| Feather You still around these parts?
| neekafat If you like this Jaunt album you should def check the latest Curls album
| ArsMoriendi Don't forget about the Umbrella thingy, by Tuesday of course
| neekafat Yo Jaunt is giving me some Elvis Costello vibes. You should check the latest Harvey Fox album, I feel like you might dig that!
| SteakByrnes Nice man haha I feel ya, I've been working up a storm too. I got a job as a software design engineer and I really like it!
| neekafat What do you think of my AOTY/AOTD lists? (:
| bloodshy Yeah, Eye of Nix was ****ing great. I have their previous album next on my list of things to check.
| Dewinged haha, no pressure! Well, I've been swarmed too with work, but I'll see if I can concoct smth in a swift manner. When is this coming out? I'm checking one of the singles now, sounds dope.
| Dewinged Damn, Duck, haven't seen you in a good while, how you been dude? I'll give it a check.
| Jom Do you think you might have gotten timed out, by chance? How recent did you attempt the article? As long as it's written reasonably well and not a straight copy-paste news release, I'll try to keep an eye out for it today. Having a source (either URL or YouTube embed) is also good because anything missing all that criteria is what we're supposed to remove. Cheers!
| Papa Universe I'm rustyin' up me old bones. Enjoying early retirement due to health issues. Not really doing much else other than resting, not that I can do much else.
| SymbolicInTime It just randomly clicked with me today that I hadn't seen you in the threads in quite a while. Hope all is well, friend. (this is TheWonderSoFar btw)
| Papa Universe hard pop-punk? uhh alright, but I'm doing this for you.
| Papa Universe Listen, so I made the Mars Comp playlist and I will submit it now, if you're okay with that. Don't really want to make them wait any longer.
| MarsKid Hey friend. Any progress on the comp? Hope all is well
| Papa Universe so I'm thinking dancepunk, but the one after Talking Heads. the one with more synths
| neekafat My write up for POST- is done if you're curious!
| MarsKid Hey, in the interest of keeping things moving, I wanted to know if you made any headway regarding the competition. If not, I completely understand, and I hope things are turning out alright.
| MarsKid s*** man, I'm sorry to hear that. Absolutely prioritize that above anything else. Best of luck, I know it can be hard.
| neekafat Sister Cities write-up is done!
| Adabelle Glad you enjoyed it somewhat, even if not as much as I hoped/thought you might!
| Casavir Glad you're liking it so far. I rep it pretty often because I always found it odd that a German progressive metal album that cohesive and well-written from 1990 has little to no attention even by underground standards.
| SteakByrnes Haha yea I've seen them play the medley, I love it it sounds really good
| Drifter Jeez that's so long. I didn't even know they drove at night lol. Do you at least get to jam music while driving? I know you have those doorless doors...
| Drifter Hey Zombie are things going any better for you with the multiple jobs?
| tyman128 can i attempt to redeem myself with a rec for after you finish the list?
| JohnnyoftheWell Haha, the last two songs are absolute knockout combo so you'd better believe it
| JohnnyoftheWell Oh man, hell yes it is - so glad you dig it! Have you got the whole way through yet?
| SymbolicInTime Glad to hear! All of their stuff is really tight. Bet you?ll enjoy getting around to their other albums if you do
| Demon of the Fall Nice! I went for something a little different, it was a gamble, haha. Hope you enjoy the whole thing.
| Conmaniac Oh hey thanks my man means a lot (: was so happy when I saw it made the list I had to write something for it
| kalkwiese Yea, the opener is a killer track. I basically love everything in here, but the tracks in the middle of the album aren't very immediate. Don't be fooled though, I think these tracks are amazing too
| tyman128 wait, so you?ve never heard of Love and Death before?
| Relinquished I saw that lone daft punk 5 and saw you need more house in your life, most people here do
| kalkwiese If you can see the playlist, it's the album tracks in the correct order
| kalkwiese That's weird. I found this playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lIhNPdS02YnphAfvpJKwt9xDKu2TJTGBk
| neekafat I know sorry it's cause of all the cram list albums I've been doing lol
| SymbolicInTime I?ve truly been meaning to get to 4, but I haven?t been in the mood to play anything other than ps4 lately. Eventually!
| SymbolicInTime I own the RE1 remake, RE4, RE5, RE6, and RE7, but the only ones I?ve actually played are 5 and 7. 5 was fun as hell as a couch co-op game with a buddy, but a slog playing solo. RE7 I ended up quitting just because I haven?t been in the mood for that kind of game, but what I played was definitely enthralling
| neekafat Pretty solid, finally enjoying break and relaxing for once!
| Papa Universe oh, I've heard it. but it's been a while, so I should definitely revisit
| bgillesp Watched NightmareBC with the fam last night. Nice profile pic btw!
| SymbolicInTime The list itself didn?t bother me that much. Yeah it?s incredibly immature to even bother making such a thing but I was mostly annoyed by the fact that it was legitimately featured. It?s one thing to make a list just to alarm someone and have a few people see it and reply but to then put it on featured for all to easily see is definitely a bit much. Glad that was reversed.
| MarsKid Yo, what song did you want to submit off of Insomniac Doze? Only the album title was given, couldn't find a track by that name.
| Hawks Will do for sure bro. That album is amazing.
| Dewinged My man! Tribulation ruuuuuules!
| ArsMoriendi I checked it and left my opinion on it on the new round
| MarsKid The game is on! https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=184513
| Frippertronics Personally speaking, my favorite is their debut, Meet the Residents. There are two versions however, but look for the mono version which contains the complete 44 minute album. The stereo version that was released in 1977/78 cut about five minutes from the album. A way to tell the difference is the final song, N-ER-GEE, is about ten minutes on the mono mix as opposed to the stereo version being seven minutes.
| Frippertronics Absolutely am, you got a head start by listening to Duck Stab (I'd presume the LP version with the Buster and Glen material included as well, since that's the version that is released nowadays). I could further recommend Not Available and Third Reich 'n' Roll as further listening goes. Everything from 1974-1982 is essential, not to mention the multitude of non-album singles they released in that time period.
| SandwichBubble Renaldo and the Loaf, Smegma (CA), Caroliner | I don't want to flood you with artists, but I have more if you like these.
| SandwichBubble I'd say go for Not Available, that seems to be considered their best. And also check Buster and Glen (companion piece to Duck Stab). Also also, ask Frippertronics. He's big into the Residents and probably would be better at rec'ing than lil ol me. :)
| Conmaniac ooh cool will jam after this Mid-Air Thief album my man.
| Conmaniac name sounds super familiar...but def haven't, what kind of music is it?
| Conmaniac yeee been awhile, been studying in Florence, Italy this semester so it's been crazy but super fun! hope everything is well with ya
| seinfeldreruns Dude I just revisited Wildlife and it?s so much better than I remember, I think Somewhere at the Bottom is still my favorite, but Wildlife is a solid 4.75.
| Dewinged hahaha one of my favorite songs ever. We used to watch his show back in the day. He tapping that old man's bald head while running around. Good times.
| SandwichBubble You'll get better at it as time goes on, trust me. Never the same album twice is the motto.
| iswimfast Hey sorry! I gave it a shot and forgot to yell at ya. I dunno it just didn't hit me, I'll have to give it another spin but it just didn't do much for me the first time.
| SymbolicInTime I?ve been meaning to check that for ages! Definitely gonna throw it in my saved stuff and possibly spin it after The Sound Of Madness from Shinedown
| SymbolicInTime Agreed dude, I had it at a 4 on my old acct, just need to respond it sometime! I?m in the midst of a radio rock kick today ala Breaking Benjamin and Shinedown lmao
| ArsMoriendi I know Old Man. I know a good portion of his hits, but not much of his lesser known songs.
| SandwichBubble Tip: Get a job that allows you to sit in front of a computer for hours. Or one where the boss doesn't care if you jam on the job.
| Tyler. NICe npsbtfng pbkews gtpbkies afgtphiwe tginpk
| Tyler. actually wait the blurrier the better
| Tyler. wait i can make it bigger
| Tyler. new profile picture ? https://imgur.com/a/STG5dDH
| Bloon ill make sure to check it friend
| ArsMoriendi It just needs a review so its thread can be continually bumped.
| seinfeldreruns Ah I see, I?ve never been able to get into Wilfile because I think that it?s a much less personal record. Somewhere At The Bottom... is really personal and talks all about the vocalists problems and emotions, while Wildlife is, in my opinion, telling stories of other people?s struggles and emotions. I don?t think it?s bad, but it doesn?t click with me as much as Somewhere At The Bottom does. King Park tho...
| Bloon i need your rec friend
| Papa Universe what is this (any) reality, where you sort of like, but aren't all that particularly fond of, my recs?
| Source Just finished Let It Enfold You. Great album. This band seems up my alley!
| Hawks Def planning on it bro.
| DarkSideOfLucca Holy s***. That was...insane lmao - will check in an hour at the gym
| veninblazer Honestly liked it more than I expected. Clean vocalist sounds a foreign Tom DeLonge.
| Rowhaus Been crushing the rating game bro m/
| neekafat I'm gonna check it along with all the other ones once things die down (should be very soon)!
| Papa Universe My Hero just kept creeping back into my mind, so I played it with the whole record and then some more.
| Papa Universe oi, Man With a Mission turned out to be pretty damn awesome
| SteakByrnes I'll go through my Yugioh pics for a good av soon, you've made me want it even more
| neekafat Screamed vocals work for me sometimes but very rarely lol and yeah that album is crazy good!
| XingKing It's been a while since I've listened to them. Probably not since they announced their anniversary tour last year (that I never wound up going to lol). I'll get a refresher and then rate them for you, bebe
| neekafat I liked it but the screamed vocals kinda took away from it I felt hahaha, have you ever heard Pinkly Smooth?
| XingKing I'm surprised I don't have them rated but I've definitely jammed them!
| seinfeldreruns Yo why?d you five wildlife and not somewhere at the bottom lmao
| neekafat My Daughters write up is on the Cram List btw (;
| neekafat Holy s*** I know this second one... **** this is taking me back, lots and lots of weird memories associated with this one christ haha
| neekafat Jesus this is exactly what I imagined them sounding like lol
| neekafat I'll check when I'm done trying Slint again (;
| SteakByrnes Dude I don't know like any 50's music enough lmao
| SteakByrnes I doubt anything can dethrone it at this point, I'm only really looking forward to one more release this year and it's a debut album. Although the album is looking really good, the band is called The Parallel, I'll let you know when it comes out :]
| SteakByrnes Dude right?? I told you it was amazing :] It's my AOTY now, I love it
| neekafat I'm gonna have to given all the hype it's getting hahaha it's on my cram-list!
| SymbolicInTime So I finally got around to checking the new The Dorty Nil album that you record me a little while back. Honestly didn?t do anything for me. There weren?t any bad moments per se, but I mostly just found myself bored tbh haha. I did enjoy Pain of Infinity and Always High though. Hit The Lights civet was interesting too
| neekafat got get what the hubbub is about that slint album
| SymbolicInTime Hell yeah man! I loved them back in middle school and randomly felt like seeing if they still held up. If you haven?t heard We All Bleed and you like any of their other stuff decently, it?s highly recommended. It?s them at their most interesting from a songwriting perspective (not that it would be hard to achieved that for a radio rock-esque band haha). Hell, they got a 10-minute track in there that KILLS
| Papa Universe anyone who went to Aberdeen have simultaneously walked too far and gone too low. if you're not there, you should be fine
| Papa Universe it's just pink is what I'm trying to say, but it holds a secret
| Papa Universe it's also a photo and everyone wears the same shade of pink.
| Papa Universe my wallpaper is already a giant peach covered with greenish seethrough cloth with children dancing around it singing satanic chants, while a baphometic goatlike creature observes from the upside down woods
| onionbubs ...when you getting on alkaline dawg?
| neekafat Definitely my fave track of 2016, it's just gorgeous
| bgillesp Drop another rec in the OCT SOTD thread so we don't die out on the last day
| Bloon I need your round 2 rec fren
| SymbolicInTime Okay I guess I like more Enter Shikari than I thought. That EP was quite a bit of fun. The breakdown in Paddington Frisk, the electronic bits in Radiate, and the Radiate remix were highlights for me. Oddly, that remix was probably my fav part. T/t was a major mixed bag imo but still glad I checked on the whole!
| SteakByrnes Oh I definitely will sometime soon, because I really liked that song
| SteakByrnes Lmao that was wacky and fun, the bass was ****in nice
| SymbolicInTime Rat Race the Enter Shikari EP? If so, I?ll spin it on my way home from work tonight
| SymbolicInTime Boyyyyyy that sure is some tasty bass! Never even heard of them before!
| XingKing Oh man, I really hope you love it. Not only is it amazing, but it came out 24 years ago and it sounds timeless. Massive boner for that record lol
| XingKing Not to mention many of the other bands we have in common *kissy emojis don?t work*
| CugnoBrasso Shiiiet man, glad to see you dig NoMeansNo so much, they're truly legendary!
| SteakByrnes Dude hell yea, it's so groovy I love it. And that track with the vox owns so hard
| Dedes That's rad dude.It may very well be my favorite post hxc album now.
| SteakByrnes Yee boi I loved the album, Polyphia has always been my jam. They play to all of their strengths on the new record, it's such a good album
| SteakByrnes Yea I love it, one of my favorite post hardcore albums ever
| SteakByrnes Dylan has a more unique timbre to my ears as opposed to the ISS guy. Just couldn't get into ISS no matter how many tries I gave them
| SteakByrnes Because Of Machines is a lot more technically driven, plus their vocalists are a lot better lol. ISS has that heavy electronicore vibe that I don't normally like outside of a few exceptions
| Dedes You jam Of Machines my dude?
| neekafat Nice dude! I'm gonna do my Mobb Deep write up asap
| Get Low I played on an illegal software called YGOpro for awhile, in which I would wreck people with really gimmicky decks (bitches don't know about my Inferno Tempest deck). But YGOpro doesn't work on my computer any longer, so that was kind of it for me. And the new Link monster mechanic seems really stupid.
| Get Low Hard agree. First gen 4ever.
| Get Low I do not. I don't even play normal Yugioh anymore, as I dislike the current state of the game. I loved it back in the day, though.
| SteakByrnes I just realized you haven't rated any of their music so if you haven't checked them out before, I highly recommend peeping Hell Songs and the self titled
| SteakByrnes The bass on the whole album is thicc af my boi, and if you like that track then you'll like the album for sure
| SteakByrnes The album art is very representative of how the music sounds
| SteakByrnes Satan in the Wait, that song is creepy and fantastic. Perfect for the season ;] Album officially comes out next Friday, but it leaked
| SteakByrnes It's so groovy and chill my man, I love that album. Jamming new Daughters rn tho, s*** is amazing
| neekafat Good cause I wrote way too much about it haha
| neekafat Writing about classical was so bizarre
| neekafat hell yeah! I'm gonna do one more jam of The Infamous before I post my write up I think
| neekafat You still working on that neek v zombie thing?
| tyman128 so have you been able to figure out a rating for Trench yet?
| Papa Universe also, the 5 starting points are the 5 all-time classics: Wire - Pink Flag, Gang of Four - Entertainment!, Magazine - Real Life, Television - Marquee Moon, Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
| Papa Universe a pal of mine has this extensive Spotify list (shamefully admit that it contained many a band I did not know myself) I usually use as a reference for folks. It has a ****tonne of songs on it. gimme a moment and I'll dig it up.
| Papa Universe like anything from the 70s before Joy Division craze turned men into pussies.
| Papa Universe I am not as fond of their other work, but I'd say Light Up Gold and Human Performance are both also career highlights.
| Papa Universe Monastic Living was supposed to be something like live-recorded improv session.
| Sowing glad to hear! it's definitely a breathtaking LP
| neekafat Yeahhhhh I wanna see it because of the RT score but honestly me and my friend saw so many indie films with that trailer that it's kinda a meme for me. Plus the whole Bradley Cooper directing a film about him being a famous musician and casting an actual famous musician as the person he "discovers" seems weirdly egotistical (and just a tiny sexist but that's just me reading too much into it)
| SteakByrnes Yea I'm looking forward to hearing it, Spencer is one of the best vocalists in the genre
| SteakByrnes I will boyo, I've been a stan of theirs since 2010 :] although I don't like Every Trick In The Book too much, but I am hearing good things about the new one
| tyman128 yea, I?m still quite shocked with how good the album actually is. I though that after Blurryface they would fall off the edge, but dang they redeemed themselves well. Check out my opinions in my review if you want to (shameless plug)
| tyman128 ah makes sense, like the work you did with cleaning up Nates review for Trench. Kinda hurt tho that he got his out before mine haha
| tyman128 so I see you checked out Night Verses, glad to see some love for it
| onionbubs ahhh good band except the new one which is beyond boring never hungover again is so tight enjoy the show!
| onionbubs when are you getting to alkaline dawg
| SteakByrnes Yea dude I love that Snail?s House album, my favorite album this year easily. And I can?t get down with mwY?s vocals, I hate the delivery and the aggressive talking lol
