| xxm i like you even if i disagree with you just saying
| luci Hey Mike wanna join our turntable? http://turntable.fm/themezzcrew
| AggravatedYeti http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztoSUhbNntQ -- sup babycakes?
| Sowing Do you focus on new releases (like within 1-2 weeks of the official date)? Because honestly I think that helped me get it...I wouldn't sweat it either way though. I could never blame someone for giving up after 3 times, but I think that might have happened to Atavan or someone else before they got it, so chin up.
| AtavanHalen Thank you very much. This year I will strive to tell you and SowingSeason apart, which happens to me a lot for some very strange reason. Also, check out Alpine, Australian band - http://www.myspace.com/alpineband
| CelestialDust I was really surprised you didn't get bumped to at least contrib, no disrespect to Eno but you deffff deserved it more him. I don't know how on earth he got it. Don't let them discourage you from reviewing. love your frusciante reviews!
| Sowing Sorry to see you got passed over man, to be honest I thought they were going to bring you in with Deviant and myself
| ConsiderPhlebas I know it's not a huge deal but I was pretty gutted you didn't get a contrib spot, man. Hope you stick around, or come back.
| Blindsided I can't say I blame you for that decision. They promoted two people, one with 1 review and 1 with like 6 for staff right off the bat when your a seasoned vet. If I were you I'd search for some goddamn answers.
| Observer Thanks man. I'm really pissed that a few others didn't get promoted, you chief amongst others
| Blindsided How the motherfuking fuk did you not get staff or contrib?
| PuddlesPuddles "I crawled the earth, but now I'm higher. 2010, watch it go to fire." Vedder predicted the Israeli forest fires and the Haitian earthquake? Does no one care!!
| Aids hey man I really really enjoyed The State Lottery, I've got to thank you for your review because I probably would have missed out otherwise
| Observer Figured it would be right up your alley. It always sits really close to a 4.5 for me.
| Romulus damn if you both you and jared love it there's like a 99% chance that i will as well. thanks for the heads up on that and the punk recs from earlier, i think they were all 4 . been digging latterman especially.
| Blindsided Local cd shop, looks brand new too, still has glue from the stickers and the cd comes out like it was just opened a day ago. Paid like 8 bucks for it, cheapest price on half.ebay/amazon is $22.
| Blindsided I found a hard copy of Boys On The Docks this morning, just thought I'd brag.
| tombits yep, that's me. it was a while ago though some i'm not sure how accurate the tab is, haha.
| BigHans Racing in the Street is such a good song. I once had a music professor tell me it is the most devastating song he's ever heard.
| BigHans I see you 5'd Latterman, sweet.
| juiceviaorange dude, i am in ultra pearl jam rape mode; it's been amazing
| Dave de Sylvia I wouldn't have thought you'd need a new account. A few of the staff members post with different accounts on the forums than the review site.
| omnipanzer In case you don't get back to your list to see my comment "I formally request you do a Review of Blind Faith-Blind Faith Deluxe Edition. Listen to the original 6 and then listen to it as a whole for comparison."
| couldwinarabbit that is really excellent thanks Mike. How did it not get on American Slang?
| Nagrarok Liking The Monitor, especially the first and last track.
| Satellite yeah dude, not only is (or WAS) that a sweet latterman offshoot, it also had the bassist from jawbreaker. i've only heard their ep, though. guess i should change that.
| klap bahahaha that is dive-bar/titus andronicus worthy
| klap captain morgan and spiced cider sneakiest blackout ever
| Nagrarok Downloading all three right now, will listen in the course of next week at the latest. Also here's reminding you to still check out the Spock's Beard album - you'd enjoy it.
| Nagrarok So how much would I like that certain album at the top of your 2010 list? I'm doing some last-month listening on things I shouldn't have missed.
| Romulus thank you very much, i'm excited to go through these with break coming up and all
| Romulus hey can you give me some punk-related recs? i think you're becoming my go-to-guy and i haven't listened to near enough
| AnotherBrick So what'd you think of Building an Empire compared to Mute?
| klap butt****ed the lsat this morning currently two 4 lokos deep. where's the dew
| Satellite whoa nice. shoulda made the album imo.
| Sowing with 103 quality reviews, im sure you are at least on the map
| Sowing thanks man. i wonder if they are considering promoting more people, because im sure you and a few others would be in consideration
| ifyoumakeit Hey, just wanted to let you know that you have an error on your Iron Chic review. It's Jason Lubrano ( of Small Arms Dealer ) who is the singer of the band, not Phil, although he does sing backups.
| BigHans oh and this song, its ****ing amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrkEDe6Ljqs
| Satellite haha you are correct sir! that was my original sputnik name as well.
| Satellite i use winrar: http://download.cnet.com/WinRAR-32-bit/3000-2250_4-10007677.html
| Satellite New RVIVR EP is great. Better than the full-length imo. Check that s*** out man.
| Jethro42 You want some good prog based on my instinct? In order: Supertramp, Mostly Autumn, Marillion (they have lots more than SFAJT), Harmonium, The Pineapple thief, Premiata Forneria Marconi(PFM). Enjoy.
| Romulus dude i think we have different sputnik/sleep schedules because i seem to always miss your lists/reviews and stuff. i'm gonna go check this one out/check the other ones out/vote on my 2010 supergroup/commend you for mentioning love tara/stop using slashes
| Kiran lol you can ignore that shout i justd, for some reason it decided to work flawlessly this time! and yeah its the coolest thing! such a great place, apart from the communism
| SeaAnemone yeah you should really give mtb's older stuff a try, it's pretty different from omni and p.o.i. I have They Make Beer Commercials at a 5 and HRP at a 4.5 mostly for nostalgic reasons, but you should really check em both out if you get a chance!
| BigTuna Good Luck - Into Lake Griffy NOW
| BigHans Hey dude you won something: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=59420
| SeaAnemone are you a fan of Oceansize's "Everyone Into Position?"
| WhiteNoise http://invisible-movement.net/download/audio/scwp-acoustic there ya go.
| BigTuna yeah, it's not excellent :( 3-3.5 range for me
| WhiteNoise Hey man, I noticed you gave Shadows collide with People 5 stars. I found a website that has most of the tracks stripped back/re-recorded and it's definitley worth a look. Give me a yell if your interested.
| Satellite yeah man, i knew you'd like it. they seem like a band that's just a little bit of exposure away from becoming the next gaslight anthem or something.
| SeaAnemone same here actually... I've only been reviewing like 2/3 weeks or so, and only when I'm at work, and it's been nice not going on here on weekends at all really. Just wondering because I was, and still am, but to a lesser extent now, feeling a loss of motivation from all the school/running/lack of interest in new music/life in general.
| SeaAnemone (referring to comment in KOL) where have your reviews been lately man? no enthusiasm for music... too busy with school? what's up?
| Satellite Sweet dude. Check out the new Iron Chic album (another Latterman offshoot). I've been adding a ton of punk bands to the db lately.
| BigHans Awesome. The lyrics in that song are indescribably brilliant.
| BigHans And since you're on an Americana kick, check out this album, rules hard: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/9461/Latterman-No-Matter-Where-We-Go...!/
Killer song from it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMK8TleEMdo
| BigHans I was just gonna tell you to download Boys and Girls in America but see you already did.
| PuddlesPuddles It's gonna be longer now because of the 3eb/Fredianelli lawsuit :/ I'm half excited and half nervous what it's going to sound like
| BigTuna at least we have Bad Books to hold us over
| BigHans and dude, tell me youve heard this Gaslight song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cunR6Jz0ARQ
| BigHans Oh, and this song absolutely ****ing slays, even if the album its off kind of sucks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOxc2cM75NI
| BigHans Thats a good one but Anchors Aweigh and the Gold Record are better IMO.
| BigTuna it goes great! Do you have any clue when the 3rd MO LP is supposed to be released?
| BigHans Yeah I love em, great anthemic americana punk. My two fave songs by them are Im From There and Gasoline.
| BigTuna haven't said hello to you in a while so: hello user EVedder27
| Satellite Niiice. God they're so great live. You'd seen them before, right?
| Satellite I think you'll be alright if/when Brees and Moss start putting up the numbers that they should.
| Satellite np dude. consider it consolation for the beatdown i gave you in the sputnik league this week. ;)
| BigTuna I'm definitely pumped for that release though
| BigTuna holy s*** have you seen the size of the pic on the Bad Books artist page?? That I'm guessing YOU entered!
| Satellite http://kraytracker.com/ JOIN! Awesome punk torrent site, and they hardly ever have open reg. I'm out of invites atm too.
| BigTuna not sufficient, I want a personalized def
| BigHans Yeah Teenage Riot is a fantastic song.
| BigHans Interesting, thats one of my least faves, but its still good. I can distinctly remember the first time my Dad played me Tangled UP in Blue, like 20 years ago. Oh, and Daydream Nation is massively overrated aside from Teenage Riot, saw you were listening to that.
| BigHans What was your favorite song?
| BigHans Im guessing you will love Nebraska. Things start to fall apart a bit after Tunnnel of Love. Until the Rising, which is fantastic.
| BigHans This song was written by God. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkFQHScyti0
| Nagrarok I can only nod in agreement. I feel like playing Born to Run now.
| BigTuna :( You didn't like Murder By Death and now you won't check out any of my other recs
| Nagrarok You hit the nail right on the head. Easily my favourite song from him, the saxophone solo is undescribably fantastic.
| Nagrarok Oh yes, I absolutely love Born to Run. Not much else beside the popular songs that I know though.
| SeaAnemone great! i hope you don't mind! can you get on fb quick? it'll only take a few mins i gotta go soon anyway
| Nagrarok Or, more importanly, check out my review for Odessey and Oracle and listen to the album.
| Nagrarok So have you gotten your internet back or are you still without?
| AnotherBrick i'll be sure to get it. so far i'd say my ranking is newest to oldest. not a big fan of alligator yet, but hopefully that grows
| AnotherBrick what up man, being the indie guy that you are i felt like i have to tell you that The National are becoming one of my favorite bands. just watched a live performance and got chills 4 times during it lol i listen to them daily now
| coneren I forgot I sent that one....What the **** did I just read
| coneren Hello there, drunk as usualllll.......holy christ tis toook ages to correct the spelling I6 could
| Romulus much appreciated-- don't take it out of your sights though cause it takes me eons to review, seriously.
| Romulus hey are you planning on reviewing broken water? only asking because i've had one of my random reviewing sparks but i don't want to steal anything from you so i can easily start on something else if you're working on it. either way really glad you enjoyed it
| Nagrarok Good to see you've continued listening to Camel.
| Dave de Sylvia Is yours the account where you review site and forum accounts aren't linked?
| Nagrarok PLEASE do check out Odessey and Oracle, it's genius and I'm almost certain you'll love it. On a side note, I got the Brandon Boyd review flagged.
| Blindsided Nice. Do try that Letlive album, not as post-hardcore as some stuff, like Thrice though if you dig them.
| Willie Has your account issue been taken care of yet? I let Dave know, but you might also consider posting your problem in the forums too (if it hasn't been fixed yet). Post here: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?goto=newpost
| klap let me know, greetings in braille is probably top 10 favorite songs of all time
| BigHans Got it. Its really great, although I think its abut 15-20 minutes too long.
| SeaAnemone Do me a favor please and listen to Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson - Summer of Fear when you get a chance! I'm 99% sure you'll love it
| BigHans Looks like I should download that Fitsimmons album since you gave it a 4.5. I have only heard When You Were Young.
| AggravatedYeti righteous, glad to hear it. Their other albums are still good, not as much so, but worth the time. Apparently working on a new LP too as we sppeeakkk
| Knott- living in colour live living in colour i can see the paint on your toes
| Blindsided Hey you should check out the new review I just posted, I think you'd really dig the music he plays.
| Romulus yes dude maybe it's cause i started listening to jizzlobber right before i read that but it made me seriously happy. really glad you enjoy it.
| Satellite JOIN! http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/register/joinprivateleague_league_select ID = 390612, pass = opeth.
| Romulus ohhhh that's just painful. to be totally honest though love tara is a good amount above the rest-- i'd probably just mediafire that one album and move on to the others if you enjoy
| Jethro42 Yeah man, you fully deserve to be a contributor actually. What are they waiting for, exactly...
| Jethro42 It's never too late bro, and I knew from the start that you'd dig them. Congrats for your 100th!! Damn, I still remember your first one (DMB) couple months ago. Time flies.
| Romulus i've actually been keeping a steady eye on the new reviews section ahahaha. this is going to be so epic.
| SeaAnemone those are usually the best. I have 2 reviews coming out sometime in the near future... I'm excited because they're both 4/4.5 and they're albums nobody else has rated (new releases have been boring me)... but I'm lookin' forward to your review!
| SeaAnemone big review coming up soon? something special I'm guessing?
| Nagrarok You checking out Camel reminded me I ought to listen to Nux Vomica. Downloading now.
| Romulus on a completely different topic i think figure 8 is officially my second favorite elliott now. it's just so ****ing good.
| Romulus so are we just waiting on the 99th now?
| Nagrarok I remember it was on my old pc before it crashed, I had downloaded all their three albums then, but I never redid it. I probably should soon.
| klap no ****ing terrible story...my memory from 11.30 to 4 is blank and the first thing i remember is talking to cops at 4 with the left front tire off my car because i hit something, they like searched my car and talked to me and then just made my dad come pick me up lol. but i left this party at like 12.30 so i dont know what the **** i was doing for 3 hours
| Nagrarok Hmm... I doubt that will happen. I love the atmosphere on Curtains too much, and I can't really get into some of the moments on SCWP. Apart from the first two instrumental tracks, the production is bothering me sometimes, and I hate the intro to Song to Sing When I'm Lonely.
| Nagrarok Haha, the response to it seemed pretty rushed, so I'm sure you must be busy. You'll be happy to hear also that I've been getting into JFrusc's SCWP more and more.
| Nagrarok And, how were things in Mexico? You missed my 150th, btw.
| Romulus I am so pumped. Seriously this could be a landmark moment in Sputnik history due to our dear departed friend.
| klap I first heard apologies in high school and didn't immediately like it, but I think the highs are the best and expo is more consistent...both rule regardless
| Satellite Yeah dude, Goodbye Cool World is a good BTMI! album to start with. All of their stuff is available for free on their website. Here's the link for that album: http://www.quoteunquoterecords.com/qur002/qur002.zip
| Blindsided The word was supposed to be in that sound off on your shoutbox but of well.I just went into each albums page and found the sound off in the ratings and hit :)
| AggravatedYeti I mean they are from Jersey...also Dropkick shows ****ing rule. Only seen them in Boston once but if I home around Xmas I try to catch their usual annual free show in Providence.
| AggravatedYeti also yer a dirty yank fan, I wouldnt want to head into the Beaner either :D
| AggravatedYeti think on it I suppose, I'll probably be in the same situation w/ work and the drive is only an hour for me. but should some crazy circumstance work out--I'm down dude.
| AggravatedYeti DUUUUUDDEEEE. I think I'm going to try for the Boston show, holy **** perfect.
| Nagrarok You've probably flown off already, but yes, TVU
| Blindsided Yeah they're coming to a club here so I might have to go here. I need to listen to Frank but I always forget to get his stuff, always too expensive to buy.
| Blindsided Did you know that Frank Turner is going to be on tour with Social Distortion on October?
| BigHans Yeah kind of in passing. Love Ire is where its at.
| BigHans Yeah it didn't blow me away the first time, I just knew it was good. It didn't really enthrall me until I listened to it while I was in a morose mood.
| AnotherBrick ya, they're one of my default prog recs i always give to everyone. The debut is better, but the new one is totally worth getting as well. You'll like them a lot
| AnotherBrick no kidding dude. although Demians put out their album recently, which is definitely worth checking out. have you listened to them before?
| BigHans It got an instant 4.5 from Nag, who usually is pretty picky. His other two are ok, but not nearly as good as Pink Moon. The other two have alot of strings and such, while Pink Moon is only acoustic guitar.
| SeaAnemone mmhmm thanks for the welcome back :) I've been incredibly busy working full time, running and lifting every day, going to the beach every weekend, and still trying to enjoy summer, the usual... as I'm sure you're busy too! I won't be here much for the next few weeks or so, but expect a full return when I go back to school in August... cya round!
| Romulus Yeah Who's Next went down pretty easy for the most part and then I hit Quadrophenia and was like wow I've actually never heard anything like this. It was pretty impressive tbh
| Romulus I've been listening to The Who lately and I'm actually finding them very tough to get into for such a well-known band, which is kind of cool honestly. It's good stuff though no questions asked, it's just gonna take some time I think.
| crazyblinddude thanks for the rec'ing love ire and song on my breakup list. album is making me feel tons better.
| Nagrarok You will bump it to a 5 just like I bumped 3eb. But a 4.5 is a very good starting point, haha.
| Nagrarok Ah, ok. I'll be off in a moment, I'll see what you think of it tomorrow. You better damn love it...
| Nagrarok Haha, you like it that much already? How far in are you? Also, I'll be looking forward to that list.
| AnotherBrick veds i've been in an indie mood recently. give me some sweet albums i dont know
| Nagrarok John McVie is generally awesome throughout the album. His bass lines at the intros of Dreams and You Make Loving Fun especially: simple but pure genius.
| Nagrarok I won't be surprised if you recognize more tracks than The Chain; there were a lot of hits from that album.
| JWT155 Zup man, haven't been on in a while due to work, anything new I should check out?
| Satellite More than happy to help, man! I can't relate to what you were going through, but I remember thinking that TGA (specifically that song) would be perfect for the situation. Never imagined it would have such in impact.
| Jethro42 oh and you've just missed the last ProgJect one =]
| Jethro42 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIG3jWU2KAY
Hey Ved, do you know these guys? I only know 5 songs and they're all fantastic like this one.
| Romulus I think I've narrowed it down to 2 possible suspects but I'll wait for the surprise on this one
| Romulus Hmmmm does this 99th album happen to be the product of 5 and 2?
| Romulus these last seven reviews of yours are going to feel like an eternity (the who are also downloading as i write this)
| klap spent all day yesterday doing nothing and thought i should stop wasting my summer...what better way than to transform one of my favorite hobbies into a skill? bout to buy some glasses this weekend woooo
| klap 3 of my favorite things...will try to tomorrow. coincidentally i just purchased this yesterday: http://www.amazon.com/Drinkology-Science-Cocktail-James-Waller/dp/158479304X/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8
| Blindsided Yeah it just seemed much more regular and maybe heavy somewhat and not so alt and indie which is the part of Radiohead that I, myself don't "get".
| Blindsided Is it weird that I like The Bends more than Ok Computer after just 1 listen?
| Romulus Sounds like a plan, I feel like I have a ridiculous amount of stuff to check out but this'll go to the top of my list. hopefully I can listen tomorrow.
| Jethro42 hey buddy. I just noticed Pete's last name is Townshend. I knew it before, but I wasn't sure enough.
| Nagrarok Thanks man, and very subtle at making me see you just reviewed it, haha.
| porch have you heard Silver Jews-American Water? it MIGHT be something you'd like
| klap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC6s6axj3m0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3f0U9IPOb4 (from debut album, rules)
| Nagrarok Yeah it sounded great from your review, I would probably be wise to check it out soon.
| BigHans Yeah man, just be careful. Dont get pressured into "acting mature or your age" too quickly. Enjoy it while you can man. I know alot of people (including me) who got married in early to mid 20's because we all though we were supposed to, and all of us are miserable (the dudes who are still married) or divorced (me). Just sayin.
| Jethro42 I'm talking about indie music, sorry. Also I wrote in your Turner thread...Did you see it?
| Jethro42 man thx for Shearwater, and Frank Turner g.e. So good man. But I'm not as open as I used to be not long ago. Not sure why.
| Romulus No I totally agree with you, I just would've never thought before you told me that those two songs would flow with each other whatsoever. It's such a random combo but it works so well
| Romulus Will do, I feel like I should've gotten on this a while ago. Also I tried the shuffling thing and it was actually awesome even though I can't figure out how those songs flow at all.
| BigHans Watching now. This has been one of my favorite songs for 18 years, gives me chills every time.
| Romulus You're right the Unplugged is so so good. That performance of Nutshell is arguably my favorite live performance ever.
| Romulus I think I want to try Dirt soon, but I feel like that would just scare him
| couldwinarabbit Ya make sure you get the remastered. The old version is amazing, but the remastered one is just so much better in every way.
| klap lol i wasn't serious but now i'm thinking about it
| Romulus I just gave my dad Ten for father's day and he's been playing it nonstop these past two days. The world is a better place.
