    December 8 10:49 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell yeah sure how does full ownership of the site starting 2030 sound?
    December 8 10:46 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell HMMMMMMMM i hate it and am mad! and not specifically because of you! just one of the most inconsistently (if at all) defined and at the same time supremely important terms of the discourse, so often used in a way that dodges the main qs of What Is The Point Of This Song and How Unified Are Song's Components ? it needs a reckoning, in blog form, on my desk, by February next year (no submissions from metalcore artists shall be considered) hmmm
    December 8 10:39 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell "songwriting" hmmm bet

    September 21 01:40 PM
  • Sowing When I added too many extraneous 'tests', the box would refuse to save the input. When I trimmed it back a bit, with a comma and subsequent space, there was no limit on how much I could enter into the box. So, for bands with really long names like The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, for example, the user would just need to use an appropriate abbreviation...TWIABP. I can add this to the FAQ. Remember to also use Firefox if possible for best results.
    September 16 06:00 PM
  • Sowing So, you may or may not remember this, but you once brought it up that there appears to be a character limit on the "favorite bands" section of user profiles that did not previously exist. I made a random discovery: it is not a character limit on the total contents of the box, rather a character limit on how much can be entered without a comma and subsequent space. See my profile as an example.
    September 16 05:58 PM
  • Hawks Yeah it seems a tad more elitist if thats even possible lmao.
    September 14 09:08 PM
  • Hawks Damn lol. I just made mine 2 weeks ago. Haven't delved into the toxicity yet I guess lmao.
    September 14 07:22 PM
  • Hawks That is so damn true. I love this place but I'm tired of being targeted tbh. You on RYM?
    September 14 07:15 PM
  • Hawks Agreed. Have taken the past few days just trying to get my mind right. If you couldn't tell, I have a lot of mental health issues. I'm so ****ed in the head and I wish I wasn't. It sucks so bad man.
    September 14 06:43 PM
  • Hawks In regards to your post on my list, I plan to keep writing. Idk if/when I should post though. In a tough spot here. :[

  • Sunnyvale Hey there! Any interest in writing something up for the new Villagers? I've been toying with it but I've got multiple other potential reviews in the works, so if your high score means you've got something to say about it, would love to read your words. Let me know!
    May 21 12:23 PM
  • FurtherDown Yeah could be. I just listened to Ida's new single and it brings quite interesting electronic twist to the table. Great track!
    May 10 06:35 AM
  • FurtherDown Hey, massive thanks for the promo work of our new Manon Meurt record here on sput! What will be next czechdream record to make a splash here? I'm expecting big things from Ida the Young debut which will come out this year hopefully. And last week I saw Favorite Obsession who are also fresh out of the studio. Any others? :)

  • SteakByrnes Yes! lol but ya that song is def like the dark horse candidate for my favorite on the album, I think they do an amazing job of building it up to a huge climax where Roland is belting the FIND OUTTT part

    November 26 01:25 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Yeah, it's a newer term to retroactively classify nerdy punk bands, Devocore is another name for it. Some people also classify harsh noisy internet emo punk as Egg Punk. Landowner is mostly Post Punk, that you should dig.
    November 17 01:58 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Try this one. Landowner - Escape the Compound. Post Punk/Egg Punk

  • DadKungFu https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=204015Hit it up s***'s real and live and for good things and reasons
    August 27 01:38 PM
  • TwigTW I love the first four Thievery albums, but Saudade is my favorite. I play it more than all the others combined. I get what you're saying though. Those last three albums are terrible. I can't even listen to them. I think the band's best recording days are behind them, but they're still a great band live.
    August 9 07:45 PM
  • DadKungFu You and Cimnele might be the only people interested but apparently Skullflower's dropped a ton of material this year and apparently it all sucks
    August 9 12:55 AM
  • AsleepInTheBack i need a final rec and wish to give you a second rec if you act FAST
    August 3 08:09 PM
  • botb A lot of it for me is the fact that half my life ago (JFC) I was listening to a bunch of scene albums with the he-man woman hater lyrics of metalcore of that day and age and now it just makes me laugh because it?s so embarrassingly poorly written
    July 19 05:48 PM
  • botb Yeah a lot of the stuff that I thought I was gonna love forever in high school is a hard 2.5 now too.
    July 19 05:43 PM
  • botb It?s funny what time and life does to your tastes

  • Storm In A Teacup Yes and our lord and best sput musician Noctus
    April 12 02:16 PM
  • Storm In A Teacup Quite the opposite actually. Johnny attached my poem to the announcement of album of the month. Trophy Scars are on sputnik and we have been a big publicity support for them on previous albums back in sputniks heyday 10 years ago
    April 11 09:41 PM
  • Storm In A Teacup Not even a review! It was a poem i wrote about the album when the album won sputnik album of the month!
    April 11 08:45 PM
  • Storm In A Teacup I saw your comment about sputnik facebook. You should go to Trophy Scars facebook and read their cover photo behind their profile picture. :)

    March 28 02:45 AM
  • xxm Good review of the HIRS Collective. Really good.
    March 28 02:41 AM
  • hesperus also, i just read your review of the new HIRS album, which i thought was very solid, so i'm glad there are energized and talented reviewers who can rep queer hardcore like i used to. definitely keep it up!
    March 27 05:22 AM
  • hesperus hey, i'm glad you've enjoyed my work. i talked about this a couple years ago in the last review i wrote, but long story short, i got to a point where i was struggling to write about music in a way that i felt was constructive and fair to the artists, and the process became more taxing than rewarding. so far that struggle hasn't stopped, so i don't see myself getting back into reviewing anytime soon, but i do still love music
    March 27 05:20 AM
  • Trifolium Hiihhhihih no, I don't really feel like applying. Would feel too much pressure to review at a steady pace and focus too much on new music whereas I love reviewing old stuff that deserves a thread, and prefer to do things nice and slow and whenever I feel like it. What about you?
    March 13 10:46 AM
  • MiloRuggles Will, this may be a testament to a misfiring memory on my end, but I recall you were writing something about sex and/or buildings at some point and the (perhaps) concept had me deeply intrigued
    March 1 06:15 PM
  • MiloRuggles i been here for years! did that architecture**** writeup you were working on ever blossom into being? would love to read

    December 2 02:40 PM

  • Pangea hi someone, do you have song for sotd? the theme is nature https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200646
    September 6 01:31 PM
  • robertsona Listen to Danielson - Ships (2006) if you haven?t. It?s kind of like the songwriting bona fides of that new Daniel Rossen record (?) but it sounds like Illinois by Sufjan Stevens and has him on it and the entirety of deerhoof and a bunch of other random people. EASY 4.5 for me, best new album in 2022
    June 26 06:13 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell yes but they're no good - they've got me in a corner!
    June 26 09:40 AM
  • Sowing that makes an odd amount of sense, because lately our taste on a lot of things seems pretty far apart (daniel rossen notwithstanding!) - so if I view it as more of a middle ground for dedicated fans rather than his best outright, then you might see even more value in it!

  • Sowing the republic of wolves and tigers on trains, particularly "his old branches" from the former and "grandfather" from the latter, are the best entry points for maggio's work if you're interested. souveneer is more of a halfway point between the projects, which I feel is better for familiar fans than for newcomers, but just my two cents! hope you enjoy whatever you check out.

  • Divaman This is true. Kind of disappointed to miss Newport, but my understanding is we'd be riding 25 ft. waves, and even the 8 ft. waves we were riding two nights ago were a bit much.

  • Divaman Still on the cruise ship, someone. We were supposed to spend a day and a half in Charleston, South Carolina and then sail up to Newport, Rhode Island. But there's a storm up north, so we're spending an extra day in Charleston and then sailing directly back to New Jersey. We're not going to Newport like we were supposed to.
