 | Hawks Got that Scarcity vinyl in swamp green, should be sick. M///
 | Gyromania Yooo I missed your message, myb. I?m gonna check out that album
 | Hawks Makes me wanna cry tears of joy seeing you bump Cradle threads lmao.
 | jrlikestodance Hey buddy! Always loved DM but I've been venturing into lesser known stuff lately. Finding it quite rewarding
 | jrlikestodance Nice to see you comment recently. Always love your feedback/insight. Hope all is well
 | Hawks Missed you buddy! Good to see you comment again. Please stick around. :]
 | gabba Yeah, pretty much so, I've been on a binge since Summer. Didn't realize earlier that it is basically post-rock but much better, with singing, riffs and more complexity. After a long hiatus now I feel excited about a new genre again and it feels great. Still haven't worked my way thorugh the whole CoL/ISIS discog, and Neurosis also awaits, so I'll be having fun for a while. Any recs are welcome!
 | gabba Cheers, will follow you as soon as I create a rym account. Discord feels like entering a mega-highway after being used to isolated roads connecting rural areas, so I?m not sure I?ll show up too often, but who knows?
 | gabba I?ll keep hanging around here as long as possible, but I?ll also make a rym account so that I can follow some of you. What?s your account there? As for discord, I?ll see how it works out, it?s better than nothing. I?m really sad about this turn of events though.
 | Butkuiss I?m going to miss this place, just wanted to say I?ve always appreciated your contributions level headedness before we inevitably go under now lol
 | gabba Mutiny you say? I don?t know? never been on discord, can it work like a music discussion platform or just people trying to outsmart each other? Probs I?ll just stick around here as long as possible.
 | tectactoe general chat, basically anything and everything from the last, like, two(ish) days. happy to give you a truncated recap in DMs if you'd prefer.
 | tectactoe Drama too good to pass up. The end is nigh.
 | tectactoe you need to check discord more often, bb
 | tectactoe Beautiful stuff, mate, absolutely beautiful.
 | tectactoe Atta boy, now it is only a matter of time before you start coming around to LORCA?
 | tectactoe I am not! But I shall add it to the queue - looks interesting. And a Demo 4/5 means it's serious business.
 | tectactoe that's cos there's a lot of s*** music out there, innit
 | tectactoe btw how is your progress on DOOM coming along?
 | tectactoe Maybe I was in the wrong mood, idk - felt very bland. Innocuous. Safe. Borderline anemic. All those reductive adjectives. It's good music, but not music that stirred anything in me. At least not after one listen.
 | Futures oh yeah chelsea! that was cool. let's get a striker finally this offseason.
 | tectactoe Tragic! Because the new Curta'n Wall is fabulous.
 | tectactoe Mostly agree, 2.0 = talent clearly involved but the music itself inspires nothing in me. how do you feel about purposely corny medieval black metal / dungeon synth?
 | tectactoe It's incredibly unique - something everyone owes to themselves to hear at least once imo. Even if it doesn't enter regular rotation for you, I don't think you'll be disappointed for having spent two hours with it, either.
 | tectactoe dude picks very weird 'battles' in which to engage, that's for sure. there's a short list of bands about whom if you post an "incorrect" opinion he will almost subserviently attempt to defend their honor (even if you're not saying anything pejorative about them lol). strange stuff. oddly narcissistic at times, really, his opinion is CLEARLY the correct one and ur an idiot or a poser for disagreeing. decent fellow overall, though ig.
 | tectactoe Bruv, u need to get active again on the Discord. Site's taking a s***. Might be the death knell.
 | tectactoe Negative. Haven't checked any Botch, actually. R u sending me down a core wormhole??
 | Hawks Based rating for The Clown lol.
 | gabba Hey Demon, thanks for the Pram rec! Couldn?t find Helium anywhere online, but Sargasso Sea is a real treat, will check their rest as well! Apart from the obvious references, their sound also reminds me of Monde UFO that I discovered lately, do you know them? More bossa, more jazzy, less kraut male vocals, but still, you might enjoy: https://mondeufo.bandcamp.com/album/7171-2
 | gabba Yeah, sequencing can dramatically change an album's perception. I saw your recent comment on Shaking the Habitual and I completely agree!
 | gabba I know, the 2nd part is great, but it just doesn't have the same effect on me as the first 6 songs. I tested it this morning, and again I zoned out during Heroine, can't help it. So '23' will continue to occupy the dearest 4.5 album position in my heart.
 | normaloctagon Lol! No worries bud. Have a super day (night? I think it is evening in your neck of the woods)
 | normaloctagon I cant recall off top rn but i will certainly let you know as you bump threads ; ) hope youre having a gr8 day skippy
 | normaloctagon Lol! People talk about their sleep-paralysis demon but mine is a 2.5-rating-on-my-favorite-albums demon
 | FowlKrietzsche psst blue squirrel album is BAD am throwing together a review of it rn
 | cylinder ha, that'd be sweet. sucks that feature is broken now :(
 | cylinder https://sl.bing.net/c4DdAfg4b1M
 | tectactoe Fear not, after the recent Neurosis discog run/rerun (I'd only heard three of their albums previously), TIMES OF GRACE is getting the coveted 4-bump! Woo!
 | cylinder Not sure if you saw my reply on my bloops list. That's dope you're diggin Oval :) here's another one from that list i'm pretty sure you'd dig. it's got that moody noirish nu-jazz vibe: https://projectmooncircle.bandcamp.com/album/silent-opera
 | efp123 thank you for your comment in my list. that was nice to read
 | tectactoe I actually have it compiled, just have to Sputerize it. And it?s been a busy week so far! Likely will drop first week of the new year if I?m being honest! But fear not!!
 | WretchedCacophony you still don't have a rating for Deeds of Flesh- Reduced to Ashes :o your ratings for a couple of their albums are only 3 BUT this one actually sounds much different than the other records. Better production with the old school 90s feel akin to Suffocation
 | Futures ah ok interesting about the uk media and liverpool, not surprising tho even over here everyone sucked off klopp the crybaby. hated that guy lol. dude would complain about everything. and we'll always have slippy g lol. watching that happen live was unbelievable, one of my favorite moments.
 | Futures oh hell yeah man haha. always good beating spuds. idk how it feels across the pond but i've personally always hated spurs the most of our rivals. man u back in the day but now def spurs i think.
 | Futures ah nice i didn't know that! this year obviously a little more exciting lol. i still followed but i stopped watching a lot of the games last two years, didn't need to wake up at 6:30 am to see a brutal loss to some bottom half side lol. maresca might be the man. watched the southampton match the other day. love cole palmer. still need a proper st tho lol classic chelsea
 | Futures ah gotcha, it's interesting choosing a team in another country. as an american i've been a chelsea fan for over a decade, played soccer in high school and all of the other big 6 had a fan and chelsea didn't so i went with them. been very painful lately but hey i got to see a champions league win which was amazing. i'm a jags fan feel free to jump on, can't get any worse! travis hunter will be cool! :^)
 | Futures wait do you have a favorite nfl team or just follow the league from across the pond?
 | tectactoe I was really digging it for, like, 20 minutes, then it started to take a nosedive on me. Rallied a little toward the end. But that midsection is a slog.
 | tectactoe Dunno anything about it. Will check! Thx. Also v tragic to see the classic Coward's Rating (3.0) applied to that fabulous Gigan record. I expected more from u.
 | Futures i'm 2013 and idk if i'm even a vet haha. i can't imagine someone being dropped in here not knowing anything about this place lmao
 | Futures lol true. only 2017? could've sworn you were here before that.
 | Futures are u an opeth fan actually???
 | cylinder You're welcome haha. Agreed on its uniqueness, really took me aback the first time i heard it.
 | cylinder A Demon 4?? And it came from one of my lists?? I'm honored : )
 | tectactoe try the i.o - not all prophecies (in my recent ratings). almost purely drum guitar (with some minor sampling). totally music to get lost in. you'll either dig it or totally hate it. i was transfixed.
 | DadKungFu When I wrote the review it created a duplicate page, when the mods merged the new page with the original, it took my review rating and my original rating and stuck them both together. Not the first time it's happened actually
 | Sowing Just a reminder: the Sputnik 2024 fantasy draft is TOMORROW (Sunday) at 6pm EST. Please remember to attend, if you can!
 | tectactoe congrats on finishing the dj sabrina album, i tapped out during the fourth track
 | bighubbabuddha Always nitpicking my good-natured comments. Maybe get a new hobby beside sniffing your cabbage farts
 | Mort. You should have stopped at the destroyer slander
 | budgie tickle tickle tickle !!!!
 | FowlKrietzsche Hahaha don't sweat the drunk shoutbox posting, I think you were just saying you probably would like the Low cover compilation even if you don't recognize any of the artists on it
 | FowlKrietzsche Think you might like this! https://theflenser.bandcamp.com/album/your-voice-is-not-enough-a-tribute-to-low
 | Hawks Mannnn new Scarcity is so unbelievably great.
 | SomeCallMeTim Finally got around to listening to The Always Open Mouth, your rec from the post-hardcore rec list I made. Been semi-avoiding checking this album for some time due to its Sasscore influence tag on RYM, but glad I finally did because it's a really impressive album the further it treks along and I don't hear that much sass influence. They get really creative with the guitars and the tone fits so, so well. Really wish I knew of this album in high school, it likely would have been a top 5 fav. Tyty!
 | Hawks I'm trying to put a review together for Ornette! but I'm having a bit of writers block. Hope to have it up by this weekend so be on the lookout!
 | DDDeftoneDDD Hello! Check da s*** out of this. Hug - https://krallice.bandcamp.com/album/inorganic-rites
 | tectactoe I would never steer you wrong, brother. (Okay maybe I would but I assure you it wouldn't be intentional.) Glad you enjoyed it. Ornette is a beast. That album is quintessential free jazz imo, though it rarely gets discussed.
 | Hawks Let me know what u think!!
 | Hawks https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=219060 Just shared this with Doofster too. Think you'd dig this a lot!
 | tectactoe Oh for sure. For whatever reason, that post-hardcore-ish/(scr)e(a)mo/emo-pop-adjunct genre was HUGE with my demographic in high school. (Not sure if living in the US Midwest had something to do with that but maybe.) Saoson, Senses Fail, Silverstein, The Used, Alexisonfire, Scary Kids, etc. I've grown away from MOST of it now but admit there is a track or two that linger on my favorable side still.
 | tectactoe Funny enough, just dropped a 2/5 on saosin's first full-length. The EP subsists on (1) being shorter, and (2) having "Seven Years" which is a weird nostalgic outlier for me. ("Translating the Name" is decent, too, the rest are mediocre.) Not really digging their full-length, though. Prefer Circa Survive as far as AG bands go.
 | DoofDoof tect is interesting but a lot of his favourites seem very cerebral sorts of things like Beefheart and Zappa and a lot of jazz so usually that isnt generally speaking what gets me going too much beyond a 'respectful 4 - brand of excellence' sort of level. Some exceptions of course. I often agree with his dismissive 2.5s of recent releases though ;)
 | DoofDoof https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/Doofy/stag/sophisti-pop/
 | DoofDoof Sophisti pop is again a very loose genre...I do tag stuff I think is sophisti pop (sometimes not with any RYM tag even in influences) on my profile in the tabs. I have a few genre tags, country, hip hop, metal etc
 | DoofDoof yeah, I guess the thing I find funny here is I am definitely seen as quite a stick in the mud - we know what doofcore is - listener, and that is fine I kind of like that. Sort of a brand or a specialism. From my perspective it is like I have lived at least five musical lives, all totally different day to day listening in terms of preferred genres. I was definitely a rock n metal black T for six or seven years, a P4K and indie site reader for again a similar time, other times more classic acts.
 | DoofDoof basically if music scares me as to how I see myself, how I can take my tastes seriously, if I dont really embrace it at first but theres a nagging intrigue...this stuff is the gold mine!
 | DoofDoof this might explain my love of adult orientated pop, sophisti pop, stuff like the Perry Blake...or Love and Money...or The Bathers. This is the diametric opposite to what I liked as a kid - I would have hated and rejected all those bands in a state of abject fear. I dunno if you have gone through similar phases/questioning? that sort of explains why I embrace the cheese, the sentimental, the adult pop - plus it is excellent, excellent music a lot of the time, often the best :D
 | DoofDoof when I was a kid rock and metal scary me a little bit, like should I be listening to this, is it naughty. Then electronic and hip hop, my brothers taste, became scary, because they were so opposed to what I thought as a kid was my rock and metal loyalty. Then indie was scary because it went against those tougher genres. At this age, old as ****, the scariest music is now the stuff I rejected as a kid - Simply Red, INXS, Erasure, Deacon Blue, etc. That is the final frontier...other than classical
 | tectactoe Oh I have, I just don't have a rating for it (which ultimately means I haven't \really\ listened to it in full since before 2019, which is when I started logging ratings on RYM/sput). 'Watershed' actually just came up on my shuffle playlist the other day haha. Thanks for reminding me that I need to give it a full front-to-back revisit soon, though.
 | tectactoe Had to look up the album art to remember what it even was, lol, clearly pretty forgettable.
 | tectactoe (Oh whoops I guess it's actually from 1962, my b)
 | tectactoe Nah man keep doin yer thing. Only one I would readily recommend atm is Ornette's self-titled (ORNETTE!) from 1961. Maybe my favorite of his. It's like a very pared-down version of FREE JAZZ (half the people) but in many ways the 'white space' is what makes it so much more interesting to me. Somewhat unconventional, tho, so you've been warned lol.
 | tectactoe BASED BASED BASED --- do you need recs?
 | Hawks I'm enjoying your presence around here again Demon. You're a good dude. I apologize if I ever said some BS to you in the past. You're a bro for sure.
 | tectactoe tbh I don't think the connection goes much beyond that. Badalamenti adapted 'Floating' into the main theme, but because of that linkage, I've always felt her whole album is kind of spiritually connected in some way. Idk. Gives me the same vibe. Great album either way, of course.
 | tectactoe Ditto. Twin Peaks was a huge part of my teen years so that album is like candy for me.
 | tectactoe Lol dude I keep trying but I literally cannot see the appeal of her music.
 | Hawks Was not expecting Arab Strap to steamroll Beth Gibbons in the release of the month thread. :[
 | Frost15 Thanks Demon! I'll spin it this weekend
 | Trifolium Demon go listen, you'll like this: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/88534/Panghalina-Lava/
 | tectactoe Yeah no idea what's up with that Incant album, I find the production strangely muddled and off-putting, none of the riffing felt particularly memorable for me, idk. Weird especially since it is bookended by two great albums (Golgotha and Conquest).
 | AsleepInTheBack Sounds cool you are a saint will jam IMMEDIATELY or tomorrow idk
 | Pheromone plus fake history does actually still slap and bang
 | Pheromone Excuse me 3.5 is pretty darn bloody good (with room to grow). Also yeah I got a lot of nostalgic love for Letlive - not a fan?
 | parksungjoon https://concreterecords.bandcamp.com/album/uncunny-valley
 | Pheromone Idk if you were being 100% serious BUT if u do ever need help with sobriety or someone to talk n vent to about anything I would luv to be there for you !!
 | Trifolium Yes, it is from the one after In Sides, The Middle Of Nowhere. It's very nice, their last super good one before their long quality dip (only the most recent one came somewhat close to that level).
 | Trifolium Late 90s classic, did you check this I forgot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYRaehFVp4w
 | Trifolium OOh yeah I knew a new one was in the works, will check it out! Did not really care for the first one all that much because I felt the singer was lacking. Too monotonous and flat for my tastes. But who knows!
 | Trifolium Demon yeeeesssssssssss. One hundred percent deserved and I'm happy that we are both in the know, lonely though we are, we still have each other!!!!
 | Trifolium Yeah that's pretty much what it is! Very nice place to browse when you're bored at work hehe. Not at all speaking from experience hehehehehehehehehhee.
 | Trifolium It's a laborious and manual and slow process, but this website is suuuuuuper extensive as you can see, it lists so many weird little records. Very lovely indeed!
 | Trifolium If you're interested: https://www.musicmeter.nl/release/full/2024/mrt and then I usually select 'grafisch' so it's an overview with album covers, and I just scroll and check whatever appeals to me based on title, cover, band name, genre, etc.
 | Trifolium Yeah it's nice isn't it!! I use a pretty strange Dutch website to check new records. It's a manual process, which appeals to me. No algorithm or any of that stuff for me please, I like to make my own decisions. More of a serendipitous process that way, haha.
 | neekafat please let me know what you think, I've been meaning to do a deeper dig into them! and yes it was dead for so long im v excited to see it hopping these days c: Will check those asap!!
 | neekafat Hell yeah please do!! That's probably been my fave trip-hop album I've discovered so far (:
 | Trifolium Oooh thanks Demon, that very much looks like my thing. Will check when the mood strikes! Groetjes uit Abcoude!
 | JohnnyoftheWell Jesper is always thinking about Citrus and those things Morrissey never did
 | Dedes Your musings are beneath me peasant, I can no longer converse with the commoners
 | Dedes I can imagine what segment you're referencing. I've thought about going through and doing a mass on my much older, admittedly semi-low quality reviews but tbh i'm not ensure if that's a time sink I wanna get into lmao. I understand the sentiment tho
 | tectactoe If you've got time for Linkin Park, you've got time for this ;o)
 | tectactoe Yeah I figured. I know the queue is full (as is mine, always) BUT if you have a measly six minutes to spare and just want a taste, czech the closing track at least, "Die teufelsbucher". It's not the most unique metal ever obviously but something about it rocks my socks, love the riffs/drums in the outro here. Just a great record.
 | tectactoe Somewhere kinda in the middle. Occasionally dissonant, but not terribly often (or intensely), also occasionally riffs like Morbid Angel or Dead Congregation. Occasionally has as the overwhelming/ominous wall of atmosphere like Immolation. But still doesn?t sound derivative. I?m loving it right now.
 | tectactoe https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=484563
 | gabba Demon, I highly recommend checking out Neubauten?s double live album ?9-15-2000, Brussels? if you haven?t done it yet. Sound quality?s pretty good, and the tracklist is awesome, with some deep(er) cuts. ?Yü-Gung? is also featured, as well as excellent versions of many other tracks. And Blixa?s monologues in-between songs are quite entertaining.
 | Trifolium Cool, thanks! Always in for Minimal Techno recs. You know how to make a flower happy!
 | Trifolium Ooooh so I see! Yipppeeee! A very good one indeed.
 | Trifolium I was already thinking there might be another artist who could feature here........... Lots of hearts!!!!
 | Trifolium OMG yes it IS!!!! Really want to hear it now but I can't at the moment... Sad me!
 | tectactoe Oof somehow missed your last shout. Never heard of Leichenschrei, should I peep?
 | dedex Nujabes is bae either way!!
 | Trifolium It isssssssssssssssssssss!!!!! Very glad with its position.
 | Trifolium Or...... has it already been posted!!!! Oh!
 | Trifolium Oooooooh!!! Hype upon hype!! When will it be revealed?
 | budgie fart fart fart fart fart
 | Trifolium Oh yes, I'm very sorry, but that was really not for me. Perhaps I'll try again at a later point, who knows what a new mood might bring, but for now that rating is staying.
 | dedex pls include him he da best :[[[[[[
 | dedex i better see Nas on top of that list!!!!!
 | Ryus lol this site's extremely antiquates architecture makes it trivially easy to post on closed lists
 | JohnnyoftheWell also **** the 1min i sampled of this was kinda great maybe rym has won the furries have won **** https://patriciataxxon.bandcamp.com/album/bicycle
 | JohnnyoftheWell Nice, rly need to get on that condensed Necks discog run aah - they don't really miss though from what I've heard. Citrus has absurd staying power for the amount of shrapnel in there lmao, very much worth keeping on rotation
 | Ryus you too mate and happy new year
 | Ryus Not being able to imagine myself as the object in a love song decreases my enjoyment
 | xxm I will try.
 | xxm Hey again! Just wanted to say Happy Holidays
 | Trifolium Hehe, I can play that role already insert many hearts here.
 | Trifolium Oh yeah no I haven't Prammed yet, I totally should! Will do soon!
 | Flugmorph you made some effort so ill try it again just for you my love
 | Flugmorph ive dabbled in some persefone, wasn't a fan so far. why do you ask?
 | Trifolium Omg have you heard the new Skalpel live album? Big band (17 musicians plus themselves!) renditions of classics and recent work! It's soooooo cool!
 | evilford Yo, u heard Voices of Omens by Rwake? One of the best albums that I feel like is mostly just pure sludge without much genre crossover
 | tectactoe It created a brief splash when it was released, I coulda swore you were in the early forum discussions here but I couldn't remember for sure (and obviously I was mistaken anyway).
 | tectactoe Okay. Nothing too crazy or fancy here. I'm honestly surprised you don't already have a rating for this, so I need to ask to make sure you haven't already heard it but just haven't rated it yet. Gilla Band - "Most Normal" ??
 | Sowing fantasy draft 6pm EST today
 | Azazzel check my Velaraas review/album. also got a bunch of new stuff collected here genre tagged https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=204012
 | BitterJalapenoJr I'm interested to see what Demon makes of this: https://open.spotify.com/album/4NbTVEPUgmq5722GEFFPea?si=T3e6gQPkTgSmG5r8yhCRIw
 | Trifolium That's the CaCo Discord for when the site crashes (and fun in between!).
 | Sowing Couldn't find you right away... try this link https://discord.gg/kfEbQBxC
 | Sowing I'd prefer everyone in the league be on it so that we can coordinate the draft and have a separate space to chat. There's a mobile app that makes it super easy.
 | Sowing Do you have a discord username? This would be for a fantasy invite. If so watch for a friend request so that I can add you.
 | Trifolium This is an automated message. User Trifolium has mentioned you in the Can - Soundtracks thread.
 | Pheromone i am good actually (though very stressed recently) i think im similarly often stuck in a sort of permanent balancing act of ok heh sending love ???? nux vom 2.5? ???? hmmmm ????
 | BitterJalapenoJr Amon Tobin ranking is live of my list of ridiculousness should you wish to swing by and give me your thoughts kind Demon.
 | Pheromone do you have discord? 3.0 public strain - you letting johnny eat the insides of ur ears or somethin?
 | Pheromone lol i am worried i've started to get a bit too liberal with handing out 5s (only half joking) - you have double my ratings my dear friend (i never remember to rate these days fix me) so we are the same
 | Trifolium Haha, figured as much when I saw that big shiny Demon 4.0! Oh yeah Porter Ricks is super nice. Aren't surprised you enjoy it at all! Lovely stuff.
 | Trifolium Yeeeah! For some reason it was in my list of albums to check. Loved it! Did you perhaps rec it to me?
 | Pheromone i have some hip hop recs for u but i dont trust u anymore these days
 | Storm In A Teacup A couple of my top hip hop albums Tech 9 - Something Else (bump, technique), Nas and Damian Marley - Distant Relatives (lyrics), and Currency - The Outrunners (smoke n chill)
 | Pheromone lmao it took about 5 years to wack a 5 on there - give it TIME. i hope u love it.
 | Pheromone ctrl f 'public sprain' no rating oh dear
 | tectactoe Surprised you didn?t much care for the Sarmat, seems like it?d be your cup of tea
 | Trifolium No I haven't! But it is both Johnny and you approved, so I should definitely give them a go soon. When the mood for something similar hits, I'll check them!
 | tectactoe yes and yes! Graves of the Archangels.
