 | Observer Been a while, hope you're well.
 | JonEthan Thanks Knott for all the reviews, hope to see you write soon-From some jerk who say "I might get this"
 | Yuli i was looking forward to being staffer with you, but then u dun vanished!
 | YoYoMancuso your Slow Riot review made me check out Godspeed. I cannot thank you enough.
 | clercqie Believe me when I say I tried hard to like it. It's difficult for me to say, but they really suck now. And why isn't it popular? Do you advertise in other places besides here, actually?
 | clercqie Just dropping by to say I recently stumbled across your ByVolume site again. I must say I absolutely looove the lay-out, really slick! Oh, but I absolutely disagree with your Bloc Party review. Anyways, cheers!
 | DaveyBoy Was always going to. Was just gonna wait until closer to release date. Hell, even their debut EP tunes sounded ok.
 | Puzzles Yo Knott, here's something for you - occupants.bandcamp.com. It's like a cross between OKC-era Radiohead, Simon and Garfunkel and Damnation-era Opeth. I believe you've heard the first EP
 | Gyromania glad to see we share the same sentiments about Gossamer
 | Mordecai. ah well just a bit of healthy criticism. seriously though, when can we start making profiles?
 | BigTuna Wanna listen to some very fun and well-arranged pop music? Yes, you do. Kishi Bashi - 151a
 | Hey man this is Alex Asch, I was in a band called The Paramedic. All of our original members after quitting started a new band called "Cinema Sleep". I was wondering if you would do a review on our new record which is available through this link for free. Thanks so much dude.http://www.frostclick.com/wp/index.php/2012/05/14/cinema-sleep-make-your-way-awesomely-loud-rock-ep-featured-on-frostwire/Alex
 | Yotimi Yeah sorry Itunes is the only place I know of
 | DaveyBoy Adam, have you seen fun live. Thinking of going to see them in July, but still a bit fifty fifty. Ive seen clips of their acoustic stuff which is great, but am just wondering if they put on a great show when playing electric.
 | Kellerdeck Thanks man. Trolls are there somewhat, too. Meh, I posted my share on the forum.
 | Kellerdeck How do you get a mod to an album that a user put up as a joke? http://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=101077 I need that albumd. It's th one called 'Give it a rest'The other one is supposed to be under LP, not live album.
 | DaveyBoy We are going up, we are going up. Here come the Saints.
 | AliW1993 Given your rather splendid taste in indie rock I'm pretty sure that you'll like this to some extent. Trying to get some kind of feeble hype-train going.

 | Willie Average 20,000 unique daily users, almost 300,000 a month. 645,000 monthly visits.
 | DaveyBoy Adam, I think u would really like 1 or both of the LPs from Fanfarlo. See my new review. Surprised you had yet to rate them actually.
 | Willie Are you going to be able to knock something out for that Wired EP?
 | klap thought you'd enjoy this: http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/44714/an-appreciation-of-fun
 | Emim lol, no worries, man. The ironic thing is that I was giving him my opinion on what constitutes "boring".
 | klap yes to sleigh bells
 | Sowing If I find anything I'll let you know =]
 | Sowing No, I'm still waiting for a link to turn up somewhere. I'm really excited.
 | Sowing Can't get enough of "We Are Young." Have you heard the rest of fun.'s newest album?
 | AliW1993 Listened to, and thoroughly enjoyed that John K Samson record. Which Weakerthans album would you say is the best to start with?
 | WatchItExplode Thanks, think I'll just give him $5 though. I imagine the album will be consistenly good if not particularly memorable.
 | BrahTheSunGod Good call! That should make your life a lot easier to have that, honestly. And no reeeason in particular, other than that I'm an architecture student and to have any hope of being able to get a job, we need to be able to design a very convincing portfolio of work. So I've picked up a little graphic design theory along the way, haha.
 | BrahTheSunGod Not in particular! The articles are good, and the graphic design was pretty good as well. There were some little design inconsistencies (check your header height/beef up your margins slightly, having a consistent grid is really helpful, and spread out the content slightly as it feels a little cramped right now), but already a massive improvement from the first issue. What are you using for the layout? InDesign?
 | BrahTheSunGod Nice work on the ByVolume mag! May I highly recommend Issuu as a (free) way of publishing it online, though - much easier to read/more elegant than the PDF approach. Just a thought!
 | StrangerofSorts I'd rather not single out any. Critisising popular people on internet forums always ending badly and all of that... anyway, giving people free reign is great, but they should keep in mind who they're writing for. I know that when I was dragged into a similar thing, I was immediately told to re-word my review because I'm too used to writing for other music reviewers, instead of the average music fan. You do what you want with it, of course. I'm just a randomer after-all. (:
 | StrangerofSorts Yeh. Was just that a few of the entries felt out of place since they were a bit too self-indulgent stylistically. It contrasted with the layout/ premise. Not bad by any means, in fact very good, but the tone surprised me.
 | dimsim3478 The issue is actually amazing all round, like the writing (loved "Review?" and "Amplified" this month) and the illustrations (particularly ?uestlove and Chris Martin) were absolutely masterful, and the general layout got some good beef-ups in comparison to the last issue. Hell, I change my mind, this rocked the first issue.
 | dimsim3478 As good as the first issue. Kudos, Knott!
 | NeutralThunder12 and s*** your soundoffs are really great, specifically the ones for For Emma and Deja Entendu. oh and plz dont rec Bright Eyes lol thanks man
 | NeutralThunder12 Sup bro, I just noticed how much we have in common when it comes to taste in indie stuff, specifically looking at some of your 5's and mine. I know you've gotta have stuff I'd like, if you wouldn't mind lemme know of a few that Im missing? thanks man
 | dimsim3478 Hey, Knott. Just wondering if you're still doing ByVolume. Really enjoyed reading the first issue. Happy holidays.
 | Gyromania Merry Christmas, Knott! =D Hope you're enjoying the holidays xx
 | AliW1993 What you make of Little Comets' new EP...?
 | iMaex Hey Knott, I enjoy reading your reviews and your take on a lot of bands I like. Would you mind reviewing my band? We're a Pop-Punk/Hardcore band from Surrey, UK called 'Amberline' and would love to hear your opinion. If you're up for the review please contact us at email.amberline@googlemail.com and we'll send you the EP.Many Thanks,- Amberline
 | Steoandnoodles Naw... that'd be cool though! =) But they have set up a new website and recently did a gig together. It looks like they might be working on new material.
 | Douglas merry christmas from australia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IglwAVcuE6c
 | Steoandnoodles Knott, what if I told you there is a possibility that Nizlopi are reforming.
 | klap hahaha good to hear. i could never get into source
 | klap bitch please. i used to run train on those damn continentals. we definitely have had this conversation before i need to install windows and get in on that. do you play source now or 1.6?
 | klap you play counterstrike?
 | RosaParks I dunno. I'm honestly exaggerating A LOT in my comments. I just feel like you used lots of words in your post, but didn't really end up saying much. I think opinions on writing are very much similar to opinions on music. I like your reviews but I guess the way you write about music (in general) just isn't for me.
 | FromDaHood Hahaha I wasn't trying to accuse you of being a douche or anything, I was just a little embarassed. Especially since you're probably the biggest fan on here.
 | FromDaHood That even more awkward moment when the lastest Adam to get staffed notices my silly soundoff. Sorry I accused you of being a less than devoted LC! fan.
 | Aids I totally forgot to say this earlier: amazing job with ByVolume man. I would have said so earlier but for some reason I couldn't load the .pdf for the longest time so I just finally got around to reading it this week. I was very impressed. I mean I was expecting it to be good but you knocked it out of the park. Great choices for contributors too (even if Eric rated Dan Mangan way too low haha). I am eagerly awaiting the November edition.
 | AliW1993 Have you heard Johnny ?Foreigner's new record yet...?
 | Phideaux Congrats on finally getting staff. Very well deserved.
 | Xenophanes Thank you very much. And also, congrats on your incredibly overdue promotion!
 | Irving You are Knott Contrib anymore.
 | Fugue 'Bout ****ing time.
 | Crysis Thanks Knott, it was unexpected.
 | MO Congrats on the promotion man.
 | Sanders Congrats pal, well-deserved :)
 | Axel Jared stopping by, congrats man. Two years late, I'd say. Sorry I haven't been able to contribute to your online mag, by the way. My time has been taken up as my personal life has taken a nose dive... if I can get things cleaned up I hope to at least write some under this name. I look forward to reading from you.
 | Deviant. Well it's about time Strikey! Congrats man
 | Sowing Now we can rule Sputnik together?
 | luci About time :) .
 | Yotimi Singer/guitarist and Drummer from Park are back together in a new band: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tiger-Tank/303594726334132
 | theacademy joking aside, you put together a quality read... u should be proud
 | DaveyBoy Is this a webmag or something that you are writing for. Can't download right now, hence why I'm asking.
 | theacademy looks sweet but would you rather i linked it the beginning of the week? the site gets like way fewer hits over the weekend
 | DaveyBoy Well summed up actually. Hope your op was nothing too bad and you have come out of it all well.
 | DaveyBoy I might review new Mayday and was interested as to what u think of it if/when you hear it.
 | klap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MaymsFzWKQ
 | Douglas THESE TOWERING NEON SIGNS WE MUST UPHOLD!!check out The Jezabels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INaPSKmImbQ
 | iFghtffyrdmns well i've been listening to Sleep Is For The Week since last night, I like it, it just seems really corny at times. I'm gonna work my way through his discography, think i'll be seeing him with Andrew Jackson Jihad in september so I'd like to at least participate in some of those epic singalongs haha
 | Irving Will do! And what I meant was that you had just surrendered the head-to-head league championship title by inviting me in lol ;)
 | Irving Thanks buddy!! =) PS - You just gave away the championship title ;)
 | Irving You. Long time no revieeeewwww...
 | 05McDonaldT I apologise if I came off as a bit of a cock. I'd honestly say it's a 1 rather than a 2, it's just that I've become so annoyed with the way it's got so much praise despite in my opinion being frankly insipid that I gave it a 1. Personally really don't hear anything particularly interesting but I think I'll learn to accept that I'm wrong at some point because it seems to be just me who isn't keen
 | 05McDonaldT sorry for the triple post btw, internet was being slow
 | 05McDonaldT well no, take the tallest man on earth, that's a folk album and it was one of the best albums of last year. Folk music generally isn't bland and although I'm obviously far from being a connoisseur when it comes to folk, the Bon Iver album is pretty tedious, anybody could have written such blandly anonymous material
 | DaveyBoy 369566-239495 - fantasy.premierleague.com
 | chambered89 "no, it's still Bon Iver, it's still gorgeous, it still makes everything stand still."
so true
 | Sowing just popping in to say thanks for reviewing/rec'ing hey rosetta's new album. i 4.5'd it today, excellent excellent album
 | AtavanHalen Avalanche City - Our New Life Above The Ground. You would love this.
 | Iluvatar the vocals are the best adammifer knot DONT BE A PUSSY
 | DaveyBoy Dont fret. I wont dob you in. Im actually surprised it isnt streaming yet and am sure it will be soon. Otherwise, its Tuesday in Oz in less than 10 hours. As long as you have it copied and pasted just in case. And yeah, dont go by staff as we are allowed to post any time.
 | Douglas haha funny because there is a really good guitarpro tab by AdamNott haha and i was like omg
 | Douglas so... did you by any chance submit a guitar pro tab for skinny love at ultimate-guitar.com?
 | SeaAnemone ask Romulus one second for new 2011 recs. Knott- answers 2 seconds later with a rec. ok didn't know things worked like this but I don't mind :) consider it d/l-ed and soon-to-be-listened-to, thanks!
 | AtavanHalen "this influx of stupid as **** new users is so annoying" YES THANK YOU OH MY GOD
 | TheBalderdashMan So does yours and besides that you're simply Adam Knott, so there you have it.
 | Winesburgohio Hello Knott! I just want to thank you 'cos your review of Frightened Rabbit was basically the reason i downloaded it. I won't go into the nitty-gritty personal resonance it has for me, but suffice to say it is one of the most gorgeous records I have heard in a long, long time. I haven't wanted to listen to anything else for days. THANKS FOR BEING THE CONDUIT YO
 | Irving "Adam Knott, contributing writer for Sputnikmusic awarded the album a "superb" 4.5/5. He opined that "although situated largely in the seemingly mundane where its predecessor concerned itself (perhaps excessively) with abstract universalities, Simple Math might actually be the superior record."
 | qwe3 its p good so far really tiresome listen though
 | Phideaux Finally listened to Frank Turner. Really good stuff. Thanks for getting me into it.
 | Shrapnel94 Thanks so much for listening. And yeah, I usually tell people not to listen to that song with headphones, haha. Production isn't my strong point, as you may have noticed.
 | Ire i want to give that display pic a 5/5
 | sonictheplumber dude im just sayin its the false rockers who dont jam with me style
 | conradtao Thanks for that comment you left on my Gaga review :)
 | SeaAnemone I see a lot more similarities between Hazelton and Bon Iver, Bon Iver and I hadn't seen that comparison made so I wanted to run it by you I dunno... like many listeners who only heard FE, FA are saying whoah this is a big jump but a. I don't think it's a huge change and b. I think the more electric, meandering, lighter feel of hazeltons is sorta comparable. whatcha think?
 | SeaAnemone you've heard just vernon's solo stuff i'm assuming, right?
 | Romulus dude i just want to give you a hug for everything bon iver-related you have posted recently
 | Slum Your Bon Iver soundoff is perfect
 | Eko thanks. I thought about reviewing it and still might but that album just frustrates me to no end.
 | SeaAnemone next time you're in the mood for indie/post-rock mix stuff can you do me a favor and listen to A Bunny's Caravan - Draining Puddles, Retrieving Treasure, for me please? :) I think you'd love it
 | Maniac! lol nah. I pretty much take everything here playfully.
 | Maniac! a 5 second post is hardly wasting my life. judging someone's intellect by how they post on sputnik threads is not exactly a good bet either.
 | Maniac! I'm sorry that you take my posting tendencies seriously.
 | Yotimi You rec'ed Cauterize to me like a year ago. Well, just listened finally and that's some solid pop punk I must say, thanks man
 | lancebramsay Little Comets need to be bumped. I put them on my top 50 for 2011 8o)
 | Kimm thing as tolerance btw - and it is not the church's job to disciple those outside the church for things such as a homosexual lifestyle. That being said, we are also called to be a witness for Christ and certainly not to condone that which goes against God's law. (the NT speaks directly of God's design for sex and marriage as well).
 | Kimm No, that was a judicial law for the Israelites ("God's people") who had just been delivered from their enslavement in Egypt. We live under grace after the life and death of Christ who "did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it". Those laws established God's holiness and showed how to live apart from worldliness (hence the laws about wearing clothing made of two materials and sowing fields with multiple kinds of seed). Christ taught a message of love and compassion - which is not the same
 | foreverendeared Wow, she responded. Definitely check out her answer. Facepalm inducing.
 | foreverendeared See, that's perfect, but Christians inevitably come back with, "we cannot even begin to understand or imagine the ways of an omniscient God." Then they refuse to see how illogical and ridiculous their argument is! It's SO frustrating!
 | DaveyBoy Been away for the easter long weekend, so have not had a chance to even listen to it and am behind the eight ball. Will get to it eventually I guess. Sounds disappointing from your sound off, but man I love the song Tokyo.
 | SeaAnemone sup knott- we're creating a contrib group on lastfm because willie says on the weekly news thing we'll have the contribs' top plays of the week with the staff's instead of the users (because it's always the same) so here's the link to the group if you wanna join:http://www.last.fm/group/Sputnikmusic.com Contributors(you already knew this but i just copy/pasted so yeah)
 | Defeater It's mostly a lack of motivation, combined with work and school. After a long day you just want to sit back and relax.
 | Defeater Thanks. I wish I had the motivation to write more often.
 | Defeater I'd appreciate it if you'd read my Stevens review and give some feedback, since you seem to know what you're doing.
 | Yotimi I don't really like prog but love In the Court of the Crimson King. Do it man.
 | Aids I'm not certain you'd like it, but you absolutely MUST hear it. That "21st century schizoid man" bit from Kanye's "Power" is a sample from that album, but you probably knew that.
 | Aids "got a question, would i like this? i see it everywhere. but i have a mental block when it comes to prog." oh my god get it already what is wrong with you? one of the most essential albums of evar.
 | SeaAnemone like I just said to Dev, I was going for the shoutbox approach (BC and I had been over this extensively before, the poor child), but then I noticed Dev had it all covered in the thread. Our bases are covered regarding letting BC know how much of an idiot he is (hed the review where i went off on him lol), but we are truly doing God's work :)
 | SeaAnemone yes I know I saw it this morning on facebook, posted by you, and now reposted by adam and chan haha, it really is fantastic... I was a little underwhelmed by his EP, but I love that song already
 | SeaAnemone somebody finally posted this (first post on it)... and it's on SlightlyEpic's blog nonetheless!http://carriedouttosea.blogspot.com/
 | Observer I think I gave it a quick run through a while back but ill go back and check it out given the meadowlands comparison
 | DaveyBoy Strikey, you heard The Joy Formidable. I think youd like them. Theyre like twee shoegaze, but accessible.
 | scissorlocked holy s*** man! how the **** did you know I just downloaded the album? what sick joke is that? appearing form out of nowhere and threatening people?
 | Aids St. Anger maybe?
 | Aids yah oh well, I guess I'm cool with it if it still has to do with Maybeshewill. not nearly as iconic though
 | DiceMan Good dig man I've been getting into The Weakerthans and The Mountain Goats lately and they both rule
 | Sowing about language? what do you mean? still, sounds interesting...and as always, I look forward to reading your thoughts. i know you like it a lot, hopefully it will increase my appreciation for it.
 | Sowing will do. still havent decided whether or not to release my 3 review of it. i want to wait til I get the cd and listen to it, as you said, in high quality because right now i'm basing it off of lining up the youtube songs in order. but still, unless the sound quality is a determining factor, i still find the songs themselves to be a little below how good I expected them to be
 | Observer Definitely feeling you on the yellowcard backward discography thing. lights and sounds is really starting to click with me again.
 | DaveyBoy Cool. Getting bored happens to all of us I guess. Just wanted to make certain that every rating of mine is not going to refer back to The Monitor. I think I explained myself on that rating well enough. Now, because youve held me to task, Im gonna go try and explain the RA summary. Here goes nothing.
 | Sowing the entire yellowcard album can be heard in separate songs on youtube. there is probably a leak somewhere but i don't dl illegally so it doesn't effect me. just figured i'd let you know you could catch the songs on youtube maybe before they get taken down. i liked almost every song.
 | Hawks Without a doubt man.
 | Maniac! Is your rating of Raekwon's new album legitimate, or just to go along with your soundoff?
 | ConsiderPhlebas It's poor quality, but have you heard of these guys? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1yIv2WpyLQ
 | DaveyBoy But your profile pic is funny, if no longer relevant.
 | Irving Be proud of your Avril review dude. It was seriously very good.
 | DaveyBoy Yeah, Jason Lancaster. The guy with the rougher voice. First EP is so-so with one amazing track. 2nd EP is fantastic. Still getting my thoughts together on the LP but its an easy 3.5. Youll like them if not as much as ALIR.
 | DaveyBoy Sir Knott, Im about to review new Go Radio and was surprised you hadnt rated either of their 2 EPs since you were such a big fan of ALIRomantics. Heard them?
 | Yotimi couldn't find No Signal either. Sorry man.
 | Slum Nice, I'm learning a bit of french this year. Plan to teach it or what?
 | theacademy i think i just cant win, here, man... i love the way you lie, but your grammar infuriates me sometimes http://bit.ly/hEgZnz
 | Slum Pff, good excuse. What are you studying dudeski?
 | Slum I fully expect a review of Killing Time from you, sir
 | robin stop acting so shocked to the whole radiohead thing and send me a link to the little comets record that actually works =( x
 | Irving *cough cough cough* Monica Skoko *cough cough* ;) But do write often Knott! I love reading your stuff, and have learned lots from them - it would make me very happy to see more of your pieces on here.
 | Irving Also - you've been writing really well lately man, and I haven't found much to say about your stuff at all. That said, we all know what happened the last time I tried to attack a Knott review *cough cough* Plain White T's *cough* Haha! ;)
 | Irving I actually had to go and look up the meaning for "vicariously" so, um, yeah =p But thanks Knott - I appreciate it. Sometimes I do ask myself if I'm "good enough" to lay down all these withering criticisms (I'm just a lowly user after all!) but if it helps the writing around here then I guess that's a good thing.
 | Curse. I posted it then removed the comment after I knew he had it haha
 | DinoX Do you have a link to Empty Days and Sleepless Nights you feel like sharing?
 | chambered89 i 5ed coloring book too it's pretty much perfect dude
 | BigTuna tell me why you hate Sigh No More
 | fr33convict I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WON'T COME FROM ENGLAND TO TEXAS TO SEE MY BAND YOU SELFISH BASTARD
 | Captain Civic Yeah, my post hardcore was originally about 50%, now it's half that. Keep up the good work and I'll keep reading it.
 | Captain Civic Wow you really like Yellowcard. Also, your reviews are good for finding out alt/indie rock bands, and you may be a contributing factor to my preferred genre shift from post hardcore.
 | DaveyBoy I have Little War in the middle grouping. And I agree on what you say about Shudder. Its under rated. But I think TWWounded was a bit over rated, which I know you disagree with.
 | DaveyBoy 1, 2, 7 and 10. You had to know Id like The Wrong Way. I mean theres some cock rock in it. The closer is excellent. And dont get me wrong, I like Mona Lisa too, but I cant see those 4 changing as my recos. If you had to pick a worst track, what would it be.
 | DaveyBoy Was just about to ask you what you thought when I saw your sound off. There could actually be a touch of inconsistency about this album. Shock horror. There are 4 clear standouts to me, and 2 or 3 others that are good. I need to concentrate on the remaining 3 because they are just a bit backgroundy music to me right now.
