 | cylinder Yo, I think you'd really get a kick out of this. A promo this guy made for his high school house/techno parties. Super fun and quirky :] https://deathisnot.bandcamp.com/album/the-witch-is-back-high-school-party-promo-mix-1992
 | Hawks Do it bro!!! That would be perfect.
 | Hawks Once you get that first one down, you'll be rolling like a machine bro. I really would like to see you get that first one down. Pick your favorite album and just start writing. You have the talent.
 | Hawks Okay, actually got to it earlier because I had time. You need to write reviews bro, blurb is so well-written and informative. You're the man!
 | Hawks Thanks so much bro!! Will read and post after work!!
 | Rowhaus It's such a bounty of melody and riffage! I'll give Advent a try. If it's anything like this I'm sure I'll dig it!
 | Rowhaus This Beloved album is incredible bro! You a real MVP for this one m/
 | Hawks No problem brother! You can just send a Google doc!
 | Futures definitely the weakest spot metal has been in the mainstream in a long long time.
 | Futures i was in high school locked into reading a bunch of metal blogs back then. remember reading metalsucks daily trials, logging in the computers during study hall in the library lol. that and tim lambesis pretty sure same year. actually now that i think about it i think the nergal legal stuff was that year too. wild time to be alive lol. feel like things are just so different now.
 | Futures yeah "groove metal" is such a weird loose genre lol. i never even knew lamb of god were considered that until i got way older. and i bet they absolutely killed it live, i need to see them live someday. the book is supposed to be really good! do you remember that trial happening?
 | Futures randy is a really thoughtful smart guy, i actually think i'm gonna get his book about the concert rushing death. i followed dailys from that trial back in the day. just crazy he went through that. but yeah he's totally a hardcore guy, you definitely hear it. to connect it back wouldn't be surprised if south of heaven was one of the biggest influences on lamb of god. you really hear those riffs all over those early albums.
 | Futures i figured you'd be all over that one haha! really dug that. i need to check out division of mind next. oddly enough i saw randy blythe shout them out as one of his favorite new hardcore bands.
 | Futures yeah for sure, i've actually been watching a ton of interviews with slayer guys over the years. always like to do it for the big bands i really like. jeff was a really interesting guy, respect how quiet and introverted he was. i think kerry gets too much s*** but jeff definitely made slayer what it was. rip!
 | Futures much appreciated my man! and yeah i have been on a slayer kick and saw they covered it. killer cover, really good fit. i was saying in the south of heaven thread how much of an influence that album is on early metalcore. so many sick groovy riffs. just a direct through line really. crazy how slayer influenced black, thrash, death, groove and metalcore. underappreciated in that respect.

 | Hawks Thanks my brother!!
 | Hawks Awesome!!! Try to have it to me by like Tuesday or Wedbesday of next week.
 | Hawks You wanna write the Converge blurb for the release of the month post? :]
 | Hawks Ain't that the damn truth lmao.
 | Hawks Awesome!! Hell yeah, I remember Walmart only had clean versions of albums lmao.
 | Hawks You'll love it I think. Also, speaking of Kiss, his first two albums are essential.
 | Hawks Hell yeah!! You ever jammed Fabolous' debut? If not, get on it asap!
 | Hawks Absolutely!!! She's my fav female rapper by a pretty large margin. Check her debut also, its almost as good.
 | Hawks Broooo, nice rating for Diamond Princess!! Love that album so much. My uncle bought it for me when it first came out, I was like 10 years old lmao.
 | Wizard Nice! Because I'm an old man, I just drink a ton until I'm having a good time LOL my rave days are over!
 | Hawks Will add to the list buddy!
 | Hawks For sure bro!!! A 4 is for sure an acceptable rating. And yeah, I need to hear more of Djrum's stuff soon.
 | Hawks Two things: SO SO SO happy you dig Central Industrial and I just jammed newest Djrum again and it still kicks major ass.
 | Wizard Are you a retired raver?
 | Hawks Also, I still plan on reviewing Apparitions, but will probably be a couple of weeks. I have reviews for new Mayhem, Converge, Worm and Fossilization all due within the next two weeks so a lot on my plate lol.
 | Hawks Same here bro, but its good for what it is for sure.
 | Hawks Ice Water is good stuff, wish it was a bit longer though tbh lol.
 | Hawks Definitely gonna check it my brother, thanks for the rec!
 | Hawks I have not, but I'll have to check. In a big core mood today. The breakdowns are consuming me hard.
 | Hawks Gonna jam that new Crush Your Soul album when I get home from work bro. M////
 | Hawks Hell yeah bro! Its a tad minimal, but I still think you'd very much dig it.
 | Hawks Check my new review!! Think you might dig it bro.
 | Hawks Gotta give it a few more listens, but I'll try to have something up by tomorrow or Monday. :]
 | Hawks Gonna write up a review for Apparitions sometime this weekend. We need a thread for that album HARD. Maybe get it some more attention.
 | Hawks Will do brother!!! You've thrown out some great recs so far. I'm having fun jamming all of them for sure. I don't see this binge stopping anytime soon lol.
 | Hawks Man, this Forest Drive West album is friggin fantastic.
 | Hawks Sweet, added to the list!
 | Hawks Will look into that!! Any particular release?
 | Hawks Really digging Voices from the Lake!
 | Hawks HELL YEAH!!! Would love to see that one.
 | Hawks Gonna add both to the list now brother!
 | Hawks Alright, that Roc Marciano album rules hard too. I gotta hear more of his stuff for sure.
 | Hawks Gonna jam it in a few minutes, will report back!
 | Hawks Exactly how I feel about it bro. Gonna add that Roc Marciano album to the list. Been meaning to get into his stuff for a minute now.
 | Hawks The beats are so damn good, they're kinda minimal, but **** they hit so hard. And I love Stove's flow so much. Glad I finally checked it and glad you reminded me once again lol.
 | Hawks Ok yeah, this Stove God Cooks album is friggin amazing!!
 | Hawks Hell yeah bro! Seems right up your alley.
 | Hawks You ever jam any Dream Dolphin? If not, get on her stuff asap. Think you'd dig HARD.
 | Hawks Gonna check it right now!
 | Hawks That was only the second full album I've heard from them, but its cool to hear them continously switching styles and doing it well.
 | Hawks That new AFI record rules hard.
 | Hawks Tbh, idk how the voting for the staff list even works yet since its my first year doing it lmao. I am gonna jam that hard though, looks sick.
 | Hawks Oh I'm finding them alright lol. Gonna probably try to finish jamming those 100 electronic albums before I do anything else. Except for maybe next month because I'm gonna focus on cramming 2025 albums for mine/the staff end of year list lol.
 | Hawks Good lord, I'm gonna follow that like the Bible lmao. I trust you completely when it comes to this stuff. Seems like we lean in the same direction in terms of what we like, though you've heard a lot more lol.
 | Hawks I'm gonna be digging for a while bro. My hiatus from metal is gonna last a while. Getting my head right and ambient/electronic/hip-hop are really helping to do it for me, especially at bed time. So easy to throw those types of tunes on and drift off.
 | Hawks You're the friggin man! Will definitely look into that after work. I'm having so much fun getting more into electronic stuff. The vibes are so good man.
 | Hawks Ohhhh nice, will have to deep dive that label for sure. Techno is probably my fav type of electronic, but I love IDM, house, downtempo, drum and bass, electro, breakbeat and other stuff of the like as well. Also plan on digging heavier into trip-hop.
 | Hawks Can't wait to jam more Zenker Brothers. Listened to the Mad System EP and it blew me away. So funky yet cold and industrial too. Great stuff.
 | Hawks Definitely hype to jam it. Got some stuff I gotta do today, but will be jamming tonight for sure!
 | Hawks Brown Sugar is so damn amazing. About to re-jam Voodoo now too. I have a feeling I'll dig it this time around!
 | Hawks Will jam it when I get home from work bro!
 | Hawks Same bro. I think the new one is my fav of his that I've heard so far.
 | Hawks Jam the album I just reviewed asap!!! You'll love it I think.
 | Futures great looking out brother, will absolutely get to those. i've got one for you if you're in the mood for some old school deathcore. diamonds to dust- amidst the hallowed and vanquished. some of the best vocals in the game, insane range and absolutely filthy. massive breakdowns, little synth/keys, little melodies. feels straight outta myspace. v simple and comforting. kinda like old make them suffer but christcore. they got a new album coming out next month.
 | Futures hahaha nice. and yes todd jones messed that up, saw he came back for the last one! i listened to bit a of them back then because they were on those big core bills which was wild. gotta be weird for a bunch of scene kids to go for miss may i and see terror opening haha. love the raw vocals, perfect pissed off tone. this is my kinda hardcore for sure.
 | Futures absolutely, i have grown to find they do really fit the music. definitely going to go down that road haha. now i'm interested in going back more to punk like black flag and agnostic front! never thought this would happen haha. i def see max as well, i need to jam sepultura sometime! nyhc seems just like the best s*** ever lol. perfect for what i like in that kind of music. jamming TERROR now. the first ep. very fun time! i did not know the vocalist was in nails lol, he's a beast.
 | Hawks Jammed the new Zenker Brothers, friggin rules.
 | Hawks Definitely gonna get on it brother!
 | Futures absolutely see why it's a classic. love the riffage, so many classic slayercore riffs mixed with a fun bounce and groove. plus those solos really caught me off guard, super cool. the vocals were always the biggest deterrent to hardcore for me but i'm kind of digging them. i love how pissed off they are. kind of reminds me of tom araya but more yelly, maybe that's how i got used to them. super memorable callouts. catchy as hell album. think that's why hardcore is starting to click.
 | Hawks AHHHHH that is sick bro!! I still gotta jam her others, but yeah, that one blew me away hard. Love her quirky style.
 | Hawks Idk if you've jammed any Missy Elliott, but I think you'd love this album. Finally jammed the whole thing and its a masterpiece. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=40023
 | Futures dude master killer goes hard af. the title track is insane. that melodic bit towards the end whew. really getting into this s***.
 | Futures yeah i didn't know facedown was still kicking either haha! that downtempo sounded mixed with just enough beatdown is such a good blend. the vocals really make it too. doesn't get much heavier. love their atmospheric parts, that really reminds me of newer acacia.
 | Futures dude hell yes! makes me so happy you dug it. i instantly thought of you when i listened to it haha. those riffs are just so crushing. one of the heaviest albums i've heard in a bit. great atmosphere. lyrics too were like acacia nihilism through a christian lens which i found really interesting haha. super well written and put together. and they have such a cool aesthetic/design. i was telling hawks it sounds and feels like something deathwish would release. they're going places.
 | Hawks Hell yeah! You should love both of those also, especially VoidCeremony. Veilburner are a super weird band, but they're probably my fav newer-ish bm band lol.
 | Hawks Let me know if/when you jam that Departures debut!! I think you'll love it tbh.
 | Futures i've got another one for you. cultist- slow suicide. basically christian acacia strain. can't believe i just found them lol. they go so hard. very beatdown, very heavy. vocalist is an absolute beast. even sounds a lot like vincent at points. tons of fun. gym gainz kinda album. 28 minutes, you won't regret it!
 | Hawks You'll love both I think. Both discogs kick so much ass.
 | Hawks Jam the new VoidCeremony and new Veilburner asap!!!
 | Futures brooo i got something for you. you ever listen to orthodox? was just looking for new stuff similar to acacia and found them. new album a door left open this year is massive. heavy as balls groovy beatdown with a bit of mathiness. i think it's a album made in a lab for you. it's so good.
 | Hawks Agreed hard bro. Love the downtempo, shoegaze, industrial blend.
 | Hawks Hell yeah bro! Let me know how you like it.
 | Hawks Also make sure you jam the new Daniel Avery, its so damn good.
 | Hawks Yeah, this new Dario Zenker EP kicks ass.
 | Demon of the Fall did you always consume the death metal, it is in your pie, oh my... P.S. hi!
 | Hawks Albums are assigned, check the list!
 | Hawks No deadline on when they have to be written! I just want everyone who's gonna participate in there by Saturday so I can assign albums lol. Just pick an album you want reviewed and comment what it is in the thread!
 | Hawks You should hop in the review a random album game!! :]
 | Hawks All is well brother. Same old s*** just a different day lol.
 | Futures absolutely dude. just a muscle like anything else. it's why i kind of started writing a bit lengthier comments on here when i listen to something for the first time. sure you've noticed haha. gets you in the flow and right state of mind. and if you ever need advice or a proof, i'd love to take a look!
 | Futures much appreciated friend. figured i'd give it a shot! and whenever you got time man. i will be anxiously awaiting the first jr rev.
 | Futures oh hell yeah nice! been meaning to listen to them forever. think i might just start a discog jam haha. seriously had it on the list forever lol
 | Futures got some kid a vibes and some really cool spacey electronic production so think that's right up your ally. let me know if you get to it. shoot me something in return! anything really.
 | Futures yeah totally get that. i've found adding in something different occasionally to your usual stuff is the best way to go about it. not overwhelming just a slight change of pace that may lead you down different paths! not too far out of my wheelhouse but i checked out double negative by low and really loved it. really cool like electronic/ambient/slowcore album, think you'd dig it.
 | Futures good to hear that dude! i'm doing alright, i started working out again recently too. burned myself out on music for a bit there but getting back in now. and yeah for sure loved that album back in the day, just been a long time!
 | Hyperion1001 yeah his stuff is all over the place but in a good way. ive liked most of what hes released so far.
 | Hyperion1001 have you ever listened to any michael j. blood? one of my favorite weirdo techno producers: https://mjblood.bandcamp.com/album/raven-hemoglobin-trgr
 | Hawks Oh we're keeping it bumping. A little slow, but we'll be alright!
 | Spec Hell yeah Prophets is sick.
 | Spec Counterparts are the greatest band of our generation how dare you
 | Hawks I think it will happen. Cooler heads will prevail. Give it some time and maybe we'll get some buddies trickling back.
 | Hawks Me too. I love most of those dudes. But what can we do, ya know? If that's their decision then we just have to respect until they decide if/when they wanna come back.
 | Hawks It will blow over bro, just drama ya know?
 | Hawks Speaking of bm, I know you dig Darkthrone so definitely check out the Sargeist track on my blog post. I think you'll really dig them.
 | Hawks Oh man, gonna have to think. You've heard so much core lol.
 | Emim Yeah that's fair. I'd prefer something like Static Dress to carry the torch, but I'll take knocked loose over sleep token any day of the week
 | Emim I'm sure live it'll be fine. For me I think how popular they became didn't help. Gotta hear about them 24/7 now
 | Emim I'd probably dig the hell out of that band with a different vocalist
 | Emim Make metalcore riff again m/
 | Hawks Jam the album I reviewed today. I think you'll dig it.
 | Emim Ever listened to Saving Grace? Christcore band as I'm sure you could tell, but they riff pretty hard. Vox are a little one note but I've been binging their first album
 | Futures awesome man! would've been a shame if we lost contact.
 | Futures yeah that makes it tough haha. i got facebook, twitter, rym, reddit. could email i guess lol
 | Futures idk how much longer we got on this rock. if you want to keep in contact off site just in case that would be tight brother.
 | Hawks You'll love it buddy. One of the best from the East Coast scene.
 | Hawks Friggin shocked that you've never heard Capital Punishment.
 | bach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rRJ3unERtY you ever hear this one? love this band
 | bach agreed hard. love that stuff. I'm a huge sucker for 80s pop. huge portion of the music I listen to is from that era.
 | bach Love Janet! rhythm nation is very close to a 5 for me as well. that album is like nearly industrial to me
 | Futures just the boost to my ego i need to do it haha! and always in the back of my mind to make the essential guide to myspace deathcore and 90s emo. one day!
 | Futures appreciate it! think i'll do a top 100. and yeah that's true for sure. just noticed all that deathcore revival stuff was like 10 minute ups haha! real diy s***, i respect the hell out of it.
 | Futures haha true just feels like stat padding! i did just hit the ol 1k finally which is amazing. feels good. thinking of what to do.
 | Futures ah yeah i remember you talking about them before! sounds cool for sure. might go on a rampage with all these mini eps i've been seeing lately lol. but i also feel guilty adding them to my ratings for some reason haha!
 | Futures oh brother i'm always down for some corn. the rap really has me curious. i think i'll give it a go haha.
 | Futures that gridiron album sounds interesting haha
 | Dedes The Legacy of Shi is also quite good but certainly leans harder into an almost groove metal energy than hardcore
 | Dedes Lol yeah it's a really the hybridization of all sorts of "gimmicks" that are done with a sterness that makes them feel sincere that makes this album so damn good. It sounds like a band who are extremely self-serious about the craft of goofy fun beatdown so much so they make things work that have no right to imo
 | Emim Glad you dug it. One of my favorite mxc bands and pretty unknown around here for whatever reason
 | Sunnyvale Thank you! Just posted on the blog. It's a nice read, if I have a gripe you probably could've expanded a bit but it's quality. Thanks again!
 | Dedes You should jam Welcame by Rise of the Northstar. Abso****inglutely wicked blend of hip hop and beatdown from France about uhhh something Manga related idk but from your digs it v much strikes as your kinda vibeh
 | Hyperion1001 as far as modern stuff some of my favorites still putting out records are e.r.p., galaxian, cygnus, plant43, and gesloten cirkel. check out anything that comes out on central processing unit and frustrated funk. the abstract eye put out a record this year that i really dig. also vc-118a has one dropping in a couple days that should be good.
 | Hyperion1001 oh yeah i must have missed that. great comp just like the one they put out last year.
 | Hyperion1001 https://wisdomteethuk.bandcamp.com/album/pattern-gardening
 | Emim You ever checked Spitfire?
 | Futures that definitely piques my interest as well haha.
 | Futures oh yeah all out war for sure on the list. thrash riffs just go so well with core. that fast tempo hits so hard with breakdowns. interesting about earth crisis, i'll have to give gomorrah a shot. the hardcore style vocals just do nothing for me lol.
 | Futures hell yeah man! definitely a really unique sound, those bounce riffs with that aggression just go together so well. btw i got to an old rec last night. day of suffering- eternal jihad. really fun album. absolutely slayercore and some sweet dm riffs too. liked it a lot, more of what i expected earth crisis to be which i was disappointed in. tailed off towards the end for me but the first half rips especially the first two songs.
 | Hawks Turning it on very shortly!!
 | Hawks Probably gonna try to write a review for that Killing Me Softly album after I jam. Only if I dig it though lol.
 | Sunnyvale Awesome, thanks! Not urgent, I'd say any time in the next week or so would be fantastic.
 | Sunnyvale Hey there! Any interest in writing up a short blurb for Djrum's release of the month win? If so, just drop a Google Docs link in my Shoutbox when you're ready. Thanks!
 | Hawks Gotta check those at some point soon!!
 | Hawks Just posted it!! And I will be jamming that for sure. I actually still need to check Terror too lol.
 | Hawks It's so groovy and yet beats the hell out of you lol. Friggin love it.
 | Hawks Damn bro this Turmoil album slaps HARD.
 | normaloctagon Real!! In the interim, would you be comfortable sharing your email?
 | Hawks You gotta jam this too!! https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/86152/Rx-Papi-and-Gud-Foreign-Exchange/
 | normaloctagon Ayy anytime buddy. Any luck getting into your discord btw?
 | Hawks YESSSS!!! Yeah he's so off kilter but he makes it sound absolutely perfect lol.
 | normaloctagon New hodge track is on a similar tip to ?like this? by pangea. Belter!
 | Hawks Yeah that new Legowelt friggin rules. Was thinking aboit reviewing it.
 | Hawks Speaking of deep house, new Charles.A.D. rules.
 | Hawks Alien is SICK! I love them progressive electronic/space ambient sound a lot.
 | Hawks **** yeah will do brother.
 | Hawks If you have any electronic recs for me send them on over. I'm jamming hard lol.
 | Emim I probably have lol, been trying to get them to catch on for years now
 | Emim You ever heard Wrench in the Works? Fairly unknown christcore
 | Hawks Awww man that's some BS!! Lol yeah customer service never helps. Starting from scratch is probably your best bet tbh.
 | Hawks Papi and Nephew are both awesome. They both have a lot of material. I kinda just dove in with a little bit of guidance lol. Sounds good bro! Add me on discord Hawks_1992.
 | Hawks Also regarding your convo with Hype I'd be more than happy to help you with anything you need to help you reviewing wise. Feel free to hit me up if you ever need me!
 | Hawks You gotta hear Rigning by Yagya and also 100 Miles and Walk'in by RX Papi friggin ASAP!!! Noticed you don't have either of them rated. :]
 | Hawks Jamming new Djrum album now and LOVING IT.
 | Hyperion1001 sure thing buddy and I?d be happy to help edit. should put this English degree to work somehow lmao.
 | Hyperion1001 you?ll never know until you try. plus there are some staffers on here who write literal unintelligible thesaurus core word salad so nothing you write could be worse than that lmao. as long as you?re direct and too the point and sincere it will be worth posting.
 | Hyperion1001 this new anthony naples does indeed rock. his best since fog fm.
 | Drifter all good bro! good luck on the job hunt!! it's definitely hard out here (everywhere)
 | Drifter have you had a chance to jam my latest rec? all good if not, no rush. : D
 | normaloctagon Rad. Accounting is a great career for sure, i have a couple friends in the field and they have no regrets. Godspeed My! Dude
 | normaloctagon Ayyy good for you! What are you going to school for? Reni and Hodge are both class, sounds fun. Nothing in the immediate future for me, kind of just busting my butt at work til summer really kicks off.
 | normaloctagon Sup big dawg you been to any cool dance parties L8ly?
 | NexCeleris And if it's disso you're after, most of the stuff that was *not* recced by me in norm's recent list is generally liked for a reason. Think you'd dig that Blindfolded alb in particular. I'd def check Ad Nauseam's first album before anything from that list tho. Phenomenal stuff!
 | NexCeleris Those were all more obvious picks. Then there's Mortem (Per) - The Devil Speaks In Tongues; Electrocution - Inside the Unreal for less obvious classics. Dragged Into Sunlight - Hatred for Mankind; Inanna - Converging Ages for modern classics.
 | NexCeleris You seem to have rated many of the usual suspects. In lieu of additional deets re: what you're looking for, here's some I haven't seen in there: Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes; Gorement - The Ending Quest; Atrocity - Hallucinations; Iniquity - Serenadium; The Chasm - whole discog; both Ad Nauseam albs; Convulse - World Without God; Deicide - first 3 and/or The Stench of Redemption
 | Drifter haha, different melle mel. i thought the same thing at first but there's actually a few melle mel's (with different spellings) in california. all different from the og pioneer lmao
 | Drifter you ever jam my second rec for you? no worries if not haha but i just got the cd for it recently. such an amazing album.
 | Hawks Sounds right up my alley!! Adding to the ever growing list lmao.
 | Hawks Oh hell yeah gonna jam that for sure! Gotta get more into Legowelt.
 | DaveyMonsoon Have you heard of Disinterment? You should give Endless a listen, you would probably enjoy it.
 | Hawks Agreed so hard brother and thank you very much. :]]]
 | Hawks Mannnn jamming The B. Coming now and it is amazing. I love The Truth and have for about 20 years so idk why I never checked any of his other stuff. Good call brother!
 | Hawks You're the man!!! Thanks much brother. :]
 | Hawks Gimme a few 2000s gangsta rap albums that I haven't heard. I'm banging Get Rich Or Die Tryin' right now **** man the early/mid 2000s really had some ****ing bangers.
