    July 11 01:30 AM
  • artificialbox curious what you think of this. it?s one of my favourite punk 7?s of all time and the band never did anything else after. Vocals might be an acquired taste but I love em. https://katorgaworks.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-7-8
    July 5 04:37 AM

  • Hawks That Timedance compilation is killer. M////
    June 13 06:18 PM
  • Futures i think you'd really dig the new guilt trip album my man. fun bit of beatdown, groove and some thrashy riffin. little nu metal flavor in there. i saw someone saw it's like a juiced up modern take on merauder, and i can hear it.
    June 13 06:02 PM
  • Hawks Oh hell yes, new BOC is so amazing.
    June 10 09:45 PM
  • Hawks Gonna jam it HARD brother. I feel a electronic/ambient rabbit hole coming lol. Already been in an ambient mood.
    June 10 09:10 PM

    June 10 08:02 PM

    May 8 08:27 PM
  • Rowhaus Wow... new Charli is awful
    May 8 07:21 PM
  • Futures oh yeah absolutely! i've heard syro and some of his bigger tracks. been on my to do list for far too long. sunn o))) while not electronic is another one i've added to my reading pairing list haha.
    April 30 12:41 AM
  • Futures definitely need a few more listens. really loved the three song run of roygbiv, run the whirl and aquarius. excited to dig in further, that later stuff sounds even more appealing to me. aphex twin is another big one i'm gonna hit up when i'm on this reading streak.
    April 30 12:27 AM
  • Futures yeah crazy i didn't hear anything of it before, will make a note to get to that soon. and yes! first forray there. really enjoyed it. started to read for the first time in a long time and wanted something with no vocals so figured it was a good match! love the soundscapes and how chill/ambient it was. not really what i was expecting. the vocal snippets are my main drawback, the children got a little irritating after a while but i get the thematic reasoning. need a few more listens.
    April 30 12:04 AM
  • Futures two ex atdi members? damn didn't even know it existed! i will definitely have to check it out, sounds like great stuff.
    April 29 06:56 PM
  • Orb I totally get that. I get writer's block sometimes for years on end, then out the blue I'll hatch a handful of reviews and then back to having writer's block. Happens in seaasons for some of us. I always say don't force it, just let it flow and take your time editting and polishing up the final product. I'll spend days on review sometimes, just tweaking things to make it read smoothly
    April 26 04:17 PM
  • Orb I'm thrilled that you're interested in this! I had thought my mixing days were over honestly, but when I inherited my late pal's gear I felt compelled to honour his legacy. Doing so surprised even myself with what came of it. It'll be completed soon and when it does I'll send it over via email with some backstory on the narrative, its connection to our friendship and the absolute mess of a tracklist (every track has stem samples from like 3 or 4 other tracks)
    April 26 03:35 PM
  • Orb Hey friend! Hawks recommended I get in touch with you. I see you got some impeccable taste and I wanted to ask if you'd be interested in reviewing something I'll be releasing soon. It's a heavily remixed 90 minute adventure through drum n bass, halftime, dubstep and everything in between, woven into a properly seamless patchwork that tells a story. I made it as a tribute to a friend who passed away, and it would be really neat to read about it from an outside perspective!
    April 26 03:18 PM
  • Futures hell yeah man! it was way more hardcore influenced than i thought it would be. really melds well with downtempo deathcore. there is such a crazy beathdown revival now. so much good stuff! i'm actually gonna see if i can cook up a shorter rev for it tonight.
    April 12 11:02 PM
  • Futures dude new bodysnatcher whips ass. very beat down, very heavy. think early acacia strain. just simple pissed off s***. you?d love it. shoutout florida!
    April 12 06:53 AM
  • JayEnder Meant to get back to you sooner but its been a hectic week, sorry about that dude. Neurosis is otherworldly good, new one might be my favorite thing they've done but Through Silver In Blood is a classic. Locust Star is an all timer. Took me a long time to really get into them, just one of those super dense bands that is hard to wrap your head around. ISIS is legendary too, Oceanic is one of my all time favorite albums. Aaron Turner is a god
    April 10 06:08 AM
  • Futures yeah those were really tastefully added, made me want to revisit for sure. that kind of music is just such easy listening to me, doesn't take too much for me to enjoy it haha. but it definitely stood out. wish i had a cool local hardcore scene!
    April 8 11:06 PM
  • Futures that division of mind album goes hard. a bit samey but very enjoyable. the electronic atmospheric intros, outros and touches were interesting additions. made it flow nicely. need a few more listens. such fun riffs and grooves, good vocals as well. so many good breakdowns and two steps lol. ambroxan and solar death rattle were my favs. that intro to ambroxan gets me going.
    April 8 06:16 PM
  • Futures very intriguing! still can't believe that they have another one lol. of all bands to have a mythical double album drop it's converge. i thought i was getting april fooled at first!
    April 7 06:32 PM
  • Futures oh yeah my bad def better than bloodmoon haha. hard to think of that as a converge album even, their addition feels so perfunctory. i'd say on par with dusk but i need a few more listens. the first two and the last two were definitely my favs. they are great at going straightforward but i do miss the more experimental touches they used to have. hopefully the new one is a bit different!
    April 7 06:07 PM
  • Futures very nice will def give that a listen soon! been catching up on my backlog of 2k26. finally got to the new converge lol. thought it was solid but maybe their weakest? definitely shaping up to be an all time year.
    April 7 06:00 PM
  • Futures that's why i was so shocked you didn't hear it haha! it's so ahead of it's time. crazy it was made in 85. makes me excited to finally get to anthrax. scott ian seems like the best dude. and awesome you dug that cultist song, pumped for the album. and thanks man, i'm hanging in there best i can. music helps soothe the soul.
    April 7 01:12 AM
  • Futures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1AeCyVfSHQ this is gonna go so hard man
    April 3 11:03 PM
  • Futures oh dude you are going to really dig it. super fun stuff. bump the thread whenever you get around to it!
    March 29 01:00 AM
  • Futures great call there. you ever heard the covers album undisputed attitude by slayer? really rocks just slayer going full crossover on a bunch of punk/hardcore songs. had a song by them on it. you should definitely check that out if you haven't. tom would've been a great punk vocalist.
    March 28 10:59 PM
  • Futures yes sir! had cro mags, carnivore and nuclear assault on the list to get to soon. very excited.
    March 28 10:42 PM
  • Futures holy s*** haha. that's wild. man it's so good. just jam packed with amazing heavy riffs and mosh. you will adore it. i can't wait to dig into crossover. has potential to be an all time genre for me. so clearly the predecessor to metalcore and everything i like about it.
    March 28 10:15 PM
  • JayEnder Man everyone is listening to Neurosis and I can't help but feel like PtW kinda got the shaft bc of that lol. Both albums absolutely rule, nice picks too btw those two and Everything Hurts are definitely my favs m/
    March 28 10:11 PM
  • Futures definitely gotta check that out man! you know me all to well haha. btw i just listened to stormtroopers of death for the first time. absolutely incredible. surprised to not see it in your ratings but surely you've heard it right?
    March 28 09:55 PM
  • JayEnder Dude I can't put down the new PtW, was curious what your favorite song is and also might be time for a rating bump ;]
    March 27 07:01 PM
  • Futures oh for sure they absolutely were. was definitely unique and novel at the time, not so much now lol.
    March 27 12:29 AM
  • Futures much appreciate those very kind words friend. was important to get your feedback given how much you love ptw! i think maybe i'd dig it more if i hadn't just done a fresh discog run. didn't know how different they were. also i'm just so burned out on that soft shimmery reverb soaked deftones sound in the clean sections.
    March 26 10:24 PM
  • Futures very curious to hear your thoughts on my poison the well review! put a lot of work it to make it definitive going through all the albums. they've become one of my favorites. hope i can get your stamp of approval haha.
    March 26 06:18 PM
  • cylinder Same, good call on that! And aw shucks, that's nice of ya to say man :]
    March 15 11:05 PM
  • cylinder Woo!! I'm always so stoked when you enjoy the electro stuff I show ya cuz you're so much more experienced there than me, haha. You should drop a rating on it ;) I'll check Fantastic Man for sure!
    March 15 06:03 PM
  • cylinder I hope you get the chance too man! Hey check out this dope ass house EP I just found: https://pirka.bandcamp.com/album/pirka-vinyl-cuts-05-pvc05
    March 14 08:11 PM
  • cylinder well i wouldn't go quite that far, but it was really fun seeing him in person and hearing a bunch of songs i recognized. he definitely brought the energy, which was great to see cuz he's getting older now. the band was great too- if i recall, they had a guy providing a lot of the sounds with what looked like one of those play synthesizers lol
    March 14 05:19 PM
  • cylinder "better than women who are Vietnamese" lmaooo protect this man at all costs. did i ever tell you i got to see him live once? it was a blast
    March 14 04:54 PM
  • Hawks I think you'll dig it HARD. And hell yeah bro, can't wait to read them!!
    March 14 02:12 PM
  • Hawks Jam the album I just reviewed!!!
    March 14 01:59 PM
  • botb Saw your post on propagandhi, their most riffy record IMO is failed states
    March 13 12:15 AM
  • Hawks Hope you dig it buddy! Let me know!
    March 8 02:12 PM
  • Hawks I wasn't familiar either until I saw Shart's review. It absolutely blew me away. Heavy darksynth with some cyber metal vibes as well.
    March 8 02:04 PM
  • Hawks You have to hear the new Carpenter Brut album. It's so your vibe!
    March 8 01:58 PM
  • Hawks Hell yeah bro, sounds good!
    March 7 04:39 PM
  • Hawks Check the Ronker albums that me and Futures reviewed ASAP!!! You will love them both.
    March 7 04:30 PM
  • cylinder Glad to hear that man, major props. m/
    March 7 12:52 AM
  • cylinder Stoked you enjoyed it man! Drop a rating on it so folks know it's legit ;) haha. And I've been doing alright, thanks. Hope all's going well with you too :)
    March 6 03:31 PM
  • cylinder Yo, I think you'd really get a kick out of this. A promo this guy made for his high school house/techno parties. Super fun and quirky :] https://deathisnot.bandcamp.com/album/the-witch-is-back-high-school-party-promo-mix-1992
    March 5 05:11 PM
  • Hawks Do it bro!!! That would be perfect.
    March 5 02:34 PM
  • Hawks Once you get that first one down, you'll be rolling like a machine bro. I really would like to see you get that first one down. Pick your favorite album and just start writing. You have the talent.
    March 5 02:05 PM
  • Hawks Okay, actually got to it earlier because I had time. You need to write reviews bro, blurb is so well-written and informative. You're the man!
    March 5 08:22 AM
  • Hawks Thanks so much bro!! Will read and post after work!!
    March 5 08:03 AM
  • Rowhaus It's such a bounty of melody and riffage! I'll give Advent a try. If it's anything like this I'm sure I'll dig it!
    March 4 09:41 PM
  • Rowhaus This Beloved album is incredible bro! You a real MVP for this one m/
    March 4 09:17 PM
  • Hawks No problem brother! You can just send a Google doc!
    March 4 02:46 PM
  • Futures definitely the weakest spot metal has been in the mainstream in a long long time.
    March 3 11:29 PM
  • Futures i was in high school locked into reading a bunch of metal blogs back then. remember reading metalsucks daily trials, logging in the computers during study hall in the library lol. that and tim lambesis pretty sure same year. actually now that i think about it i think the nergal legal stuff was that year too. wild time to be alive lol. feel like things are just so different now.
    March 3 06:33 AM
  • Futures yeah "groove metal" is such a weird loose genre lol. i never even knew lamb of god were considered that until i got way older. and i bet they absolutely killed it live, i need to see them live someday. the book is supposed to be really good! do you remember that trial happening?
    March 3 01:51 AM
  • Futures randy is a really thoughtful smart guy, i actually think i'm gonna get his book about the concert rushing death. i followed dailys from that trial back in the day. just crazy he went through that. but yeah he's totally a hardcore guy, you definitely hear it. to connect it back wouldn't be surprised if south of heaven was one of the biggest influences on lamb of god. you really hear those riffs all over those early albums.
    March 3 01:17 AM
  • Futures i figured you'd be all over that one haha! really dug that. i need to check out division of mind next. oddly enough i saw randy blythe shout them out as one of his favorite new hardcore bands.
    March 3 12:54 AM
  • Futures yeah for sure, i've actually been watching a ton of interviews with slayer guys over the years. always like to do it for the big bands i really like. jeff was a really interesting guy, respect how quiet and introverted he was. i think kerry gets too much s*** but jeff definitely made slayer what it was. rip!
    March 2 03:34 AM
  • Futures much appreciated my man! and yeah i have been on a slayer kick and saw they covered it. killer cover, really good fit. i was saying in the south of heaven thread how much of an influence that album is on early metalcore. so many sick groovy riffs. just a direct through line really. crazy how slayer influenced black, thrash, death, groove and metalcore. underappreciated in that respect.
    March 1 11:00 PM
  • Futures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwWg89mXgm4
    March 1 01:17 AM
  • Hawks Thanks my brother!!
    February 27 06:23 PM
  • Hawks Awesome!!! Try to have it to me by like Tuesday or Wedbesday of next week.
    February 27 05:53 PM
  • Hawks You wanna write the Converge blurb for the release of the month post? :]
    February 27 05:42 PM
  • Hawks Turning it on now!
    February 26 04:05 PM
  • Hawks Ain't that the damn truth lmao.
    February 24 08:29 PM
  • Hawks Awesome!! Hell yeah, I remember Walmart only had clean versions of albums lmao.
    February 24 08:21 PM
  • Hawks You'll love it I think. Also, speaking of Kiss, his first two albums are essential.
    February 24 08:12 PM
  • Hawks Hell yeah!! You ever jammed Fabolous' debut? If not, get on it asap!
    February 24 08:09 PM
  • Hawks Absolutely!!! She's my fav female rapper by a pretty large margin. Check her debut also, its almost as good.
    February 24 07:56 PM
  • Hawks Broooo, nice rating for Diamond Princess!! Love that album so much. My uncle bought it for me when it first came out, I was like 10 years old lmao.
    February 24 07:38 PM
  • Wizard Nice! Because I'm an old man, I just drink a ton until I'm having a good time LOL my rave days are over!
    February 5 11:12 PM
  • Hawks Will add to the list buddy!
    February 3 08:32 PM
  • Hawks For sure bro!!! A 4 is for sure an acceptable rating. And yeah, I need to hear more of Djrum's stuff soon.
    February 3 07:51 PM
  • Hawks Two things: SO SO SO happy you dig Central Industrial and I just jammed newest Djrum again and it still kicks major ass.
    February 3 06:29 PM
  • Wizard Are you a retired raver?
    February 3 01:11 AM
  • Hawks Hell yeah bro!
    February 2 11:42 PM
  • Hawks Also, I still plan on reviewing Apparitions, but will probably be a couple of weeks. I have reviews for new Mayhem, Converge, Worm and Fossilization all due within the next two weeks so a lot on my plate lol.
    February 2 10:51 PM
  • Hawks Same here bro, but its good for what it is for sure.
    February 2 09:01 PM
  • Hawks Ice Water is good stuff, wish it was a bit longer though tbh lol.
    February 2 08:53 PM
  • Hawks Definitely gonna check it my brother, thanks for the rec!
    February 2 07:56 PM
  • Hawks I have not, but I'll have to check. In a big core mood today. The breakdowns are consuming me hard.
    February 2 07:50 PM
  • Hawks Gonna jam that new Crush Your Soul album when I get home from work bro. M////
    February 2 07:44 PM
  • Hawks LFG!!!
    January 31 08:34 PM
  • Hawks Hell yeah bro! Its a tad minimal, but I still think you'd very much dig it.
    January 31 08:22 PM
  • Hawks Check my new review!! Think you might dig it bro.
    January 31 08:18 PM
  • Hawks Gotta give it a few more listens, but I'll try to have something up by tomorrow or Monday. :]
    January 31 02:25 PM
  • Hawks Gonna write up a review for Apparitions sometime this weekend. We need a thread for that album HARD. Maybe get it some more attention.
    January 31 02:22 PM
  • Hawks Will do brother!!! You've thrown out some great recs so far. I'm having fun jamming all of them for sure. I don't see this binge stopping anytime soon lol.
    January 30 07:16 PM
  • Hawks Man, this Forest Drive West album is friggin fantastic.
    January 30 07:05 PM
  • Hawks Sweet, added to the list!
    January 30 03:42 PM
  • Hawks Will look into that!! Any particular release?
    January 30 03:37 PM
  • Hawks Really digging Voices from the Lake!
    January 30 03:22 PM
  • Hawks HELL YEAH!!! Would love to see that one.
    January 30 01:35 AM
  • Hawks Gonna add both to the list now brother!
    January 22 05:48 PM
  • Hawks Alright, that Roc Marciano album rules hard too. I gotta hear more of his stuff for sure.
    January 22 05:41 PM
  • Hawks Gonna jam it in a few minutes, will report back!
    January 22 01:53 PM
  • Hawks Exactly how I feel about it bro. Gonna add that Roc Marciano album to the list. Been meaning to get into his stuff for a minute now.
    January 22 01:50 PM
  • Hawks The beats are so damn good, they're kinda minimal, but **** they hit so hard. And I love Stove's flow so much. Glad I finally checked it and glad you reminded me once again lol.
    January 22 01:36 PM
  • Hawks Ok yeah, this Stove God Cooks album is friggin amazing!!
    January 22 01:31 PM
  • Hawks Hell yeah bro! Seems right up your alley.
    January 13 07:27 PM
  • Hawks You ever jam any Dream Dolphin? If not, get on her stuff asap. Think you'd dig HARD.
    January 12 04:43 PM
  • Hawks Gonna check it right now!
    December 22 04:12 PM
  • Hawks That was only the second full album I've heard from them, but its cool to hear them continously switching styles and doing it well.
    December 22 04:09 PM
  • Hawks That new AFI record rules hard.
    December 22 12:49 PM
  • Hawks Tbh, idk how the voting for the staff list even works yet since its my first year doing it lmao. I am gonna jam that hard though, looks sick.
    November 25 04:39 PM
  • Hawks Oh I'm finding them alright lol. Gonna probably try to finish jamming those 100 electronic albums before I do anything else. Except for maybe next month because I'm gonna focus on cramming 2025 albums for mine/the staff end of year list lol.
    November 25 04:22 PM
  • Hawks Good lord, I'm gonna follow that like the Bible lmao. I trust you completely when it comes to this stuff. Seems like we lean in the same direction in terms of what we like, though you've heard a lot more lol.
    November 25 04:07 PM
  • Hawks I'm gonna be digging for a while bro. My hiatus from metal is gonna last a while. Getting my head right and ambient/electronic/hip-hop are really helping to do it for me, especially at bed time. So easy to throw those types of tunes on and drift off.
    November 25 03:55 PM
  • Hawks You're the friggin man! Will definitely look into that after work. I'm having so much fun getting more into electronic stuff. The vibes are so good man.
    November 25 03:48 PM
  • Hawks Ohhhh nice, will have to deep dive that label for sure. Techno is probably my fav type of electronic, but I love IDM, house, downtempo, drum and bass, electro, breakbeat and other stuff of the like as well. Also plan on digging heavier into trip-hop.
    November 25 03:08 PM
  • Hawks Can't wait to jam more Zenker Brothers. Listened to the Mad System EP and it blew me away. So funky yet cold and industrial too. Great stuff.
    November 25 01:27 PM
  • Hawks Definitely hype to jam it. Got some stuff I gotta do today, but will be jamming tonight for sure!
    November 23 02:13 PM
  • Hawks Brown Sugar is so damn amazing. About to re-jam Voodoo now too. I have a feeling I'll dig it this time around!
    November 23 12:36 PM
  • Hawks Will jam it when I get home from work bro!
    November 22 03:03 PM
  • Hawks Same bro. I think the new one is my fav of his that I've heard so far.
    November 22 02:59 PM
  • Hawks Jam the album I just reviewed asap!!! You'll love it I think.
    November 22 02:34 PM
  • Futures great looking out brother, will absolutely get to those. i've got one for you if you're in the mood for some old school deathcore. diamonds to dust- amidst the hallowed and vanquished. some of the best vocals in the game, insane range and absolutely filthy. massive breakdowns, little synth/keys, little melodies. feels straight outta myspace. v simple and comforting. kinda like old make them suffer but christcore. they got a new album coming out next month.
    November 20 07:40 PM
  • Futures hahaha nice. and yes todd jones messed that up, saw he came back for the last one! i listened to bit a of them back then because they were on those big core bills which was wild. gotta be weird for a bunch of scene kids to go for miss may i and see terror opening haha. love the raw vocals, perfect pissed off tone. this is my kinda hardcore for sure.
    November 20 07:21 PM
  • Futures absolutely, i have grown to find they do really fit the music. definitely going to go down that road haha. now i'm interested in going back more to punk like black flag and agnostic front! never thought this would happen haha. i def see max as well, i need to jam sepultura sometime! nyhc seems just like the best s*** ever lol. perfect for what i like in that kind of music. jamming TERROR now. the first ep. very fun time! i did not know the vocalist was in nails lol, he's a beast.
    November 20 06:46 PM
  • Hawks Jammed the new Zenker Brothers, friggin rules.
    November 20 04:00 AM
  • Hawks Definitely gonna get on it brother!
    November 20 02:32 AM
  • Futures absolutely see why it's a classic. love the riffage, so many classic slayercore riffs mixed with a fun bounce and groove. plus those solos really caught me off guard, super cool. the vocals were always the biggest deterrent to hardcore for me but i'm kind of digging them. i love how pissed off they are. kind of reminds me of tom araya but more yelly, maybe that's how i got used to them. super memorable callouts. catchy as hell album. think that's why hardcore is starting to click.
    November 19 07:12 AM
  • Hawks AHHHHH that is sick bro!! I still gotta jam her others, but yeah, that one blew me away hard. Love her quirky style.
    November 19 02:28 AM
  • Hawks Idk if you've jammed any Missy Elliott, but I think you'd love this album. Finally jammed the whole thing and its a masterpiece. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=40023

  • Futures dude master killer goes hard af. the title track is insane. that melodic bit towards the end whew. really getting into this s***.
    November 18 07:09 PM
  • Futures yeah i didn't know facedown was still kicking either haha! that downtempo sounded mixed with just enough beatdown is such a good blend. the vocals really make it too. doesn't get much heavier. love their atmospheric parts, that really reminds me of newer acacia.
    November 17 11:47 PM
  • Futures dude hell yes! makes me so happy you dug it. i instantly thought of you when i listened to it haha. those riffs are just so crushing. one of the heaviest albums i've heard in a bit. great atmosphere. lyrics too were like acacia nihilism through a christian lens which i found really interesting haha. super well written and put together. and they have such a cool aesthetic/design. i was telling hawks it sounds and feels like something deathwish would release. they're going places.
    November 17 11:29 PM
  • Hawks Hell yeah! You should love both of those also, especially VoidCeremony. Veilburner are a super weird band, but they're probably my fav newer-ish bm band lol.
    November 17 09:24 PM
  • Hawks Let me know if/when you jam that Departures debut!! I think you'll love it tbh.
    November 17 09:15 PM
  • Futures i've got another one for you. cultist- slow suicide. basically christian acacia strain. can't believe i just found them lol. they go so hard. very beatdown, very heavy. vocalist is an absolute beast. even sounds a lot like vincent at points. tons of fun. gym gainz kinda album. 28 minutes, you won't regret it!
    November 14 07:04 PM
  • Hawks You'll love both I think. Both discogs kick so much ass.
    November 14 04:22 PM

  • Futures brooo i got something for you. you ever listen to orthodox? was just looking for new stuff similar to acacia and found them. new album a door left open this year is massive. heavy as balls groovy beatdown with a bit of mathiness. i think it's a album made in a lab for you. it's so good.

    August 11 02:06 AM
  • Futures yeah totally get that. i've found adding in something different occasionally to your usual stuff is the best way to go about it. not overwhelming just a slight change of pace that may lead you down different paths! not too far out of my wheelhouse but i checked out double negative by low and really loved it. really cool like electronic/ambient/slowcore album, think you'd dig it.
    August 10 11:59 PM
