so that's happening.
    July 23 03:17 PM
  • SowingSeason Yeah, I can definitely see it killing live. It's just so much fun. To each his own though, I'm just glad you were willing to give it a chance! How've you been?
    July 23 10:33 AM
  • Jom We don't have that toolbar installed in our Wordpress (only mx can install stuff), so the easiest thing might be to create it in a Word/Excel document in a 2-column format, and then save it as an image. Alternatively, you can try aligning the text left and right, but that might get awkward.
    July 7 12:50 PM
  • Crysis I'll have to dig through my library later but tbh I'm rather sparse on actual folk metal. Most of it is like viking type stuff that tilts more toward death metal
    July 3 06:11 AM
  • Crysis Yeah, I remember thinking their last record was decent.
    July 2 06:23 AM
  • Crysis Haven't heard the new Equilibrium so can't comment on that, but as for folk metal try Crimfall. Early Ensiferum is really the best of the best with folk metal so after that it goes downhill fast, but Crimfall are pretty good.
    July 1 05:24 PM
  • Jom jom.sputnikmusic at googlemail dot com, cheers!
    June 29 11:43 AM
  • Jom I can do all the editing and photo-finding if you run out of time, just let me know. Enjoy the festival!
    June 27 12:40 PM
  • Mad. OK, I'll review it if I get my hands on it and can decipher it all - 18 tracks or something! Thanks for the support!
    June 22 10:16 AM
  • Voivod Hi Magnus, I think that you will enjoy this album, melodic death/black/doom metal from New Zealand -
    June 21 10:59 AM
  • Mad. Yo, Brother Dege is releasing a new 'Mixtape' album, wondering if you were interested in reviewing it?
    June 21 06:31 AM
  • NocteDominum You've been pretty quiet on the review end of things I've noticed too, maybe we both can make a comeback? I've been pretty busy also, a bub on the way means a whole lot of shuffles priorities.
    June 20 07:12 AM
  • NocteDominum Hey dude, how's things?
    June 20 06:11 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Agreed. Yeah, it'll probably be rocky at first, but a lot of the best reviewers on the site are able to seemlessly review both electronic and death metal albums.
    June 17 08:23 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges True, true. It is good to shed light on less notable releases in the hope that the band will benefit from your review. Honestly, I had a hard time moving out of my comfort zone due to having less knowledge outside of the metal scene, but I hope that by expanding my musical boundaries, I'll be able to also review more stuff and gain a better reputation on the site.
    June 16 09:02 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges The trouble is, most of the more popular albums that I might wanna review are probably already gonna get reviewed to s*** by other users and staff, so I'm stuck reviewing more obscure stuff, which makes it harder to get more attention and recognition.
    June 16 06:07 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I like to review stuff that hasn't already been reviewed, which makes it somewhat difficult to review things on a regular basis. The fact that I have a bunch of final exams coming up doesn't make things much better, lol.
    June 16 02:25 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Interesting. I've been on a writer's block lately, so I might try my hand at reviewing some of the electronic stuff you recommended me.
    June 16 06:24 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Sweet. Random question, but are there any particular new releases that you might be reviewing soon? Just wondering.
    June 16 06:00 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges True. I could never get into stuff like Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, though.
    June 15 06:43 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges I'll keep them on my radar. I've really been trying to get into newer music genres since I joined the site, since I initially only listened to some hard rock and metal.
    June 15 10:04 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Finally got a chance to check out a couple of songs off that MiXE1 LP. Pretty neat stuff.
    June 13 07:19 PM
  • greg84 Have you ever heard Therapy? Check out Semi-Detached and High Anxiety first.
    June 6 03:42 PM
  • Crysis Fair enough, at least you gave it a proper shot. I like all of his albums pretty equally.
    May 13 05:24 PM
  • Crysis i'm a filthy casual and have yet to be graced by truly good headphones and an amp so I make do with my speakers and $50 in-ear headphones... that will change soon enough though when I get money to spare
    May 6 08:56 PM
  • Crysis I actually quite like the production, it is a fantastic way to give some contrast to the melody, as the album is extremely melodic for such a raw album.
    May 6 08:19 PM
  • Crysis I had another one before this one and it was much worse. I'm no audiophile so I can't say for sure, but to me it sounds fine, way better than the old 128kbps rip I had.
    May 6 08:11 PM
  • Crysis No problem man, didn't take much time at all. I love Finnish metal so I may hold you to that offer!
    April 29 08:16 PM
  • Crysis Give me a bit and I'll upload mine. Links for that album have been getting DMCA'd left and right (there was one I had on Ghosts of Saturn but it was taken down because of this) so good links are hard to find. When I post the link tell me as soon as you're done downloading so I can remove it.
    April 29 07:36 PM
  • Voivod If you look for "southern" albums, you can check the new Anti-Mortem album, I have posted a stream link at their page.
    April 26 11:55 AM
  • Voivod In general they are considered as heavy rock, whereas they are referenced next to Clutch, among other outfits.
    April 26 11:47 AM
  • Willie I haven't heard back.
    March 30 01:28 PM
  • Willie Thanks. Looks good!
    March 24 09:27 PM
  • Willie I need you to post your interview so that I can give Mx a link for the banner.
    March 24 05:27 PM
  • Nagrarok Haha, actually I did just make my first post in a long while. I'm good, but have simply been too occupied with other things to do much 'sputniking'. Still enjoying life as a staff member? ;)
    March 23 06:21 PM
  • Willie Let's shoot for Monday. If you need art
    March 21 07:15 PM
  • Willie Ok. I'm going to try to get Mx to post an interview banner and see if we can maybe debut another song. It's all posted to the blog and ready to publish?
    March 20 08:56 PM
  • Willie You have til at least next week. Let me coordinate a banner and see if maybe we can stream a song during the interview.
    March 19 06:29 PM
  • Willie Check the Insomnium thread as soon as possible.
    March 18 08:43 PM
  • Crysis I've experienced that as well with some bands, although bands like DT and Insomnium have been longtime favorites and I still love them as much as I used to.
    March 13 06:47 PM
  • Crysis Really glad you liked it! And I agree with what you say. What I meant by that statement is that musical elitists tend to search for these underground bands to try and be different or be that person who name drops them to others. You are one of the least elitist people I know so that may not apply to you haha
    March 13 05:13 PM
  • Hyperion1001 sounds sweet, i have to drive to my parents house today so ill grab it and jam it along the way and tell you what i think. thanks man!
    March 11 12:07 PM
  • Willie Check the promo area for an on your interview request. ASAP, please.
    March 5 09:44 AM
  • NocteDominum
    February 9 05:35 PM
  • NocteDominum Found a 320 link, I believe your writers block, about 200 words in and scrambling to voice my opinions how I want to. Having a slight language barrier but I can move past it. : ]
    February 9 03:35 AM
  • NocteDominum I'm only giving it a go because you mentioned 'aoty' It won't have that effect on me (nothing's going to top Ataraxie) but from the first track I can foresee a 3.5-4.2 rating if that makes sense.
    February 7 04:24 PM
  • NocteDominum Give some relevant links my man and I'll push it to the top of the cue
    February 7 04:09 AM
  • NocteDominum What do you have in mind my man?
    February 6 02:59 PM
  • Wizard You might like that Temple album. To me though, it's a bunch of random ideas covered in glue, tossed to the wind and watching where they will stick.
    February 4 07:56 AM
  • Wizard That album sucked the big one. And the reason I call it post-metal is that the bulk of the riffs on the album have a lot of peaks/ valleys and the overall chunky nature of the riffs too. Vocals are awesome too.
    February 3 09:08 PM
  • Wizard Hey buddy, got through Kauan's Pirut once and I enjoyed it. Needs a few more listens but it's definitely a unique take on post-metal.
    February 3 07:15 PM
  • Crysis Haha Finnish DM is amazing, best scene in the world. And if I were you I'd devote more time to Drudkh, they are quite a special band for bm.
    February 1 10:24 AM
  • BloodMusic Thanks a ton for the information! Never knew before about this, thought it was just random, will save the info for the future!
    February 1 06:24 AM
  • Crysis I just wanna listen to something like Drudkh through good headphones and an amp, that's all I want haha
    February 1 12:25 AM
  • Crysis To be honest I've never heard music through truly good headphones, so I have no idea what it sounds like. On my PC I'm listening either through speakers or a Logitech G930 headset which is for gaming, not music. Otherwise I just have s***ty earbuds for portable devices.
    February 1 12:15 AM
  • Crysis Next time I get an extra $300 or $400 I'm buying good headphones and an amp. No questions. I've held off long enough.
    February 1 12:01 AM
  • Crysis man this song rules, the clean guitar in the middle is pure bliss
    January 31 11:11 PM
  • Crysis I hear you man, I'm out of work right now so I can't afford to spend extra even on a CD or LP. I'll check that song out.
    January 31 11:04 PM
  • Crysis blame the crime on poverty haha
    January 31 10:36 PM
  • Crysis
    January 31 10:35 PM
  • DarkNoctus i could give it a shot in the next week, yeah!
    January 31 01:05 PM
  • BloodMusic Hey there! We released Kauan "Pirut" and have no idea how to get a written review on here. How do we go about doing so?
    January 31 07:51 AM
  • Tyrael I'll go through my library but I can't promise anything :P
    January 30 06:12 PM
  • Jade That's a good way to see it. With this review, I knew I had to have it posted soon so I went ahead and published it- but it's def a good idea to hold back so that better ideas come to you in terms of editing. I like having a good review posted from the get-go!
    January 29 01:07 PM
  • Jade My writing got the 'pretentious' tag from Magnus? s***, that's when I know I'm writing out of my ass!! Hahaha thanks a ton, bud. There were def some wonky bits in there, but I'm happiest with it now that I've taken your points into consideration and edited things around. Funny how writing can be so counterintuitive after so much practice with it.
    January 29 11:49 AM
  • Wizard I haven't listened to it yet but it's on my list.
    January 23 06:07 PM
  • fromtheinside we all do. but i love looking back at how bad i was
    January 21 03:00 AM
  • fromtheinside you succeeded 4 years ago
    January 21 02:41 AM
  • fromtheinside dude your life sounds identical to mine, which makes your staff position all the more admirable.
    January 21 02:29 AM
  • fromtheinside as you should we need more (new)metal
    January 21 02:18 AM
  • fromtheinside u need to plug with us sometime Mr. Staff.
    January 21 01:52 AM
  • Thanntos I had meant to check out that album last year as well just never got around to it, thanks for reminding me! I love death doom so I won't be surprised if I dig it
    January 20 12:40 PM
  • BigHans Sell Advertising. Print and Internet stuff. We have different markets so on the road alot
    January 17 02:06 PM
  • BigHans Sup Styles. Probably temporary. My job is very busy most of the year, but for the next few weeks it won't be that bad. I am usually out on the road travelling, hence why I can never post.
    January 17 12:31 PM
  • Voivod I had listened to their debut, I liked but I wasn't too excited with it, I didn't know they were releasing a new one this year, thanks again for the heads up. Also, you really seem to have an eye fixed on the Greek extreme metal scene :-)
    January 11 02:47 PM
  • Voivod Thanks for the heads up man, I will further investigate. And yes, Slave Machine are solid, I hope the stream I posted is still active.
    January 11 01:32 PM
  • ResidentNihilist Hey Styles, saw your comment yesterday thank you for that, it means a lot and if you had any hand in getting it featured again thank you dude. Wanted to ask you actually, what do you think of Zoticus?
    January 7 05:25 PM
  • Wizard Been doing great dude. Yourself? ****ing tired of winter but I would imagine you guys would have a tougher winter than us Canadians.
    December 23 05:53 PM
  • LepreCon It was good fun at first, very very hot all year round though! The kids I was teaching were also a hell of a lot more respectful than they are back home! Got really homesick though as I didn't come back except for Christmas and Easter! Was feeling it again until I came home from Japan last week
    December 23 07:51 AM
  • LepreCon Well done! :) I've been away, first in Dubai for a year teaching grade schoolers and now I'm doing a year teaching English in Japan but I'm currently back for Christmas so I thought I'd check in on Sputnik!
    December 20 01:20 PM
  • LepreCon Long time no speak, 'Styles! Congrats on making Staff in my absence! :)
    December 19 06:50 PM
  • NocteDominum Just found a three day weekend to myself, started working on some top secret sput lists : ] and getting back into the music. Look for a melodic dm band: Death Of All Gods (they have something out recently), tell me your thoughts : ]
    December 18 04:16 PM
  • NocteDominum Good ol' Greybeard, how's life been treating you : ] When are you doing your own personal end of year list : ]
    December 18 03:40 PM
  • NocteDominum Sup dude : ]
